Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, February 8th, 2019 Christine Ellen Buffett (nee Spencer) at the age of 76 years. Leaving to mourn with many fond and precious memories are her loving and devoted husband James Buffett of 28 years. A proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother she will forever remain in the hearts of her daughters; Heather (Jim) Porter, Danette (Enos) Meade, and Tracey Squarey who were there for their mom every step of the way to ensure she could spend her final days at home resting comfortable with her family just as she wanted it to be. Nan will also be sadly missed by her grandchildren; Angela (Steve) Clevett, Samantha Kelly, Kyla Porter, Matthew (Danika) Mackenzie, Kelsey Porter, great grandchildren; Jayden, Jared, and Charley who were the apples of her eye. She will also be fondly remembered by her step sons Scott and Dean, step grandson Leonard and her brothers and sisters in law; Peter (Jessie) Buffett of Fortune, NL, Elsie (Hugh) Fudge of Carbonear, NL, Joan (Joe) Felix of Codroy, NL, Wanda (Paul) Foote of St. John's, NL and Joe (Geraldine) Buffett of Sackville, NS, special cousins Norma (Angus) Vallis of Harbour Breton, NL, Gertie (Chesley) Kane of Port aux Basques, NL and a large circle of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and many wonderful friends.
Christine was a beautiful and talented lady, from a very young age she knew she loved music and used these gifts of her talent to do many community fundraisers. She could be found any night of the week playing at church functions, community dances, parties or just relaxing with her family and entertaining them on her deck where she played her accordion with Jim accompanying her with his guitar and singing some of their favourite tunes. Her fondest and most prized in all she did was the St. James Men's Choir which she founded and directed for over 20 years. For weeks she would practice and stress over this event and on concert night you could always see the smile on her face and the twinkle in her eye and this group of men were so near and dear to her heart (my boys as she called them). Anyone and everyone was always welcomed into her home for fun and fellowship and of course her famous desserts kept everyone coming back. Christine has left a void in the lives of her family, friends and a whole community that she loved so very much, she will live on in our hearts forever.

A special thank you to Dr. Ryan, the staff of both the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques and the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's.
Graduating from the Grace hospital in 1973, Mom dedicated her life to nursing, her family and volunteer work. She loved her career and patients and had the upmost respect for her colleagues. Mom recognized the importance of maintaining the services of the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre and also the need for the Southwest Coast residents to obtain essential services. She was instrumental in developing the chemotherapy unit and was very active in the planning stages of acquiring the Dialysis unit. Her passion and dedication of the healthcare of her community was evident in the time she devoted to the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre Foundation, CEC, Radiothon, and Relay for Live. We will forever be grateful and proud of the difference she made.
