It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Ethel Barnes (nee Thomas) announces her passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville, NL on Wednesday, February 14th, 2018 at the age of 81 years. Born in Port aux Basques, NL. Ethel was the daughter of the late George and Clara Thomas. She was also predeceased by her mother and father-in-law Margaret (Loven) Barnes; bothers Arthur Thomas, Lloyd Thomas; sister Ella Munden; son-in-law Brian Pike; sisters-in-law Clara Pardy, Ellen Pardy, Beatrice (Arthur) Taverner; brother-in-law Arthur Barnes. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her loving husband of 64 years Roland Barnes; daughters Christa (Walter) Osmond of Cape Ray, NL, Lillian Pike of Port aux Basques, NL, Carolia (Leo) Connolly of Dartmouth, NS; granddaughters Denise (Shannon) Ryan of O'Regan's, NL, Jody Lefrense of Dartmouth, NS; grandson Alex Osmond of Cape Ray, NL; great grandsons Cody of Dartmouth, NS, Grayson of O'Regan's, NL; great granddaughters Ashley, and Madison both of Dartmouth, NS; great-great grandson Jayce of Dartmouth, NS; brother-in-law Llewellyn Munden of Port aux Basques, NL; sisters-in-law Marie Thomas, Stella (Dale) Barnes and Ann Thomas all of Port aux Basques, NL plus many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 16th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and continuing on Saturday, February 17th from 2-4 and 7-9pm at East Haven Funeral Home Inc in Port aux Basques, NL. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 18th at 2 pm from the St. John The Evangelist Church in Cape Ray, NL officiated by Rev. BUNGAY, Alice Mary
1946-2018

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of the late Alice Mary Bungay, announces her peaceful passing surrounded by her loving family on Friday, February 23, 2018, at Western Regional Memorial Hospital at the age of 71. Born in Burgeo, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Sarah (Durnford) Dominie. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her loving sons, Eddie (Angela) Bungay, Halifax, NS and Darrell Bungay (Amanda Short), Cape Ray, NL, granddaughter, Meredith Janes, who was her pride and joy. She is survived by her brothers, Frank (Honor) Dominie of Botwood, and Wayne (Marilyn) Dominie of Port aux Basques, and sister, Norma Dutot of Port-aux-Basques. She also leaves to mourn a wide circle of nieces, nephews, and others who loved her deeply. Alice was predeceased by her brother, George (Annie) Dominie, brother-in-law, Maxwell Dutot. The family will be receiving family and friends at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Port-aux-Basques on Sunday, February 25, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. In keeping with Alice's wish cremation will follow. A celebration of her life will take place on Tuesday, February 27, 2:00 p.m. at St. James Anglican Church with Rev. Marlene Harvey officiating. DOWNEY, Augustus James
Born: October 1st, 1934
Passed on: February 8th, 2018

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Augustus James Downey announces his passing at the Dr. Charles L LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL on Thursday, February 8th, 2018 at the age of 83 years. Born in O'Regan's, NL, Augustus was the son of the late John and Maude Downey. He was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law Annie and Henry Collier, infant son, and Jim (Beatrice) Smith who was always there for Gus and stepped up to raise him and became a father figure to him which molded Gus to be the person he was throughout life, mentoring him and shaping his values of how to be a good human being. He was also predeceased by his brothers Edward Downey, Frank (Annie) Downey, Raymond (Ida) Downey, George Downey, Leo Downey and sister Rose (Carl) Brake; sisters-in-laws Mary (Roy) Pink, Elizabeth (Frank) Macdonald, Pearl (George) Samms, Susan (Thomas) Hillard; brother-in-law's James (Meta) Collier, Thomas (Blanche) Collier, Joseph Collier, Clifford (Dulcie) Collier, Charlies (Elizabeth) Collier, Bernard O'Gorman, Randolph Prosser, Cecil Osmond; grandson John Downey; granddaughter Kathleen Downey. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories the love of his life Blanche of 60 years marriage; his sons and daughters Leo (Kathleen) Downey, Cindy (Paul) McIntyre both of Cape Anguille, NL, Joy (Andre') LeDrew of Woodville, NL, Shane (Janice) Downey of North Sydney, NS, Allan (Sabrina) Downey of Port aux Basques, NL; fourteen (14) grandchildren, nine (9) great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Alma (Johnny T) Hillard of Cape Anguille, NL, Vivian Osmond of Port aux Basques, NL, Florence Collier of Stephenville, NL, Marie Downey of O'Regan's, NL, Winnie Downey of Codroy, NL; brothers Hyacinth (Mary) Downey of Dryden, ON, Thomas Downey and Micheal (Ruth) Downey both of O'Regan's, NL; sisters Margaret O'Gorman of Stephenville, NL, Theresa Prosser of Sydney, NS. Gus's love for life was contagious and people were drawn to him. He loved outdoor life, working on the farm and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Some of his greatest joys was the time spent with his family. In keeping with Augustus' wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation took place on Sunday, February 11th from 7-9 pm from St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Upper Ferry where the Mass of Christian Burial took place on Monday, February 12th at 2 pm with Father Lee Lainey and Rev. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Thomas George Downey announces his passing at the Dr. Charles L LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL on Sunday, February 25th, 2018 at the age of 79 years. Born in O'Regan's, NL, Thomas was the son of the late John and Maude Downey. He was predeceased by his brothers Edward Downey, Frank (Annie) Downey, Raymond (Ida) Downey, George Downey, Leo Downey, Augustus Downey and sister Rose (Carl) Brake. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his brothers Hyacinth (Mary) Downey of Dryden, ON, Micheal (Ruth) Downey of O'Regan's, NL; sisters Margaret O'Gorman of Stephenville, NL, Theresa Prosser of Sydney, NS; sisters-in-law Marie Downey, Blanche Downey, Winnie Downey all of Codroy Valley, NL. Tom was a kind hearted, humble man with a warm friendly smile for all. His love for his family and friends was only exceeded by his love of the river. From the break of dawn to well after dusk Tom could be found in his rubber boots, plaid shirt and ball cap, sporting his favourite rod and reel, balanced perfectly on his quad and off he would go. What exactly he did at the river for all of those hours, well, that's a tale for another time. Rest peacefully knowing how much you will be missed. He will be fondly missed by many nieces, nephews, and many of his special friends. Visitation taking place on Tuesday, February 27th from 6:30-8:30 pm with a memorial service taking place at 7 pm from St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Upper Ferry where the Mass of Christian Burial taking place on Wednesday, February 28th at 11:00 am with Father Lee Lainey officiating. Interment to follow at Mount St. Thomas Cemetery, Great Codroy. Flowers graciously accepted and donations in his memory can be made to the Dr. Charles L LeGrow Hospital Foundation. FRAMPTON, Theodore
Born: June 24th, 1963
Passed on: February 27th, 2018

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Theodore Clayton Frampton announces his sudden passing at Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, Nova Scotia on Tuesday, February 27th, 2018 at the age of 54 years. A loving dad, husband and son, Ted will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family; leaving to mourn his son, Jordan, daughter Melanie, wife Alisha, and parents Frederick and Edna Joan (Nee Hayward) Frampton, three grandchildren, Logan, Emma and Hayley, brother, Everett (Sherri), mother and father in law, Walter and Annie AuCoin, brother in law, George (Heather) AuCoin, nephews, Riley, Zachary, Joshua and great nephew, Jayce and dog, Bear, aunts and uncles, and a large circle of friends. In keeping with Ted's wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation took place on Sunday, March 4th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. with a memorial service held at 7:00 pm from St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Upper Ferry the Mass of Christian Burial took place on Monday, March 5th at 11:00 am with Father Lee Lainey officiating. Interment to follow at Mount St. Thomas Cemetery, Great Codroy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family. HYNES, Madonna Selina
(September 12, 1955 - February 23, 2018)

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Madonna Selina Hynes (nee O'Quinn) announces her sudden passing at her residence in Millville, NL on Friday, February 23rd, 2018 at the age of 62 years.
Madonna loved her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother and sister but her proudest title was Gramma. She was happiest having her family and friends around making memories and having laughs. She enjoyed a good glass of wine or game of cards; being an O'Quinn she always played to win. She was fortunate to have many good friends who were always there for her especially over the last few years while she was struggling with her COPD. To those friends, the family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and for you to know that you too, were her family.
Born in Millville, NL, Madonna was the daughter of the late William Joseph and Mary O'Quinn. She was also predeceased by her aunts and uncles Tom (Betty) O'Quinn, Betty (Bert) Breen, Pauline (Patrick) Gale, George (Genevieve) O'Quinn, Martin (Louise) O'Quinn, Hector (Vicki) O'Quinn, Theresa (Frank) McDermott, Austin Tobin, Ronald Gale, Jenny (John) Delaney, Lorraine (Leslie) Peddle, Maurice MacIssaac; and nephew Corey Gale. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her loving common law husband Ronald; daughter Amy (Pat) Buis of Fort McMurray, AB; son Wayne (Siobhan) Hynes of Lower Sackville, NS; four loving grandchildren Ryan, Brady, Ashlynn, and Paige. Madonna also leaves behind her brothers and sisters Manuel (Kate) O'Quinn of Oshawa, Ont, Eric (Debbie) O'Quinn of Kingston, Ont, Joan (Pius) Barnes of Oshawa, Ont, Joseph (Mabel) O'Quinn of Mount Pearl, NL, Ann (Don) St. Cyr of Kingston, Ont, Jean (Loyola) O'Quinn of Glenburnie, Ont, Rita (Wayne) Samms of Kingston, Ont; father-in-law Elmer (Genny) Gale of Millville, NL; mother-in-law Marie Gale of Mount Uniacke, NS; brothers and sisters-in-law Jim (Dawn) Gale of St. Andrew's, NB, Martha (Larry) Sterner of Oil City, PA, Dominic (Gaby) Gale of Millville, NL, Raymond (Jacinta) Gale of Calgary, AB, Joan (Bruce) Driver of Belleville, Ont, Gertie (Kent) Gale of Tantallon, NS, Doreen (Scott) Pindera of Fall River, NS, Mark Gale and Judy (Ken) Trudge both of Brampton, Ont; aunts and uncles John (Minnie) O'Quinn, Ron (Mary) O'Quinn, Al (Tilly) O'Quinn, Mary (Chiefee) Olaisen, Wilhelmina Tobin, Jim (Betty) O'Quinn, Billy (Ann Marie) Doucet, Ada (Pete) Withers, Martha MacIsaac, Walter (Bernadette) Doucet, and Doreen Gale plus a long list of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Interment of ashes at Mount St. Thomas Cemetery, Great Codroy at a later date. She was also predeceased by her brothers John (Jack) Osmond, Gordon Osmond, Levi Osmond; sisters Annie (Russell) Kettle, Margaret (Isreal) Osmond, Catherine (Kitty) Pearce; sister-in-law Joan Osmond. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her loving son Paul Osmond; sister Julie (Norman) Short both of Port aux Basques, NL; brother Joe Osmond of Chilliwack, BC; sister-in-law Ethel (Peg) Osmond of Kelowna, BC, Irene (Doll) Osmond and Shelia Stride both of Paul River, BC; brother-in-law Stan Pearce; special nephew Shawn (Michelle) Osmond both of Port aux Basques, NL plus many nephews and nieces (to many to list individually).
