He was a strong, hard working man all of his life. He loved kids and animals. He was an amazing storyteller, a practical joker and told some of the best Newfoundland jokes around. He worked for the City of Halifax for many years and also spent a lot of time on the water in Purcell’s Cove hauling lobster traps and fish nets to help meet the needs of a family of five. He was an amazing Dad, always finding ways to entertain us and the neighbourhood kids, whether it be with one of his great stories of his early days in Newfoundland, magic tricks, treasure hunts or making taffy. He was a generous neighbour and friend and will be missed by many. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Lillian Melbourne; infant daughter, Wanda; beloved grandson, Brian; brothers, Les, Charlie and Claude; sisters, Mildred, Ann and Rita.
