(April 30, 1934 - February 24, 2014)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stanley Anderson announces his passing on Monday, February 24 at Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Centre, Port aux Basques, Newfoundland at the age of 79 years. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret (nee Taylor), parents David and Ethel, brothers Monford and William, sisters Fayne Hunt and Geraldine Anderson, brothers in law Walter Anderson, Andrew Kendall, George Hunt, Henry Phillps, and Albert Taylor. Funeral services took place on Friday February 28, 2 PM at Faith Pentecostal Church, officiated by Pastor Jamie Warren. Interment followed at Faith Pentecostal Cemetery, TCH. BENNETT, Anne Veronica (nee Poirier)
March 2, 1932 - February 4, 2014

It is with the greatest sadness that the family of the late Anne Veronica Bennett announce her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Tuesday, February 4th, 2014 at the age of 81 years surrounded by her loving family. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Judy Bennett (Gordon Pennell) and Lynn Bennett (Gerard Blais); her only son, Charles Bennett (Karen Dawe); her two precious granddaughters Crystal Rose (John Bodner) and Julia King (Jeff); sisters Agnes, Fran, and Pauline; brother Joseph; good friend Robert Rose; the Rose, Pennell, King and Dawe families, as well as all of her other dear friends and relatives. Anne was predeceased by her loving husband Albert Bennett, 1993, and her daughter Sandra, 1989. Cremation has taken place at Anne's request. All arrangements are entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, St. Mark's Ave, Corner Brook, where the family will be receiving friends and family on Thursday, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Memorial service will take place on Friday, February 7th at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Church on Park St., Corner Brook, Marilyn Avery officiating. BESSEY, Stanley Clayton
(February 26, 1935 - February 13, 2014)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stanley Bessey announces his passing on Thursday February 13 at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 78 years. Born at Ship Cove NL, Stanley was the son of the late Reuban and Sadie Bessey. He was also predeceased by his sister Elsie, brother Baxter, brother in laws; Gerorge Curtis, Peter Rothman, sister in laws; Marcella (Bert) Buchan and Louise Smith. He leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories his devoted wife Sarah (Betty) Bessey of 51 years. Loving father of his only son Bruce (Sharlene) Bessey Cheticamp NS. Proud poppy of Lauren and Karlie. He will also be fondly remembered by his sister in laws; Jessie Rothman Arnold's Cove NL, Bertha (John) Hunt St. John's NL, Louise Curtis Gander NL, brother in laws; Rev. Frank (Vera) Curtis Frederiction NB, Eric Smith Brooks Alberta and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitation took place on Saturday from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Monday February 17, 11 AM at Wesley United Church, officiated by Rev. Patricia Ritchie. Interment followed at Wesley United Cemetery. January 17, 1926 - February 13, 2014

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Onslow Billard announce his peacefully passing on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the Mountain Hope Manor at the age of 88 years. He was predeceased by his wife Melita in 2008, parents Lillian and Herbert, brother Clyde, mother and father-in-law Beatrice and Harvey James, sisters-in-law Tryphenia and Sylvia, nephews Daryl and Glen. He leaves to mourn his sister Sheila (Jerry Billard), Halifax, brothers Winston (Verna), Halifax and Ward, Burgeo; sisters-in-law: Pauline Billard, Halifax, Cassie Miller (Robert), Ontario and Ruth Billard (Cyril), Burgeo; brothers-in-law: Wallace James (Lorraine), Burnt Islands and John James (Jean), Burgeo, nephew Everett James (Marilyn), Burnt Islands; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; as well as his roommate Doug Osmond and all the staff and friends at the Mountain Hope Manor where he resided for the past 6 years. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Michael Billard announces his passing on Thursday, February 27 at the age of 35 years. He was predeceased by his grandparents Clifford and Mary Samms, Solomon and Susanna Billard, and uncle John Billard. Left to mourn with many fond and loving memories, his fiancee Maureen Chant Isle aux Morts, daughter Morgan Simms Port aux Basques, stepdaughter Kathryn Wells Isle aux Morts, parents Solomon and Maggie Billard Halifax NS, brother Clifford Billard (Glenda Evans) Halifax NS, father and mother in law Gordon and Marlene Chant Lapoile, grandparents in law Reg and Violet Chant Lapoile, grandmother in law Edna Vautier Margaree, sister in laws; Wanda (Gary) Taylor Burnt Islands and Crystal Chant Lapoile, nephews Ashton and Bentley Taylor Burnt Islands and large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. BUTT, Winnifred (nee Marshall)
(November 8, 1927 - February 21, 2014)

On February 21, 2014 with a single teardrop, Winnifred Butt (nee Marshall) in the presence of her family left this temporary home to be with our Lord and Saviour. Leaving to celebrate her life of caring for others are son John (Debbie), daughter Joanne (Junior) Strowbridge, grandchildren; John (Jessica), Adam (Janice), Jessica (Matthew), Megan (Keith), great grandchildren; Logan, Jacob, Cash and Reid. Special niece Lorna Coffin (Robert), brother Albert (Classie) Marshall, sister Maria Mahar, sister in laws; Flora Gardner, Margaret Ivany, Jessie Chaytor (Cliff), Mary Duffett, Barbara King (Cecil), Winnie Marshall, brother in law Lloyd Butt (Eleanor) as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by parents John R and Lavina Marshall, sister Genevieve, brother Gordon, husband Adam L Butt, father and mother in law William and Marion Butt, brother in laws; Ralph Gardner, Winston Ivany, Allan Duffett, Edgar Butt, and Ralph Mahar, sister in law Joan Butt as well as relatives of the Marshall, Simms, Butt and Martin families. Cremation has taken place with visitation at East Haven Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. (December 20, 1976 - February 26, 2014)

Passed peacefully away at Western Memorial Hospital on Wednesday February 26, 2014 Blair Doucette at the age of 37 years. He was predeceased by his brother Kevin in 2005, his grandparents, Walter and Gertrude Doucette and Gerald and Kathleen Chaisson. He leaves with precious memories his parents, Walter and Bernadette Doucette, his caregivers and a large circle of family and friends. Funeral services took place at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Upper Ferry at 1PM on Friday, March 07, 2014 with Father Lee Lainey officiating. Cremation has taken place. Internment of ashes followed at Mt. St. Thomas cemetery in Great Codroy. DOWNEY, Jerome Joseph
(April 11, 1923 - February 3, 2014)

A joyous and powerful voice is quieter now but still resonates in memory. Jerome Downey passed away peacefully at his home in the Codroy Valley on Monday February 3, 2014 at the age of 90. He was predeceased by his wife, Rosemary; his parents Teresa and James; brothers, Edward, Bernard, Anthony and James; sisters, Frances MacIsaac, Cecilia Hall and Sister Mary Andrina Downey. Survived by his children Anne (Joseph) Martin, Marie (Michael) MacChesney, Myles (Lesley), Michael (Martina), Leo (Darla), Leonard (Sandra), Bernard, Mary (Colin) Wilkinson, James, John (Annalee), Ella (Will) Cornick, Paula (Dom) Maillet; 38 Grandchildren and 30 Great-grandchildren; brother and sisters, Joe, Theresa Cashin, Kathleen Barry, Anne MacNeil and Lucy (Jim) Briggs, sisters-in-law, Martha and Barbara as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation took place at St. Ann's RC Church in Upper Ferry on Wednesday from 7-9 PM and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services took place on Friday February 7, 1:00 PM followed by interment at Chapel Green Cemetery in Great Codroy; Father Maurice O'Quinn officiating. Born at Codroy, Catherine was the daughter of the late Josiah and Rachel Kendell. She was also predeceased by her husband George in 2001, son Bill in 2004, grandson Colin in 2001 and daughter in law Barbara Fiander in 2012. She leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories her children; Shirley (Bruce) Fountain Codroy, Elaine (Jim) Vickers Port aux Basques, Hilda (Michael) Anderson Codroy, George Halifax NS, Allan (Lori) Ontario, Jim, Terry (Rose) all of Halifax NS, Dennis (Jackie) Smithers BC, Darrell, Randy (Lorna), Robert (Meeka) all of Codroy, Brian (Susan) Halifax NS, 22 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. Sisters and brothers; Rita Beaton, Nora Greene, Muriel (Alex) Button, Eric Kendell (Irene), Ira Kendell. Born in Lapoile, Cecil was predeceased by his parents, John and Priscilla, mother and father in law, Gertie Margaret and Albert Taylor, brothers, Willis Eric, Peter, Bill and infant twins Willis and Percy, sisters, Emma Francis and Mary Jane Francis, brothers in laws, Thedore Thorne, Joseph Warren, Henry Organ and Walter Vautier, sister in laws, Emma Francis and Diane Taylor, great grandchildren Preston Huelin, Jamie Huelin and Carson Huelin. GILLAM, Maxwell Gordon
February 8, 1935 - February 15, 2014

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Maxwell Gillam announce his passing on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 79 years, after a brief illness. Max was predeceased by his parents Llewellyn and Florence and sister Maria. He leaves to mourn his sisters: Olive Connors, Louise Clarke and Bernice (Saul) Osmond; sister-in-law Donna; brothers: Ivan (Ann), Arthur and Stanley. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews other relatives and a large circle of friends especially his card buddies at the Royal Canadian Legion. HATCHER, Shirley Jane
(November 1, 1940 - February 19, 2014)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Shirley Jane Hatcher announces her sudden passing on Wednesday February 19, at her residence in Rose Blanche at the age of 73 years. She was predeceased by her mother and father and her husband Ernest of 52 years in September of 2013. A loving mother and grandmother, Shirley will be forever missed by her sons Tommy (June) Hatcher of Rose Blanche, Norman (Tammy) Hatcher of Halifax NS. Grandchildren; Lance (Kimberley Morash), Shane, Tiffany, Josh Best and great grandson Jackson. She will also be sadly missed by her brother Vincent (Mary) Parsons GlaceBay NS, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitation took place on Friday and Saturday at St. Michael's And All Angel's Anglican Church in Rose Blanche. A celebration of Shirley's life took place on Sunday February 23, 3 PM at St.Michael's And All Angel's Church officiated by Rev. Maryrose Colbourne. In keeping with Shirleys' wishes creamtion followed and interment will take place at a later date. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clara Jessie MacDonald announce her peaceful passing, surrounded by her loving family at her home on Saturday, February 22nd, 2014 at the age of 91 years. Born at Braz Ils on October 22nd, 1922 Clara was the daughter of the late Morgan and Mary Elizabeth Taylor. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years Charles Roy in 2012; brother's Tom, Morgan And Bill; sisters Vera, Emma Rose, Pearl and Irene; brothers and sisters-in-law. Clara was a loving wife, Mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Left to cherish with fond and precious memories are her children; Juanita (James) Kynoch, Port Rowan, ON, Marilyn (Percy), Savoury, Port Aux Basques, Terry (Margie) MacDonald, St. Andrews; grandchildren: Glen (Shelley) Savoury, Sheri Ogden, Lisa (Steve) Allen, Roy (Heather) MacDonald, Christopher (Michelle Taylor) MacDonald, great grandchildren: Emily, Marissa, Tori, and Kaleigh; brothers Reg (Elsie), Taylor, Port Aux Basques, Wilson (Beulah) Taylor, Loch Lomond, sisters-in-law Minnie (Tom) Taylor, Fox Creek, AB, Joyce MacDonald (Russell), Truro, NS. REID, Ruth Lillian
(March 6, 1939 - February 15, 2014)

It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of the late Ruth Reid announce her passing with her daughters by her side at her residence in Codroy on Saturday February 15, 2014 in her 74th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her two daughters Kim Dowding Corner Brook, Carolyn Aucoin (Darrin) Tompkins and her two grandchildren, Rebecca and Brady, whom she was very proud of. She was treasured dearly by her nieces Michelle Martin (Carl) Upper Ferry and Lisa MacArthur Halifax NS. Ruth will also be sadly missed by her sister Margaret Reynolds New Hampshire, brothers Winston Kendell Port aux Basques, Lawrence Kendell Woodville, sister in laws Mildred Parsons Jefferys, Peggy Reid Millville, Addie Fiander and Marion (Ralph) Fiander all of Woodville, brother in laws Cecil (Joann) Reid Smithers BC, Hubert (Donna) Reid Misissauga ON, Freeman Reid Codroy and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. She will also be dearly missed by close friends Doretta and Albert Samms of Codroy. She is predeceased by her husband Henry Reid, parents Frank and Ada Kendell (Penny), brothers Bobby, Lewis, sister Joyce, brother in laws Tom Reid, Ray Reynolds, and Neil MacArthur, father and mother in law Clement and Annie Reid (Janes), sister in laws Winnifred Hickey (Reid), Audrey Reid and Thelma Shaughnessy (Reid).
