BILLARD, Robert F.
1930 - 2006

Passed away peacefully at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Thursday, February 2, 2006 Robert Frederick Billard (Fred) of Port aux Basques at the age of 75 years. Born at Brand Bruit, he was the son of the late Susie Annetta and William Robert Billard. He was also predeceased by his son, Robert Bryan; sister, Dorothy Billard; brother, William Billard; and sisters-in-law, Lavina Keeping and Alice Abbott. He leaves to mourn his wife, Irene of 54 years marriage and four children, Claude (Verna) of Edmonton, AB, Pauline Ford of Brandon, MB, Susan, Keith (Margie) of Port aux Basques, NL; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Sandy Saunders; sons, Clinton and Cody of Calgary, AB, David (Rocky) Ford (Mandy) of Barrie, ON, Steven Ford (Cynthia) and son, Brody of Brandon, MB, Danny Billard (Alley) and son, Dillion of Edmonton, AB, and David Billard of Port aux Basques, NL; sisters, Minnie Hulan of St. David’s, Edith (Roy) Coffin of Port aux Basques; sisters-in-law, Rose (Allan) Clouther of Fortune, Molly (Clarence) Norman of St. John’s; brothers-in-law, Alex (Gladys) Coombs, Harold Abbott all of Gaultois, and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation took place on Friday, 7-9 p.m. and Saturday 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Sunday, February 5, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Wesley United Church officiated by Rev. Patricia Ritchie. Interment followed at Wesley United Church TCH Port aux Basques. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

COX, John W.
1939 - 2006

It is with great sadness that the family of the late John W. Cox announce his sudden passing at his residence on Friday, February 10, 2006 in his 66th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his sister, Rita (John) Rose with whom he resided in Rose Blanche and nephew, Melvin (Tracey) Rose of Isle aux Morts, as well as a large circle of cousins and very close friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Emily Spicer in 1996. Visitation began on Saturday, February 11 at St. Michael’s Anglican Church Rose Blanche, from where the Funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Abbott officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. Burnt Islands
1957 - 2006

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Kent Keeping announce his sudden passing on Friday, February 10, 2006 in his 49th year. He leaves to mourn with precious memories his mother, Cordella Keeping, Burnt Islands; and loving sisters and brothers, Betty Lillington (Gordon) Port aux Basques, Wilson Keeping Jr. (Shelia) Burnt Islands, George Keeping (Jacqueline) Burnt Islands, Roland Keeping (Dora) Burnt Islands, Lorraine Munden (Gerald) Burnt Islands, Terrance Keeping (Louise) Margaree, Dana Keeping, Burnt Islands, Jerome Keeping (Theresa) Keeping Burnt Islands, Gordon Keeping (Charlene) Burnt Islands; as well as 10 nieces, 18 nephews, Thomas Organ (godchild) and a large circle of extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Wilson Keeping Sr. Visitation began on Saturday, February 11 at St. George’s Anglican Church, Burnt Islands, from where Funeral services was held on Monday, February 13, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ken Abbott officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. ASHFORD, Mary Jane
Age 75
Port aux Basques, NL

It is with great sadness that we the family of the late Mary Jane Ashford announce her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook, NL. Mary was the daughter of the late James and Jessie (Hardy) Parsons of Burnt Islands and daughter-in-law of the late Augustus and Rita Ashford. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughters, Viola (Johnny) Skinner, Rose Blanche, Elsie Brake Corner Brook, Shirley (Donald) LeRiche, Port aux Basques, Ruby (Brian) Hann, Burgeo and Judy-Anne (Timmy) Stevens, Prince Edward Island; sons, John, Dave and Ross (Monica) all of Prince Edward Island, she is also survived by one daughter-in-law Selina Ashford of Rose Blanche; five sisters; five brothers and a large circle of grandchildren; great-grandchildren, family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Henry, August 2005; son Raymond in June of 2004 and one brother. Friends visited Fillatre’s Funeral Home on Thursday and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral service took place on Saturday, February 11, 2006 at 2 p.m. from St. James’ Anglican Church, followed by interment at Hillside Haven Cemetery. Officiated by Rev. H. Fudge. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the family or to a charity of donors choice. HANN, Albert K.
1945 - 2006

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Albert (Al) Kenneth Hann announce his passing on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at the age of 60 years. Born at Port aux Basques, Al was the son of the late Clementine and Morgan Hann. He leaves to mourn his loving family, wife, Emma; daughter, Alesia (Mrs. Jeff Hynes) and Al’s pride and joy grandson, Brady all of Dartmouth, NS; sons, Paul (Melda) of Daniel’s Harbour, Jason of Port aux Basques and children, David, Falon and Jamie, Blaine (Melanie) of Calgary and children Leslie and Christian; sister, Barbara (Gerry) Gray of Gander; brothers, Don (Mildred) of Port aux Basques, Wes (Carol) of Ottawa and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Al retired from Marine Atlantic in December of 1997, he was an active member of the Port aux Basques Lions Club and the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Heath Centre Foundation. Al was also a salesman of Parkway Hyundai in Port aux Basques. Visitation took place at East Haven Funeral Home on Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services took place at St. James’ Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Cannon Hugh Fudge. Interment followed at St. James’ Cemetery Barachois Hill. Donations in Al’s memory may be made to the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. “Al will be sadly missed by all who knew him.” Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.
