BARTER, Simeon Nathan
1935 - 2018
October 26, 1935 - December 07, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Simeon Nathan Barter announces his peaceful passing surrounded by his loving family on Friday December 7, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease at the age of 83 years. Born in Cape La Hune, Simeon was the son of the late Simeon Sr. And Victoria Barter. He was also predeceased by his brother John Barter, father and mother in law Harry and Florence Baggs, brother in laws; Henry Morgan, Henry Dominie, Fred Banks and James Coley. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of precious memories, his devoted wife Maisie (nee Baggs) of 58 years. A proud father and grandfather he will also be sadly missed by his children; Kathy (Paul) Organ, David Barter (Janice Enwood) all of Port aux Basques, Tracey Barter (Mark McKinnon) of Ontario. Granddaughters; Taylor Barter, Sarah Organ and great granddaughter Mia Stiers. Loving brother of Effie Dominie, Elizabeth Morgan, Ada (Malcolm) Palmer, Frances Coley and George Barter as well as his uncle Edgar (Florence) Pink who was more like a brother. He will also be fondly remembered by his sister and brother in laws; Ida (Nathan) Keeping, James (Shirley) Baggs, Ivan (Diane) Baggs, Leah (Derek) Harvey and Audrey Barter. Simeon was a very quiet man whose unconditional love for his family and community was evident in his passion of teaching and nurturing the many children who he taught in his 40 plus years as a teacher. He was an avid gardener in his spare time and anyone who ever got to see his office at school could tell you it was like a beautiful greenhouse filled with many different, beautiful plants, each one getting special care and attention. Simeon was also very involved with St. James Anglican Church, he was an active lay minister for 58 years and only retired from this position after becoming ill. He has touched many lives and anyone who was fortunate enough to have been blessed with his presence will fondly remember his quiet demeanour and kindness to all. In keeping with Simeon's wishes cremation has taken place. The family will be receiving friends and neighbours on Monday December 10, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services taking place on Tuesday December 11, 2 pm at St. James Anglican Church, Channel officiated by Rev. Ed. Coleman. Inurnment will follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. James Anglican Church Memorial fund. , 87, of Dieppe, NB, passed away on Saturday, December 8th, 2018 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Channel-Port aux Basque, NL, she was the daughter of the late Baxter and the late Grace (née: Feltham) Squarey. She is survived by her husband, Robert; two sons: Robert (Alison) of Guysborough, NS and Baxter (Liliane Pinet) of Dieppe, NB; one sister, Leona (Jack) Marshall of Corner Brook, NL; one brother, Arthur Squarey of Channel-Port aux Basque, NL; 5 grandchildren: Christopher, James, Rebecca, Megan and Robert; 4 great grandchildren: Madelyn, Emma, Owen and Nora, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be celebrated from the Chartersville Funeral Home Chapel, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Thursday, December 13th, 2018 at 2 pm. CURRIE, Hannah
October 25, 1926 - December 25, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hannah Currie (nee Styles) announces her passing on Tuesday, December 25th, 2018 at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 92 years. Born in Rose Blanche, Hannah was the daughter of the late Samuel and Angus Styles (nee Smith). She was also predeceased by her husband James Currie in 2013, baby boy James Currie, brothers; John Styles, Samuel Styles, Thomas Styles (Annie), Montford Styles (Ruth), sisters; Betty Knee (Alex), Lizzie Critchley (Jacob), Sarah McNeil (Leo) and Ada Carter (Robert). Leaving to mourn with many fond and loving memories her only son Samuel Currie (Gerrie) of Ontario, granddaughters; Patricia Walstra (Steve), Joanne (Victor) DaFaria, brother James Styles (Martha) of Rose Blanche and a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends including her caregivers Bernice Best and Claudine Wagg and the staff of Mountain Hope Manor who were her second family. Visitation will take place on Friday, December 28th, 2018 from 7-9 pm, continuing on Saturday, December 29th, 2018 from 2-4 pm at St. Michael and All Angel's Anglican Church, Rose Blanche from where the funeral service will take place on Sunday December 30th, 2018 at 2 pm officiated by The Rev. Jeffrey Petten with interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Miriam Griffin announce her passing on Monday, December 3rd, 2018 at Corner Brook Long Term Care home at the age of 92 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children: Theresa Griffin (Peter Straubel), Myles (Phyllis), Peter (Darlene) and Patricia Griffin (Randy Heppell); eight grandchildren: Jamie (Rosa), Leah (James), Jill (Patrick), Cheryl (Dean), Pj, Stephanie, Patrick and Brady; seven great-grandchildren: Andrew, Erika, Lisa, Megan, Ellie, Emma, Maximo; two sisters: Marie Harrietha and Lenore DeGruchy; as well as many other relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Patrick Joseph Griffin, 1994, brothers Jimmy, Charles, Louis and John; sisters Claire and Carol; and by her parents John James and Jean Almon. Friends and family may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Wednesday and Thursday from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The Funeral service will take place on Friday, December 7th, at 10:30 a.m. from Sacred Heart Parish with Father Jim Robertson officiating, cremation to follow. HARVEY, George Nelson
November 25, 1939 - December 23, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of the late George Nelson Harvey announces his passing on December 23, 2018 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 79 years. Born in Isle aux Morts George was the son of the late Tom and Rachel Harvey. He was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law John and Julia Seymour, sister-in-law's Susanna MacDonald and Mildred Carroll and brother-in-law's Eli Lefrense, Theodore Lawrence, Melvin Bragg, Wesley Coleman, John Ball, Eric Tapp and Garfield Seymour. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories; his loving wife Pearl of 56 years marriage. His daughters Rosalyn (Glen) King and Valda (Rick) Scott, grandchildren Lynnette (Mark), Cassie, Lori (Andrew), Nelson, and Amy, great grandchildren Noah and Sophie, siblings Harriett Ann (Ken) Pink, Carolyn (Eli) Seymour, Merriam Harvey Lawrence, Abbott (Karen) Harvey, Tom (Vera) Harvey, Roland (Susan) Harvey, brother-in-laws: John (Judy) Seymour, Gordon (Maggie) Seymour, Angus MacDonald, John Carroll and sister in laws: Aggie Coleman, Naomi Ball, Maude Tapp, Vera Bragg, Theresa Lefrense, Elsie (Wayne) Billard, Shirley Seymour and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. To some known as George to others known as Silver, he will especially be missed by his long-time friend Arch Organ. His love of telling stories to others was never as great as the story of his life, the love he shared for his family and friends was immeasurable, his humour and laugh that was contagious, and his smile that we all loved to see. He will always be on our minds, forever in our hearts and we will always remember to take care.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Thursday December 27, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Holy Spirit Anglican Church In Isle aux Morts from where the funeral service will take place on Friday December 28, 2018 at 11:00 am, officiated by Deacon John Billard. Interment to follow at Hillside Haven Anglican Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Rd. Donations in memory of George can be made to the Holy Spirit Anglican Church. Passed peacefully away at Pleasant View Towers on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the age of 92 years. Gerald is predeceased by 2 sons, Gerald and Wilfred; his parents, Julia and John Ingram; 2 brothers, Henry and Bill; Wilhelmina Wells Ingram; sisters-in-law, Jacqueline and Kay and special nephew, Barry. Left to mourn are his daughters: Jane (Paul) and Penny (Ronnie); sons, Robin (Julie) and Phil (Coreena); grandchildren, Troy, Jonathon, Julia, Jemma, Jeffery, Tina, Siobhan, Nicholas, Erica, Waylon, Chynna, Jordan and Brodee; great-grandchildren, Liam, Adele, Skyler, Sophie, Dahlia, Olivia, Ethan, Zakk, Dagan, Bentley and Daxon; sisters, Sis and Collie; brothers, Eric, Doug and Bob (Lucy) and daughter-in-law, Shirley as well as Judy Gosse. Gerald also leaves a wide circle of family and friends. Special thanks to the staff of 1SW, 3NW and the Recreation staff of Pleasant View Towers for the love and care he received. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral at the family's request. Arrangements were handled by Caul's Funeral Home, St. John's.

JANES, Alex Frederick

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alex Frederick Janes announces his passing on Monday, December 10th, 2018 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL at the age of 81 years. Born in Cape Ray, Alex was the son of the late Albert and Elizabeth Janes (nee Short). He was also predeceased by his wife Rita Janes (nee Wall) in 2011; brothers George, Claude, Kevin, Raymond; grandson Jonathan Janes; father and mother in-law Winifred and Tom Wall, brother-in-law William Carter and a large circle of brother and sisters-in-law on the wall side of the family. He leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories his only daughter Patsy (Leo) Fudge; sons Sandy (Janice) Janes, Mike Janes (Trina Osmond) all of Cape Ray, NL; grandchildren Jeremy, Shardi, Josh, Melissa, Nicholas; great-granddaughter Leila; brothers Harold (Joyce) Janes, Austin (Evelyn) Janes both of Cape Ray, NL; sisters Gertie (Calvin) Rose of Port aux Basques, NL, Doris (Hurbert) Harris of Gander, NL; sisters-in-law Olive Janes, Nina Janes both of Port aux Basques, NL and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 12th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and on Thursday, December 13th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at St. John The Evangelist Church in Cape Ray, NL from where the funeral service will take place on Friday, December 14th at 2 pm officiated by the Rev. LILLINGTON, Judy Theresa
October 3, 1955 - January 31, 2019 (age 63)

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother and Nana, Judy Theresa Lillington. Judy was born October 3, 1955 in Vancouver BC and raised in Nelson and Golden before settling in Fernie to raise her family. She had a passion for the Arts and loved performing in various events including Expo '86 and BC Mainstage Festival in 1996. Judy was an active member of the Catholic church, an avid volunteer and was always involved in the community. She was selfless, kind, and loving, with a smile and energy that could brighten any room.
After a long battle with her health, she peacefully passed away on January 31, 2019 with her son and daughter by her side. She was well loved and will be forever remembered by her family and many friends. She is predeceased by her father Jim Molloy, mother Toddy Molloy (Coffey), and her ex-husband and father of her children Tom Lillington. She is survived by her children Theresa Molenaar (Tyler) and James Lillington (Kimberly); her grandchildren Madelyn, Jaxton, Rilynn, Brielle, and Carissa; siblings Mike (Jo), Cam (Kristy), Maureen (Doug) and Pat (Cheryl); as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
For those touched by her life, a funeral service will be held at the Holy Family Parish in Fernie BC on February 9th at 2pm, with luncheon and tribute to follow. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association or Hydrocephalus Canada. There's still time to send flowers to the Funeral Mass at the Holy Family Catholic Church at 2:00 PM on February 9, 2019.

MARKS, Llewellyn
1932 - 2018

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Llewellyn Marks announces his passing at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre on Thursday, December 27, 2018, with his loving family by his side at the age of 86. Born in Codroy he was the son of the late John and Mildred Marks. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Bernice of 32 years marriage, her brothers and sisters and their families, brothers, Jack and Frank (Helen), nieces, Sandra, Beverly, Lorie, Wendy, Glenna and Patricia, nephew, Angus and a large circle of friends and those who would bring him fish. His love for woodworking and gardening could be well seen around his home. Llewellyn was predeceased by his brother Arthur, sisters, Mary, Angela, niece Meredith. Arrangements are under the care of Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques. In keeping with Lew's wishes,cremation has taken place. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Codroy, NL ,The Rev. Clayton Billard officiating with interment to follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Codroy. Thank you to Dr. Ryan who offered his care and compassion and professional support to Lew over the last year. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Deborah May Peters (nee James) announces her passing on Tuesday, December 18th, 2018 at the Long Term Care unit at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL at the age of 76 years. Born in New Harbour, NL, Deborah was the daughter of the late John James and Emily Ingram. She was also predeceased by her husband Victor Peters; companion Lloyd Tucker; father and mother-in-law Benjamin and Lucy Peters; brothers Robert James, Edgar (Gerine) James, Gordon James; sister Hazel (Henry) Skinner; nephews Keith Skinner, Gary Skinner and niece Darlene Pink (nee James). She leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories her brother Ivan (Shirley) James of Port aux Basques, NL; sisters-in-law Helene James of Antigonish, NS, Pearl James of Port aux Basques, NL; special niece Paulette (Wayne) McNeil of Port aux Basques, NL, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews as well as a large circle of friends. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband, Jerry, her loving son, Rogan Seaward, stepson, Clark LeRiche, her dog, Diesel, her mother, Ruth, sisters, Debbie (Alvin) Francis, Marcheta (Harlan) Warren and brother, Fernon (Nicole), nephews, Marc, Scott, Cole, Luke, nieces, Lori and Bree, and a large circle of aunts, uncles, family, friends. Arlene was predeceased by her grandparents, and many aunts and uncles. SKEARD, Donna Elaine

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Donna Elaine Skeard announces her sudden passing on Friday December 7 at her residence in Port aux Basques at the age of 64 years. Born in Port aux Basques, Donna was the daughter of the late Elijah and Myrtle (nee Banfield) Skeard. She was also predeceased by her brothers Wayne Skeard and Allison Skeard, brother in law Richard Tobin (Dick) and nephew Paul Tobin. She leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories her special friend Richard Anderson with whom she resided for the past number of years. Her only sister Mildred Tobin, brother Roger Skeard, sister-in-law Dale Skeard all of Port aux Basques, 5 nieces and nephews, 11 great nieces and nephews her beloved puppy Max who never left her side plus special home care workers Elaine Mauger and Irene Musseau and a large circle of friends. The family will be receiving friends on Saturday from 7-9 pm and continuing on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services taking place on Monday December 10, 2 pm at the Salvation Army Citadel, Grand Bay officiated by Major Edward Barrows. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Dulcie Voutier (nee Clarke) announces her passing after a short illness on Wednesday, December 5th, 2018 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL at the age of 83 years. Born in Harbour Le Cou NL, Dulcie was the daughter of the late Alfred and Mary Clarke (nee Dominie). She was also predeceased by her father and mother-in-law Philip and Beatrice Voutier (nee Hann); son Floyd Voutier; infant daughter Janet Voutier; sister June (Harry) Hardy; brothers-in-law Winston Hatcher, Tommy Waugh, Cyril (Evelyn) Voutier, Don (Violet) Voutier, Wilfred (Lydia) Voutier and sister-in law Dorothy (Philip) LeRiche. Dulcie leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 66 years Clyde Voutier; sons Bradley (Glenys) Voutier of Eagle Plains, AB, Keltie (Elizabeth) of Dartmouth, NS; daughter Penny (Larry Whitten) Voutier of Paradise, NL; grandchildren Tanya Voutier, Shevaun Voutier (Darryl Matthews), Daniel (Alexis) Voutier, Karen (Dan) Gallaso; great-grandchildren; Nikita Meade, Ashton Matthews, Hannah Gallaso, Hailey Gallaso, Sophia Gallaso, Wyatt Voutier; brothers Russell (Violet) Clarke of Harbour Le Cou, NL, Danny (Lorna) Clarke of Rose Blanche, NL; sister Martha Hatcher of Port aux Basques, NL; brothers-in-law Roy (Linda) Voutier, Clara (Rex) Matthews and sister-in-law Olive Waugh.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 9th, 2018 at 2 pm at East Haven Funeral Home Inc in Port aux Basques, NL officiated by The Rev. Jeffrey Petten. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation.
