CURNEW, Frederick
Born: January 30th, 1941
Passed on: December 25th, 2017

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Frederick Curnew announces his passing at the Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL on December 25th, 2017 at the age of 76 years. Born in Stephenville Crossing, NL, Frederick was the son of the late George Curnew. He was also predeceased by his daughter Sandra Curnew, brothers Clifton Curnew and William Curnew. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his sister Millie Pelliter of Alberta, Maisie Miller and brother Bernard Curnew both of Stephenville, NL, Fred has been a resident of Oceanside Homecare / Hilliard's Homecare under the care of Minnie Hilliard, Vicki Donaldson and staff. Fred considered this to be his home and all staff and residents to be family. He will be sadly missed by all. The family received friends and family on Wednesday, December 27th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Codroy, NL. The funeral service took place on Thursday, December 27th at 2 pm from Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Codroy, NL officiated by Rev. Harold Harvey with internment followed at Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Codroy, NL. Flowers are graciously accepted and donations can be made to one's choice. FRANCIS, Freeman
Born: July 8th, 1938
Passed on: December 2nd, 2017

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Freeman Francis announces his passing on December 2nd, 2017 in his 79th year at the Charles L Legrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques. Born in Grand Bruit, NL, Freeman was the son of the late Emmanuel and Rosanna Francis. He was also predeceased by his brothers Ralph Francis and Henry (Phyllis) Francis, brother-in-laws Victor Lawrence, Joseph (Vera) Lawrence, Doug Hiscocks, & Wallace Pearce and sister in law Mary Jane (Leslie) Harvey. He Leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, the love of his life wife Rita (nee Lawrence) of 55 wonderful years. His children Vicky (Wendell) Durnford and Kay (Marty) Coleman, grandchildren, Dawn (Johnny) Harvey, Clifford (Krista) Harvey, Josh Durnford and Emily Durnford, great grandchildren, Victoria Seymour, Emma Richards, Anna Harvey & Karla Harvey, brother Max (Geraldine) Francis, Sisters, Nina Pearce, Dorothy (Will) Ingram, brother in laws Kenny (Ruth) Lawrence, sister-in-law May Hiscocks, Elizabeth Francis, Ivy (Ed) Herridge and Jack (Melita) Lawrence and an enormous circle of nieces, nephews family and friends. He was an avid member and volunteer of the Holy Spirit Anglican Church, the Orange Lodge, and Good Samaritan Seniors Club in Isle aux Morts. He loved a good game of darts. A gentle soul to all that knew him, he will be missed by so many. The family received friends and family on Sunday, December 3rd from 7-9 pm, Monday and Tuesday, December 4th and 5th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Holy Spirit Anglican Church in Isle aux Morts, NL. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 6th at 11 am from Holy Spirit Anglican Church in Isle aux Morts, NL officiated by Rev. Maryrose Colbourne with internment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road, NL. Flowers are graciously accepted and donations can be made to the family. Born: December 14th, 1929
Passed on: December 24th, 2017

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Jane Kettle (nee Poole) announces her passing at the Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL on December 24th, 2017 at the age of 88 years. Born in St. Andrew's, NL, Jane was the daughter of the late Jim and Mary Poole (nee Kettle). She was also predeceased by her husband John (Jack) in 2004, son Darryl Kettle, son-in-law Roland Barnes, brothers and sisters-in-law Wilson (Dollie) Kettle, Stan (Dorthy) Kettle, Nathan (Hilda) Kettle, Glayds Kettle, Evangeline (Norman) Marshall, Olive (Cyril) Kettle, Alice (Harry) Bemister, Stanley Roberts and Gordon Kettle along with two baby infants. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter Joanne Kettle (James Blair), grandson Tyson Barnes all of Antigonish, NS, sisters-in-law Viola Roberts and Frances Kettle both of Port aux Basques, NL, special friend Ruby Green and her loving caregivers Sarah Pearce and Colleen Organ plus a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. In keeping with Jane's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family received friends and family on Thursday, December 28th from 7-9 pm at East Haven Funeral Home Inc in Port aux Basques, NL. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 29nd at 11 am from St. Paul's Anglican Church in Port aux Basques, NL officiated by Rev. Harold Harvey with internment at a later day. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the family. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Joyce Marilyn Kettle announces her passing at the Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, December 27th at the age of 66 years. Born in Rose Blanche, NL, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Freeman and Mary Mauger (nee Pooley). She was also predeceased by her father and mother-in-law Russell and Annie Kettle, brother-in-law Alvin Kettle, sisters-in-law Annette Kettle and Diane Kettle. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her loving husband Cyril of 46 years, son Dwight (Charlene) Kettle, grandchildren Kaitlyn and Natalie all of Port aux Basques, NL, brother Arthur (Pat) Mauger of McDougalls, NL, brothers and sisters-in-law John (Linda) Kettle of Doyles, NL, Wayne Kettle of Calgary, AB, Gary (Roslyn) Kettle of Cape Ray, NL, Nancy (Jack) Hexspoor of Calgary, AB, Derek (Madonna) Kettle of Tompkins, NL, Sylvia (Lionel) Pearce of Port aux Basques, NL, Suzanne (Bill) White of Grande Prairie, AB, Terry (Corina) Kettle and Arlene (Tony) Osmond all of Port aux Basques, NL, plus a large circle of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews as well as her Bosom Buddies Breast Cancer Support Group. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Clyde Marshall Lawrence announces his passing on December 20th, 2017 in his 91st year at the Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL. Born in Burnt Islands, NL, Clyde was the son of the late Thomas and Jane Lawrence (nee Caines). He was also predeceased by his wife Martha, mother and father-in-law Charlie and Maggie Munden, daughters Rowena Gilliam and Loretta (Henry) Bateman, brothers James T Lawrence, George Lawrence, Wallace (Nellie) Lawrence, and Clifford (Alice) Lawrence, sisters Etta (Elias) Wells, Susie (George) Foote and Pheobe Lafosse, brothers and sister-in-law William (Ella May) Munden, Miriam (Thomas) Edmunds, and Irene (John) Thorne. He Leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children Gideon (Diane) Lawrence of Dartmouth, NS, Eileen (Mike) Osmond, George (Gertrude) Lawrence, son-in-law Albert Gilliam all of Port aux Basques, NL, twelve (12) grandchildren, fifteen (15) great-grandchildren, two (2) great-great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Lillian Lawrence, Margaret Lawrence and brother-in-law Harry Lafosse all of Port aux Basques, NL plus a large circle of nieces and nephews. ORGAN, FREEMAN GEORGE
April 28, 1941 - December 31, 2017

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Freeman George Organ announce his passing on Sunday, December 31, 2017 with his family by his side at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques at the age of 76 years. Born in Isle aux Morts, he was the son of Sadie (Harvey) and late George Organ. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his daughter, Melanie Organ (Mark Osmond), granddaughter, Amber Seymour, grandsons, Wayne (Callie) Hankinson, Cody (Jenna) Hankinson, and Jordan (Patti Lynn) Hankinson, great granddaughters, Oliva, Tori and Grace, wife Marie, brothers and sisters, Melissa (William) Parsons, Hickman (Ruth) Organ, Archibald (Gladys) Organ, Jessie Thorne, Roger Organ (JoAnn Goosney), Ronnie Organ, Susan (Phillip) Hibbs, Rev. John (Irene) Organ, Ann (Max) Clarke, Wanda Organ, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his, step daughter, Irma Hankinson, brother, Dennis Organ, brother in law, Walter Thorne. Family and friends visited the Holy Spirit Anglican Church in Isle aux Morts on Monday, January 1, 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, January 2 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 3 at 11 a.m., officiated by Rev. Maryrose Colbourne. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to charity of one's choice. ROSE, Blanche
Born: December 8th, 1920
Passed on: December 4th, 2017

On the afternoon of December 4th, with family by her side, Blanche bid her last farewell and departed for her next game of cards, a few days before her ninety seventh birthday. Blanche lived a very full and happy life, always ready for an afternoon of shopping, a dance or a card game. Blanche was the daughter of the late John and Maria Strickland of Rose Blanche. She is predeceased by her three husbands: Garland Hatcher, John Cox, and Harold Rose, all her siblings, and her son Wayne. She is fondly survived by her daughter, Judy (Austin) Hardy, son Ralph (Karen) Cox, daughter-in-law Bernice Hatcher, step-son John Rose, and step-daughters Edith (Randy) Smith, and Debbie (Calvin) Parsons; sister-in-law Lucy Strickland; and grandchildren Garland, Edwin, Wade, Jacqueline, Judy, Johanna, and Justin, their spouses and seven great-grandchildren, and a large circle of extended family and friends. Visitation was held at St. Michael's and All Angel's Anglican Church in Rose Blanche on Tuesday December 5 from 7-9 PM, and Wednesday December 6, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. The funeral service was held on Thursday, December 7 at 11 AM from St. Michael's and All Angels Church, with Rev. Jeffery Petten officiating. Interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road. Flowers are graciously accepted or donations in memory of Blanche can be made to a charity of one's choice. SKINNER, Gertrude Blanche
Born: August 20th, 1927
Passed on: December 7th, 2017

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gertrude Blanche Skinner announced her passing on December 7th at the age of 90 years. Born in Richard's Harbour, NL, Gertrude was the daughter of the late William and Sarah Skinner. She was also predeceased by her husband John, brothers Fred (Annie) Skinner, Ralph Skinner, Henry (Sarah) Skinner, Ned (Edward) Skinner, brother-in-law George, sisters-in-law Bertha (Jack) Osmond, Carrie Knott (John), and Sally. Gertrude leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons Ephraim (Raylene) Skinner of Sudbury, Ont, John (Janet) Skinner of Fredericton, NB, grandchildren Corina (Matthew) Collier of Montreal, QC, Camellia (Fred) Collier of Fredericton, NB, Samantha Skinner of Sudbury, Ont and Corey Skinner of Edmonton, AB, great grandchildren Gordon Collier, Emily Collier and Nash Skinner, sisters-in-law Bessie Skinner of Ramea, NL, special nephew Chesley Skinner of Lethbridge, AB plus large circle of extended relatives and the staff at Crosswinds Senior Complex in Robinsons, NL. The family received friends and family on Friday, December 8th from 7-9 pm and Saturday, December 9th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at East Haven Funeral Home Inc. The funeral service was held on Sunday, December 10th at 2 pm from St. James Anglican Church in Port aux Basques officiated by Rev.
