CHAULK, Priscella Catherine
February 12, 1928 - December 28, 2011
It is with great sadness the family of the late Priscella Catherine Chaulk announces her passing on Wednesday December 28, 2011 at the Dr. Charles Legrow Health Centre Port Aux Basques, at the age of 83 years. Priscella was the daughter of the late Samuel and Caroline Musseau. She was also predeceased by Brother Gordon Musseau (Eileen), Earl Musseau (Emma), and Sister Susan Gale (Fred). Brothers in law Russell Bond, Harry Chaulk, Leslie Chaulk, Wilson Chaulk, James Chaulk, Henry Francis, Sisters in law, Eileen Warren (Clyde), Anne Underhill (Harry) Lillian Musseau. Priscella leaves to mourn with precious memories her husband Fredrick Chaulk of 65 years. Her children Samuel (Norma) Roland (Esther) Norman (Linda) all of Port Aux Basques, Claude (Louise), Kathleen of Ontario and Otto (Cheryl) of Alberta; she will also be sadly missed by her 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, brothers James Musseau, John Musseau (Yvonne) British Columbia and Sister Elizabeth Bond Nova Scotia, Sisters in law Phyllis Francis, Mary Chaulk, Vivian Chaulk, Shelia Chaulk, Nellie Chaulk Nova Scotia, Brother in law Charlie Chaulk (Irene) and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Visitation took place on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Saturday December 31, 2 PM at St. James Anglican Church, Channel officiated by Rev. Louise Richards. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. DEVOE, Vincent Francis
March 19, 1963 - December 14, 2011

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Vincent Devoe announces his passing on Wednesday December 14, at the age of 48 years. Vincent was predeceased by his father Francis Devoe, brother Gary Devoe, and nephew Gary Devoe Jr. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving family; wife Cathy English. His children Ryan Devoe and Amanda Devoe. His mother Joan (Andy). Sisters; Germaine (Kyrl) Gallop Halifax NS, Sylvia (John) Vardy Sackville NS, Jeannie Devoe Halifax NS, Colleen Devoe North Bay ON, Valerie Devoe Keswick ON, brother Cliff Devoe (Sandra) and their son James Upper Ferry. Vincent will also be sadly missed by his best buddy and hunting and fishing partner Karl English, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, coworkers, and many, many friends. Cremation has taken place. Visitation took place on Friday evening at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Upper Ferry. The funeral mass took place on Saturday December 17, 2 PM at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church , officiated by Father Edward Terry. Interment will take place at a later date. DURNFORD, Esau
Francois, NL
1930 - 2011
Passed away on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital Esau Durnford in his 81st year. Leaving to mourn with loving memories wife Annie (Young) of 55 years Francois. Five children: son Barry of Francois, daughter Christine (Tony) of Paducah Kentucky, son Brian (Norma) Francois, son Bud (Bonny) of Francois, son George (Sherri) of St Johns. Seven Grandchildren four great Grandchildren and a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Amelia and Benjamin Durnford. Four brothers and two sisters. Visitation was held at St. Simon St. Jude Anglican Church in Francois on Monday from where the funeral service took place on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mary Rose Colbourne officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery. Special thanks to the doctors and staff at the Calder Health Care Centre and the Western Memorial Regional Hospital and special thanks to Fillatres Funeral Home Corner Brook. HATCH, Mary (Minnie) Elizabeth
May 10, 1916 - December 24, 2011

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary (Minnie) Elizabeth Hatch announces her passing on Saturday December 24, at her residence in Loch Lomond at the age of 95 years. Mary was predeceased by her husband Jordan Hatch, an infant son, and her brother Nelson Miles. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her loving family, son George (Patricia) Hatch Corner Brook, daughters; Joan (Gordon) Grant Torrance California, Phyllis (Gerald) Baird Loch Lomond with whom she resided, Audrey (Raymond) Findlay Port aux Basques, Edythe Doiron Tujunga California. 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, sister in law Margaret Miles, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many, many friends. Visitation took place on Monday from 7-9 PM, and continued on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home. HYNES, Leonard William
February 3, 1923 - December 2, 2011
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Leonard William Hynes announces his passing on Friday December 2, at Legrow Health Center in Port aux Basques at the age of 88 years. Born at Millville, Leonard was the son of the late Martin and Frances Hynes. He was also predeceased by his loving wife Rita in 2009, son William in 2000, grandson Dion, brothers; Patrick and Earl, sisters; Mary, Kathleen, Margaret, Theresa, and Anne. A loving and devoted father, Leonard will be sadly missed by his sons; Kevin (Marie), Leo, Karl (Pam), Brian (Sharon), Doug (Laura), Glen. Daughters; Jean, Margaret (Lloyd), Marlene (Ted) with whom Leonard resided, Patti, Georgina (Jeff), Pamela (Danny). 29 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, sister in law Mabel Hynes, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitation took place on Saturday from 7-9 PM and on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Church of the Precious Blood in St. Andrew's. KENDELL, John Wilfred
Codroy, NL
It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Wilfred Kendell, age 87 announce his passing on December 18, 2011 at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Codroy on October 27, 1924, he was the son of Henry and Frances (nee Carter) Kendell. He was a carpenter all of his working life and was retired from the Parks Division of the Provincial Government. He is survived by his wife Helena; daughter Nora (Greg) Dartmouth, NS; son Leonard (Marie),Codroy; brother Elias (Marcella), Codroy; sister Dorcas, South Branch; five grandchildren: Jonathan, Raylene, Alvin, Angela, and Adam; five great-grandchildren and a large circle of nieces and nephews. He was predeased by his son John Charles; brothers: Ernest, Walter, Herbert Thomas, Herbert Samuel, and sisters Norah Jane and Helen. Funeral Service was held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Codroy, with Rev. Peter Boote officiating. Internment followed at the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. LAUGHLIN, Tara Miriam Olive (nee Taylor)
January 7, 1984 - December 11, 2011
It is with great sadness the family of the late Tara Miriam Olive Laughlin (nee Taylor), announces her passing at the age of 27 years, in Calgary, Alberta. She is remembered by her two sons; Ryley Frosst and Ashton Laughlin, her parents; Abe and Yvonne Taylor, her brother Troy Taylor and her grandmother Miriam Edmunds, as well as countless aunts, uncles, cousins and two nephews; Thomas and Jeffery Taylor. LEAMON, Reginald Charles
May 11, 1932 - December 10, 2011

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Reginald Charles Leamon announces his passing on Saturday December 10th, at the Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 79 years. Born at Port aux Basques, Reginald was the son of the late Charles and Gladys Leamon. He was also predeceased by his father and mother in law Wendell and Harriet Keeping, step brother Clifford Bateman, brother in law Herman Keeping, sisters in law Jean Leamon, Phyllis Keeping. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his devoted wife Phyllis (nee Keeping) of 55 years. Loving father of Wendell (Jennifer) Port aux Basques, Todd (Edith) Rose Blanche, Evelyn (Woody) Keeping Gander NL, Austin (Lori Ann) Airdre Alberta. He will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren; Steve, Sheldon, Shane, Brandon, Charles, Jenna, Bradley, Brady. Great grandchildren; Griffin and Clara, brothers; Clarence Leamon, Charles (Maggie) Leamon, Tom (Shirley) Leamon, Gordie Leamon all of Port aux Basques. Brothers in law; Montford Keeping Port aux Basques, Roy (Rose) Keeping, Harold (Belinda) Keeping of Burnt Islands. Born in Port aux Basques, William was the son of Winnetta and the Late John Lilly. He was also predeased by his brother John M. Lilly. He leaves to mourn his mother Winnetta, three sisters Margaret Kettle (Orrin) NS, Evelyn Lilly, Halifax, Linda Lilly (John) St. Andrews, Son Darryl Cormier, three grandchildren (Glace Bay, NS) Special friend Catherine, one uncle, four aunts, large circle of nieces and nephews, family and friends. John was predeceased by his wife Bessie (nee Keeping) in 2009, his father James E Munden in 1985, his mother Julia Munden in 1940, sister Mable Munden in 1955, brother Ronald Munden in 1965. Father and mother in law Jack and Lillian Keeping, Brothers in law; Walter King, Micky MacDonald, Jim Organ, Ralph Keeping, Jim Keeping, Angus Keeping, sisters in law Juanita Skinner and Margaret Munden. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his family, sisters Emma, Hilda, and Annie. Brothers; Montford, Gilbert (Ruby), Allan (Winnie). Born at Codroy, Ruth was the daughter of the late Thomas and Amelia Moore. She was also predeceased by her husband Willis John Parsons, her daughter Ada MacInnis, twin brothers Benjamin and Edwin. Sisters; May, Ida, Cassie. Sisters in law; Mary and Ivy. Brothers in law; James Reid, Thomas Ford, Charlie Samways, son in law, Philip Edstrom. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children; Doretta (Albert) Samms Codroy, Leona Edstrom, Jacqueline Cumby both of Paradise NL, Wilfred (Bernice) Parsons Goulds NL. Catherine (Larry) Pittman Conception Bay South NL, Suzanne (Calvin) Kettle Port aux Basques. Born at Otter's Point NL, Priscilla was the daughter of the late James and Miriam Green. She was also predeceased by her husband Gilbert Porter in 1995, and brother Louis Greene in 2011. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her extended family; nieces and nephews; Sarah (Eric) Richards, Tony (Madonna) Greene, Eric ( Michelle) Green, Jim (Lillian) Green, Wanda (Tony) Musseau, Gilbert (Cheryl) Lushman, Lorne (Barbara) Porter, Jeff (Daphne) Porter, Frank (Cynthia) Porter, John (Jane) Porter, Rosie Porter, Daphne (John) Lomond, Jim (Heather) Porter, Michelle (Maurice) Rumbolt, George (Mary Ann) Porter, Maisie (George) Payne. SMITH, John Ivany
May 28, 1920 - December 14, 2011

Passed peacefully away on December 14, 2011 at the Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Centre, Port aux Basques, John Smith of Bishop's Falls. He was 91 years of age. Mr. Smith retired from the Canadian National Railway in January 1983. He was predeceased by his wife Evelyn; parents, Emmanuel and May; bothers, William, Munden, Joseph, Ralph and sister Maude. Left to mourn are his son, David (Ruth); daughters, Maude (Walter) Budgell, and Kimberly Smith. Also leaving to mourn are seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Barry Pelley conducted funeral services at the Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in Bishop's Falls on Friday December 16, 2011. Interment followed at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Bond Street. Funeral arrangements were by Hoskins Funeral Home, Bishop's Falls. Pallbearers were Bob Bradbury, Jim Wells, Jim Bradbury, Gerald Dillon, Ellison Hamlyn, and Lloyd Harnum.

STRICKLAND, Dora May Elizabeth
May 13, 1928 - December 9, 2011
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dora May Elizabeth Strickland (nee Bird) announces her passing on Friday December 9, 2011 at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 83 years. Born at Rose Blanche, Dora was the daughter of the late Thomas and Jessie Bird. She was also predeceased by her brothers; Cyril Bird, Louis Bird, Frank Bird, Cecil Bird, Raymond Bird. Step mother Minnie Bird, grandson Randy Strickland, sister in laws; Alice Bird, and Ada Bird. A loving and devoted wife and mother Dora leaves to mourn with precious memories her husband Walter Strickland Sr. of 58 years. Her children; Ruth (David) Smith, Walter Jr. (Leona) Strickland all of Port aux Basques, Linda (James) Strickland - Budden Kitchener ON, Scott (Amanda) Strickland Port aux Basques. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Shane, Ashlee, Marcus, Lucas. Great grandchildren Madison, Layla, Kiyla. Brother Clayton (Alice) Bird Rose Blanche, sister in laws; Frances Bird, Melinda Bird, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitation took place on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Monday December 12, 2 PM at St. James Anglican Church, Channel officiated by Rev. Hannah Dicks. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. VALLIS, Harold
October 10, 1922 - December 5, 2011
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Harold Vallis announce his passing on Monday, December 5th, 2011 at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre, Port aux Basques at the age of 89 years. Born is Coomb's Cove, NL Harold was the son of the late Arthur James Vallis and Ezitte (Vallis) Walters. He was also predeceased by step-father Ernest Walters; step-sister Dora Farrell; brother Eric Walters Sr. sister Pearl Clarke; brother-in-law Dave Clarke Jr., and grandson Michael Walters. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving family: Dad to Eric (Sylvia) Walters, with whom he resided in Harbour le Cou. Uncle to Brad (Valerie) Clarke, Port aux Basques. Poppy to Eric and Erica Walters, Fort McMurray, AB, Eugene (Jennifer), Katie and Lexie Skinner, Fort St. John, BC; brother James (Josie) Vallis, Rose Blanche; sister-in-law Katie Walters, Halifax NS, and a large circle of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Family and friends visited St. Michael's and All Angels Church is Rose Blanche on Wednesday and Thursday from where the funeral service took place on Friday December 9th at 2:00 p.m., Reverend Kris Gosse officiated. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morte Rd. funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques.
