BRAGG, John Sarten
(August 15, 1918 - August 15, 2013)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late John S. Bragg announces his passing on Thursday August 15, at Mountain Hope Manor at the age of 95 years. John was the son of the late Joseph and Debra Bragg. He was also predeceased by his 2 sisters and 2 brothers. He leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories his family; Vera Bragg Isle aux Morts, Melvin (Jo-Anne) Bragg Prince George BC, Avalyn Bragg, Ray Hardy Both of Burnt Islands, Sylvia (Barry) Coleman Isle aux Morts, Jerome (Viola) Bragg Port aux Basques, Johnny (Gussie) Lawrence, Ralph Bragg (Tracey Clarke), Jim Bragg (Peggy Coleman) all of Isle aux Morts and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Visitation took place on Thursday and Friday at Holy Spirit Anglican Church in Isle aux Morts. Funeral services took place on Saturday August 17, 11 AM at Holy Spirit Anglican Church, officiated by Rev. Maryrose Colbourne. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts road. 1925 - 2013
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Maria Clevett, who passed away peacefully at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre in Stephenville Crossing on Monday, August 12, 2013 at the age of 87 years. She was predeceased by her husband Charles (Chappy), Mother, Florence, Father Llewellyn Gillam, son-in-law Ernest Hardy and niece Denise Connors. Left to mourn are sons: Gordon, Port Aux Basques, Wayne (Joyce), Margaree, Lew (Margaret), Campbellton, NB, Stewart, Toronto, Ivan (Wanda), Port Aux Basques, Barry, Toronto; daughters Linda (Bob) Miller, Glace Bay, Diane (Jeff) Musseau, Port Aux Basques, Jacqueline Hardy, Port Aux Basques, Donna, Toronto and Denise (Larry) White, Toronto; 17 grandchildren and one adopted granddaughter; 17 great grandchildren; four brothers; Max , Port aux Basques, Ivan (Ann) Paradise, Arthur, Port Aux Basques, Stanley, Codroy; three sisters, Olive Connors, Port Aux Basques, Louise Clark, Harbour Le Cou, Bernice (Saul) Osmond, Port Aux Basques, as well as a large number of nieces and nephews. COLEMAN, Meta
(March 4, 1928 - August 27, 2013)

Passed away peacefully at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center on Tuesday August 27, Meta Coleman at the age of 85 years. Born at Isle aux Morts, Meta was the daughter of the late Thomas and Frances Foote. She was also predeceased by her husband Churchill, son in law Winston Lawrence, daughter in law Gloria Coleman, Brother George Foote, sisters; Maggie Seymour and Violet Keeping. She leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories sons; Kevin (Elsie) of Isle aux Morts, Tom (Mary) of St. Catherine's ON, Clifford of Margaree, Rev. Canon Edward (Ruth) of Rothesay NB, Donnie (Paula) of Port aux Basques, Darryl (Kathryn) of Red Deer AB, daughters; Rose (Ed) Collier of Milltown Bay De'Espoir, Marilyn (Tommy) Harvey of Isle aux Morts, Norma (Don) Piercey of Red Deer AB, Frances Lawrence of Goose Bay Labrador, Elsie (Troy) of Port aux Basques, 28 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren. Sister Susie Ball of Eastern Passage NS, brother Nathan (Gussie) Foote of St. Catherine's ON, sister in law and best friend Edith King of Isle aux Morts, sister in law Mary Foote of Hamilton ON and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Visitation took place on Wednesday from 7-9 PM and continued on Thursday from Holy Spirit Anglican Church in Isle aux Morts. Funeral services took place on Friday August 30, 3 PM at Holy Spirit Anglican Church, officiated by Rev. Canon Edward Coleman, interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road. It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Currie of Rose Blanche announces his passing on Friday August 30, 2013 at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 89 years following a brief illness. Born in Rose Blanche, James was the son of the late William and Charlotte Currie. He was also predeceased by his brothers Wallace, Matthew, and sister Katie. James leaves to mourn with a lifetime of fond and precious memories his devoted wife Hannah (nee Styles) of 66 years marriage, their son Sammy (Gerri) of Onatrio, sisters; Josie of Port Marion NS, Gladys of Whitney Pier NS, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Visitation took place on Saturday from 7-9 PM and continued on Sunday and Monday at St. Michael's And All Angel's Anglican Church in Rose Blanche. Funeral services took place on Tuesday September 3, 2 PM at St. Michael's And All Angel's Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard, interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts road. Donations in memory of James can be made to the charity of one's choice. HANN, Shirley Laura (nee Seaward)
(March 7, 1941 - August 23, 2013)

On Friday, August 23, 2013 Shirley Hann (72) passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord, at Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Center surrounded by her loving family. Born at Channel Port aux Basques, NL, she was the eldest daughter of the late James (Frances) Seaward. Shirley was an accountant with T.J. Hardy Co. PAB and Texaco Oil Co. Dartmouth, N.S., later became owner operator of a flower shop in Ship Harbour N.S. Where she lived with her husband 39 years, until they both retired. She was predeceased by her husband Berkley on January 1, 2006, father James Seaward, mother Frances Seaward, sister-in-laws Joan Seaward, Sharon Seaward, brothers-in-law James McLennon, George Hann, nieces Rhonda Seaward, (baby) Glenda Kendall, nephews Jason Seaward, (baby) James Osmond. Leaving to mourn with loving and precious memories her loving family; brothers William (Audrey) Seaward, Maxwell (Eleanor) Seaward, Robert Seaward, Eric (Lora) Seaward Seattle U.S., sisters Phyllis (Robert) Cox, Viola (Lloyd) Osmond of PAB, Donna-Lee (Lloyd) McGuire N.B., foster daughter Daisy Whynot (Donny), grandchildren: Raymond, Trisha, Tara, great-grandson Carson, sister and brother-in-law, Sheila & Arthur Commeau of Digby, N.S., sister-in-law Evelyn Hann and a large circle of cousins, nieces, nephews and many many friends. A special thank you to her two sisters Phyllis and Viola for all loving care and support given her for the pass 18 months. Also for her visits and time spent with her loving sister Donna-Lee and her loving homecare giver Audrey Seaward. A big thank you to Nurse Kelly Hatcher for visits and support and encouragement. Visitation took place on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home.The funeral service to celebrate her life took place at the Faith Pentecostal Tabernacle on Tuesday August 27th, 2013 2 PM with Pastor Jamie Warren officiating. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Shirley Margaret Hann (nee Sheaves) announces her passing on Saturday August 31, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 81 years. Born at Port aux Basques, Shirley was the daughter of the late Clement and Eliza Jane Sheaves, she was also predeceased by infant son Roy and infant daughter Shirley, her husband Clyde in 1998. She leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories her children; Alvin (Sharon) Sheaves Port aux Basques, Jayne Hann St. John's NL, Michelle (Corey) Pike Corner Brook. Grandchildren; Cory, Sheldon, Trevor, Dustin, Holly, Joey, step grandson Cameron, and great granddaughter Rosalie, brothers; Roy (Edna) Sheaves, Ron (Raylene) Sheaves all of Port aux Basques, sister Eileen (Amos) White Corner Brook, cousin and special friend Shirley MacDonald Port aux Basques and a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Visitation took place on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral service took place on Monday September 2, 2 PM at St. James Anglican Church, Channel officiated by Rev. Canon Hannah Dicks. To honour Shirley's wishes cremation followed and the interment will take place at a later date. KENDELL, Elias William
(September 14, 1931 - August 20, 2013)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Elias William Kendell, age 81 announce his passing on August 20, 2013 at the Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center in Port aux Basques after battling a dreadful disease. Born in Codroy on September 14, 1931, he was the son of Henry and Frances (nee Carter) Kendell. He was skilled in many occupations throughout his life, enjoyed fishing, hunting, berry picking and nature itself. Elias is survived by his wife Marcella; daughters Barb (Bob); Marilyn (Anthony); Nora (Jason); Four grandsons: Matthew, Colby, Mitcheal, and Jayden all of Grand Prairie, AB; sister Dorcas (South Branch); Sister in law Helena (PAB); and a large circle of nieces and nephews. Elias is predeceased by brothers John, Ernest, Walter, Herbert Thomas, Herbert Samuel and sisters Norah Jane and Helen. Funeral service was held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Codroy on Friday August 23, 2 PM officiated by Rev. Canon Hannah Dicks, interment followed at the church cemetery. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Frances Osmond announces her passing on Saturday August 17, 2013 at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 91 years. Born in Cape LeHune, NL, Frances was the daughter of the late George W. and Maria J. (nee Dominie) Pink. She is predeceased by her husband Arthur Osmond in 1986, brother John Pink, sisters Hilda Pink Short, Rebecca Sheaves, son-in-law John Rose, sister-in-law Evelyn Pink, brothers-in-law John Pink, Harold Sheaves Sr., Wilson Osmond, Jessie and sister-in-law Theresa Osmond, Dorman and sister-in-law Gertrude Warren. Leaving to mourn with many fond and precious memories; daughter Eileen (Marvin) Ingram Port aux Basques, son Melvin (Jennifer) Osmond Paradise, brothers-in-law Saul (Bernice) Osmond, Walter (Gladys) Osmond both of Port aux Basques and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many, many friends. Visitation to take place on Sunday from 7-9PM, Monday from 2-4 and 7-9PM at East Haven Funeral Home. SPENCER, William (Bill) Robert
1949-2012
Pasadena, NL
August 26, 1949 - August 27, 2012

Passed peacefully away in the Palliative Care Unit of Western Memorial Regional Hospital with his family at his bedside on Monday, August 27, 2012 following a brief but courage battle with cancer, William Robert Spencer of Pasadena, NL at the age of 63 years. Bill was born in Cul de Sac West, a small, now resettled community on the southwest Coast of the Province, son of the late Samuel and Esther Spencer (nee Hardy). He grew up in Port aux Basques and then worked for more than 35 years with the Provincial Department of Works, Services and Transportation. Bill was predeceased by his brother Sam and sister Millie. He leaves to mourn with loving memories his wife of 41 years, Mary (nee Williams), sons Robert (Tammy) and Michael (Gerarda), daughter Ann Marie Noel (David), precious grandchildren Allie Spencer, Lilianne Noel, Damien and Alysha Collings, siblings Sue Edmonds (Leroy), Eileen Dingwell (Cliff), Margaret Crewe (Max), Pearl Francis (Joe), Cecil (Roseanna), Gary, Barry (Sandra), David (Joanne), Paul (Tracey), sisters-in-law Lorraine Patten (John Roil) and Winnie Hoyt (John), together with numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and a large circle of friends. As Bill had requested, cremation has taken place. Visitation at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, Corner Brook on Wednesday, August 29 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A memorial gathering will take place in Fillatre’s Chapel on Thursday, August 30 at 2:00 pm followed by inurnment at the Anglican Cemetery, Pasadena. Flowers are gratefully accepted. WARREN, Bertha Rebecca
(January 20, 1914 - August 26, 2013)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bertha Warren announces her passing on Monday August 26, 2013 at Western Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook at the age of 99 years. Born at Francois, Bertha was the daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth Durnford. She was also predeceased by her brothers; James Durnford, John Edgar Durnford, William Durnford, sisters; Melida Durnford, Myrtle Green, Louise Meade, Amelia Baggs, Alice Fischer, son Garland Warren, daughters Elizabeth Kane, Annie Porter, grandson James Kane. Bertha leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories her family; daughter Dorothy Musseau, brother Corwin Durnford (Vera), sister Mary Durnford, sister-in-law Gladys Durnford, special grandson Calvin Musseau (Rose) whom she raised since he was a baby, also left to mourn are 18 grandchildren 48 great-grandchildren, 41 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-grandchild and a large circle of nieces, nephews and special friends. Visitation took place on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Friday August 30, 2013 11 AM at St. James Anglican Church Channel, officiated by Rev. Canon Hannah Dicks.
