STOCKLEY, ELIZABETH (BETTY)
June 12,1932 - Aug. 12, 2009

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Elizabeth (Betty) Stockley (nee Fiander) announces her passing on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 77 years. Betty was born and lived most her life in Codroy Valley then resided in Port aux Basques for the past five years. Betty was the daughter of the late Isaac and Ethel Fiander. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Pleamon in 1987; brothers, George, Jack and Vincent; sisters, Dorothy and Ruth. She leaves to mourn with loving and precious memories her children, Linda (Tom Whiffen) of Fox Harbour Sandra (Jim Goodick) of Shelburne, N.S., David (Theresa) of Codroy Valley, Paula (Gary Hammond) of Sackviile, N.S.; cherished grandchildren, Todd Whiffen (Tracy), Chad Whiffen, David Downey (Heather), Amy Downey and their father Michael Downey, Sandra (Jeremy O'Quinn), Joanna Stockley (Jonathan Thorne), Mathew Stockley, Luke Hammond and Emily Hammond; three precious great-grandchildren, Nathan Best, Alexander Whiffen and Owen Downey; sisters, Hilda Kendell, Vera Kendell, Marie (Jack Dominie); brother, Ralph Fiander (Marion); sisters-in-law, Kay Fiander, Addie Fiander, Marina (Lynn Boyd) and Joan Boyd; brother-in-law, Roy Stockley (Evelyn); moth-er-in-law, Gertrude Stockley (Summerford); also leaving to mourn lifetime close friends, Irene (Eric Kendell), Cathy and Diane, Curtis and Cindy Butt and their three beautiful children Tristan, Jackson and Daniel (who treated Mom like family). She also leaves to mourn many nieces and nephews. Betty was very well liked and made friends easily over the many years of volunteer service with her church and community. She enjoyed bingo, card games and having a good laugh and leaves to mourn a large circle of friends from Port aux Basques to St. John's. Visitation took place on Thursday 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home and Friday 2-9 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church, Codroy. Funeral services took place on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church, Codroy officiated by Rev. Peter Boote. Donations in Betty's memory can be made to the Holy Trinity Anglican Church Memorial Fund, or to the Dr. H Bliss Murphy Center. FRANCIS, SUSAN
Feb. 22, 1920 - Aug. 13, 2009
Susan Francis
passed away peacefully at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques on Aug. 13, 2009 at the age of 89 years. Susan was predeceased by her father and mother, Morgan and Mary Jane Keeping; brother, James Keeping; sister, Julies Lomond; and husband, Russell Francis. Left to mourn are her children, Gord (Rita) Francis, Hubert (Martina) Francis, Mary (Norman) Rex, William (Vera Mae) Francis, John (Roxanne) Francis, George (Leanda) Francis, Edna (Stephen) Wall, Diane (Neville) Gosse, James Francis; and a large circle of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and many friends. Visitation took place on Aug. 13 from 7-9 p.m., and on Aug. 14, 15 and 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Monday, Aug. 17, 11 a.m. at St. James' Anglican Church, Channel officiated by Rev. Mary Ann Boote. INGRAM, JACQUELINE SELINA
Sept. 5, 1939 -Aug. 16, 2009

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Jacqueline Ingram announces her passing at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009 at the age of 69 years. She was the daughter of the late John and Jessie Crewe. She leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories her husband, Douglas Ingram; daughter, Nikki (Johnny Sheaves); granddaughters, Jami and Jodi Sheaves; sister, Kathleen (Raymond) Dolomount; nieces; nephews; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and a large circle of friends. Visitation took place on Aug. 17 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. and on Aug. 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. MACARTHUR, QUENTIN
Doyles, NL
July 1, 1952-Aug. 17, 2009

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Quentin MacArthur announces his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook on Monday, Aug. 17, 2009 at the age of 57 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his children, Cavelle (Tony Samms) of Oromocto, N.B., Greg, Tracy and Greta, all of Ontario; nine grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Desmond (Sybil) of Port au Choix, Brendan (Lydwena) of Searston, Allan (Joan) of Upper Ferry, Helena (Greg) of Upper Ferry, Lydwine (Jesse Morneau) of Geraldton, Ont., Carina (Dan) of St. Andrew's, Blaine of Eastern Passage; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends. He was predeceased by parents, Frank and Margaret MacArthur. Friends visited St. Ann's RC Church in Codroy Valley on Tuesday evening and Wednesday, from where the funeral service took place on Thursday, Aug. 20 at 10:30 a.m., Father Ed Terry officiating. Internment followed at the church cemetery. As expression of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted or donations may be made to the charity of ones choice.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bessie Elizabeth Munden announces her passing on Monday, Aug. 17, 2009 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques at the age of 81 years. Bessie was predeceased by her father, John W. Keeping in 1974; and her mother, Lillian J. Keeping (nee Ransome) in 1989; brothers, Angus W. Keeping in 1995, Ralph Keeping in 2000, James Keeping in 2007; and sis-ter, Juanita Skinner in 2008. She leaves to mourn with precious memories, her loving husband, John C. Munden; brothers, George (Cynthia) Keeping, Brigus, Nfld., Frederick (Elsie) Keeping, Port aux Basques, Hughie (Geraldine) Keeping, Burnt Islands; and sister, Selina Priddle, Isle aux Morts; sisters-in-law, Ethel Keeping, Burnt Islands, Linda Keeping, Port Colbourne, Ont., and Ruth Keeping, Burnt Islands; brother-in-law, Donald Skinner, Isle aux Morts and a large circle of extended family, nieces, nephews and many friends. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Phoebe Anderson announces her passing on Monday, Aug. 17, 2009 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques at the age of 59 years. Born at Rose Blanche, Phoebe was the daughter of the late Nelson and Bessie Anderson. She was also predeceased by her common-law spouse, Charles Cox and brother-in-law, Leo Parsons. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her brother and sisters, Hubert (Selina) Anderson, Isle aux Morts, Gloria Parsons, Port aux Basques, Pearl (Joseph) Rumbolt, Rose Blanche, Eva Anderson (Bill Spicer), Rose Blanche, Mildred (Ivan) Spencer, Port aux Basques, Elizabeth (Johnny) Snow, Port aux Basques, Marie (Wilson) Bond of Burnt Islands; 22 nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends. Visitation took place on Aug. 18 and 19 at St. Michael's and All Angels Anglican Church in Rose Blanche. SPENCER, WALTER I.
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Walter I. Spencer announce his passing on Aug. 21, 2009 at the Langley Hospice in British Columbia at the age of 57 years. Born on July 8, 1952 at Channel Hospital, Walter was the son of the late William and Annie Spencer of Channel, Port aux Basques. Walter was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Darlene Clevett (nee Skeard); sister, Ruby Butt (nee Spencer); nephew, Todd Spencer and his loving mother and father-in-law, Roy and Sadie Skeard (nee Kettle). He leaves to mourn with precious memories his wife, Louise (nee Skeard); his daughter and son-in-law, Louanne and Edwin; his son, William; three grandchildren, Leia, Darlene and Tyler; step-grandchild, Emily; sisters, Fran (Dave) Bussey, Anne (Ivan) Gillam, Heather (Dennis) Spencer-Fenton; brother, Roy (Muriel) Spencer; sisters and brothers-in-law, Boss and Delphine Dewar (Skeard), John and Margaret LeRiche (Skeard); 15 nieces and nephews; and a large circle of friends. Prior to Walter's return to Newfoundland, he was cremated and the family held a Celebration of Life gathering and a private memorial service at his daughter, Louanne's home where he spent the majority of his time in his later days. Upon his return to his native soil, there will be a funeral service held at St. James' Anglican Church in Channel-Port aux Basques on Friday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m., after which Walter will be laid to rest with his mother and father in the Anglican Cemetery on Barchois Hill. The service will be officiated by Rev,Clayton Billard and funeral arrangements will be in the care of East Haven Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Daffodil House which provides accommodations and meals for cancer patients and their caregivers who must travel to St. John's for treatment.

Born at Port aux Basques, Morgan was the son of the late John and Jane White. He was predeceased by his wife, Naomi; son, Lawrence; son-in-law, Garland Strickland; sisters, Mary Lillington, Ann March, Aneitha Millard and Edna White; brothers, Jim, Ernest, Herbert and Bill Emberley; and brother-in-law, Lawrence Anderson. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children, Vivian (Paul), Margaret, Kathleen (Lenny), Harold, Morgan (Debbie), Stephen (Kara) and Carol-Ann (Bruce); eight grandsons, five granddaughters and four great-grandsons; sister, Shirley Wadden; brother-in-law, Herbert Keeping; and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation took place on Aug. 25 and 26 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Salvation Army Citadel, Grand Bay, officiated by Captains Paul and Michelle Blake. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Francis Gale announces his passing at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009 at the age of 69 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving wife Mamie (Mary H.) Gale; daughter Corinne Samms (husband Carl, their children Carla and Ryan); son Glen (wife Laurie and their daughter Marissa); predeceased by daughter Diana Downey (May 1997, survived by her husband Bernard and their son Trevor); his mother Mary Catherine Gale; brothers Kevin Gale (Joan, Scott, Courtney), Melvin Gale (Colleen, Stephanie, Melanie and Adam) and Brian Gale (Lorna, Jeffrey, Megan and Mark); sisters-in-law Marg Chaisson of Corner Brook (Dan, Linda, Tony, Anne, Bill, Walter and families), Agnes and Hubert Walters of the Codroy Valley (Paul, Patsi, Jessica, Jeffrey and Jason), the Porter family (Debbie, Harold, Stephen, Keith, Susan and Lisa), the O'Quinn families (Steve, Mike, Pat, Leo, Ann, Alex and Paul), along with a large circle of other relatives and friends. Following cremation at Humber Valley Crematorium in Pasadena, a memorial service took place at St. Ann's Church in Codroy Valley on Aug. 28 at 1 p.m., interment followed at St. Thomas Cemetery in Great Codroy. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Western Memorial Hospital Palliative Care or the Canadian Cancer Society.

It is with great sadness that we, the family of the late Sarah Keeping, announce her passing on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009 at the Charles LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques in her 89th year. A dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur Keeping; parents Andrew and Rachel King; son Chester Keeping; grandson Godfrey Keeping; great-granddaughter Lisa Hatcher; brothers Norman, James, Raleigh, Thomas and Eric King; sisters Rita and Holly King; and daughter-in-law Florence Keeping. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories sons John (Linda) Keeping of Burnt Islands, Arthur (Kate) Keeping of Burnt Islands and Eric (Frances) Keeping of Glace Bay, N.S.; daughter-in-law Violet Keeping of Eastern Passage; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and wide circle of family and friends. Visitation took place on Aug. 27 and 28 at St. George's Anglican Church in Burnt Islands from where the funeral service was held on Saturday, Aug. 29 at 2 p.m. with Rev. George Critchell officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Rd. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques.
