LORRAINE MARGARET JANES
November 9,1938-August 10, 2008

It is with great sadness that the family of Lorraine Janes announce her passing on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at the age of 69 years. Born in Corner Brook, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Maud (nee Osmond) Dalton. She moved to Codroy at the age of five. Lorraine was also predeceased by her husband Fred in 2004 and infant daughter Lorina. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her family: sons George Dalton, Ted (Juanita) Janes, Don (Darlene) Janes, Randy (Brenda) Janes and Chris (Lisa) Janes of Codroy and Doug (Judy) Janes of London, Ont.; daughters Gloria (Ash) Janes of Stephenville and Barb (George) Fiander of Bedford, N.S. She was a loving 'Nanny Fred' to Madonna, Matthew, Niles Natasha, Isaiah and Donald of Codroy; Bonnie (Ray) and Wanda (Darren) of Port aux Basques; Candace and Curtis of Bedford, N.S.; Megan (Sheldon) and Vicki (Jason) of Kitchener, Ont.; and a great-grandmother to Damien, Riley, Nicholas, Steward, Keegan, Emma and Nathan. Left behind also are special little friend Nikki, sister Marion (Gerald) Knott of Codroy, sister-in-law Clara Samms of Stephenville, brothers-in-law Clem and Ralph (Ruth) Janes of Codroy, and a wide circle of friends and relatives. Following cremation, the memorial service was held at Holy Trinity Church in Codroy at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, officiated by Rev. Critchell. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. The family guest book may be signed by visiting www.fillatre.ca
Lorraine's family is expressing their heartfelt appreciation and deepest thanks to the individuals who have helped and supported them in their day of sorrow.

M. DION CORMIER
November 5,1971 - August 11, 2008

It is with great sadness that the family of the late M. Dion Cormier announce his sudden passing on Monday, Aug. 11, 2008 at the age of 36 years. Dion is predeceased by his grandfather, Gerald Cormier. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his family: parents, Martin and Violet Cormier of Port aux Basques; sister, Michelle (Ernest) Coley of Isle aux Morts; niece and nephew, Jessie and Shawn Cormier, both of Isle aux Morts; grandparents, Clifford and Irene Skeard of Port aux Basques; grandmother, Elizabeth MacNeil of Port aux Basques; step-grandfather, James MacNeil of Port aux Basques; special friends, Dorothy, Pamela and Robert Osmond; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Following cremation, visitation will take place on Thursday, Sept. 4 from 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. Funeral services are to be held on Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, 2 p.m. at Wesley United Church, Channel, officiated by Father Lee Lainey. Internment of ashes will follow at the RC Cemetery, TCH. RAYMOND DOWNEY SR.
May 31,1928 - August 14, 2008

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Raymond Downey Sr. announces his passing on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008 at the age of 80 years. Born in O'Regans, he was the son of the late John and Maude Downey. He is predeceased by brothers, Frank Downey, Leo Downey and Edward Downey. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his family, wife, Ida of 52 years marriage; son Raymond (Denise) Downey Jr.; grandchildren, Corey Downey of Halifax, N.S., Amanda Downey of Fort McMurray, Alta., and Rebecca Downey of O'Regans; brothers, Michael (Ruth) Downey Sr., George (Marie) Downey, Tom Downey all of O'Regans, Gus (Blanche) Downey of Millville and Hyacinth Downey of Dryden, Ont.; sisters, Theresa Prosser of Sydney, N.S., Margaret (Bernie) O'Gorman of Stephenville and Rose Brake of Catalina and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. Following cremation, visitation took place on Sunday 5-9 p.m. at St. Anne's Church, Upper Ferry. Funeral services took place on Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne's Church, Upper Ferry. Officiated by Father Lee Lainey. Internment followed at Mount St. Thomas Cemetery, Upper Ferry. Funeral arrangements are in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300. REUBEN SPICER
November 29,1952 - August 17, 2008

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Reuben Spicer announces his passing on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008 at the age of 55 years. Born in Rose Blanche he was the son of the late Henry and Cassie Spicer. He is predeceased by brothers, Ross, Donald, Wilfred and Clifford Spicer. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his family, wife, Verna of Rose Blanche; son, Derrick Spicer of Alberta; daughter, Starline Spicer of Port aux Basques; stepson, Josh Best of Halifax, M.S.; step-daughters, Shanna Fiander and Holly Fiander both of Port aux Basques; grandchildren, Braden and Christian; brothers and sisters, William (Eva) Spicer of Rose Blanche, Winston (Darlene) Spicer of Truro, Maud (John) Dobbin, Roland (Leah) Spicer, Roy (Maxine) Spicer, Pierce Spicer, Minnie (Rod) Francis, Barry (Elizabeth) Spicer all of Rose Blanche and Scott (Darlene) Spicer of Glace Bay; mother-in-law, Melita Best of Rose Blanche; sisters-in-law, Nina Spicer of Rose Blanche, Gloria (Willie) Mauger of St. David's, Dianne (Larry) Mauger of Rose Blanche, Ethel (John Jr,) Hardy of Rose Blanche and Trudy (Rick) of Ontario and a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Visitation took place on Wednesday evening at St. Michael's and all Angels Church in Rose Blanche. Funeral services were held on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, 2 p.m. at St. Michaels and All Angels Church, Rose Blanche, officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. MALCOLM MURDOCH CAMPBELL
May 16,1936 - August 20, 2008

It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Malcolm Campbell, Loch Lomond, Codroy Valley, Newfoundland, on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques at the age of 72 years. He was predeceased by wife, Mildred (nee McNeil); son, Michael; parents, John and Mary (nee O'Quinn) Campbell; brother, Johnny; sisters, Bernadette and Mary Celestine "Stella." He will be sadly missed by daughters, Barbara AuCoin (Stanley) and Martha Anderson (Corwin); son, Arthur (Kathy); grandchildren, Jonathon, Samantha, Leslie, Jasmine, Jamie, Kelly and Nicole; greatgrandchildren, Madison, Kyle, Hunter, Kayla, Tyler, Kelsey, Dukota, Joshua and Jadon; brother, Fred Campbell; sisters, Joan O'Gorman, Marie MacArthur (Sears) and Jessie (nee Campbell) MacArthur, along with a large circle of other relatives and friends. Friends visited St. Ann's Church in Upper Ferry from where the funeral services took place on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 10 a.m. with Father Lainey officiating. Interment followed at Mount St. Thomas Roman Catholic Cemetery.
Sadly missed by family and friends. "Rest in peace Dad, we love you always."

DOROTHY BARRY
July 28th, 1963 - August 29th, 2008

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dorothy Barry announce her passing on Friday, Aug. 29, 2008 at the age of 45 years. Dorothy was predeceased by her father, William Barry; uncles, Herbert Penny, Michael Ryan, Murdock Aucoin, Ambrose (Bride) Ryan and her Aunt, Carrie Ryan. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her loving family, mother, Wilhelmina; brothers, Charles (Maureen), Kippen's, Leo, Irishtown; sisters, Mary Barry, Irishtown, Rita (Gordon) Francis, Port aux Basques; niece, Shianne and nephew, Kyle; aunts, Agnes Penny, Irishtown, Lucy Aucoin, O'Regans (with whom Dorothy resided), Bridgette (Archie) Maclsaac, South Branch and Eileen (Ambrose) Wall, Coal Brook; uncles, Edward (Shirley) Ryan, Wilfred Ryan, Joachim (Marcie) Ryan, all of O'Regans and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Visitation took place on Sunday and Monday at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Upper Ferry. Funeral mass took place at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. officiated by Father Lee Lainey. Interment followed at Mount St. Thomas Roman Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300. www.easthavenfuneralhome.com
