ANDREWS, Lizzie
Port Aux Basques, NL

Passed away peacefully at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Thursday, August 3rd, 2006, Lizzie Andrews, at the age of 95 years. Born in Cape La Hune, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Elizabeth Baggs. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her loving sons: Frank (Verna), Port aux Basques, Calvin (Juanita), Gander, Claude (Yordest), Pasadena, George (Gloria), Labrador City; sister Marie Louisbourg, NS; nine grandchildren: Michelle, Michael, Claudette, Celeste, Dwight, Ashley, Cavell, Sarah and Stephen; six great-grandchildren: Andrew, Christopher, Connor, Riley, Xavier and Austin, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends from Extended Care at LeGrow Health Centre. She was predeceased by her husband Frank Andrews (July 1983); sisters: Ethel, Mary Ann, Alice and Irene; brothers: John and Jim. Visitation took place from Fillatre's Funeral Home on Thursday 7-9 pm and Friday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral Service was held on Saturday, August 5th at 1:00 pm from St. James Anglican Church with Canon Hugh Fudge officiating. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. FORD, Mary Magdalene
1923 - 2006

Passed away peacefully at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Wednesday, August 9th, 2006 Mary "Maggie" Magdalene Ford of Port aux Basques, at the age of 83 years. She leaves to mourn sister Regis Battiste and family; sisters-in-law: Kathleen LeRiche and family, Georgina LeRiche and family, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Maggie was predeceased by her husband Edgar Ford (1991); parents Sarah and James LeRiche; sisters: Murial (Arthur) Parsons, Elizabeth (Leo) Bowdridge; brothers: Alexander Israel LeRiche, Raymond LeRiche, Benjamin LeRiche; niece Janet Searl and brother-in-law Willard Battiste. Visitation took place at Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port Aux Basques. The Funeral Service was held at Wesley United Church on Saturday, August 12th at 2:00 pm, officiated by Reverend Ritchie. Interment followed at Wesley United Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. COURTNEY, Cordelia
1918 - 2006

Passed away peacefully at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 Cordelia Courtney of Port aux Basques at the age of 88 years. Born at Petites, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Maud (nee Tufts) Mauger. She was also predeceased by grandsons, Tommy and Robbie Deveaux; great-grandson, Eddie Marr; and her sisters, Evelyn (Stephen) Morrison, Glace Bay, NS and Audrey (Ronald) Rickard of Sudbury, ON. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her loving family: husband, Maxwell Courtney of 63 years marriage; son, Danny (Carmelita) Conception Bay South, NL; daughters, Ruth Deveaux (George Mauger) Rose Blanche, NL, and June (Ray) Woolridge Kitchener, ON; grandchildren, Grant Courtney, Cara Courtney, Wendy Marr, Shawnda Franson, David Woolridge and Kari Woolridge; 10 grandchildren; brother, Raymond (Viola) Mauger Port aux Basques; sisters, Lydia (Wilfred) Voutier Sudbury ON, Jessie (Fred) Kipping Riverview, NB, Dora (John) Cox Sydney, NS, Marie Cole Middleton, NS, and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation took place on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Friday, August 11, 2006, 2 p.m. at Wesley United Church, officiated by Rev. Patricia Ritchie. Interment followed at Wesley United Cemetery, Trans-Canada Highway. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques 695-2300.

DAVIS, Rose Lorraine
1915 - 2006

Passed peacefully away on Friday, August 11, 2006 Rose Lorraine Davis, age 91. She was the daughter of the late Henrietta and Percy Jensen. Lorraine was born in Sagona, NL, but grew up in Harbour Breton. After training as a schoolteacher she moved to Port aux Basques  where she met and married Isaac Davis. They resided in Port aux Basques for 51 years and were an essential part of the community through education and various volunteer organizations. Lorraine moved to Halifax in 1995 after the death of Isaac. She was predeceased by her daughter, Trudy in 1951 and son-in-law, George Richards in 2002. Lorraine will be missed and fondly remembered by children: Suzanne, Sechelt BC, George (Marilyn) North Sydney NS, Ruth (Hal) Brent, Halifax NS; grandchildren, Zoe (Quentin), Ingrid (Mike), Stefan, Michael and Reg; great-grandchildren, John, Nicholas, Isaac, and Ryan. A memorial service was held at St. James' Anglican Church, Halifax on Friday, August 18 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Rod Gillis officiating. Interment will take place in Port aux Basques at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to St. James' Anglican Church, Halifax or St. James' Anglican Church, Port aux Basques. Arrangements are under the directions of Cruikshank's Halifax Funeral Home and East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques.

GREEN, Harriet Eileen
1921 - 2006

Passed away peacefully at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Monday, August 14, 2006 surrounded by her loving family, Harriet Eileen Green of Port aux Basques at the age of 85 years. Born in Port aux Basques she was the daughter of the late Charles and Maude (nee Battiste) Ford. She was predeceased by her husband, George Robert Green; son, Charlie Green; brothers, Thomas, Joseph, Gerald, Edgar and Wilson; and sisters, Lena, Lillian, Esther, Elizabeth and Pearl. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her family, son, Kenneth (Minnie) Green, Florida USA; daughter, Esther Green (Roland Chaulk), daughter-in-law, Florence Green all of Port aux Basques, grandchildren, Gail (Victor) Osmond, Glenn (Cindy) Green, Georgina (Justin) Short, Mark Green (Tara), Paul Green and Todd (Sherry) Strickland; great-grandchildren, Charley, Ross, Bailey, Benjamin, Shannaw and Marshall; sister, Betty Battiste; brothers-in-law, Austin Green, Nelson Ingram; sisters-in-law, Alice Ford, Hannah Ford and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Visitation took place on Tuesday and Wednesday at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Thursday, August 17, 2 p.m. at St. James' Anglican Church Channel, officiated by Reverend Canon Hugh Fudge. Interment followed at St. James' Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. Harriett was a kind, loving witty woman whose sense of humour and kindness will be sadly missed in the lives of everyone who was blessed to have known her. Our mother, grandmother and big Nan will remain in our hearts forever.

WALL, John
1950 - 2006

Passed away peacefully at the Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Centre on Saturday August 19, 2006, John Wall of Cape Ray at the age of 56 years. He was predeceased by his mother, Winnifred Wall; father, Bernard Osmond; sisters, Mabel, Annie, Winnifred, and brother-in-law, Maxwell Pearce. He leaves to mourn his daughter, Michelle (Ken Blunden) of Ontario; son Dennis of St. John's and grandchildren, Mackenzie and Madison. Sisters, Elizabeth Pearce, Reta (Alex) Janes, Melinda (Isaac) Osmond, Marie (Gord) McNeil all of Cape Ray, Mildred (Earl) Greene of Gaultois, Brothers Wallace (Ester) of PEI, Robert (Marjorie), Ivan (Dorothy) of Cape Ray and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation took place at St. John the Evangelist Church, Cape Ray. Funeral services took place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at St. John the Evangelist Church officiated by Rev. George Critchell. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

1913 - 2006

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 25, 2006 Hilda Gertrude Ryan of O'Regans at the age of 92 years. Born in England she was the daughter of the late Robert and Gertrude Wharrick. She was also predeceased by her husband, Paul Ryan; grandson, Garland Ryan; and daughter-in-law, Betty Ryan; brothers and sisters, Harry (Kay) Wharrick, Arthur (Shelia) Wharrick, Frank Wharrick, Maggie (Charlie) Medd and Mary (Norman) Overfield; sister-in-law, Ivy Wharrick. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Tony Ryan, O'Regans; Chris (Wanda) Ryan, Fort McMurray, Alberta; Pamela Ennis, London, Ontario; Paulette Ryan, Port aux Basques; Nigel (Ivy) Ryan, Fort McMurray, Alberta and Prunella Ryan, Scarborough, Ontario. Grandchildren: Eugene (Jennifer), Charlene (Phillip), Mark (Marcelene) and Nigel; great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Allan, Carrington and Channing; brothers, John Wharrick, Sidney (Maureen) Wharrick all of Yorkshire, England; sister-in-law, June Ryan, Toronto, Ontario and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation took place on Tuesday, August 29 at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Upper Ferry. Funeral mass took place on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church officiated by Father Lee Lainey. Interment followed at Mount St. Thomas Cemetery. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ambrose Ryan announce his passing on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in his 72nd year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his devoted wife, Bride; daughters, Helena Harvey (Gordon), Jeffrey's, Diane Strugnell (Andy), St. John's, Carmel Samms (Kevin), Codroy, Sandra Hilliard, O'Regans, Joanne Blackmore (Ian) Sarnia, ON; sons, Eric (Helena) BC, Robert (Tammy), Fort McMurray; 18 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Lorna Ryan, Green's Harbour; brothers, Edward (Shirley), Wilfred, Joachim (Marcie) all of O'Regans, sisters: Lucy AuCoin, O'Regans, Agnes Penny, Philemenia Barry, Irishtown, Bridget MacIsaac (Archie) South Branch; brothers-in-law, Frank Downey, John Downey (Vivian), Gerald Downey (Gerardine) all of St. Fintan's, Walter Downey (Linda) Stephenville; sisters-in-law, Helena Patry (Alfred), Rita Quilty, Highlands, as well as a large circle of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. He is predeceased by two sons, Andy and Lawerance; baby daughter; parents, Catherine and William Ryan; brother, Mike Ryan. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Ann's Church, with Father Lee Lainey officiating. Interment followed at St. Thomas Cemetery, Upper Ferry. Arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. The family guest book may be signed through our website www.fillatre.ca

LERICHE, Keith D.
1958 - 2006

Passed away at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, Keith Douglas LeRiche of Port aux Basques at the age of 47 years. He was predeceased by his father, Raymond LeRiche in December of 2001; brother, Bobby LeRiche; and brother-in-law, Adrian Beaumont. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving family; his mother, Georgina LeRiche; brothers and sisters, Norma (Samuel) Chaulk, Port aux Basques; Dianne (Larry) Peckford, Inuvik, NWT; Ruby LeRiche Beaumont, St. John's, NL; Joan (Jerome) Pearce, Cape Ray; Barbara (Nathan) Anderson, Port aux Basques; Raymond (Helena) LeRiche, Cape Ray; Brenda Keeping, Port aux Basques; David (Judy) LeRiche, Codroy Valley; Jerry (Sandra) LeRiche, Port aux Basques and Merrill LeRiche, Cape Ray. Fiancée Mary Parsons, Rose Blanche. Thirty-six nieces and nephews and a very large circle of friends. Visitation took place on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. A memorial service was held on Friday, September 1, 2006, 2 p.m. at St. James' Anglican Church Channel officiated by Rev. Canon Hugh Fudge. Cremation has taken place with interment to follow at a later date. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.
Keith was a kind, loving man who will be greatly missed by his family, friends and anyone who was fortunate enough to have been blessed to have had him in their lives.
