WHEATON, Michael
1980-2005

Michael, 24, passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord, August 3, 2005 at Sherwood Park, Alberta after a short battle with cancer. Born in Gander, he moved with his family to Moncton (1989) and then to Alberta (1996). He was predeceased by his grandparents, Ruby and John Andrews, Port aux Basques. Waiting the glad reunion with Michael are his parents, Lindo and Linda (Andrews) Wheaton; his brother, Melvin and sister-in-law, Brandi, his nephew (born two days after Michael's death) using his namesake, Julian Michael; and grandparents, Otto and Margaret Wheaton, Frederickton, Newfoundland. Michael also leaves behind a number of uncles, aunts, cousins, and relatives from Newfoundland to Africa. Pastor Gil Dimas held a memorial service at Sherwood Park, Alberta on August 6. Viewing was held at Serenity Funeral Service. Cremated remains will be brought to Frederickton at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Michael requests donations may be made to: Alberta Cancer Foundation, 11560 University Ave. Edmonton, Alberta T6G 1Z2 Attention: Emma Stuebring.

O'QUINN, Agnes M.
1913 - 2005

Passed away peacefully at Bay St. George Long Term Care Center, Stephenville Crossing, on Friday, August 5, 2005, Agnes M. O'Quinn at the age of 92 years. Born at South Branch, she was the daughter of the late Nellie and James Gale. She was also predeceased by her husband, George in 1991; daughter, Lucy; grandson, Dean O'Quinn; brothers and sisters, Susan McDougall, Minnie Musseau, Julie Aucoin, Lucy Chaisson, Sandy Gale, Jim Gale, and John Gale. She leaves to mourn 14 loving children, Roland (Magdalen) of Geraldton, ON, Vincent (Cedella) of South Branch, Kathleen (Matt) Gale of Millville, Lucy (Allan) McIsaac of South Branch, Alex (Rosy) of South Branch, Wallace (Evelyn), of Geraldton, ON, Frances (Jennett) of South Branch, Marion (Mike) Sweeney of Corner Brook, Anita (Wilfred) Reid of Corner Brook, Brian (Jeanie) of Halifax, NS, Gregory (Helena) of Searston, Theresa (Robert) Ereaut of Corner Brook, Delores (Terry) Gale of South Branch, and Terry (Cathy) of Geraltdon, ON; 78 grandchildren, 91 great-grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bert O'Quinn of Antigonish, NS, and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitations took place on Saturday, Sunday and Monday at St. Sylvester RC Church, South Branch. Funeral mass took place on Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Sylvester Church officiated by Father Lee Lainey. Interment followed at St. Sylvester RC Cemetery, South Branch. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

ASHFORD, Henry John
Rose Blanche-Port aux Basques
Age 78

It is with great sadness that we, the family of the late Henry Ashford, announce his passing at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on August 5, 2005. He was predeceased by his parents, Augusts and Rita Ashford; son, Raymond; two brothers, Stanley and Percey; and a sister, Mary. Leaving to mourn his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Ashford; five daughters, Shirley (Donald) LeRiche, Judy Ann (Timmy) Stevens, Ruby (Brian) Hann, Viola (Johnny) Skinner and Elsie Brake; three sons, Ross (Monica), Dave (Debbie) and John; along with 30 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; one sister, Evea and a large circle of family and friends. Visitation took place on Saturday, August 6 from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, August 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. from Fillatre's Funeral Home at 134 Main Street, Port aux Basques. The funeral service took place at St. James' Anglican Church with Rev. H. Vallis officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery. KETTLE, Albert
1946-2005

Passed away peacefully at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center on Monday, August 8, 2005 Albert Kettle of Port aux Basques at the age of 58 years. Born in Grand Bay West, he was the son of the late Martin and Ann Kettle. He was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas, Ralph, and Brian; sister-in-law, Lorraine; and father Emmanuel Short. He leaves to mourn with fond memories, his loving wife, Diane of 24 years of marriage; his daughters, Tanya Kettle (Clayton and Dylan) Alisa Kettle, all of Port aux Basques; brothers, James (Mylida) Kettle, Port aux Basques, Bronson (Harriet) Kettle, Surrey, BC, Max Kettle, Sydney NS, Calvin (Susanne) Kettle, Port aux Basques; sisters, Deborah (Brian), Port aux Basques, Ethel (Paul) Blinkhorn, Hinton, Alta., Nancy (Harold) Kettle, Fox Trap, NL and Natasha (Timmy) Romeo, Sydney, NS; brothers-in-law, Rick (Ada) Short, Port aux Basques, Wayne (Sheila) Short, North Bay, ON, Gordon (Lucy) Short Richmond, PEI, Henry Short, Brooks, Alta.; sister-in-law, Alisa (Jeff) Chard, Port aux Basques; mother-in-law, Bessie Short, Port aux Basques, and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Visitations took place on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral service took place on Thursday, August 11, 2005, 2 p.m. at St. James' Anglican Church, Channel, officiated by Rev. Hubert Vallis. Interment followed at St. James' Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

PROSSER, Bernard Hill
1923-2005

Passed away peacefully at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Aug. 11, 2005 Bernard Hill Prosser of Port aux Basques at the age of 81 years. Born in Parsons Harbour he was the son of the late Samuel and Lilly Prosser. He was predeceased by his brothers, Enoch, March 23, 1991; Frank, Feb. 13, 1992; John, May 6, 1994; Charlie, April 24, 1996 and Canon N. Wallace, Feb. 13, 2003. He leaves to mourn with fond memories his loving wife, Dorothy Prosser of 57 years marriage; son, Richard (Gertie) Prosser; grandchildren, John and Leah Prosser all of Port aux Basques. Brother Samuel Prosser North Sydney, NS; brothers-in-law, George (Mary) Bragg and William (Mildred) Bragg of Port aux Basques; sisters-in-law, Dallas (Elwood) Turner Boston, USA, Shirley Osmond, Marilyn Bragg (Will), Ester Bragg Port aux Basques, Julia Prosser Halifax, NS and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation took place on Friday and Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home.  Funeral service took place on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005 at St. James' Anglican Church, Channel, officiated by Rev. NEIL, William J.
1930-2005

Passed away at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Friday, Aug. 12, 2005 William (Bill) James Neil of Isle aux Morts at the age of 74 years. Born at Isle aux Morts he was the son of the late Gladys and John Neil. He was also predeceased by his sons, Charles and Darrell; brothers, and sisters, Thomas, John, Rebecca, Olive, Rose, Betty, Emma and Marie. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Alma of 51 years marriage and six children, Gerald (Selma) of Burnt Islands, John (Karen) of Isle aux Morts, Colin (Sandra) of Lower Sackville, NS, Janice (Lloyd) of Port aux Basques, Louise (Marvin) of Isle aux Morts, Charlene (Mark) of London, ON, thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a large circle of extended family and friends. Visitation took place at Holy Spirit Church on Saturday and Sunday. Funeral services took place on Monday, Aug.. 15, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Holy Spirit Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Hubert Vallis. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

BENNETT, Irma (Leamon)
Aug. 16, 2005

Passed away peacefully, with her family by her side at University Hospital, London, ON, on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005 Irma (Leamon) Bennett, age 54 of Sarnia, ON. Loving Mother of Jason Bennett and his wife, Darcie, Angie Lynch and her husband, Christopher, all of Sarnia. Warmly loved by Joshua. Loved grandmother of Adia and Levi Lynch. Dear daughter of Emma (Hatcher) and the late Victor Leamon. Dear sister of Betty (Elizabeth) Bown, Gilbert Leamon, Alan Leamon and his wife, Pat, Ron Leamon, Dorman Leamon, Shawn Leamon and his wife, Linda. Irma warmly loved all her nieces and nephews. Close friend and companion of Robert Young. Predeceased by brother, Leonard Leamon. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia on Monday, Aug. 22, 2005 at 11 a.m. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date in Burnt Islands, Newfoundland. Age 74

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clayton J. Barnes announce his passing at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Aug. 17, 2005 at the age of 74 years. Leaving to mourn are his daughters, Barbie Lawrence (husband, Vaughn and their children, Julia and Sarah) Lower Sackville, NS, Diane Barnes and son, Matthew, Lower Sackville, NS, Frances Barnes, Vancouver, BC, Elizabeth LeFrense (husband, Marcel) and their children, Anthony (wife, Danya) and Shilo, Fort McMurray, AB; sons: Peter Barnes (wife, Sarah and children, Alex and Kelsey) Elmsdale, NS, Pius Barnes (wife, Joan and children, Michael and Jason) Oshawa, ON; brothers, Ran, Ernie, Dermoth and Herb; sisters, Barbara Askew, Melita Hynes as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (Augot) Barnes, parents Frances Barnes (Wilcox) and James Barnes, sons, Anthony Barnes, Michael Barnes and sister, Elizabeth Perry. Visitation was held on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 21 from 2-4 p.m. at Fillatre's Funeral Home at 134 Main Street, Port aux Basques. The funeral service took place at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Upper Ferry, with Father Lee Lainey officiating. Interment followed at Mount St. Thomas cemetery. PARDY, Linda Jean (Farrell)
August 26, 2005

Passed peacefully away August 26, 2005 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Care Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor, Linda Jean Pardy. She was 49 years of age. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Bradley Farrell. Left to mourn are her husband, Murdic; sons, Cory, Bradley (Amanda); daughter, Wanda-Lee; sisters, Florence (Malcolm Gillis), Yvonne (Louis Lyver), Ruth May, Melida (Albert Pelley), Donna (Lorne Mariot); brothers, Jim (Evelyn), David (Doris), Ken (Sylvie), Karl (Wanda), Gary (Verge), Howard (Carol); four grandchildren, Amber Loder, Bailey, Ethan and Evan Pardy and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Reverend Ken Penney conducted funeral services from the Anglican Church in Badger on Sunday, August 28, 2005. Interment was at the Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home, Grand Falls-Windsor. Pallbearers were sons, Bradley and Cory; brothers, Jim and Gary; brother-in-law, Malcolm Gillis, and family friend Darren Pelley.

SEAWARD, James
1918 - 2005

Gone to be with the Lord from the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre, extended care on Aug. 31, 2005, James Seaward, in his 87th year, surrounded by his loving family. He was born to the late James and Beatrice Seaward on July 6, 1918. He retired from CN Marine in 1982 after 42 years of service as a machinist in the Round House and later on an elevator operator. He also served on the S.S. Caribou and the S.S. Silver City as a fireman. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 65 years, Frances Osmond; four daughters, Shirley (Berkley Hann), Phyllis (Robert Cox), Viola (Lloyd Osmond), Donna Lee (James McLennon); four sons, William (Audrey), Maxwell (Eleanor), Robert (Sharon), Eric (Joan), also Thomas Frances (Nancy) and Ruth Fillier; 22 grandchildren and spouses, 18 great-grandchildren and spouses, three great great grandchildren, foster granddaughter, Daisy Whynot and three foster grandchildren and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. He was the eldest and the last surviving member of his family. He was predeceased by his only sister, Elizabeth; brothers, Thomas, Alex, Harry, John, Gordon, Archibald; grandchildren, Rhonda Seaward, Jason Seaward; great-granddaughter, Glenda Seaward. Visitation took place at East Haven Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral services took place officiated by Pastor Craig Lane. Interment followed at the Pentecostal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre extended care unit, Port aux Basques, NL, A0M 1C0.
