COX, Emily Jane
January 12, 1941 - April 9, 2012
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Emily Jane Cox announces her passing on Monday April 9, at her residence in Port aux Basques at the age of 71 years. Born at Rose Blanche, Emily was the daughter of the late George and Harriet Herritt. She was also predeceased by her husband Robert and their son John Phillip. Loving mother of Sharon (Scott) Pake of London Ontario, and Albert (Theresa) of Timberlea NS. Emily will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren; Melissa, Terry, Michaela, and Mikey. She will be sadly missed by her brothers; Clyde (Marie) Herritt Port aux Basques, Clayton (Rita) Herritt Rose Blanche. Sisters; Marion (Leslie) Strickland Port aux Basques, Ethel Spicer Rose Blanche, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends. In honor of Emily's wishes cremation has taken place. A private family interment took place on Thursday April 12, 2 PM at Hillside Haven Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Kris Gosse. GALE, Arthur Joseph
April 18, 1941 - April 20, 2012

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Arthur Joseph Gale announces his passing on Friday April 20, 2012 at Chancellor Park in St. John's NL, at the age of 71 years. Arthur was predeceased by his wife Mary (Stroud) Gale, mother and father Frances and Joseph Gale, biological mother Theresa MacDonald. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his daughter Madonna (Henry) Lawrence Rose Blanche, son Shawn Gale (Chantel Brown) Clarenville NL. Grandchildren; Cameron Gale and Katelyn Lawrence. Sisters and brothers; Mary Downey, Madonna MacDonald (Clem) all of the Codroy Valley. Jim MacIsaac Burlington ON, Joe Gale (Christine) Barry ON, Kevin MacDonald (Darlene) Stephenville NL, John MacDonald of the Codroy Valley, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitation took place on Sunday and Monday at Precious Blood Roman Catholic Church, St. Andrew's. The funeral mass took place on Tuesday April 24, 11 AM at Precious Blood Roman Catholic Church officiated by Father Edward Terry. Interment followed at Mount St. Thomas Roman Catholic Cemetery. HARDY, James
March 10, 1942 - April 7, 2012
It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Hardy announces his passing on Saturday April 7, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 70 years. Born at Rose Blanche, James was the son of the late of the late Edwin and Theresa Hardy. He was also predeceased by his mother and father in law Robert Organ and Sabina Taylor. Brother Wilfred Hardy. Brother in laws; Don Anderson, Ralph Hilliard and sister in law Jean Hardy. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving family; devoted wife Lorraine of 51 years, his children; Sandra (Stuart) Hardy, Marlene (Glenn) Bateman, Melvina (Isaac), all of Rose Blanche. Tracy (Blake) Dartmouth NS, Jerrilynn (Quentin) Taylor Corner Brook. Grandchildren; Jamie (Yvonne),Travis (Melinda),Vanessa, Vaughn, Glenda, Santana. Great grandchildren; Paige, Sierra, Kadience. Brothers; Edwin Jr (Annie) Doyles, Austin (Judy), Melvin (Sheila) all of Rose Blanche. Sisters; Eva Anderson Corner Brook, Daphne (Jerry) Birk North Sydney, Amelia (James) Young Burgeo NL, Donna (Gary) Dominie Rose Blanche. Brother in law Harry (Eileen) Organ Rose Blanche, sister in law Sandra Hardy Marystown NL and a large circle of brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Visitation took place at St. Micheal's and All Angel's Anglican Church in Rose Blanche on Saturday from 7-9 PM, and on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services took place on Tuesday April 10, 2 PM at St. Micheal's and All Angel's Anglican Church, officiated by Rev. Kris Gosse. MacDONALD, Julia Isabel
Francois, NL
January 7, 1926 - April 18, 2012
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Julia Isabel MacDonald announce her passing at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville, NL on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the age of 86 years. She leaves to mourn her husband Wallace MacDonald Sr.; children: Evelyn (George) Cox, Wallace (Bonnie), Robert (Diane), Gladys Bowles, Elaine (Sidney) Pink, Beulah (Kevin) Strickland, Connie (George) Durnford, Sharon (Jerry) Durnford, Minnie (Jesse) Sibley; 28 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brother Edward Durnford; sister-in-law Minnie (Thomas) Giles and a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Isabel Durnford; son Garland; sisters: Mary, Ester and May; brothers: Nathanial and Samuel. Visitation took place from the family residence in Francois on Saturday. The funeral service took place from St. Simon and St. Jude Anglican Church in Francois on April 22, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Maryrose Colbourne officiating. Interment will follow in the Anglican Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. MARKS, Meredith Belle
(March 24, 1962 - April 22, 2012

MD, MEd, FRCPC Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Professor, Department of Medicine, University of Ottawa, Assistant Dean, Academy for Innovation in Medical Education, University of Ottawa. Peacefully Sunday at the Ottawa home she shared with her soul-mate Peter Bruneau. Sister, daughter-and-sister-in-law, cool aunt, teacher, mentor, friend, runner, lover of gourmet cooking and life celebrations, Calabogie Lake cottager, Newfoundlander, knitter, world traveller. Born in Channel-Port-aux-Basques, raised at the Cape Ray lighthouse, Meridith's light and smile shone in the lives of many. She completed medical studies at Memorial University of Newfoundland and residency at the University of Ottawa. A specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation, Meridith brought her healing hands and calming touch to clinical practice at the Rehabilitation Centre in Ottawa with a focus on amputee rehabilitation and an unwavering commitment to excellence in medical education. Recognized and honoured by multiple clinical care and teaching awards which marked her local and national contributions, Meridith was assistant dean at AIME where she promoted the academic pursuit of medical education. Her dedication inspired and shaped students, residents and physician peers. Predeceased by mother Mary (nee: Simms) and father Arthur "Bun" Marks of Cape Ray, Newfoundland, and by daughter Hayley of Ottawa. Leaving to mourn her family including (her darling) sister Beverly Marks, brother-in-law Ross Durnford, nephew Ben, Port-aux-Basques, aunt Angie (Marks) Palchuk, of Cambridge, Ontario, uncles Jack (Ruth) Marks of Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Llewlyn (Bernice) Marks of Codroy, Newfoundland, and Frank (Helen) Marks of London Ontario, dear in-laws Angus and Jean Bruneau, St. John's, Stephen and Mary Bruneau, David and Laura, St. John's, Ian and Jill Bruneau, Alex, Timothy and Samantha, St. John's. Sharing in this loss are her wide circle of dear friends and associates including Calabogie Lakers, physicians, neighbours, students and the Sunday dinner family. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to Plan International's initiative, "Because I Am A Girl," (www.tinyurl.com/meridithmarks) which promotes poverty-eradication through the education of young girls and women. Services will be held at St. John's and Cape Ray at a later date. MAUGER, Marjorie
January 3, 1940 - April 25, 2012
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Marjorie Mauger announces her passing on Wednesday April 25, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 72 years. Born at Isle aux Morts Marjorie was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Amelia Lawrence. She was also predeceased by her sisters Margaret Hodder and Emma Lawrence, brother John Lawrence and nephew Albert Hodder. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her loving children; Gertie (George) Lawrence Port aux Basques, Gloria (Gerald) Leamon Isle aux Morts, Brian (Eva) Mauger Burnt Islands, Joshua (Cecilia) Mauger Stoney Creek ON, grandchildren Amelia, Michael, Tara (Glendon), Brendon, Chauntelle, Carley; great-granddaughter Bayleigh, nephews Emmanuel, Robert and Michael Cousins and a large circle of nephews, nieces and many friends. Visitation took place at Holy Spirit Anglican Church in Isle aux Morts on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services took place on Sunday April 29, 3 PM at Holy Spirit Anglican Church, Isle aux Morts officiated by Rev. Duncan Granter. MUSSEAU, Minnie Elizabeth
February 16, 1935 - April 25, 2012
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Minnie Elizabeth Musseau announces her passing on Wednesday April 25, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 77 years. Born at Port aux Basques Minnie was the daughter of the late Almon and Elizabeth Skeard. She was also predeceased by her brother Edward Skeard, brother in laws; Cyril Lomond, Jack Scott, Gerald Musseau, Jim Musseau, Gordon Musseau. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her devoted husband Reg of 58 years. A loving mother and grandmother Minnie will also be sadly missed by her children Sheila (Lloyd) Styles of Doyles, Joanne (Darrell) Hesse of Regina. Grandchildren; Robert Styles, Chad Hesse (Sarah), Vanessa Hesse. Sister of Clarence (Nina) Skeard, Mary Lomond all of Port aux Basques, Frances Scott of North Sydney. Sister in law of Rachel Skead Huntly, Scotland, Dollie (Ronald) Doyle St. Andrew's, Anna Musseau, Pearl Musseau both of Port aux Basques, Hilda Musseau Aylesford NS. She will be also fondly remembered by her close friends Margaret Dingwell, Marjorie Osmond, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitation took place on Wednesday from 7-9 PM and on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Friday April 27, 2 PM at St. James Anglican Church, Channel officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Donations in Minnie's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Lung Association.
