It is with great sadness that the family of the late Daniel Frederick Taverner announces his passing on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's at the age of 49 years. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Edgar and Maude LeRiche and Cavelle and Colin Taverner; father-in-law, Maxwell Pearce and brother-in-law, Lawrence Jeans. He leaves to mourn, with fond and precious memories, his loving family: wife, Sandra of 26 years marriage; his only son, Tyson; parents, Dennis and Bernice Taverner; sisters, Cynthia (Colin) Osmond and Christine (Murray) Thomas; niece, Christina and nephew, Colin; all of Cape Ray; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Pearce, Cape Ray; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry (Joan) Pearce, Cape Ray, Diana (Victor) Martell, Moncton, NB, Debbie (John) Butt, Clarenville, NL, Marilyn (Ivan) Tapp, Moncton, NB, Ricky (Sylvia) Pearce, Cape Ray, Renee (John) Ford, Cape Ray, Jacklyn Stansbury (Chris Chippett), Cape Ray, and Leonard (Michelle) Pearce, Cape Ray; and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many, many, friends. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ronald Albert Hiscock announces his passing on Friday, April 10, 2009 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques at the age of 69 years. Ron was predeceased by his son, Gary in 1996, mother and step-father; father and step-mother; brothers, Harold and Martin; sister, Mary and sister-in-law, Cecilia. , 90, formerly of Port aux Basques, passed away peacefully at Craig's Nursing Home in Hantsport, NS on April 12, 2009. She is survived by five of her seven children and three sisters, Margaret Fraser, Port aux Basques, Dolly Levalliant, Halifax, and Mary Pike, Port aux Basques. Funeral took place in Windsor, NS.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joseph Charles Vickers announces his passing on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques at the age of 91 years. Born at La Poile, Charles was the son of the late James and Mary Vickers. He was predeceased by his wife, Berthina in 1988; sister, Jenny and brother, Benjamin; nephew, Benjamin Vickers Jr.; sisters-in-law, Susan, Blanche and Lottie; brothers-in-law, Emmanuel, Jobe, Ted and George. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children, Dorothy Hyde, Lewisporte, Nfld., Mary (Bill) Caines, Burnt Islands, Edward (Marie) Vickers, Tompkins, Nellie Lawrence, Port aux Basques; step-son, Jack (Susan) Symes, Marystown, Nfld.; grandchildren, Robert, Candace, Karen, Jason, John, Glenn, Blaine; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Lucy (Jim) Hayward, Port aux Basques; sister-in-law, Melita Green, Port aux Basques; and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. GERALD GORDON ERIC TAPP
1950 - 2009

Passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Thursday, April 16, 2009 after a brief battle with cancer, age 58 years. Beloved son of Maude and Eric Tapp of Newfoundland, loving husband of Dulcie Tapp (Keeping) of Kitchener, ON; dear father of Nikki Cook and her husband Jason of Waterloo; brother, Wallace Tapp and his wife Joan; sister, Vina Carter and her husband Kevin all of Newfoundland; brother, James Tapp and his wife Colleen of Halifax, NS; also survived by brother-in-law, John McNeil of Newfoundland and predeceased by his sister, Holly McNeil. Will be sadly missed by nephews, Derek and wife Jody, Melvin and Ricky; niece, Kimberley; godchildren, Gregory, Shawn, Patrick and Chloe; sisters and brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews from the Keeping family. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Vance Harold Ambrose Parsons announces his passing on Monday, April 20, 2009 at Red Deer, AB at the age of 34 years. Vance was predeceased by his grandfather, Harold Kettle in March 1998. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his family: mother, Valerie Parsons (Michael Byron); sister, Viktoria Parsons and grandmother, Dorothy Kettle, all of Port aux Basques, and a large circle of relatives and friends. Visitation took place on April 26, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral service took place on Monday, April 27 at 1 1a.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Grand Bay officiated by Rev. Peter Boote, followed by cremation. Interment to be announced at a later date.

Margaret Gullage
, 86, passed away on April 21 at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor. Born in Hermitage, Margaret considered Port aux Basques her home until moving to Grand Falls-Windsor to be near family in her later years. She was predeceased by husbands Charles Pittman and William Gullage, brother Jack, sisters Mildred and Carrie, grandson Glenn and great-grandson Colten. Left to mourn are her children: Allan (Donna) Pittman of Alma, N.B., Charles (Alice) Pittman of Grand Falls-Windsor, Dorothy (Edward) Payne of Panama City; step-children: Shirley (Jeffrey Wilson) George of Anagance, N.B., Wayne (Shirley) Gullage of St. John's and David (Marilyn) Gullage of Clarenville; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brother Dr. Llewellyn (Elossie) Parsons of St. John's; sisters Isabelle (Roy) Fiander of Hermitage and Emily (Leslie) MacDonald of Gander; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Israel Walters on Feb. 24, 1977, brothers James and Steven, sisters Ellen and Ruth, sons-in-law Chester Keeping and Clifford Keeping, grandsons Clifford Reginald Jonathan and Alvin Isreal. Born at Port aux Basques Roy was the son of the late Robert and Susanna Coffin. He was also predeceased by his brothers Roland, Fred, Jim and Ross. Sisters, Vernice and Dulcie. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving family; wife Edith of 48 years marriage. Sons; Bill (Geraldine) Coffin Corner Brook NL, and Derek Coffin of Port Basques. Grandson Christopher, and granddaughter Crystal. Sister, Florence Osmond Port aux Basques. Sisters in law; Irene Billard, Frances Coffin both of Port aux Basques, and Dorothy Coffin Hubbards NS. Lillian was predeceased by her husband Edward Thomas Osmond, son-in-law George Warren, parents Walter and Elizabeth Osmond, sister Harriet, and brothers Raymond and Absolom. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories, daughter Elizabeth; foster son James (Wanda Lee) all of Cape Ray; six grandchildren Ellen (Gary), Nancy (Wade), Trina (Michael), Joy, Grant (Sandra) and Gordon; three great-grandchildren Rory, Gregory and Nicholas; three sisters Margaret Jeans, Cape Ray, Ethel (George) Alien, Port aux Basques, and Joyce (Harold) Janes, Cape Ray; three brothers Edgar (Joan), Port aux Basques, John (Florence), Cape Ray, and Ralph (Alice), Cape Ray; sisters-in-law Marion Osmond, Port aux Basques, Elsie Osmond, Cape Ray and Lucy Burton, Stephenville Crossing; three step-brothers; one step-sister; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. , Matriarch of the James Seaward family, while surrounded by her loving family was promoted to glory on April 28, 2009. Born in Mouse Island, she was the eldest laughter of John Charles and Alice Joseann Osmond. She leaves with precious memories eight children: Shirley Hann, William Seaward (Audrey), Phyllis Cox (Robert), Viola Osmond (Lloyd), Maxwell Seaward (Eleanor), Robert Seaward (Sharon), Eric Seaward (Lora) and Donna Lee McLennon (James); son-in-law Tom Francis; daughter-in-law Ruth Fillier; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters Alice Ford, Viola Mills and Gertie Gillam; godson Rex Strickland; goddaughter Margaret Osmond; sisters-in-law Cora Seaward, Eliza Seaward, Mary Seaward and Pearl Seaward. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years James in 2005; son-in-law Berkley Hann in 2006; daughter-in-law Joan Seaward in 2007; sisters Olive Taylor and Dorothy (twin to Alice); brothers William (torpedoed on the Kitty's Brook off Halifax, N.S. on May 11, 1942 and John Charles (twin to Gertie); grandchildren Rhonda Joy Seaward and Kevin Jason Seaward; great-grandchildren Glenda Kendall of Port aux Basques and James Osmond of Nova Scotia; sister-in-law Elizabeth Seaward; brothers-in-law Tom Seaward, Alex Seaward, Harry Seaward, Jack Seaward, Wilson Ford, Frederick Mills, John Gillam and Stanley Osmond Sr.; and great-nephew Jonathan Seaward. Friends and relatives visited East Haven Funeral Home on April 29 and 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate her life took place at the Faith Pentecostal Tabernacle on Friday, May 1, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Pastors Albert Parmater and Jamie Warren officiating. Interment followed at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Trans-Canada Highway. Funeral arrangements were in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300. www.easthavenfuneralhome.com

Mary (Minnie) Elizabeth Parsons (nee Payne)
September 6th, 1917 - April 29th, 2009

Passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center in Port aux Basques on Wednesday April 29th, 2009 Mary Elizabeth Parsons at the age of 91 years. Mary was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Elizabeth, son Calvin, grandson Robert, son in law Leonard, brother Leslie, and sister Emma. Left to mourn with cherished memories are her husband of 73 years George Robert, Rose Blanche; Her children; Audrey (Fred) Rose Blanche, Katherine Mouse Island, Eudevilla (Ron) Corner Brook, Janet (Cliff) Rose Blanche. Daughter in law Ella Marystown, along with 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 4 great, great grandchildren. Visitation took place on Thursday April 30th, and Friday May 1st, at St. Michael's and All Angels Anglican Church in Rose Blanche. Funeral services took place on Saturday May 2nd, 2009 4 PM at St. Michael's and All Angel's Anglican Church, officiated by Canon Duncan Granter. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road. Funeral arrangements were in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300. www.easthavenfuneralhome.com
