It is with great sadness that the family of the Late Emily Allen announce her passing at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center on Wednesday, November 13, 2002 in her 94th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories two daughters: Carrie Coffin (Clifford), and Rowena Francis; seven sons: Archie (Sylvia), Cecil (Dorothy), James (Florence), Edward (Evelyn), Robert (Hope), Donald (Valerie) and Keith (Shirley); 33 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren as well as a circle of relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her husband, Lewellyn, 1964. Visitation took place from the Pentecostal Tabernacle in Grand Bay, Wednesday, 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday and Friday 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service took place on Saturday, November 16, 2002 at 2 p.m. from St. James Anglican Church with Rev. H. Fudge officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, High Street. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. Bridget Mary Aucoin
of South Branch passed away peacefully at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Monday, October 14, 2002 at the age of 64 years. Bridget was the daughter of the late Elizabeth and William Aucoin. On March 27, 2000 she was predeceased by her husband, Hector. She leaves to mourn her loving children: Christine (Tony) McNeil of South Branch, Marilyn (Elvis) Gillam of St. Fintans, Gloria Spencer and Shawn (Bernette) Aucoin of Lower Sackville, NS, Tony (Karen) Aucoin of Kingston, Ontario, Dale Aucoin (Bill) of Burlington, Ontario, Tracy (Scott) Kettle of Port aux Basques; grandchildren: Brad, Kara, Julie, Adam, Devin, Kyle, Jessica, Rebecca, Nathan and Lucas; sisters and brothers: Madonna (Lou) Reid, Jerome, Robert (Gertie), David (Olive) all of South branch, Doreen Muise (Frank) of Codroy Valley, Ralph (Alma) of Blaketown, NL, William (Barb) of Labrador, Lawrence (May), Allan (Diane), Joseph (Linda), Stephen (Betty) and Gary (Irma), all of Ontario, Brenda (Ronnie) Muise, Shirley (Kenny) Downey all of Alberta and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation was held on Tuesday and Wednesday at St. Sylvester Roman Catholic Church in South Branch. Funeral mass took place on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Sylvester Church, officiated by Father Hynes. Interment followed at St. Sylvester Cemetery, South Branch. On December 22, 2002 a tragic accident, in Dartmouth, NS, claimed the life of Christa Ball along with her fiancé, Godfrey Keeping and his mother, Florence Keeping. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her mother, Elizabeth Ball; sisters: Sherry Warren (Jeremy), Aimee Ball; grandmother, Susie Ball, Sydney Mines, NS; grandparents, Nathaniel and Sara Ann Warford, Pollards Point, NL, Arthur Keeping, friends and staff of IWK Hospital, Neonatal Dept., as well as a large circle of aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her father, Keith Ball, March 1, 2002; and grandfather, Gordon Ball. Visitation took place on December 27 and 28 at Holy Spirit Anglican Church, Isle aux Morts from where funeral service was held on December 29 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Vallis and Rev. Billard officiating. It is with great sadness that the family of Sheila Battcock announce "Heaven has claimed another angel" on November 1, 2002 (All Saints Day), Sheila departed our world surrounded in the love of her husband of 43 years, John F. Battcock; her daughters Jeanine Cardinali (Tony), Jo-Ann O'Brien (Dulach), Michele Draper (Jeff); and son, Johnny Battcock (Barbara).Tara, Rory, Liam, Mark, Alley, Danny and Ryan will never forget their darling Nanny. Awaiting Sheila's arrival in Heaven are her parents, Mary and William Howlett with her brothers, Martin and Jack Howlett. Carmel Buckingham and Sheilagh McGrath (Robert) will cherish the memory of a wonderful sister-in-law. Brother, Bernard Howlett (Pats); and sisters: Bridget Hannis (Rollin), and Patricia Cass will dearly miss their baby sister. Diane Chaulk (Leslie) and children: Melanie, Monique and Michael will deeply miss a special and loving influence in their lives. Anne Galway (John) will cherish the memory of a longtime best friend. The Florida Snow Birds will miss an important member of their flock. Her spirit will continue to shine with the many friends she loved dearly. Numerous nieces and nephews will remember they held a special place in Aunt Sheila's heart. A special thanks to friends, Loretta O'Toole (Joe) and countless others. Lewis Clifford Battiste
of Port aux Basques, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Sunday, November 17, 2002 at the age of 61 years. Born at Port aux Basques he was the son of the late Thomas and Jane Battiste. For many years Lewis worked for Sheaves Plumbing until he joined Irving retiring in 1992. Lewis was an active participant with the volunteer Fire Brigade and did so with great pride. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Mary (nee Bobbett) of 41 years marriage; and five children: Ronnie (Dawn) of Saint John, N.B., Elroy (Janet) of Port aux Basques, Tony (Colleen) of Saint John, N.B., Eugene (Loretta) of Port aux Basques, Constable Joy (Robert) MacKinnon of Saint John, N.B.; grandson, Kyle Battiste; three step-grandchildren and one honorary granddaughter, Sheldine Osmond; brothers and sisters: Ronnie (Maxine) of Doyles, Raymond, Joseph (Marie), Kevin (Donna), Gerard (Carolann), Jerome (Pauline), Nina (Robert) Peddle, Mable, Audrey (William) Seaward all of Port aux Basques, Marlene (Tom) Brake of South Branch; mother-in-law, Irene Bobbett; brothers-in-law: Ken (Cluda) Bobbett, Phil (Mary) Bobbett, Elroy (Linda) Bobbett; sisters-in-law: Bernardine (Jerome) Hoskins, Audrey (Wilson) Hynes and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many, many friends. It is with great sadness that the family of the late J. Gordon Billard announce his passing on Thursday, October 17, 2002 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 75. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Nellie; stepchildren: Frederick Brake (Louise), Maxine Brake, Janet Brake (Bernard Burgess), Elizabeth Brake (Barry Hicks), Cyndie Humber (Raymond); grandchildren: Penny, Mark, Allan, Melissa, James, Andrew and Fiona; great-grandchild, Alexandra; brothers: Robert H. Billard (Roberta), Dieppe, NB, Maxwell E. Billard, Foxtrap, NL; sisters: Anne E. White, Waltham, Massachusetts, Dorothy M. Eastman, Virginia Beach, Alice M. Pike (Malcolm), Gander, NL, Laura D. Travault (Robert), Indianapolis; and a large number of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Victor; and sister, Beatrice. Patricia Cemetery. Will worked with the Department of Highways retiring in 1995. Passed peacefully away at the Calder Health Care Centre, Burgeo, in the presence of his family and friends, Mark Dollimount in his 56th year. Leaving to mourn his wife and best friend of thirty-four years, Sybil; son, Lee (fiancee, Angelina) of Dartmouth; daughter, Donna (Robert Crocker) of Corner Brook; two grandchildren, Emily and Ryan; brothers, Arch (Irene) of Cow Head, Roy (Gladys) of Manuels; sisters, May Hare (Victor), Violet Green (Austin), Leta Vatcher of Burgeo and Sarah Payne (Bert) of Cow Head; mother and father-in-law, Mary and Fred Dominey; brother-in-law, Ward Dominey (Denise) of Burgeo; sisters-in-law, Debbie and Amy of Stephenville, Diane Strickland (Don) of Wawa, Ontario and Theresa Benoit (Lewis) of Bell Island; also numerous nieces and nephews, special friends and neighbours. She leaves to mourn with precious memories her two sons, John (Hilda), and Levi (Phyllis); two sisters, Carrie Scott, Rosabelle LeBruch; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and families as well as a circle of relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas, June 28, 1964; four sisters, Sarah Jane Walters, Susannah Billard, Judy Billard, Edith Scott; and one brother, Winter Scott. Visitation took place from the Holy Spirit Anglican Church in Isle aux Morts, Sunday and Monday from where funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at 2 p.m. with Rev. H. Born at Rencontre West she was the daugher of the Late John Ball and Violet Durnford. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Roy Gordon Harcher in 1984.
