CARTER, Phoebe
Aged 76

Passed away at the Health Science Complex, St. John's on Nov. 11, 2001, Phoebe Carter (White) aged 76. She was predeceased by husband Alex 1992. She leaves to mourn 5 daughters Louise Piercey of Vancouver B.C., Brenda Reid (Doug) Corner Brook, Jessie Stowe (Don) of Pasadena, Dianne Butt (Hubert) of St. John's, Wanda McCarthy (John) Frenchmans Cove, 4 grandchildren, Paula Giles (Gander), Jennifer Stowe (Pasadena), Andrea Butt (St. John's), Holly McCarthy (Frenchmans Cove), Great Grandaughter Alexandria Giles (Gander), special nephew Caleb Carter and his family, Brother Edgar White of Lockport N.S., sister-in-law Phoebe White of Port Aux Basques, and a large number of nieces, nephews and special friends.Visitation took place on Tuesday, Nov. 13 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Wedsesday, Nov 14, 2001, at 2 p.m. at St. James Anglican Church, Officiated by Rev. Hugh Fudge. Interment followed at St. James Cermetery. Funeral in the care of East Haven Funeral Home.

KETTLE, Eva M.
Aged 73

Passed away at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Dec. 24, 2001, Eva Mildred Kettle (nee Lomond) aged 73. Leaving to mourn her loving husband Charles of 57 years; daughter Florence Walsh (Frank) of Goose Bay, Lab.; son Chesley (Nora) of Port aux Basques; grandchildren Terry and Angela; brother and sisters Douglas Lomond (Sheila), Hilda Kettle and Frances Kettle (Gordon), all of Port aux Basques, and Rachel Hollett of Kentville, N.S. and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers Clayton and Edward Lomond. Visitation took place on Dec. 24 from 7-9 p.m. and Dec. 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Dec. 26, 2001, 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Grand Bay, with Rev. E. Smith officiating. Interment followed at St. Paul's Cemetery, T.C.H. Funeral arrangmentts in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

LILLINGTON, Mary
age 71

It is with deep sorrow that the family of the late Mary Lillington announce her sudden passing on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital. Mary was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all. She leaves behind her husband of 49 years, Israel; son, Richard (Una), Channel-Port aux Basques; daughter, Marilyn (David), Halifax, NS; step-son, Tom, British Columbia; grandchildren: Wayne, Shawn, Trina, Natasha, Staci, Jamie, Theresa; great-grandchildren: Brittany, Gregory, Kyle; brother, Morgan White (Naomi); sister, Shirley Wadden and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving son, Gary; parents, John and Jane White; brothers: Jim, Ernest, Herbert; sisters: Anne and Edna. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Fuenral Home, Port aux Basques. Funeral service held on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001 at the St. James Anglican Church, Channel, officiated by Rev. H. Fudge. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery at Barachois Hill.

Lilly, John Sutton
Age 83

It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Sutton Lilly announce his passing at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Friday, Jan. 5, 2001 at the age of 83 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories wife, Winnetta of 58 years; three daughters, Margaret Kettle, Evelyn Lilly, and Linda Lilly; one son, William Lilly; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Martha Lilly; mother-in-law, Martha Lillington; two brothers-in-law and their families; four sisters-in-law and their families, as well as a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his son, John in 1994 and brother, Leonard in 1993. Visitation took place from Fillatre’s Funeral Home Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service was held on Monday, Jan. 8, 2001 from St. James Anglican Church, Rev. Nelson Small officiating and interment followed at the church cemetery. The funeral service was entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Port aux Basques.

LOMOND, Maxwell Clarence

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Maxwell Lomond announce his passing at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center, Monday, February 19, 2001 in his 87 year. He leaves to mourn three daughters: Alfreda Wells of Port aux Basques, Ivy Benoit (Bernie) of Doyles, Linda Lomond of Port aux Basques; three sons: James (Rita) of Port aux Basques, George (Gladys) of Port aux Basques, Richard (Ginger) of Coldbrook, Nova Scotia; 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, son-in-law, Bill Hickey; two sisters: Irene Greenough, Gladys Ingram; one brother Gordon, as well as a large circle of family and friends. He is predeceased by wife Ivy, daughter Lillian Hickey, three sons: Maxwell G., Phillip, Robert, grandchildren: Robert Wells, Deborah Lomond, Darry Hickey, son-in-law Wilbur Wells, sister Susie Donovan and two brothers John and Walt. Visitation took place on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service took place on Thursday, February 22 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Nelson Small officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery, Barachois Hill. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Fuenral Home, Main Street, Port aux Basques.
