RYAN, MARY T. nee BURNS
Passed away at Charles LeGrow Health Centre, Port aux Basques, on January 4, 2000, Mary T. Ryan in her 88th year. She was predeceased by her husband, Dennis, parents, Moses and Catherine Burns, sister, Carmel Martin Kavanaugh. She leaves to mourn six children, Cyril and Tillie Ryan, Dennis and Carmel Ryan of O'Regans, Margaret (Robert) Blake of Grant's Pass, Oregon, Ann Marie (William) Doucete of Tompkins, Ursala (Ray) Schumph of Kippens, Sarah (Alfred) Woods of London, Ont.; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren. Funeral mass took place at St. Ann's RC Church officiated by Father DT McGrath. Interment followed at Chaple Green RC Cemetery.

MacISAAC, MARY ONA nee CRABBE
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Ona MacIsaac announce her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on January 27, 2000 at the age of 83 years. She leaves to mourn five children, Nora (Bill) Burton, Maude (David) Burt, Wilfred (Bev) of Corner Brook, Shirley (Frank) Pike, Ruth (Lionel) Forsey of Port aux Basques; one sister, Lenora Moody of Boston; six grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Archie in 1967 and her daughter, Irene in 1960. Funeral services took place January 29th 11am at the Church of the Most Precious Blood RC Church, St. Andrews with Father McGrath officiating. Interment to follow at the church cemetery.

WALL, FREDERICK
Passed away suddenly at St. Andrews on January 29, 2000 Frederick Wall, at the age of 63 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Florence and Daniel and brother Gerald. He leaves to mourn sister, Teresa; brother, William and Elva of Sydney, NS; 3 nieces, Rita, Jeannie and Mary. Funeral services took place February 1st 10am at the Church of the Most Precious Blood RC Church, St. Andrews with Father McGrath officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery.

DOMINIE, VIOLET nee TOUCHINGS
Passed away at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre on January 1st, 2000, Violet Dominie, in her 89th year. She was predeceased by her husband, John in 1998. She leaves to mourn four children, Jack and Marie of Codroy, Marjorie (Joe) Willis, Doris (Willoughby) Munden, Glenn all of Port aux Basques; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Annie Durnford of St. John's; sister-in-law, Muriel Touchings of Port aux Basques, Effie of Ramea, Susie of Halifax; brother-in-law, James and Essie Dominie Port aux Basques. She was also predeceased by her son, Rex, brothers, Harry and Joe, sister, Mary. Funeral services took place on January 4th 2pm at St. James Anglican Church officiated by Rev. George Childs and Eric Mullins. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill.

MUSSEAU, LEONARD
Passed away suddenly at his home on January 5, 2000, Leonard Musseau, in his 67th year. He leaves to mourn his wife Katherine (Kay) and five children, Veronica (Dana) Linfield of Portugal Cove, Melissa and Jeff, Lenette and Larry of St. John's, Robert and Tina of Port aux Basques, Garland and Helen Barnes of Grand La Pierre; grandson, Victor; sisters, Pearl and Shirley of Port aux Basques; brothers, Roy and Dorothy, Alex and Ethel, Ron and Phyllis, Joe and Susan all of Port aux Basques. Funeral services took place at James Anglican Church on Jan. 7th officiated by Rev. George Childs and Eric Mullins. Interment followed at Barachois Hill Anglican Cemetery.

KETTLE, ALBERT
Passed away at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's, on January 10, 2000, Albert Kettle, in his 67th year. He was predeceased by his wife, Rebecca Sheaves. He leaves to mourn his son, Emmanuel; two sisters, Julia of Moncton, Mary and Ben of Port aux Basques; 10 step children, Dave and Janet, Ken and Josie, Judy and Charles, Cynthia and Wilson, Cecil and Mary Ellen, Doug and Michelle, Jim and Cathy, Dwayne and Roxanne all of Port aux Basques, Loretta and Ivan of Burnt Islands, Jerry and Sharon of Northe Sydney, NS; 21 step grandchildren. Funeral services took place at St. Paul's Anglican Church on January 14th 2pm officiated by Rev. E.M. Smith and Rev. George Critchell. Interment followed at Barachois Hill Anglican Cemetery.

GREEN, ANNIE MAY nee VARDY
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Annie May Green announce her passing at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre on January 15, 2000 at the age of 78 years. She leaves to mourn her husband of 52 years, Archibald Green; six children, Jack (Beverly) Vardy of Lower Sackville, NS, Sheila (Junior) Bateman, Gerald(Janice), Clayton (Diane), Bob (Alice) of Port aux Basques, Christine (Thomas) Howell of Winnipeg, Man; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; two sisters, Etta (Charles) Sheppard of North Sydney, NS, Azelma (Albert) Green of Halifax; three brothers, Ward (Florence) Vardy, Raymond (Kay) Vardy, Cyril (Louise) Vardy of Port aux Basques. She was predeceased by her parents, John William and Lucy Maude (MacDonald) Vardy, daughter, Brenda in 1955 and brothers, George and Norman Vardy. Funeral services took place January 18th 2pm at St. James Anglican Church with Rev. Nelson Small, Rev George Childs and Eric Mullins officiating. Interment to follow at Barachois Hill Anglican Cemetery.

ORGAN, DOROTHY LORRAINE nee FRANCIS
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dorothy Lorraine Organ announce her passing at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre on January 20, 2000 at the age of 64 years. She leaves to mourn eight children, Jane (Ernest) Meade of Halifax, NS, James (Wanda) of Shelburne, NS, Katie (Philip) Parsons of Burgeo, Evelyn Blackmore, Vera (William) Francis, Eileen (Raymond) Hodder, Irene (Wilfred) Osmond and Colleen Organ all of Port aux Basques; 20 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Wilson) Thorne of Burnt Islands, Florence (Claude) Kinslow of Port aux Basques; one brother, Albert (Florence) Francis of Port aux Basques. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Anna Jane (Taylor) Francis; sister Ivy; husband James Henry Organ (April 1999). Funeral services took place January 24th 2pm at St. James Anglican Church with Rev. Nelson Small, Rev George Childs and Eric Mullins officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Anglican Cemetery

Passed away at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre, on January 20, 2000, Hilda Short in her 91st year. She was predeceased by her first husband, John Pink in 1963; second husband, Ambrose Short in 1999. She leaves to mourn two sons, Claude and Barbara of St. John's, Sam and Gertie of Port aux Basques; one sister, Frances Osmond of Port aux Basques; 6 grandchildren; 4 greatgrandchildren. Funeral services took place at St. James Anglican Church with Rev. Nelson Small, Rev George Childs and Eric Mullins officiating. Interment followed at St James Anglican Cemetery.

BRYAN, STEPHEN
Passed away suddenly at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre January 23, 2000 Stephen Bryan, in his 71st year. He leaves to mourn two sisters, Eva of Burnt Islands, Emily of Dartmouth; also seven nephews, eight nieces and their families Funeral services took place January 25th 3pm at St. George's Anglican Church, officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard, assisted by lay reader Eric Brown. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Anglican Cemetery.

COURTNEY, JAMES HUBERT
It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Hubert Courtney announce his sudden passing at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre on January 30th, 2000 at the age of 67 years. He leaves to mourn his wife of 48 years, Annette Courtney (Strickland); 3 children, Brenda Ellis, Jack (Wanda) and Louise (Willie) Seaward all of Port aux Basques; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 6 sisters, Shirley Gushue, Effie Webb, Alma Fisher, Elsie Dean, Blanche Mauger,Mildred Bond; 3 sisters-in-law, Jessie (Archibald) Nippart, Freda (Howard) Ingram, Ann (Lewis) Bartlett; 3 brothers-in-law, Leslie (Marion) Strickland, Aubrey (Harriet) Strickland, Levi (Margaret) Strickland. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Harriet (Collier) Courtney, sister, Nina Miles, two brothers, Roy and Sam. Funeral services took place February 1st 4pm from Salvation Army Citadel in Grand Bay with Captain Byron Kean officiating. Interment followed at Salvation Army Cemetery.

MacDONALD, THERESA ANN nee MacISAAC
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Theresa Ann MacDonald (MacIsaac) announce her sudden passing at her residence on February 25th, 2000 at the age of 83 years. She leaves to mourn her four sons, James of Burlington, Ont., Arthur, Kevin (Darlene) of Stephenville, and John of St. Andrews; one daughter, Madonna of St. Andrews; 7 grandchildren, Christine, Jodi, Victoria, Leo, Lorne, James and Shawn; 2 sisters, Tina MacLellan of Codroy Valley and Dorothy Saunders of Burlington, Ont. She was predeceased by her husband, Leo MacDonald in 1958 and her parents, Stephen and Catherine (MacLellan) MacIsaac. Funeral services took place February 28th 11am from Roman Catholic Church of the Most Precious Blood, St. Andrews with Father McGrath officiating. Interment followed at Mount St. Thomas RC Cemetery, Great Codroy.

FORD, IRENE
Passed away at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre, on February 1st, 2000, Irene Ford in her 77nd year. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles 1988; son Earl 1986. She leaves to mourn five children, Shirley (Fred) Blackmore, Susan (Gordon) Dicks,Charles Jr (Gladys), and Joe of Port aux Basques, Rose of Buchans Junction; 23 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters, Annie Styles and Maria Pearce of Port aux Basques. Funeral services took place on February 3rd 2pm at St. James Anglican Church with Rev George Critchell and Eric Mullins officiating. Interment followed at St James Anglican Cemetery.

PEARCE, CATHERINE ANN
Passed away at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre, on February 4th, 2000, Cartherine Ann Pearce in her 70th year. She leaves to mourn her husband, Llewelyn and four children, Arthur Lomond and Francis, Roy Lomond and Laverna, Melvin and Maxine of Port aux Basques; Judy (Neil) Rogers of Yarmouth, NS,; 7 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; 6 brothers and sisters, Walter and Jane Kettle, Pear l and Russell Lomond, Sam Kettle, Sadie and Roy Skeard, Nina Jeans, all of Port aux Basques, Carrie (Ivan) Walters of Toronto. Funeral services took place on February 7th 2pm at St. Paul's Anglican Church with Rev George Critchell and Rev. E M Smith officiating. Interment followed at St Paul's Anglican Cemetery.

SMITH, SUSANNA
Passed away February 26th, 2000 peacefully at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre, Port aux Basques, Mrs. Susanna Smith of Bishop's Cove. She was 81 years old. She was predeceased by her husband, Vaughan, August 2nd, 1972. Left to mourn are sons, Clyde (Marie) of Cambridge, Ont., Billy (Ann) of Toronto, Ont., Boyd (Lynn) of Stonewall, Man.; daughters, Jessie (Wallace) Meade of Margaree, Florence (Frank) Lilly of St. John's; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. Rev. Edward Sampson and Rev. Arch Young conducted funeral services at St. John's Anglican Church, Bishop's Cove March 2nd 2pm. Interment was at St. John's Anglican Cemetery, Bishop's Cove. Pallbearers were Clyde Smith, Billy Smith, Boyd Smith, Rodney Smith, Wally Meade and Wallace Meade.

LEFRENSE, AMBROSE JOHN ROBERT
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ambrose John Robert LeFrense announce his sudden passing at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre on February 10, 2000 at the age of 78 years. He leaves to mourn his wife of 58 years, Leona Olive LeFrense (Prosser); 5 children, Raymond (Stella), Calvin (Linda) of Isle aux Morts, Shirley (John) Durnford of Devon, Alberta, Mable (Weyman) Smith of Calgary, Alberta, Magaida (Doug) Fast of Nanimo, B.C.; 17 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; son-in-law. Eric Carter of Port aux Basques. He was predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Elizabeth (Hann) LeFrense, daughter Elizabeth Carter in 1996, two brothers: Norman (1999) and Philip, sister Alvia Huelin Funeral services took place February 14th 2pm from Holy Spirit Anglican Church in Isle aux Morts with Rev. Hubert Vallis officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Anglican Cemetery.

CAINES, LILLIAN MAY
Passed away at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre, on February 17th, 2000, Lillian May Caines in her 81st year. She was predeceased by her husband, Edgar in 1994. She leaves to mourn seven children, Douglas, John, Beaula (Wayne) Petite, Edgar Jr., Allister and Della, Colin and Michelle all of Burnt Islands, Harold and Joanne of Thunder Bay, Ont., Edith (Michael) Giguere of Annapolis Valley, NS; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Harriet Jane Keeping, Dorothy Thorne of Burnt Islands, Susan and Fred of Codroy, Helen Croucher of Sackville, NS, Minnie (Walter) Hayman of Kentville, NS, Elizabeth Billard of Spryfield, NS,; brother-in-law, Kenneth and Olive Caines of Fall River. Funeral services took place on February 20th 2pm at St. George's Anglican Church, Burnt Islands with Rev Clayton Billard officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Anglican Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road.

GREEN, SEAWARD
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Seaward Green announce his passing At the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville on March 1st, 2000 at the age of 83 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife Barbara; three daughters, Mary (Garland) Benoite), Dorothy (Ron) Cooper both of Burgeo, Doreen (Kevin) Edwards, Sackville NS.; special granddaughter, Vickie Green, Burgeo; 4 grandsons, 3 granddaughters; 2 great grandchildren; 4 brothers, Maxwell (Lizzie), Albert (Azelma) both of Halifax NS, Cecil (Ada), North Sydney NS, George (Lynette), Petite de Grath, NS. He was predeceased by his son Fred in 1977. Funeral services took place March 4th 2pm at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Burgeo with Rev. Kenneth Abbott officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery.

FARRELL, DORA nee WALTERS
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dora Farrell announce her passing at Western Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook on March 2nd, 2000 at the age of 74 years. She leaves to mourn four sons, Norman, Dan, Russell (Lavina) of Rose Blanche and Dennis (Margarite) of Glace Bay, NS; four daughters, Ida Marshall of Port aux Basques, Cassie Farrell of Rose Blanche, Gloria (Austin) Parsons of Selbourne, NS, and Marion Farrell of Oliver, BC; 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John W. Farrell in 1996, son, Austin Farrell in 1998, step brother, Eric Walters in 1999, son in law, Stanley Lawrence in 1978 and great granddaughter, Jessica Dawn Bennett in 1994.Funeral services took place March 5th 2pm from the St. Michael's and All Angels Church with Rev. Clayton Billard officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Rd.

LAWRENCE, JOHN D.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late John D. Lawrence announce his sudden passing at his home in Bridgewater, NS in his 53rd year. He will be sadly missed by his loving family, wife Ann (nee White); daughter, Toby in Winlaw, BC; son, Baine in Bridgewater; brother, Gordon (Jane) in Gander; in-laws, Leonard and Rita White in Port aux Basques; brother-in-law, Dave (Vivian), Eric (Judy) in Bridgewater; Brian (Rose) in Codroy. He was predeceased by his parentsGordon in 1998 and Ada Maude in 1973. Funeral services took place March 9th 2pm from St. James Anglican Church with Rev Nelson Small officiating. Interment followed at Barachois Hill Cemetery.

WELLS, DARLENE FRANCIS
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Darlene Francis Wells announce her passing at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, NS on March 6th, 2000 in her 37th year. Darlene leaves to mourn her son Clifton and common law husband, Wilson Strickland both at Burnt Islands; parents, Benjamin and Vera Mae Wells; sisters, Elaine Wells (Clarence) of Shelburne, NS, Sheila (Ralph) LaFrense, Carolann Wells (Edward); Brothers, Benjamin (Elsie), Rodney (Susanna), Garnet (Freda) all at Isle aux Morts, Curtis (Cathy), Deon (Jocelyn) of Harrietsfield, NS, and Glendon (Wanda) of Dartmouth, NS whom Darlene resided with. Funeral services took place on March 11th 2pm from the Holy Spirit Anglican Church at Isle aux Morts with Rev. Hubert Vallis officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts.

LOMOND, SADIE LILLIAN
Passed away peacefully at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre March 8th, 2000, Sadie Lillian Lomond in her 91st year. She was predeceased by her first husband, George Matthews and her second husband, John Lomond and her daughter, Lillian Murphy. She leaves to mourn her daughters, Vera, Bernice (Ty); son, Gerald (Barbara), Dan (Lorraine); son-in-law, William Murphy; sister, Kyra Bennett; 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Funeral services took place on March 11th 2pm at St. James Anglican Church with Rev. Nelson Small, Rev. George Critchell and Eric Mullins officiating. Interment followed at St James Anglican Cemetery at Barachois Hill.

SIBLEY, JOHN
Passed away at the Calder Hospital in Burgeo on March 5th, 2000, John Sibley in his 89th year. He leaves to mourn his wife of 64 years, Beatrice; two sons, Jack (Bess), Jesse (Minnie) at Ramea; two daughters, Ann (Doug) at Burnaby, BC, Marjorie (George) at Isle aux Morts; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; two sisters, Alice at Ramea and Bethania at Grand Bank. Rev. Trudy Sullivan conducted the funeral services at St. Boniface Anglican Church in Ramea on March 7th 2pm. Interment was at the Anglican cemetery in Ramea.

BILLARD, LORENIA
Passed away at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre March 18th, 2000, Loenia Billard in her 83rd year. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph in 1965. She leaves to mourn eight children, Georgina (Wilfred) Hayman, John and Melita, Percy, Shirley (Max) Evans, Josildrand Shirley, Blanford and Doreen all at Isle aux Morts, Martha Jane (Seaward) Lawrence in Halifax, NS., Calvin and Judy of Kelligrews; 37 grand children; 47 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marcella Hulan and Martha Francis of Isle aux Morts. She was predeceased by her brother Garfield Walters. Funeral services took place on March 21st 2pm from the Holy Spirit Anglican Church at Isle aux Morts with Rev. Hubert Vallis officiating. Interment followed at Holy Spirit Anglican Cemetery, Isle aux Morts.

DURNFORD, GORDON R.
Passed peacefully away at the Calder Health Care Centre on March 21st, 2000 in his 81st year, Gordon R Durnford of Francois. He will be sadly missed by sons, John (Viola), Clyde (Bonny) of Dartmouth, Roland (Alice), Glenn (Linda) of Francois, Chesley (Bess) of Burgeo, George (Loraine) of St. Jaohn's, Gordon (Pheobe) of Murrey River, PEI; daughters, Kathleen Courtney, Deborah (Perry) Baggs of Francois, Millie (Ron) Skinner of McCallum, Fanny (Paul) Morrison of Dartmouth, Patricia (Corwin) Durnford of Burgeo; 34 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. Also, sister-in-law Ruth Durnford of Francois, brothers-in-law, Harry Skinner of Burgeo and Francis Riva of Bangor, Maine. He was predeceased by his wife, Maude in 1996, daughter, Daphne in 1960 and son-in-law, Gerald Courtney in 1997.

HICKEY, JOSEPH PATRICK
Passed away at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre, ON March 26th, 2000, Joseph Patrick Hickey in his 75th year. He was predeceased by his wife, Martha in 1998. He leaves to mourn two sons, Martin and Carol Ann in Codroy Valley, Lloyd and Marlene of Port aux Basques; 2 grandchildren. Funeral Mass took place on March 28th, 2pm at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church officiated by Father D.T. McGrath. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery.

KEEPING, KATHERINE BERTHA nee CORNISH
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Katherine Bertha Keeping announce her sudden passing at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre on March 28th, 2000 at the age of 65 years. She leaves to mourn her husband of 43 years, Ralph Keeping; two daughters, Cynthia (Gary) Childs of Barrie, Ont., Bonita (Joe) Strickland of Doyles; 2 grandchildren; brother, Johnny (Irene) Cornish of Port aux Basques; sister, Winetta Webb of Corner Brook. She was predeceased by her mother, Gladys, as well as other family members. Funeral services took place March 31st 2pm from the Salvation Army Citidel with Captain Byron Kean and Rev. George Childs officiating. Interment followed at Barachois Hill Anglican Cemetery.

HIGDON, RUTH "BETTY" nee GILLAM
Aug. 6, 1931-March 29, 2000

Passed away peacefully at the Carbonear General Hospital on March 29th, 2000, after a lengthly illness, Ruth "Betty" Higdon, of New Harbour, formerly of Port aux Basques aged 68 years. Predeceased by parents, Mary and John T Gillam, brothers; John Cecil Gillam, Matthew Gillan, sisters; Geraldine Gillam and Lillian Wells. Leaving to mourn her husband, William James; daughter, Brenda (Clyde) Ingram; grandson, Clyde (Jenesta Welshman); great grandson, Myles; step-sons, Gerald (Barbie) Higdon, Bernard (Cindy) Higdon, George (Karen) Higdon; step-daughters, Maxine (Ed) Higdon, Marilyn (Ed) Higdon, Lorie (Miguel) Bravo; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Louisa Caffers, Emma Martin; 1 brother, George (Dulcie) Gillam.

SHEARS, FLORENCE nee KENDALL
Passed away at her residence in Tompkins on March 9th, 2000 Florence Shears, in her 67th year. Husband of 63 years to Minnie Beatrice who sat by his side to see him off. Jim was the father of Lorrain (Claude) Young, James (Bernice) Matthews and Allan Matthews. Survived by his brother John and sister, Laura Strickland of Newfoundland and Stanely of Nova Scotia. Predeceased by his sons, Clifford, Gerald and Roy and his brothers, Isadore, Edgar, Clarence and his sister Blanche Meade. Passed away suddenly at his home in Cambridge, Ontario on June 21st 2000, Peter Feilam MacIsaac, in his 45th year. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Emerald Chapter 58 and Orange Lodge Vigilant 415. She is survived by son, Frederick (Barbara); grandson, Frederick Jr (Shelley) and great grandson Frederick Noah, Halifax; sister, Mary, Cape Ray. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick, infant daughter, Joan; sisters, Gladys, Alice, Jane, Susan; brothers, Albert, James, Tom and George. She was president of the UCW of Grand Bruit United Church. She was a member of the local service district. He leaves to mourn his wife Regis; seven daughters, Ellen (Jack) Devine, Hamilton Ont, Arthena (Jim) Osmond, Port aux Basques, Sandra (Bryan) Campbell, Searston, Linda Battiste (Dave Gouthro), Stephenville, Bonnie (Ernest) Hardy, Isle aux Morts, Carolann Battiste (Dave Didsbury), Fredericton, NB, Wanda (Barry) Smith, Borden, Ont,; three sons, Willard (Elaine) Battiste, David Battiste (Donna Elms), and Gary (Dulcie) Battiste all of Port aux Basques; 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; sister, Eileen Arsenault, Scarborough, Ont. Funeral services took place on Nov. 13th 2pm at St. James Anglican Church with Rev. Nelson Small officiating. Interment followed at St James Anglican Cemetery at Barachois Hill.

KEEPING, HELEN
Passed away peacefully at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre on November 10th, 2000, Helen Keeping in her 90th year. She was predeceased by her husband, James in 1984. She leaves to mourn six children, Ethel Keeping, Hilda (Minter) Caines, Reg and Evelyn of Burnt Islands, Edna (Clyde) Bateman of Port aux Basques, Ruth (Carl) Buffett, Helen (Cyrus) Graham of Rose Blanche; 32 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and a number of great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters, Susan, Clara and Hilda. Funeral services took place Nov. 13th at St. George's Anglican Church, officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Anglican Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Rd.

RINGLER, MARY
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Ringler announce her passing at her residence on November 12th 2000 at the age of 77. She leaves to mourn four brothers, Walter, Bill (Mary), Raymond (Pauline) and Alex (Lorraine; one sister, Jenny Mercer. She was predeceased by her husband Leonard and sister-in-law Gwen. Funeral services took place on Nov. 15th 2pm from her home in Codroy Valley with interment at the family plot in Mount St. Thomas Cemetery.

Jessie Louise LeMoine
, age 100, resident of the Northside Guest Home, North Sydney and formerly of Rose Blanche, Nfld, died November 16th, 2000 at the guest home. Born in Rose Blanche, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Berthina (Hardy) Munden. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney and a former member of St. Michael's and All Angels Anglican Church, Rose Blanche, where she was active with the ACW for many years. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Hazel Ringer of Labrador City, Ruby (Gerald) Billard, Glace Bay, Berthina (John) Hill, Port aux Basques, Virginia "Cassie" (Cecil) MacLeod, North Sydney; three sons, Nathan (Joyce), Wilfred (Frances), of Rose Blanche, Kenneth (Mabel) of Port aux Basques; brother, Charles, Lawrencetown, NS; sister, Theresa Hardy, Rose Blanche; 22 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Philip, son, Gerald, three brothers, Wilfred, Levi and William, sisters, Julia Warren, Amelia Billard, and Gertrude Strickland. Funeral services took place Nov. 19th at Rose Blanche. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Rd.

WELLS, RONALD GORDON
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ronald Wells announce his passing at Western Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook on November 22nd 2000 at the age of 43 years. He leaves to mourn his wife Shara; daughters, Crystal and Kayla; father and mother, Gord and Maxine Wells; two brothers, Terry (Diane), Glen (Donna); three sisters, Wanda (Karl) Blackwood, Cathy (Wayne) Boland, Cindy (Greg) Wells; grandmother, Edna Wells; Aunt Cavell and Uncle Peter Butt; father and mother-in-law, Owen and Mona Davis. The funeral service was held Nov. 25th at The Most Holy Redeemer Cathedral, Mount Bernard Ave. Interment followed at Mount Patricia Cemetery.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Wilfred Sheaves announce his passing at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre on December 3rd 2000, at the age of 66 years. He leaves to mourn his wife, Eileen; son, Tom (Natalie); daughters, Lorna (Terry) Dingwell, Mary (Vince) Ford; 3 grandchildren, Lisa, Stephanie and Faith; three brothers, Eric (Mary), Joseph (Dorothy), Bob (Florence); 3 sisters, Ruth (Richard) Fraser, Edith (Bob) Sheppard, Sylvia (Eric) Carew. He was predeceased by four brothers, Fred, Clifford, Louis and Lloyd. Funeral services took place on Dec. 6th at St. James Anglican Church with Rev. Nelson Small and Rev. Coombs officiating. Interment followed at St James Anglican Cemetery at Barachois Hill.

DOYLE, MARGARET
Passed away peacefully on December 4th, 2000 at the North Pond Personal Care Home in her 88th year. She leaves to mourn her two children, Ronald (Dollie), Rosemarie (Jack); 7 grandchildren, Marjorie, Robert, Leonard, Chris, Cynthia, Owen and Sheri; 10 great grandchildren, Jalisa, Travis, Brandon, David, Dawna, Ross, Alyssa, Andrew, Erica and Renee; one sister, Mary, New Waterford, NS. Funeral services took place Dec. 7th at St. Anne's Church in Upper Ferry with Fathers Hynes, Gale and O'Quinn officiating. Interment followed at Mount St. Thomas RC Cemetery, Great Codroy.

DOWNEY, PRIMO GERALD
Passed away December 4th, 2000 at the Queen Elizabeth Health Centre in Halifax, Primo Downey at the age of 76. Left to mourn are his wife, Mary; children, Millie (Barry), Codroy Valley, Ada (Rick), Gus, in Ontario, Anne, Michael (Karen), in Alberta, Aiden (Monica) in Winnipeg; grandchildren, Cathy, Crystal, Chelsea, Gordon, Trumanda, Ryker, Skye Dawn; brother, Leo; sisters, Dorothy in Ontario, Loretta of St. John's, Lennie in Sydney. A memorial service was held Dec. 9th at St. Anne's Church in Upper Ferry with Father Hynes officiating.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gordon Richards announce his passing at his residence on December 4th, 2000, in his 86th year. He leaves to mourn two daughters, Irma (Graham) Roberts, Betty (Ross) Dawe; one son, Gordon (Bea); two brothers, Harold, Edgar (Phyllis); sister-in-law, Maud; 10 grandchildren, Faith, Sharon, Graham, Terri-anne, Stephen, Bradley, Aaron, Karen, Lisa and Ashley; 4 great grandchildren, Jennifer, Jacqueline, Kelly and Graham. He was predeceased by his wife Selina (nee Keeping), two brothers, Harry and William, two sisters, Grace and Mary-Jane. Funeral services took place Dec. 7th from Westly United Church with Rev. Ritchie officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

CLEVETT, CHARLES BURKE
It is with great sadness that the family of the late "Chappy" Clevett announce his passing at his residence on December 7th, 2000 at the age of 83 years. He leaves to mourn his wife Maria; five daughters, Linda (Robert) Miller of Glace Bay, Diane (Jeff) Musseau, Jacqueline (Ernest) Hardy of Port aux Basques, Donna Clevett, Denise (Larry) White of Ontario; six sons, Gordon, Ivan (Wanda) of Port aux Basques, Wayne (Joyce), Margaree, Llewellyn (Margaret), New Brunswick, Stewart and Barry in Ontario; 18 grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, Gordon in North Sydney, Ralph (Ethel), Port aux Basques; two sisters, Mabel (Ken) LeMoine, Port aux Basques, Shirley (Henry) Hardy, Rose Blanche. He was predeceased by his father, William, mother, Harriet, brother, Andrew, two sisters, Grace and Nina. The funeral service was held on Dec. 11th from St. James Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Nelson Small. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery.

DURNFORD, ANN
Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's on December 10th, 2000, Ann Durnford aged 88 years. Predeceased by her husband, Ambrose and her son, George Ross. Leaving to mourn her sons, John (Sally) with whom she resided, Alvin (Audrey), Joe (Debby); grandchildren, Ross (Beverley), Rick (Lisa), Brian (Linda), Chris and Jennifer; great grandchildren, Benjamin, Chloe, and Rachel. Rested at Barrett's Funeral Home, St. John's were funeral services were held on Dec. 12th. Cremation followed.

MULLINS, GEORGE H.
George Mullins
, age 85, of New Bedford, MA died December 11th 2000 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Florence Louise (Taylor) Mullins and son of the late Archibald and Ellen (Foote) Mullins. Mr. Mullins was born in Rencontre East, Nfld and had lived in New Bedford for most of his life. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. He was formerly employed as a commercial fisherman on several vessels in the New Bedford fleet until his retirement. He was a member of the New Bedford Fisherman's Union, the United Fisherman's Club, and had served in the Royal Navy during World War 11. His beloved grandson, Shane J. Mullins took care of him for several years before he entered Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility. Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl (Marc) Parent and Debra (Soares of New Bedford; brother, John Mullins of Recontre East, Fortune Bay; four sisters, Priscilla Sheaves and Marjorie Pauls both of Port aux Basques, Emily Cormeau of Digby NS, Dorothy Sheppard of Recontre East, Fortune Bay; four grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Bertha Carter, Gerald, Earle and Leonard Mullins. A private funeral was held Dec. 15th in the Saunders-Dywer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford, followed by burial in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven.

WARREN, JANE RUTH (BLAGDON)
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Jane Ruth Warren announce her passing at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre on December 21st, 2000 at the age of 60. She leaves to mourn her husband Leslie, two daughters, Gertie (Richard) Prosser, Jackie (Bruce) Derochie; one son, Collin; four grandchildren, John, Leah, Jenna and Amy; sister, Marie (John) Warren; two brothers, Lloyd (Susan) Blagdon, Infield, NS and Tom (Marie) Blagdon, Fortune Bay; sister-in-law, Harriet Warren. Funeral services took place from St. Augustine's Anglican Church, Fox Roost with Rev. Vallis officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery.

FRANCIS, CLARENCE
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clarence Francis announce his passing at his residence on December 21st, 2000 at the age of 69. He leaves to mourn his wife Theresa; two daughters, Judy (David) LeRiche, Donna (Carl) Osmond; son, Everett "Bert" (Alma), St. Stephen's, NB; 10 grandchildren, Teshia, Janet, Curtis, Christopher, Scott, Michael, Rebecca, Daniel, Kelly and Sam; three brothers, Walter, Arthur and Ossie; two sisters, Margie Ongo, NS and Dorothy Cross. The funeral service was held on Dec. 23rd from St. James Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Small. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery.

HARDY, THERESA CLARA (MUNDEN)
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Theresa Clara Hardy announce her passing at Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre on December 22nd, 2000 at the age of 82. She leaves to mourn four daughters, Eva (Don) Anderson, Amelia (James) Young, Burgeo, Daphne (Calvin) Rose, Donna (Gary) Dominie, Rose Blanche; five sons, Edwin Jr. (Jean), St. Andrews, Wilfred (Sandra), Marystown, James (Lorraine), Austin (Judy), Melvin (Sheila) in Rose Blanche; 27 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; brother, Charles Munden, Bridgetown, NS. She was predeceased by her husband Edwin Hardy on April 3rd, 1991. Funeral services took place on Dec. 24th at the St. Michael's and All Angels Church with Rev. Clayton Billard officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Margaree.

LOMOND, MAXWELL GORDON
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Maxwell Gordon Lomond announce his passing at his residence on Saturday, December 23rd, 2000 at the age of 61 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is his wife of 42 years Rebecca "Kitty"; three daughters: Patricia (Ronald), Yellowknife, Wanda-Lee and friend James Blackmore, Cape Ray, Leann and friend Austin Parsons, Cape Ray; two sons, Bruce (Rhonda), Lower Sackville, NS, and Perry (Marina) of Grand Falls; 6 grandchildren, Steven, Marty, Tina, Scott, Wendy and Anthony (Andy) and great grandson Brandon; his father, Maxwell C. Lomond, Port aux Basques; brothers, James (Rita), Port aux Basques, George (Gladys), Port aux Basques, Richard (Regina)Annapolis Valley, NS; sisters, Mrs. Alfreda Wells, Port aux Basques, and Linda Lomond of Port aux Basques, Ivy (Bernard) Benoit of Doyles; brother-in-law William Hickey of Sydney Mines, NS. He was predeceased by his daughter, Deborah, mother, Ivy Lomond (Lillington), sister, Lillian Hickey, brothers, Philip and Robert Lomond and brother-in-law, Wilbur Wells. The funeral service was held on Dec. 28th from St. James Anglican Church. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery.

PATEY, NORMAN
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Norman Patey announce his passing at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre on December 24th, 2000 at the age of 84 years. Leaving to mourn are four sons, Edward (Loretta), Norman (Catherine), Alvin and Daniel; daughter, Gloria (Wilfred) LeRiche; brothers, Isaac (Nora) and Russell (Gertie); sisters, Emily (Ernest) Short and Gertie (Montford) Patey; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Jane, daughter, Cedilla Gale, brother, George and sister, Mary Hodder. The funeral service was held on Dec. 27th from St. James Anglican Church. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery.
