TAYLOR, THOMAS
Passed away at CLHC on January 3, 1999, Thomas Taylor of Harbour Le Cou aged 89. He leaves to mourn his sisters, Elizabeth Organ, Martha Frances, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Sara and Samuel Taylor, brothers and sisters, Andrew, Charles, Leslie, Anne, Mary and Lillian. His remains rested at St. Michael's and All Angels, Rose Blanche. Funeral services took place on January 6, 1999 officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Margaree.


WALTERS, HOWARD
Passed away at the North Side General Hospital, North Sydney, NS. on January 12, 1999 aged 85. He was predeceased by his wife Annie in 1974. He leaves to mourn 4 sons, Eric (Teresa), Frank (Linda) of Syndey Mines, Albert (Jean), Art (Barbara) of Port aux Basques; 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and a wide circle of relatives and friends. His remains rested at Ford's Funeral Home. Services took place on January 15, 1999 at St. James Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Nelson Small, Rev. George Childs and Eric Mullins. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery, Barachois Hill.


SHORT, GEORGE
Passed away at CLHC on January 14, 1999, George Phillip Short aged 79 of Cape Ray. He leaves to mourn a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends Eric and Vera Stoodley of Port aux Basques with whom he resided for 9 years. His remains rested at Ford's Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on January 16 1999, 2pm at St. John the Evangelist Church, Cape Ray, officiated by Rev. E. Smith and Rev. G. Critchell. Interment followed at Cape Ray Anglican Cemetery, under the direction of Ford's Funeral Home Ltd.


HINKS, FLORENCE nee CRIBB
Passed away peacefully at Benoit's Nursing Home on January 21, 1999, Florence Augusta Hinks (nee Cribb) aged 86. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1969, 2 daughters, Mary and May; sisters Susie and Theresa; brothers John and Sandy. She leaves to mourn 7 children, Cyril of Corner Brook, Elsie (Art) Anderson, Ted (Pauline), Jim (Grace), Sandra (Frank) Spencer of Port aux Basques, Nora (Earl) Stone of Ontario, Beverly Ford of St. John's; 21 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a large circle of friends and relatives. Her remains rested at Ford's Funeral Home. Funeral service took place on January 23, 1999 2pm at St. James Anglican Church, Port aux Basques officiated by Rev. Nelson Small, Rev. George Childs and Eric Mullins. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery, Barachois Hill


BRAGG, CHARLES
Passed away peacefully at the O'Connell Centre in Corner Brook on January 22, 1999 Charles Henry Bragg, aged 87. He leaves to mourn his niece, Selina (Hubert) Anderson, nephew, Edgar Bragg, great niece and nephew, whom he considered grandchildren, Jolene and Hubert Anderson Jr. all whom he resided with in Isle aux Morts, and nephew Ivan Kinslow of Massachusetts, also a wide circle of other nieces, nephews and friends. His remains rested at Holy Spirit Anglican Church, Isle aux Morts. Funeral services took place on January 25, 1999 2pm at Holy Spirit officiated by Rev. Carol Daley. Interment followed at Holy Spirit Cemetery under the direction of Ford's Funeral Home Ltd.


OSMOND, PHOEBE nee DODGE
Passed away peacefully at Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, NS on January 21, 1999, Phoebe Ethel Osmond (nee Dodge) aged 70. She leaves to mourn 5 children, Richard (Karen), David, Margaret (Ward) Rowsell, Wade of Halifax, Meta (Frank) of Port aux Basques; 5 grandchildren; mother, Catherine Dodge of Grand Bank; sisters, Meta Dodge of St. John's and Sarah Mathews of North Sydney; brother Earl Dodge of Grand Bank and a circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Her remains rested at Ford's Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on January 23, 1999 4pm at St. James Anglican Church Port aux Basques officiated by Rev. Nelson Small, Rev. George Childs and Eric Mullins. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery, Barachois Hill under the direction of Ford's Funeral Home Ltd.


SEAWARD, ELIZABETH
Passed away peacefully at Western Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook, on January 25, 1999, Elizabeth Seward in her 69th year. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley in 1990. She leaves to mourn 6 loving children, Stan (Marjorie), Garfield (Barb), Doug (Lorraine), Melvin (Janice), Lorne (Mary Ellen), of Cape Ray, Valerie (Arthur) Lomond, of Port aux Basques; daughter in law, Sharon of PEI; 12 grandchildren, Tammy, Jamie, Candace, Troy, Jonathon, Jenine, Penny Lou, Melissa, Sheldon, Holly, Brent, and Lorna; 3 brothers, James (Fanny), of Port aux Basques, Alex (Eliza) of Topsail, Jack (Mary) of Marystown; as well as a wide circle of friends and relatives. Her remains rested at Ford's Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on January 28, 1999 2pm at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Cape Ray officiated by Rev E.M. Smith. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery, Barachois Hill, under the direction of Ford's Funeral Home Ltd.


CHISLETT, MONTFORD
Passed away at CLHC on January 24, 1999, Montford Chislett of Rose Blanche, aged 84. He leaves to mourn his wife, Fannie and 7 children, Kathleen (Brian) Loder, Carter (Annie), Joan (Ephram) Young, Gary (Romana), Bernice Durnford, and Tracy, all of Rose Blanche; Eric (Sharlene) of Alberta; 10 grandchildren; brother, Philip of Glace Bay; sisters, Susie of Glace Bay; sister in law, Lillian (Thomas) Hatcher of Rose Blanche, Mary (Lewis) Strickland of Glace Bay and Susie (Fred) Bennet of Winnipeg; brothers in law, Rueben (Betty) of Baddeck, Bill (Dolly) of Manadou, and a large circle of friends and relatives. He was predeceased by by his brother, Thomas, sister Mary, and sister in law, Cassie. His remains rested at St. Michael's and All Angels Church, Rose Blanche. Funeral services took place on January 27, 1999 2pm at St. Michael's officiated by Rev. George Critchell. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Margaree under the direction of Ford's Funeral Home Ltd.


CARTER, ADA (STYLES)
Passed away at CLHC on January 26, 1999, Ada Carter aged 78. She was predeceased by her first husband, Maxwell Currie in 1973, second husband, Robert Carter, in 1981, and son, Roy in 1997. She leaves to mourn her daughter in law, Rita Currie of Rose Blanche, grandson Jeffrey (Carolyn) of Kelligrews and granddaughter, Angela (John) Murphy of Goulds; sister Hannah (Jim) Currie of Rose Blanche; brothers, Jack, Jim (Martha) of Rose Blanche, Montford (Ruth) of North Sydney; sisters and brothers in law, Annie Styles of Port aux Basques, Maud Kendall of St. John's, Dolly (Brainard) Levalliant of Lower Sackville, Mary Pike and Margaret Fraser of Port aux Basques, Jacob Critchley of Ont., Alex Knee of Rose Blanche, Max Carter of St. John's, Eric (Mary) Carter of Bishop's Falls, Isaac (Geraldine) Carter of Port aux Basques, and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Sarah, Betty, Elizabeth and brothers, Samuel and Thomas. Her remains rested at Ford's Funeral Home. BILLARD, MICHAEL DAMIEN
Passed away peacefully at WMRH, Corner Brook on January 27, 1999 aged 13 years. He leaves to mourn his parents, John and Sharon Billard and brother Junior; grandparents, Cyril and Audrey Billard of Margaree; grandmother, Mary Billard of Rose Blanche; great- grandmother, Rebecca Kendell of Margaree, great-grandfather, John Best of Port aux Basques, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. His remains rested at St. Augustine's Church, Margaree. Funeral services took place at 2pm on January 30, 1999 at St. Augustine's officiated by Rev. Carol Daley, Capt. Byron Kean and Herb Park. Interment followed at St. Augustine's Cemetery, Margaree under the direction of Ford's Funeral Home Ltd.


MULLINS, ABNER
Passed away at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center, Grand Falls-Windsor, on January 17, 1999, Abner Mullins, aged 82. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary in 1972, and brothers, Leonard and Gerald. He leaves to mourn his wife Sally; children, Bill and Ferne of Dartmouth, NS, Mona (Amos) Collier of Codroy, Mary (Clarence) Dowding, Annette (Alvin) Kettle of Port aux Basques, Elsie (Arch) Parsons of Kingston, Ont., Jim (Janice) Sheppard, Lawrence Sheppard of Rencontre East, Vera (Don) Skinner of Harbour Breton, Mona Sheppard of Toronto, Ont., Aaron Sheppard (Chris) of Eastern Passage, NS; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, George Mullins of New Bedford, Mass., Bertha Carter, Marjorie Pauls, and Priscilla Sheaves of Port aux Basques, Emily (Gerald) Comeay of Church Point, NS, Earl (Winnie) Mullins of English Harbour West, Dorothy Sheppard, John (Sadie) Mullins of Rencontre East; sisters in law, Vera Keeping, Amy Evans, and Carrie Byrne of Rencontre East, brother in law, Joseph (Margaret) Lavhey of Port aux Basques and special friends, Max and Daphane Blackwood of Grand Falls-Windsor. GALE, SIMON
Passed away at CLHC on January 31, 1999, Simon Joseph Gale, aged 68. He leaves to mourn his spouse, Vivian Parsons; sons, Simon Parsons of Codroy, and William Curnew of Searston; 4 grandchildren, Laura, Sherry, Amanda, and Sarah; sisters, Theresa Hefferman of Sydney NS, Margaret Crouse of Middleton, NS, brother Patrick (Pauline) of Codroy, also a circle of nieces, e onews and friends. His remains rested at St. Anne's Church, Upper Ferry. Funeral Mass took place on February 2, 1999 2:30 pm at St. Anne's officiated by Father Emmanuel. Interment followed at Mount St. Thomas Cemetery, Great Codroy under the direction of Ford's Funeral Home Ltd.


BEATON, JOHN JOSEPH RUSSEL
After a courageous battle with cancer, he passed away peacefully on January 27, 1999 in his 75th year at Mississauga Hospital. He was comforted to the end by his loving family - wife Rita of 49 years; daughter Mary (Tony) Vecchiola of Mississauga; son Joe (Sharron) White of Burlington; grandchildren, Barb and Bill Skeard of Corner Brook, Nicole, Stephen, Anthony Vecchiola and Marnie Fisher and Terri Davies all of Mississauga. He is now under God's care with his son, James White and daughter Una Hibbs, who is survived by her husband, Kenny. Also survived by son, Terrance (Connie) White and their children, Jason, Jamie, and Jennifer, all of Kamloops BC and Valerie and Ginny White of Hamilton, Ont.; sisters, Greta and Myrtle and brother James. Predeceased by brother, Greggy, sisters, Mary and Shirley . A man whose relentless gift of love and laughter touched all those fortunate enough to know him. Funeral services were held at St. Anne's Parish in Codroy Valley on February 1, 1999 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations were made to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Russell Beaton.


KENDALL, DOROTHY (SCOTT)
Passed away at the Western Memorial Hospital in Corner Brook on Feb.1/99 Dorothy Kendall (nee Scott) aged 75. She was predeceased by her husband John Kendall in 1985. She leaves to mourn 8 children, Gordon, Leslie, Shirley (Chesley) Osmond, Philip, Larry (Lorena), Jeanette (John) Billard all of Margaree, Vivian (Edward) McQuarrie of Tompkins, Nancy (Tom) Dodge of Port aux Basques; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister Winnifred Hatcher of Halifax and brother Philip Scott of Grand Bank, also a large circle of friends and relatives. Her remains rested at St. Augustine's Anglican church Margaree. Funeral services took place on Feb. 4, 1999 at 2 pm officiated by Rev. Carol Daley. Interment followed at St. Augustine's Cemetery, Margaree under the direction of Ford's Funeral Home Ltd.


EVANS, WINNIFRED (HAYMAN)
Passed away peacefully at Vera and Eric Stoodley's residence on Feb. 16, 1999, Annie Winifred Evans (nee Hayman) aged 80 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Allan in 1992. She leaves to mourn 6 children, Geraldine (Lynn) Hulan of Jeffrey's, Maxwell (Shirley), Jack (Sandra) of Isle aux Morts, Sherry Evans of St. John's, Dale (Allison) Skeard of Fort Saint John, BC, Nola (Tom) Butt of Port aux Basques; 19 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren; caregivers and close friends Eric and Vera Stoodley and seniors with whom she resided, also a large circle of relatives and friends. She was also predeceased by her parents, Ester and Samuel Hayman. Her remains rested at Holy Spirit Anglican church, Isle aux Morts. Funeral services took place on Feb.18, 1999 at 2pm with Rev. George Childs officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Anglican Cemetery, under the direction of Ford's Funeral Home Ltd.


MOYST, VIOLET S.
It is with sadness and regret that the family of the late Mrs. Moyst announce her passing at Western Memorial Hospital on Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999 in her 90th year. She will be sadly missed by her family-- husband Ralph, daughter Irene Hatcher of Rose Blanche; grandchildren, Joanne (Stewart) Hatcher of Rose Blanche, Doreen Dwyer of Ontario, Rex (Sharon) of Winnipeg and Dwight Hatcher of Corner Brook; great-grandson Tony of Rose Blanche, great-grandaughter Patti in Fox Roost; sisters-in-law, Mabel Dingwell of Corner Brook and Millie Moyst of St. John's; nephew, Harry Durnford of Halifax; nieces, Janie Neill of Florida and Dorothy Green of Halifax. She will be missed by a large number of relatives and friends, especially her dear friend Hazel Maloney of Corner Brook. The funeral service took place at the Seventh-day Adventist Church on Philip Drive with Pastor Hanon Merrill officiating. Interment at Mount Patricia Cemetery Receiving Chapel.


FRANCIS, MARTHA (TAYLOR)
Passed away at the WMRH on February 20, 1999, Martha Francis (nee Taylor) of LaPoile, aged 80 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles in 1985. She leaves to mourn five children, Ron of Margaree, Mary Jane (James) Taylor, Clifford and wife Elsie, Blantford and wife Olive, all of Burnt Islands, Garfield and wife, Mildred of Halifax; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Bessie Organ of Port aux Basques, and a large circle of friends and relatives. Her remains rested at St. Thomas Church, LaPoile. Funeral sevices took place on February 22, 1999 at St. Thomas Church officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. Interment followed at LaPoile Cemetery, under the direction of Ford's Funeral Home.


STROUD, WILLIAM
Passed away at the Waterford Hospital in St. John's on February 25, 1999, William David Stroud of Rose Blanche, aged 76 years. He was predeceased by his son Gary in 1980. He leaves to mourn his wife Susan and son Raymond (Marion) Rose Blanche; 2 grandchildren: Gina and boyfriend Claude of Carbonear, Tracy and boyfriend Colin of Halifax, great-grandchild Kendra; sister Abigal (Mrs. Wilson Keeping) of Rose Blanche, and a large cirle of friends and relatives. His remains rested at St. Michael's and All Angels Church, Rose Blanc Funeral sevices took place on February 28, 1999, 2pm at St. Michael's and All Angels Church officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Anglican Cemetery under the direction of Ford's Funeral Home Ltd.


COLLEY, AUSTIN ROBERT
Passed peacefully away at Health Sciences Center on March 3, 1999, in his 82nd year. Leaving to mourn his wife Faith (Hatcher); daughter, Lorna (Melvin) Crewe, St. John's; loving grandson, Stephen; 2 sisters, Blanche (Austin) Vatcher, Mount Pearl, Margaret Siddall, Coquitlam, BC; sister in law Florence Colley, Port aux Basques; brother in law Austin Martin, Fredricton, NB; other friends and relatives. Predeceased by his mother and father Ambrose and Violetta; brothers, Clarence and Gordon; sisters, Josephine Martin and Estelle Morris. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Ford's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. Funeral services took place on March 6, 1999, 2pm at St. James Church officiated by Rev. Nelson Small and Rev. George Childs. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery, Barachois Hill.


NcNEIL, CYNTHIA
Passed away peacefully at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on March 4, 1999, Cynthia McNeil of Creston South in her 42nd year. Leaving to mourn husband David and son Stephen; 5 brothers, Gerald (Malida), Clyde (Elizabeth), Roy (Ann) of Creston South; Roland (Ruth) of Winterland, and Alvin (Phyllis) of Mount Pearl; mother, Mrs Susanna Barter of Creston South; mother and father in law William and Elsie McNeil of Port aux Basques; sisters in law, Judy (Fred) LeRiche of Port aux Basques; Vivian (Dave) White of Bridgewater; Yvonne (Claude) Hann of Halifax, Audrey (Derek) Warren of Alberta, Bonita of BC; Karen (Jeff) Dickson of Ont., Colleen (Roy) Standing of Port aux Basques; brothers in law, Tony (Christine) of South Branch, Roger (Wanda) McNeil of Alberta; also a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her father James Barter in 1983.


LAWRENCE, GEORGE GIDEON
It is with great sadness that the family announce the accidental death of George Lawrence aged 70 years. He leaves to mourn his wife Margaret and 9 children; Terry Hatcher, Roxanne Lawrence of Port aux Basques, Howard and Mary Ann of Glace Bay, NS, Alice Lawrence, Timothy, Roy and Sharon of Halifax, NS, Ivan of Brampton, Ont., John of Toronto, Ont., and Harry of Burnt Islands; 16 grandchildren; brothers Clyde of Port aux Basques and Clifford and Alice of St. John NB. Funeral services took place March 7, 1999 at 2pm at St. Georges Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Anglican Cemetery.


VARDY, VIOLET (PINK)
Passed away at CLHC on March 15, 1999 Violet Vardy (nee Pink) in her 76th year. She was the daughter of the late George and Sarah (Dominie) Pink. She was predeceased by her husband, George in 1986, brother Randell Pink in 1995 and sister Carrie Purcell in 1998. She leaves to mourn her sister, Ada (Albert) Strickland of Halifax, very close friends, Edgar and Brenda Bailey of Port aux Basques, also a wide circle of nieces, nephews and friends, especially the friends at Mountain Hope Manor with whom she resided. Her remains rested at Ford's Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on March 17, 1999 2pm at St. James Anglican Church, Port aux Basques officiated by Rev. Nelson Small, Rev. George Childs, Rev. James Eveleigh and Eric Mullins. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery, Barachois Hill under the direction of Ford's Funeral Home.


BILLARD, MELIDA JOANNA
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Melida Billard announce her passing on March 16, 1999 in her 83rd year. Formerly of Grand Bruit, recently at Bay St. George Long Term Care where she resided with her husband of 60 years, Thomas also of Grand Bruit. She will be lovingly missed by her husband Thomas; 4 sons, Clayton (Jackie) Halifax, Clarence (Barbara) Corner Brook, James (Lois) St. John's, Clyde (Cindy) Grand Bruit; 6 daughters, Emily (Clyde) Pardy Pasadena, Mona (Don) Billard Grand Bruit, Maisie (Roland) Herridge St. John's, Doreen (Brian) Walsh Bay de Verde, Vera (Wesley) Billard Grand Bruit; 26 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, James and Clifford of North Sydney, Gilbert of St. Catherines, Wilfred of Corner Brook and one sister, Hazel Crant, Corner Brook, son in law Roy Herridge, St. John's. She will also be missed by a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Predeceased by her daughter, Evelyn Herridge, grandson Sidney and brothers William and John. Visitation took place from Fillatre's Funeral Home, Corner Brook and from the United Church, Grand Bruit from where the service took place on March 19, 1999 2pm. Interment followed at the church cemetery.


MARTYN, MARGARET ANN nee GRIFFEN
Passed away March 22, 1999 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital Margaret Martyn in her 86th year. Margaret was the the wife of Charles Martyn who predeceased her in 1965. She was also predeceased by her brother Pat Griffen and her son in law David Lee. She will be sadly missed by her 2 sons, Charles (Sheila), Barry (Irene); 7 daughters, Connie (Mike) Brothers, Gertrude (Roger) Humber, Irene (Bob) Brake, Kathleen Lee, Margaret-Lynn (Terry) Tobin, , Marian (Doug) McMaster, Anne (Dave) Brennan; 25 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Anthony, Joe and Gerard; 3 sisters, Kathleen, Gertrude and Mary; sister in law, Marian Griffin and a large circle of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Funeral services took place March 24, 199 10:30am at Most Holy Redeemer Receiving Chaple, Corner Brook followed by interment at Mt. Patrica Cemetery.

Passed away at Charles Legrow Health Center, Port aux Basques on March 28, 1999, Mary Ann Keeping in her 87th year. She was predeceased by her husband Garfield in 1989, daughter Catherine HOUSE in 1994, grandchildren Dennis HOUSE in 1969 and David H. HOUSE in 1995. She leaves to mourn 7 children; Wilson (Abigal) Bessie (Raymond) GILLARD, Arthur (Peggy), William (Sebina) of Rose Blanche, Edwin (Mary) of Grand Bank, Shirley (Edward) COKES of Bay d'Espoir, Lockland (Izabelle) of Isle aux Morts; 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; son in law Charles HOUSE of Gaultois; brother Lockland LODER of Port aux Basques, Sisters Josie (Jim) VALLIS of Rose Blanche and Rosie (Harvey) BUNTER of Moncton, NB Funeral services took place March 31, 1999 2:00pm at St. Michael's and All Angels Church, Rose Blanche officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery.


LAWRENCE, VERA nee NEIL
Passed away at Charles LeGrow Health Center, Port aux Basques on March 26, 1999 Vera Lawrence in her 68th year. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1995. She leaves to mourn her close friend and companion Cecil BILLARD of Port aux Basques and 12 children; Carrie (George) LAVHEY of Terrenceville, Joey (Marilyn), Austin (Marie) of Isle aux Morts, Donna (Harold) O'REILLY, Donalda (Jeremy) ORGAN, and Alma of Gander, Hank (Ann), Victor (Carol), Guy (Trudy) of Lower Sackville, NS, Winston (Fran) of Goose Bay, Lab, Donnie (Laurie) of Mt. The passing of Austin Martin occured on Tuesday, May 18, 1999 aged 88 years, in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Born on April 25, 1911, Austin was a native of Port aux Basques, Nfld and was predeceased by his beloved wife Josephine (nee Colley) 4 years ago. He is survived by his only son Robert and wife Margaret (nee Pepper) and 2 grand-daughters Allison and Andrea all of Fredericton. A loving and gentle father and grandfather, Austin will be laid to rest next to his late wife and true love, Josephine, in the Anglican cemetery at Port aux Basques, Nfld. A memorial service and interment will be held at St. James Anglican church at a later date.

Died, surrounded by family and friends, at Charles LeGrow Health Centre, Port aux Basques on November 3rd, 1999 aged 56 years. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; son, David (Trudy) and daughter, Kelly (Terry). Also his mother, Effie Mary Hatch; sisters, Margaret (Roland) Pinsent, Pauline (Jack) Rowsell; brothers, Don (Beverly), and Wade (Beth Ann). His father, Allan, died in 1968. He will be missed by the Walters and Kettle families. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Ford's Funeral Home. He was loved very much and we will miss him every day of our lives.

RUSSELL, ROSE nee CARTER
Rose Russell
. 82 passed away December 8th, 1999 at Northwood Center. Born at Francois, Nfld, she was the daughter of the late Capt. Rueben and Sarah (Dollimount) Carter. She was a supporter of many charitable organizations, especially the Red Cross and her much loved St. James Anglican Church. In 1977 Rose and her good friend, Mable Doucette joined the Red Cross, they were with the service committee which did visiting and telephone chain and organizing senior outings. In 1980 Rose received "The Red Cross Service Award". She was also a church visitor and visited people at Northwood Manor as well as people at their homes. Rose worked as a seamstress at Simpsons for many years. She is survived by her brother, Edward and Sarah Carter; brother in law, Sandy Payne, Ramea; sister, Edith and Ike Warren, Louisbourg; sister, Rita and Alex Livingstone, Bedford. Predeceased by her husband, William Russell, sister, Bessie Payne, Ramea. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held at St. James Anglican Church, Armdale on December 11th at 2pm. Private family burial in Brookside Cemetery, Bedford, NS.

He leaves to mourn his mother, Marilyn Bragg and his father, William Osmond; three sisters, Darlene Anderson, Cathy (Craig) Whalen of St. John's, Jackie and Bob of Port aux Basques; 2 neices, Candace and Brooke. Funeral services took place on January 3rd 2pm at St. James Anglican Church officiated by Rev. George Childs and Eric Mullins. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill.


BAGGS, EMMA FLORENCE nee COLEY
Passed away at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre on December 30th, 1999, Emma Florence Baggs, in her 83rd year. She was predeceased by her husband, John in 1997. She leaves to mourn three children, Tillie (Freeman) Bennett, Joe, and Wanda(John) Thorne all of Port aux Basques; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services took place on January 2nd 2pm at St. James Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Nelson Small, Rev. George Childs and Eric Mullins. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill.


YOUNG, EDWIN
Passed away at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre on December 5th, 1999, Edwin Young, in his 79th year. He leaves to mourn his wife of 47 years, Mary Ann; two children, Sidney (Jane) of Port aux Basques, Gary of Ramea; 4 grandchildren, Jamie, Jason, Samantha and Morgan. Funeral services took place on December 7th, 2pm at St. Boniface Church, Ramea officiated by Rev. Trudy Sullivan and Rev. George Critchell. Interment followed at St. Boniface Anglican Cemetery.


SAMMS, ARTHUR VINCENT
Passed away at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on December 27th, 1999, Arthur Vincent Samms, in his 75th year. He leaves to mourn his wife, Elizabeth nee Gale and five sons, Eli and Margaret, Wallace and Alicia of Codroy, Charles and Karen of Port Colborne, Ont., Francis and Valery of Oshawa, Ont.;12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; two sisters, Sadie (Fred) Young of Montreal, Que., Mary (Alex) Drummond of Kingston, Ont., two brothers, Edward and Dorcas of Kingston, Ont., Jack and Regeanne of Shediac, N.B. Funeral mass took place on December 29th, 3pm at St. Anne's RC Church, Upper Ferry, officiated by Father D.T. McGrath. Interment followed at Mount St. Thomas RC Cemetery.
