CORMIER, AGNES DOROTHY (nee McISAAC)
Passed away at the Charles Legrow Health Center on Sept.19 1998, Agnes Dorothy Cormier in her 80th year. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas in 1987 and son Eric in 1995. She leaves to mourn 11 children: Gladys Muise of South Branch, Johnny and wife Eileen of Wabush, Labrador, Magdelen (Mrs. Ronald O'Quinn) of Geraldton, Ont. Alice (Mrs. Stanley Hayden) of Thunder Bay, Wilfred and wife Diane of Truro NS, Andrew and wife Peggy of Geraldton, Noreen (Mrs.Barry Thorne) of Borden, Norma (Mrs. Pat Cornelius) of Kingston, Joan (Mrs. Mike Verrier) of Kingston; brother Thomas McIsaac of South Branch; 33 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; as well as a wide circle of special friends and relatives. Her remains rested at St. Sylvester Roman Catholic Church. Funeral mass took place on Sept. 23 1998, 3pm officiated by Father Emmanuel Quahishia Internment followed at St. Sylvester RC Cemetery, under the direction of Ford's Funeral Home Ltd.


BOND, THOMAS
Passed away at CLHC on October 25, 1998 Thomas K Bond in his 81st year. He was predeceased by his wife Florence in 1996. He leaves to mourn 11 children; Vera Herritt of Burnt Islands, Rose Brinston of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Clifford (Viola), Louis (Gloria) Phillip (Dulcie), Melvin (Rita), Diane (Isaac) Taylor, Eileen (Alex) Chant all of LaPoile, Gary (Delores) of Burnt Islands, Brenda (Bruce) Wheaton of Fredrickton, NB., Kevin (Gale) of Louisbourgh, NS.; 42 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson, and a large circle of relatives and friends. He was also predeceased by his brothers and sisters; Walter, Albert, Louis, Carrie, Elsie, Adelade and Nora. His remains rested at St. Thomas Anglican Church, La Poile. Services took place on October 29, 1998 2pm officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. Interment followed at LaPoile Anglican Cemetery.


GILLAM, MAUDE nee LOMOND
Passed away at her daughter's home in Grand Bay on October 12, 1998 Alice Maude Gillam (nee Lomond) in her 87th year. She was predeceased by her husband James in 1967 and son Eric in 1985. She leaves to mourn 10 children; Susie (Charles) Matthews of Grand Bay, Josie Dowdling of Prince Rupert, BC., Ada Dingwell of Port aux Basques, Eve (Dennis) Loder of Mount Pearl, Christina Lomond, Kathleen (Wilfred) LeRiche, Blanche (Eugene) Pike, with whom she resided, Nora (Chesley) Kettle, Vincent (Darlene) all of Grand Bay, Isaac (Irene) of Rocky Harbour; 22 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great-granchildren, brothers, Russell (Pearl), James (Maude) of Grand Bay. Daughter in law Minnie O'Quinn in St. Andrews, sisters in law Lillian and Lena Lomond of Grand Bay. She was also predeceased by her parents Joseph and May Lomond, sons in law Gerald Dingwell, Alfred Dowdling and Clayton Lomond, sister Elizabeth Buttery, brothers Stanley and Walter. Her remains rested at Ford's Funeral Home. Services took place on November 2, 1998 2pm at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Grand Bay officiated by Rev. Evelyn Smith. Interment followed at St. Paul's Cemetery, Grand Bay.


ANDERSON, BESSIE nee STRICKLAND
Passed away at CLHC on October 30, 1998 Bessie Anderson (nee Strickland) in her 83rd year. She was predeceased by her husband Nelson in 1995. She leaves to mourn 1 son and 7 daughters, Hubert (Selina) of Isle aux Morts, Marie (Wilson) Bond of Burnt Islands, Gloria (Leo) Parsons, Pearl (Joseph) Rumbolt, Phoebe, Eva (Bill) Spicer of Rose Blanche, Mildred (Ivan) Spencer and Elizabeth of Port aux Basques, 22 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sisters, Violet Taylor of Port aux Basques, Alice Strickland of Petite's and a circle of relatives and friends. Her remains rested at St Michael's and All Angels Church, Rose Blanche officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. Interment followed at Hillside Haven, Margaree.


DOWNEY, MARY
Passed away at CLHC on November 10, 1998 Mary Elizabeth Downey aged 69. She was predeceased by her first husband Neil McIsaac in 1979. She leaves to mourn her husband Leo H Downey, and 5 children; James (Gertrude) McIsaac, Ann (Bill) Hynes, of O'Regan's, Lorrain (Paul) Chaisson of Tompkins, Gerard (Jessie) McIsaac of Goose Bay, Lab., Sherry McIsaac and Alain of Halifax; 8grandchildren and a circle of brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and friends. Her remains rested at St. Anne's Church, Upper Ferry. Funeral Mass took place on November 12, 1998 10am officiated by Father DT McGrath. Interment followed at Chaple Green Cemetery.


RYAN, CAROLINE
Passed away at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's on November 19, 1998 Caroline Margaret Ryan in her 58th year. She leaves to mourn her husband Wilfred and 5 children; Arthur of O'Reagan's, Olivera (Elroy) Sullivan of Miramachi, NB., Rowena of St. John's, Dion and Jerry of Calgary; grandchildren, Randi, Jessie, Jillian, and Aaron; brothers and sisters, Michael, Veronica, Philomena, Robert, Shirley, Charles, David, Colette, Colin and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her remains rested at St. Anne's Church, Upper Ferry. Funeral Mass took place on November 23, 1998 10:30am officiated by Father DT McGrath. Interment followed at Mount St. Thomas Cemetery.


PINK, CHESLEY
Passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on November 6, 1998 Chesley Pink in his 52nd year. He was predeceased by his father John in 1976. He leaves to mourn his mother Evelyn, wife Brenda and 2 children Helena (Eric) Ryan of Dartmouth, NS., Cindy of Port aux Basques; 3 grandchildren, brother Leslie (Helen) of Cole Harbour, mother in law Marie Pike of Port aux Basques; brothers in law Garf (Brenda) Dennis and friend Susan, Ross (Debbie); sister in law Diane (Roger) MacNeil; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. His remains rested at Ford's Funeral Home. Services took place on November 8, 1998 2pm at St. James Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Nelson Small, Rev. George Childs and Eric Mullins. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery, Barachois Hill.


YOUNG, WILLIAM
Passed away on November 10, 1998 at WMRH William Young in his 63rd year. He leaves to mourn his wife Elsie Blanche (nee Strickland); 3 daughters Clara (Bill) Crant and Charlotte (Lawrence) of Burgeo, Elsie (Derek) Warren of Ramea; 2 grandchildren; 4 brothers, Hayward (Loretta) Burgeo, Tom (Charlotte), Freeman (Joanne) of Fortune, Jim (Nadia) of Toronto; 2 sisters, Phyllis (Bill) Young, Ramea, Mary (Albert) Cobbs of Ont.; sisters in law Annie Strickland Burgeo, Mary (Leo) Pye, Halifax; brother in law Jim (Annie) Strickland Ramea and a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents John and Clara Young and brother in law Douglas Strickland. Funeral services took place at St. John the Evangilist Anglican Church in Burgeo November 13, 1998 2pm officiated by Rev. Byron Barter. Interment followed at the church cemetery.


DOMINEY, JOHN
Passed away at Loch Lomond Villa, St. John NB., on November 3, 1998 John Dominey in his 88th year. He leaves to mourn his wife Leah, grandson Craig (Norma) Dominey of St. John NB., granddaughter Sherry Snow of Goose Bay, Lab, 2 great-grandsons, and a circle of nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his son Jack in 1966. His remains rested at Ford's Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on November 6, 1998 2pm at St. James Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Nelson Small, Rev. George Childs and Eric Mullins. Interment followed at High Street Cemetery, Port aux Basques.


LAWRENCE, FLORA LILLIAN
Passed away at her residence in Isle aux Morts on November 16, 1998, Flora Lillian Lawrence in her 76th year. She leaves to mourn her husband Cecil and 6 children; Seward (Martha) Russell (Susan) of Isle aux Morts, Mary LeRiche, Millie (Ike) Gillam of Port aux Basques, Violet (Al) Luders, and Eric (Linda) of Brockville, Ont.; 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; sister Ida Hardy of Isle aux Morts, sister in law Marcella Huelin of Isle aux Morts; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a son, daughter, sister Millie, brother John, son in law Howard, as well as her parents Mary Ann and John. Funeral services took place on November 19, 1998 2pm at Holy Spirit Anglican Church officiated by Rev. George Childs. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road.


BUTTERY, JAMES THOMAS
Passed away at his residence on November 13, 1998 James Thomas Buttery in his 68th year. He was predeceased by his wife Ada on July 15, 1998. He leaves to mourn 4 children, Debbie (Bill) Roberts of Hermitage, Nancy (Gary) Mushrow of St. John, NB., Robert (Nancy) of Robinsons, Ronnie (Paulette) of Halifax, NS.; brothers Fred (Jessie), Clyde (Winnie), Richard (Mary); sisters, Betty (Tom) Fancis, Maggie Pearce, and Annie Cousins all of Port aux Basques, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, sisters in law; Dorcas (Robert) Wallingham, of Halifax, Dulcie (George) Gillam of Port aux Basques; brothers in law, Llewelyn Kettle (Eileen) of Port aux Basques. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Hanna, sister Mary, and grandson Jimmy. His remains rested at Ford's Funeral Home. Services took place on November 16, 1998 2pm at St. Paul's Anglican Church officated by Rev. E. Smith and Rev. George Critchell. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill.


KING, ERIC
Passed away suddenly at he Health Sciences Centre, St. John's, on November 5, 1998 Eric King, in his 68th year. He was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Rachel. He leaves to mourn his wife Gertrude and 4 children; Roland (Corina), Shirley (Dennis) Hynes, Rachel, and Eric all of Burnt Islands; 3 grandchildren; sister Sarah Keeping of Burnt Islands, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral services took place on November 8, 1998 2pm at St. George's Church officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Rd.


OSMOND CATHERINE nee PEARCE
Passed away at CLHC on November20, 1998 Catherine Osmond in her 70th year. She leaves to mourn her husband Pearce and 3 children; Charlie (Heather), Una (Gerald) Osmond, Laura (Maurice) Noel with whom she resided, all of Port aux Basques; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances Coffin, Elsie Parsons, Theresa Currie, Phyllis Piercy and Caroline Pike, all of Port aux Basques; brothers, Llewellyn Pearce of Port aux Basques, Frank Pearce of Cape Ray; daughters in law, Cavella and Mary, also very special friend William Harvey, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by sons, Darrell in 1993, Terry in 1969, Nelson in 1955, brother Joseph in 1986 and sister Bridget in 1988. Her remains rested at Ford's Funeral Home. Services took place on November 23, 1998 at St. James Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Nelson Small and Rev. George Childs. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery, Barachois Hill.


PAYNE, LORNE
Passed away at CLHC on November 11, 1998 Lorne Joseph Payne in his 61st year. He leaves to mourn his wife Margaret, son Lloyd of Halifax and daughter Whitney MacDonald of Port aux Basques, brother Claude (Kathleen) of Port aux Basques, siters, Geraldine (Alfred) Anderson, Alma (Charles) Chaisson of Port aux Basques, Margaret (Jack) Ford of St. John's; sisters in law, Rose and Phoebe Payne of Port aux Basques, and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents George and Olive Payne, brothers, Isaac, Lucien, Willard, and sister in law Mary Payne. His remains rested at Ford's Funeral Home. Services took place on November 14, 1998 2pm at St. James Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Nelson Small, Rev. George Childs and Eric Mullins. Intermenent followed at St. James Cemetery, Barachois Hill.


BRAGG, HARRISON SR.
Passed away at the Health Services Center, St. John's on November 30, 1998 Harrison Bragg Sr. in his 78th year. He was a vetern of WW11 and a member of the Royal Canandian Legion. He leaves to mourn his daughter Ruth (Gord) Hatcher of Mississauga; son Harrison (Renee) of Port aux Basques; 5 grandchildren Cory and Lynn of Mississauga, Cavell of Toronto, Sheldon of Halifax, and Dean of Searston.; sisters, Rita Risk of Florida, Vera Nicholson of Sydney Mines, brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Melinda in November of 1997, as well as parents Blanche (nee White) and Edwin, and step-mother Julia; brothers Clifford, Frederick and Dean. His remains rested at Ford's Funeral Home. Services took place on December 3rd, 1998 2pm at St. Paul's Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Effie Hewitt, Rev. George Critchell. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery, Barachois Hill in the family plot.


HATCHER, BABY MICHAEL PAUL
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our darling baby boy, Michael Paul on November 21, 1998, 8 weeks old at CLHC. He leaves to mourn his parents, Joanne (nee Clarke) and Murdock; brother Matthew, step-sister Rowena Francis, step-brother Dermot Keeping and wife Tracy and their son Preston, all of Halifax; grandparents, Louise and Henry Clarke, Philip and Elizabeth Hatcher all of Rose Blanche, as well as a very large number of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. His remains rested at his home in Harbour Le Cou. Services took place on November 23, 1998 2pm at St. Michael's and All Angels Church officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery.


HERON, ANNIE (nee McDERMOTT)
Passed away at CLHC on November 30, 1998 Annie Marie Heron (nee McDermott) in her 82nd year. She was predeceased by her husband Hubert Bond in 1965. She leaves to mourn her second husband Wilson and 5 children, Wilson (Marie) Bond of Rose Blanche, Stan (Marnie) Bond of Harbour Le Cou, Lydia (Clayton) Francis of Pickering, Ont., Melida (Junior) Munden of Rose Blanche, Jacqueline (Kenneth) Keeping of Burnt Islands; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brother Stan McDermott of Diamond Cove and a large circle of relatives and friends. She was also predeceased by her son Harry Bond in 1995, grand-daughters Lorraine Bond in 1969 and Selina Bond in 1987. Her remains rested at her daughter, Melinda's home in Rose Blanche. Services took place on December 2, 1998 2pm at St Michael's and All Angels Church officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Margaree.


DUTOT, MABEL (nee STREET)
Passed away at her home on November 24, 1998 Mabel Christina Dutot nee Street in her 66th year. She was predeceased by her husband William in 1979. She leaves to mourn 2 daughters, Diane Dutot and Valerie Kennedy of Port aux Basques; grandson David Kennedy, sister Alma (Jack) Lillington of Port aux Basques; brothers, Matt (Ruth) of Port aux Basques, George (Florence) of Bay Roberts, Joe (Margaret) of Margaree, sisters in law and brothers in law Charlie (Nancy) Dutot, Max (Norma) Dutot of Port aux Basques, Marguerite (William) Devoy of California, Gladys (Claude) Porter of Pasadena, David (Marion) Dan (Marilyn) of Port aux Basques, and a wide circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father Wilson in 1987 and mother Maude in 1994. Her remains rested at Ford's Funeral Home. Services took place on November 27, 1998 2pm at St. James Anglican Church officiated by Rev. George Childs, Rev. Nelson Small and Eric Mullins. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery, Barachois Hill.


FARRELL, KAYLA MELISSA
It is with great sadness the family of Kayla Farrell announce the sudden passing of their beautiful little girl on December 10, 1998, 6 years old. She leaves to mourn her parents Christopher and Barbara, sister Brittany; grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Farrell of Port aux Basques, grandmother Bernice Gillis of Codroy as well as a large circle of aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. Her remains rested at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church. Funeral Mass took place on December 13, 1998 2pm officiated by Father DT McGrath. Interment followed at Mount St. Thomas Cemetery.


TOMPKINS, GERALDINE (NEE HAYES)
Passed away at her residence on December 29, 1998 Geraldine "Bride" Tompkins (nee Hayes) in her 75th year. She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1982. She leaves to mourn 5 children; David (Lana) Selkirk, Man, Paula (Andy) Kehler, Steinbach, Man, Kelly (Vicky) of Tompkins, Theresa (David) Stockley of Great Codroy, Joseph (Tracy) of St. John's; 9 grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Maryann Hayes of Stephenville, Frances Byrne of Kippens, Honora McPherson of Edmonton, Jimmy Hayes of Ottawa, Pat Hayes of St. John's, Mike Hayes of Ontario and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. She was also predeceased by her sister June Silver. Her remains rested at her home in Doyles. Funeral Mass took place December 31, 1998 at St. Anne's Church officiated by Father D.T. McGrath. Interment followed at St. Sylvester RC Cemetery, South Branch.


JEANS, ADA (nee SHORT)
Passed away at CLHC on December 4, 1998 Ada Florence Jeans nee Short in her 78th year. She leaves to mourn her husband Walter, daughter Pat (Doug) King and grand-daughter Angie, all of Port aux Basques; sister Annamercie Carter of Deer Lake, and brother Ambrose (Hilda) Short of Port aux Basques and a large circle of relatives and friends. Her remains rested at Ford's Funeral Home. Services took place on December 7, 1998 2pm at St. James Anglican Church officiated by Rev. George Childs and Eric Mullins. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery, Barachois Hill.


KEEPING, JOHN
Passed away at CLHC on December 2, 1998 John Keeping in his 63rd year. He leaves to mourn his wife Anna and 4 children, Henry and Sheila, Wayne, Roland and wife Roxanne, Minnie (Melvin) Osmond, all of Port aux Basques; 3 grandchildren Megan, Cyril and Jody; brother, Hurbert (Susie) of Port aux Basques; sisters, Minnie (Charlie) Paddock of Yarmouth, Susie (Wifred) Billard of Margaree, Martha Osmond, Cecily (Dave) Mauger, Ruth (Ralph) LeRiche, Gertrude (Ross) Patey all of Port aux Basques, Belinda (Herb) Skeard of Pasadena and a large circle of relatives and friends. His remains rested at Ford's Funeral Home. Services took place on December 4, 1998 2pm at St. James Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Nelson Small and Eric Mullins. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery, Barachois Hill.


FRAMPTON, MARGARET ELLEN nee NEIL
Passed away at CLHC on December 4, 1998 Margaret Frampton in her 72nd year. She will be sadly missed by her 11 children; daughters, Gladys (Abraham) Leamon, Mabel (Alphonse) LeFrense of Dartmouth, NS., Charlene of Ontario, Helen, Gloria (Raymond) Osmond, Deanna, Marjorie, all of Isle aux Morts; sons, Chesley (Maisie), Angus (Joanne, Jimmy, of Isle aux Morts, Eric (Delphine) of Dartmouth, NS.; 20 grandchildren, 4 great- granchildren and 17 brothers and sisters. Visitation at Holy Spirit Anglican Church, Isle aux Morts, Service was held December 7, 1998 2pm Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Margaree.


PARSONS, NAOMI nee HARDY
Mrs. Naomi Parsons
, 100, a resident of the Northside Guest Home and formerly of Stanley Street, North Sydney, died December 30, 1998 at the guest home. Born in Cul'd Sac, Nfld., she was the daughter of the late Steve and Elenor (Sibley) Hardy. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, the ACW, a life member of the LTBA and LOBA. A devoted and beloved mother, she is survived by 4 sons, Joe (Gloria), Sydney, Cecil (Classie) and Roy, both of North Sydney, Roland (Donna), Lower Sackville; 3 daughters, Gladys Willis, Port aux Basques, Flora Young, Lower Sackville, Vera (Bob) Daken, Oromocto, NB; 2 daughters in law, Minnie and Joan Parsons, Halifax, NS; 1 sister, Susie Savory, Port aux Basques; 35 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John T Parsons; 2 sons, Harry and George; 4 daughters, Mary, Mildred, Flossie and Dorothy; by a brother and several sisters.


GILLAM, ROY PHILLIP
Passed away at CLHC on December 14, 1998, Roy Gillam in his 72nd year. He leaves to mourn his wife Mary; sisters Leona (Reg) Lawrence of Dartmouth, Sheila (Grant) Lundrigan of Hamilton, Georgina Ford of Caledonia; sisters in law, Patrica and Julia Gillam of Port aux Basques, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Cedella Gillam; brothers Wilfred, Emmanuel and Ronald; sisters, Eileen, Joyce, Florence and Jean. His remains rested at Ford's Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on December 16, 1998 2pm at St. James Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Nelson Small, Rev. George Childs and Eric Mullins. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery, Barachois Hill
