BURTON, Lodrick Wilfred
1928 - 2013

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lodrick Burton announce his passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on September 3, 2013 at the age of 84. Lodrick retired from the Maintenance Dept. of the School Board. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter & Effie Burton and 6 siblings. Left with fond and loving memories is his wife Joyce of King's Point; sons - Lawrence (Debbie) of Scarborough, Clarence (Elaine) of Scarborough, Bruce (Sylvia) of Ottawa, Boyce (Alma) of Brampton; daughters - Margaret-Ethel of Florida, Judy (Orivan) of Kirkland Lake, Cindy (Lloyd) of King's Point and Daphne (Scott) of Pickering. Also leaving to mourn his sister Genevieve Rideout and brother, Calvin Burton; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Pastor Fred Grothe conducted the funeral service from Central Funeral Homes in Springdale on September 8, 2013. Interment was at the Living Waters Cemetery in Springdale. Pallbearers were Lawrence, Clarence, Bruce, Boyce and Orivan. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

CLAYSON, Ms. Stella Ivy
Date of Birth: Thursday, February 9th, 1922

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stella Ivy Clayson announce her passing at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor on September 30, 2013 at the age of 91.Stella is predeceased by her parents James and Freida Clayson and brother Percy Taylor. Left to mourn are Great-niece Charlene (Leon) King and Lorilee Pitcher, Beatrice Hynes and family, special friends Ed Noel as well as Roger and Brenda Pike. Reverend Kim Waite conducted the funeral service at the Memorial United Church on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.

DAY, James "Jim" Uriah
Date of Birth: Friday, July 28th, 1922

It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Day announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center in Grand Falls-Windsor on September 25, 2013 at the age of 91. James was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Grand Falls Kinsmen Club and K-40 Club. Jim retired from the Abitibi Price as a Millwright in November 1983. Predeceased by mother Lavenia; father Alfred; sisters Lillian, Matilda, Olga and brother Robert. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Anastasia; sons Jim of St. John's, Gord of Bishop's Falls, Bill (Elizabeth) of Edmonton, A.B., John of Vancouver, B.C., Peter (Lorna) of Victoria, B.C., Dennis of Toronto, Stephen (Basima) of Halifax, Bob (Jenny) of Toronto; daughters Glenda (Bill) of Baie Verta and Annette (Clayton) of Baie Verte. Also leaving to mourn are brother Alfred; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a large circle of extended family and friends. Reverend Randy Lockyer will conduct the funeral at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church on Saturday, September 28, 2013. Interment will be at the Interfaith Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Valsey Viola Dominix (Payne) announce her passing at the Carmelite Palliative Care Unit in Grand Falls-Windsor on September 19, 2013 at the age of 82. Predeceased by her husband Hubert; parents George and Annie May Payne; Stella, Mabel, Rosie, Violet, Calvin and Sonny.Left with fond and loving memories are son George (Sue) of Grand Falls-Windsor and daughter Elaine (Sean) Thorne of Grand Falls-Windsor. Also leaving to mourn are sister Sylvia Allen; grandsons Joseph, Dylan and Brandon; granddaughter Alaine and great-grandson Ethan. Reverend Randy Lockyer will conduct the funeral service at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church on September 22, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. Interment will be at the Anglican Cemetery. Pallbearers are Tom Arnold, Craig McCrae, Carl Thorne, Greg Pumphrey, Lloyd Brake and Clyde Wells. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.

DOWNTON, Hedley
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hedley "Blinkers" Downton announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center in Grand Falls-Windsor on September 1, 2013 at the age of 94. Blinkers was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion; 125 NFLD Squadron RAF and Allied Air Forces association; Union Jack Club - London. He retired from Abitibi. Predeceased by his wife Bernie. Left with fond and loving memories are his sons Hedley Jr. (Jane) of Suffern, N.Y. USA and Kieron (Lorraine) of Grand Falls-Windsor. Also leaving to mourn are brother Roland; sister Janet; grandchildren Ryan (Texas), Keelan (Virginia) and Regan (New York). Father William Hearn conducted the funeral service at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception on September 7, 2013. Pallbearers were Dennis Downton, Bill Bradbury, Prince Ajiboye, Gord Davis, Geof Ireland and Don Pitman. Honorary pallbearer was Joe Downton and Mac Dean. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.

HEDGES, Gertrude
October 11, 1919 - September 3, 2013

It is with sadness that the families of the late Annie Gertrude Hedges announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional health Centre, Grand Falls Windsor, NL, at the age of 93 years. Annie leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories daughters, Maxine (Bill) Reid, Gwen Little (Howard); chosen daughter, Nadine Arnold; son-in-law Walter Davis; sister, Helen (Nell) Flood; 7 grandchildren, Michelle, Jennifer, Jason, Eddie, Scott, Jeff, & Marie; a number of great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Jane Osmond and Kitty Arnold; as well as a large number of relatives and friends. Annie is predeceased by her husband, Edward Marsh Hedges; daughter, Phyllis Davis; brothers, Doug, Herb, & Harry Arnold; sister, Rita Cooper. The public visitation took place Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 10 Bayley Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. The funeral service took place Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 2 pm from the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, with Rev. Randy Lockyer officiating. The interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Union Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. Pallbearers were: Desmond Arnold, Wayne Little, Jason Saunders, Walt Davis, Barry Saunders, & Eddie Davis. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.

LACEY, Blanche V.
March 10, 1907 - September 14, 2013

Passed peacefully away at the Carmelite Seniors Home, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, Ms. Blanche Lacey, at the age of 106 years. Blanche leaves to mourn her nieces, Sybil Dornan, Joan Irish, & Ruth Jingle; nephew, Graham Lacey. She is predeceased by: her parents Richard and Dalphine Lacey; brothers, William Lacey, & Garland Lacey; sisters, Effie Cobb, & Joyce Norman. The public visitation will take place Sunday, September 15, 2013 at 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Grand Falls Windsor, NL. The funeral service will take place Monday, September 16, 2013 at 2 pm from Memorial United Church, Grand Falls Windsor, NL with Rev. Royden Reynolds officiating. The interment will follow at the United Church Cemetery, Union Street, Grand Falls Windsor, NL. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.

MICHAUD, Michel Claude
1962-2013

The death of Michel Claude Michaud of Cumberland Bay, NB occurred Sunday, September 22nd, 2013 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born in Grand Falls, NB he was the son of Gerald Michaud and Rita Belanger. Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Shelley (Lewis) Michaud; his mother, Rita Belanger (Leandre Goulette) of Grand Falls; his father, Gerald Michaud of St. Basile, NB; his daughter, Anik Ouelette (Marco) of Drummond, NB; grandsons, Cody and Tyler; brothers, Yvon Michaud (Patricia) and Marc Michaud (Leopold Berube) both of Grand Falls; his mother-in-law, Lorraine Lewis of Chipman, NB; a niece, Stephanie Michaud and a nephew, Jason Michaud; his step-father, Camille St. Pierre of Grand Falls as well as his babies, Precious, Angel and Timbit. He was predeceased by sons, Rene Castonguay, Kenneth Claude Michaud and by his paternal grandparents, Claude and Rose Michaud. In keeping with Michel's wishes no visitation or funeral service at this time.

MURPHY, Mr. Terrence "Ted" Patrick
Date of Birth: Sunday, February 21st, 1937
Date of Death: Friday, September 13th, 2013

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the late Terrence (Ted) Murphy. Ted passed away at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre on September 13, 2013 at the age of 76. Ted was a very active and a well known volunteer within this community. He was a member of B.P.O. Elks, Knights of Columbus, L. H.O.O.P., past member of the Odd Fellows, Past chair of Sea Cadet- sponsoring body, Founding member of the Friendly 50+ club, Volunteer for Salvation Army Kettle Fund, 25+ years as Chairperson of the Elks & Royal Purple Fund for Children. In later years, Ted was very active with many charities by selling tickets at the Exploits Valley Mall. He thoroughly enjoyed his time meeting new friends and chatting with his old friends during his time at the Mall. He is predeceased by parents John & Irene Murphy; daughter Mary; sisters Genevieve, Bridget, Mary, Madeline, Bernice and Pauline; brothers Thomas, John, Baby Jack and Anthony. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife of 55 years Clara, his sons Barry (Caroline) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Terry (Janice) of Corner Brook, and Ron (Sheila) of Grand Falls-Windsor; daughters Sherry Burt (Dave) of Seal Cove and Bernadette Higgins (Win) of Grand Falls-Windsor. Also left to mourn are grandchildren Amanda, Angela, Jennifer, Janette, Michelle, Joshua Kelsey, Zachary, John, Sean, Jessica and Brandon; brothers William and Dennis; sisters Irene, Catherine, Geraldine and Margaret; many nieces and nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father William Hearn will conduct the funeral service at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on September 17, 2013. Interment will be at the Roman Catholic Cemetery. With a reception to follow at The Elks Club on Beaumont Ave. Pallbearers are members of the Knights of Columbus - John O'Reilly and Bill Alyward, the B.P.O.E Brian Pardy and Jim Foley, and Special friends Frank Keats and Wayne Quibble. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Patey and Bill Maher Sr. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.

MURRAY, Henry
January 20, 1937 - September 7, 2013

It is with sadness that the families of the late Henry Francis Murray announce his passing at his residence on September, 7, 2013 at the age of 76 years. Henry leaves to mourn his sons, Glen (Debbie), Wayne (Sharon), & Chris (Marg); daughters, Maureene, Catherine (Bob) Daniels; 9 grandchildren, Heather, Melissa, Elson, Liam, Keith, Catherine, David, Robert, & Nakita; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Keilynn, & Abigail. Henry is predeceased by his wife, Maureene; parents, Henry & Ellen Murray. The visitation will take place Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. NOSEWORTHY, Jessie
1933 - 2013

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Jessie Noseworthy nee Coombs announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center on September 5, 2013 at the age of 80. Left with fond and loving memories are her husband Donald; daughters Minnie Noseworthy (Terry Browne) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Nellie Brake (Byron) of Meadows and Patricia Braye (Jeff) of St. John's. Also leaving to mourn are grandchildren Meghan (Reid), Bradley (Sasha) and Jessica; sister Rachel Gibbons and brothers George(Virgina) Coombs, brothers-in-law Alex Noseworthy and James Apgar, sisters-in-law Christine McPhee, Jessie Coombs, Murial Coombs and Winnie Pynn and a large number of nieces and nephews, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Jessie was an active member of the Anglican Church and the Women's Social Concern Group. Pallbearers were nephews; George Gibbons, Wally Gibbons, Wayne Noseworthy, Carl Noseworthy, Erastus Noseworthy and friend; Steve Mason. PENNEY, William Douglas
1928 - 2013

It is with great sadness that the family of the late William Penney announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center in Grand Falls-Windsor on September 10, 2013 at the age of 85. William was predeceased by his son, William Franklyn Penney. Left with fond and loving memories is his wife, Lily Penney; son, Kevin (Elaine) of Hatboro, PA; daughters, Paula (Robert Borek) of Southampton, PA, Louise of St. John's and Judy (Larry Clarke) of Springdale. Also leaving to mourn are his brothers: Lloyd and Gerald; his sisters: Izola and Phyllis; grandchildren: Noelle, Adam, Andrea, Allison, Bradley, Cassandra, Stephen, Shelly, Matthew, Penney, Samantha, Marie, William and Darrell; great grandchildren: Niko, Jonathan, Joshua, Aurora, Jackson, Anna, Eric, Clarke, Charlie, Jessica and Lily. Rev. Wilson Gonese will conduct the funeral service from The Grace United Church in Springdale on September 13, 2013. Interment will be at the United Cemetery in Springdale. RIOUX, Elie Clifford "Red"
1927-2012

It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Elie C. "Red" Rioux, 85, formerly of Grand Falls, NB, on Friday, September 21st, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Grand Falls, NB on March 10th, 1927, he was the son of the late Mathieu and Annie (Côté) Rioux and husband of Regina (Godbout) Rioux. Red loved many things in life. He was a fantastic photographer, an avid golfer and he took great pleasure in researching and doing genealogy. His work with NB Power and the Canadian International Development Agency was important to him and it also allowed him to fuel his passion for travel. Red was a WWII Veteran and he liked to spend time with his fellow comrades. But most of all, Red loved his family and helping others. His volunteer work with the hospital as well as his work at the legion in Grand Falls as a Service Officer, was his way of helping those around him. Red will be missed by his loving wife, Regina; his children, Paul (Jackie) of Chilliwack, BC, Claude (Hazel) of Dartmouth, NS, Marcel (Ann Marie) of Fredericton, NB, Michelle Desjardins (Gilles) of Grand Falls, NB, Monique Smith (Bill) of Mactaquac, NB and Jean (Desmond) of Fredericton, NB; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters; 3 siblings as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and 6 of his siblings. There will be no visitation by request. Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Dunstan's Catholic Church on Friday, September 28th, 2012 at 12 noon with Rev. Bill Brennan officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Grand Falls, NB. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Red's honor may be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Betty Florence Smith announce her passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on September 13, 2013 at the age of 75. She was predeceased by her husband Cyril; sons Harris, Calvin, Richard & Roy and daughters, Margaret and an infant. Left with fond and loving memories is her sons: Steadman of Springdale, Edward of Springdale, Fraser (Linda) of Robert's Arm; daughters: Golda (Mac Winsor) of Port Anson, Grace Burton of Port Anson and Neta (Truman Smith) of Swan Hills, AB. Also leaving to mourn four sisters, four brothers, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Pastor Tyrone Ball conducted the funeral service from the Redemption Pentecostal Tabernacle in Port Anson on September 16, 2013. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery in Port Anson. Pallbearers were Wallace Hewlett, Roy Hewlett, Freeman & Joan Reid, Elvis Milley and Jennifer Hynes. Honorary pallbearers were Christian Burton & Priscilla Milley. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.
