Guy Memorial Health Centre, Buchans on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009 Katherine
Rosa Bennett age 84 years.
Predeceased by her parents, Mary and Luke, husband Peter, and son, Philip.
Leaving to mourn with loving memories are her sons, Peter (Ursula) of Mississauga,
ON, Wayne of Buchans, NL; daughters, Ellen (Paul) Dwyer of Elliot Lake, ON,
Isabel of Ottawa, ON, Alice Kirly, who was her care giver and like another
daughter to her; brother, Patrick of Ottawa, ON, sisters, Isabel (Don) Blackmore
of Gander, NL, Faith of Niagara Falls, ON; daughters-in-law, Andrea Taylor,
Sandy Penney; grandchildren, Tyler Bennett, Nancy King, John Dwyer; great-grandchildren,
Dayton Labelle, Stephanie and Elizabeth King. Also a large circle of other
relatives and friends. Funeral Mass took place on Saturday, Sept. 26,2009 from
The Roman Catholic Church, Buchans. Donations can be made in her memory to

BOUZANE, Anne - Passed away September 17, 2009 at the Central Newfoundland
Regional Health Care Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor, Anne Elizabeth
Bouzane.
She was 88 years of age. She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon; sons,
Gordon and Bernard; brother, Douglas Anderson; granddaughter, Regina Penton;
daughter-in-law, Daisy. Left to mourn are her sons, Clayton of Moncton, NB,
James (Florence) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Michael (Doreen) of Mount Pearl; daughter,
Sheila (Gregory Penton) of Bishop's Falls, Genevieve of Boyd's Cove, Sharon
of Toronto, Catherine and Joan of Grand Falls-Windsor; 33 grandchildren, 55
great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren and a large circle of other
relatives and friends. Father William Houlahan conducted Funeral Mass from
St. Joseph's Parish on Tuesday, September 22, 2009. Internment was at St. Joseph's
Roman Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hoskins Funeral
Home, Grand Falls-Windsor. Carrying of ashes was done by James and Michael
Bouzane.
BURT, Hedley Roland - Passed peacefully away Sept.
12, 2009 at the Central
Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, Hedley Burt of Grand
Falls-Windsor. He was 79 years of age. Mr. Burt retired from the CN Newfoundland
Dockyard in 1994. Predeceased by parents, Adolphus and Lucy Burt; son, Clyde;
sisters, Florie, Jessie and Violet; and brother Harvey. Left to mourn are wife,
Eleanor; sons, Winslow (Nellie), Irvin (Rosalind), Keith (Barbara); daughters,
Marjorie (Jerry), Jackie (Gerald), Beulah (Jerome); stepdaughter, Bonnie (Lawrence).

BUTT, Rowena Dinah - (Oct. 23, 1922 - Sept. 7, 2009) - It is with sadness
that the families of the late Rowena Dinah Butt announce her passing at The
Carmelite Senior Citizens' Home, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, Sept. 7,
2009, aged
86 years. Predeceased by her husband, Heber; parents, Alexander and Maria Ralph;
five sisters and four brothers. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories

DAY, Cyril Maxwell (Apr. 20, 1920 - Sept. 15, 2009) - It is with great sadness
that the family of the late Cyril Maxwell Day announce his passing at the Interfaith
Home for Senior Citizens, Corner Brook, NL on Sept. 15, 2009 at the age of
89 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, wife, Mildred; step-children,
Carol (Arthur), Helen (Terry), Robert and Arch; grandchildren, Christine, Stephanie,
Shawn, Geoffrey, Timothy and Justin; great-grandchildren, David and Jack, as

HANCOCK, Doreen - Passed away Sept. 15, 2009 at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Centre
in Botwood, Doreen Hancock. She was 62 years of age. Mrs. Hancock was a member
of the Seventh Day Adventist. Predeceased by her father and mother, Clarence
and Pearl Clarke. Left to mourn is husband, Shawn; daughter, Kayla of Fort
McMurray, Alberta. Also leaving to mourn sisters, Doris Budgell, Margaret Earle
and brother, Gilbert Clarke and a large circle of relatives and friends. Pastor
Jason Williams conducted the funeral services at Seventh Day Adventist, Botwood
on Sept. 18, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Interment followed at Seventh Day Adventist
Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were by Hoskins Funeral Home, Botwood. Pallbearers
were Robert Singh, Robert Mills, Ray Moores, Steve Pelley, Shawn Budgell and
Chris Barker.
HUMPHRIES, Howard George (April 29, 1936 - Sept. 22, 2009) - Passed peacefully
away on Sept. 22, 2009 at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Center, Botwood, Howard
George Humphries of Botwood. He was 73 years of age. He retired from the Dept. of
Transportation. Predeceased by his parents, Fred and Hilda Humphries; sister,
Ruby Langdon. Giving thanks to Almighty God for his wonderful life are his
loving wife and best friend, Marie; his sons, Wendell, Northern Arm; Shawn
(Tina), Brampton, ON; and his only daughter, Deana Gosse (Jim), Northern Arm
and three precious granddaughters, Miranda Gosse, Sheranda and Cierra Humphries.
Also left to mourn are his sister, Gladys Langdon; and his brothers, Thomas
(Ella), and Eric (Marion); and a large circle of family and friends. Rev. Marilyn
Reese conducted funeral services at Faith United Church, Northern Arm, Thursday,
Sept. 24, 2009. Interment at the United Church Cemetery, Northern Arm. Funeral

brother and co-worker Eric Humphries; co-workers, Winfield Saunders, William

LEE, Alfred John - Passed away September 14, 2009 at the Central Newfoundland
Regional Health Care Center in Grand Falls-Windsor, Alfred John Lee of Botwood.
He was 70 years of age. Mr. Lee retired from construction work in 2004. He
was predeceased by his father, Otto and sister, Audrey. Left to mourn his passing
are his wife, Judy; son, Tim of Fort McMurray, AB; daughters, Paula (Paul Compagnon)
of Deer Lake, Carolyn of Botwood; mother, Cherrie Lee; sisters, June (Sterling
Jenkins), Madonna (Mike Osbourne), Sandra (John Phillipides); brothers, David
(Dulcie), Reginald (Gertie); two grandchildren, Carolyn and Jonathan Compagnon
and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Fraser Roberts conducted
Funeral Services from the Jubilee Pentecostal Temple on Thursday, September
17, 2009. Interment was at the Pentecostal Church Cemetery. Funeral arrangements

MCDONALD, John "Jack" Martin - It is with great sadness that the family of
the late John Martin McDonald, age 72, of Badger announce his passing at the
Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor on Friday,
September 4, 2009. Predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Ellen "Nellie" McDonald.
Left with fond and loving memories are his siblings, Frances Newman (Kevin),
Ashcroft, BC, Barbara Jacobs (Gordon), Badger, NL, Gerald McDonald (Marie),
Badger, NL; four nieces and five nephews; his dear and special friends at the
H. Pardy Manor, Baie Verte; and a large circle of other relatives and special
friends. Father Eugene Morris conducted the funeral mass at the Sacred Heart
Roman Catholic Church, Badger on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. Pallbearers were
Gordon Jacobs Jr., Frank O'Connor, Robert McDonald, John McDonald, Wilfred
Pittman and Harold Noseworthy and the crossbearer was Cody Pittman. Funeral
arrangements were entrusted to Wimbleton's Funeral Home, Baie Verte.
PITTMAN, Sheila Marion-1953-2009 - Passed peacefully away Sept.
12, 2009 at
Kamloops Hospice House, BC, with her family by her side, Sheila Pittman, after
a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Leaving to mourn son, Darren (Samantha)
Pittman; daughters, Tammy (Ted) Dodyk and Dana Pittman (Dustin Morissette);
six beloved grandchildren, Talis, Dawson, Marshall, Lincoln, Britannia and
Curtis; also her mother, Marie Humber; brothers Fred Humber (Yvonne) and William
(Mary) Humber; sisters Dorcas (George) Betton and Shirley (Ralph) Gillingham.
Predeceased by father Frederick Humber. Sheila was born and raised in Botwood.
She then ventured to BC in 1973. In addition to being a devoted mother and
grandmother, she was an astute business woman. She was up for any experience
or challenge that came her way. She was diagnosed with cancer seven years ago
while attending a spa college in Kelowna but never gave up her dream and opened
up a day spa. Everyone admired her beautiful smile and infectious laugh and
her genuine actions. Her family and friends will forever be grateful for the
professional care she received during her treatment. We wish to thank all the
staff from the B.C. Cancer Agency and Royal Inland Hospital. We deeply appreciate
the Marjorie Snowden Memorial Hospice Home for their comfort, compassion and
serenity provided to Sheila and her family during the final stages of her life.
Memorial Service was held at the Logan Lake Community Church, Sept. 15, 2009.
Interment followed at Logan Lake Cemetery.
REES, Gordon William (March 3, 1921 - Sept. 2,
2009) - It is with great sadness
that the family of the late Gordon Rees announce his passing
on Sept.
2, 2009 at his residence in Botwood, NL. He is predeceased by his
parents, Maxwell and Annie Rees; two brothers, Eric and Albert; two sons, Gordon
James (1972) and Gerald William (2002). Gordon was born in Wabana, Bell Island
in 1921, then at age 5 relocated to Botwood. He lived his life employed as
a water nipper and later as a truck driver. During the War he served with the
NL Forestry Unit and The British Home Guard for six years. During his time
in Scotland he met and married Ina Murray of Golspie Sutherland, Scotland.
Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Ina; children, Maxwell
(Shirley), Elizabeth (Terry), Brian (Barbara), Allan (Sharon), Eric, Anne (Bruce);
one sister, Margaret (Ford); sister-in-laws, Gertie Rees, and Myrtle Rees;
ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a large circle of nieces,
nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services took place on Saturday, September
5, 2009 at 2 p.m. from The Salvation Army Botwood Citadel, with Major Calvin
and Beryl Collins officiating. Interment at The Salvation Army Cemetery. Donations
can be made in his memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation. Pallbearers were
sons, Max, Allan, Brian, Eric; great-grandson, Jacob, and special friend, Roy.

RIDEOUT, Bertha - Passed peacefully away on Sept.
26, 2009 at the Central
Newfoundland Regional Health Care Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, Bertha
Rideout of Bishop's Falls. She was 76 years of age. She was predeceased by her parents,
Absalom and Katie Sheppard; brothers, William, Nathaniel; sisters, Florence
Smith (Drover), Jean Lynch; brothers-in-law, Arch (Lena) Rideout, Walt (Millie)
Rideout, Samuel (June) Rideout and Harvey Burge. Left to mourn her loss are
husband, Pearce Albert Rideout; sons, Freeman (Emeline), also (Denise), Perry
(Beverley) and Paul. Also leaving to mourn are sisters, Phyllis Lynch, Joyce
Clarke, Lola Simmons (Bill), Emma Whalen (Mike); brother, Absalom (Martha)
Sheppard; sisters-in-law, Winnie Burge, Lucy (Bill) Adams and a large circle

services at The Salvation Army Citadel, Bishop's Falls on Tuesday, Sept. 29,

ROBERTS, Scott Alexander - Scott Alexander Roberts was born on November 28,
1943 in Rattling Brook Depot (Bishop's Falls). He passed away on September
18, 2009 at St. Clares Mercy Hospital in St. John's while surrounded by his
daughter, Tracy Cushing and family. Scott was the son of Clifford (Skipper)
and Madeline (nee, Osbourne) Roberts. He was the eldest of their six children.
Scott has a daughter, Tracy with Vina (nee, Curlew) Seaman. Scott worked for
the Federal Government in Happy Valley-Goose Bay for most of his career before
retiring to St. John's in the 1990s. In Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Scott was a
dedicated volunteer with the United Church and Kinsmen. Scott's hobbies included
fishing with his friends at his cabin in Muskrat Lake and moose hunting with
his brothers and nephews. Scott was an avid reader, especially of the newspaper.
Making people laugh with his great sense of humour is how he will be remembered
by his family and friends. Left to mourn are his mother, Madeline of Bishop's
