Passed suddenly away on May 20, 2011 at the Central NL Regional Health Care Centre, Sterling Chesley Austin of Grand Falls-Windsor. He was 76 years of age. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Elizabeth Austin; brothers, Freeman and Ernest. He leaves to mourn his wife, Marion; son, Albert (Marie); daughters, Louise (Bill Snow), Juanita (James Reid) and Denise (Steve Murray). He also leaves to mourn his grandchildren, Barry, Melissa, Daniel, Craig, Timothy, Ashley, Amber and Tyler; great-grandchild, Migual and Mya-Marie; sister, Leah; brother, Alfred and many other family members and friends. Passed Away On: 06/05/2011
Passed away after a lengthly illness on May 6, 2011 at Lakeside Homes in Gander; Cora Bartlett. She was 80 years of age. She was predeceased by parents; Leslie & Janie, husband; Augustus, brothers; Lewis & Edgar, and grandchild; Danielle. Left to mourn are sons; Larry (Ronny), John (Charmaine), Perry (Paula), daughters; Carol-Ann (Pat Costigan) & Kim (Mike Longaphie). BOONE, Frederick
Passed Away On: 13/05/2011
Passed away suddenly on May 13, 2011 at the Central NL Regional Health Centre, Frederick John Boone. He was 75 years of age. Mr. Boone retried from the Canadian National Railway in 1993 and was a member of the AOTS, CNR Retired Pensioners Association, and the Kids Eat Smart Club. He was predeceased by parents, Aubrey & Jessie Boone; brother, Lorne Boone; sister, Beryl & husband, Herb Bowering; broth-ers-in-law, Gordon McGurke, Cyril Baird, Joseph Troy; in-laws; Leo & Bridie Troy. Left to mourn are wife of 40 years Mary; son, Frederick(Kyla); and their precious & only grandson, Troy. Passed peacefully away on May 26, 2011 at her residence, Dorothy Elizabeth Boyd, Bishop's Falls. She was 74 years of age. She was predeceased by her husband, Austin; son, Wilburn; brothers, Harry, Lester and Hubert; and mother and father. She leaves to mourn her sons, Terry (Pam), Collin, Mark (Joanne); daughters, Sandra (Bruce), Genevieve (Steve), Tanya (Shawn); sisters, Edith (John) Thompson, Alma (Ralph) Bailey, Lorraine (Alan) Kenny; brothers, Pleaman (Pauline), Norman (Thersa), Melvin (Linda); 10 grand-children and 11 great grand-children and a large circle of family and friends. Rev. Elizabeth Stewart conducted funeral serv-ices at the United Church, Bishop's Falls on Sun., May 29, 2011 with interment at the United Church cemetery. CHAULK, Georgina
Passed Away On: 05/05/2011

Passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness on May 5, 2011, at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Centre, Botwood, Georgina Edith May Chaulk of Grand Falls-Windsor. She was 86 years of age. Mrs. Chaulk was a member of the Windsor Pentecostal Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Charles Chaulk; parents, Samuel and Elizabeth Milley; brothers, Maxwell, Reginald, Frank, Edgar and Lionil; sister, Lucy. She leaves to mourn her sons, Reginald (Betty), Gerald (Judy), Dennis; daughters, Maxina and Debra (Gary Freake); her five grandchildren, Rodney, Paul, Jason Tzena and Courtney; 10 great-grandchildren. Also leaving to mourn her sisters, Winnie Stewart and Sadie Quinlan; brothers, Jack Milley and Philip Milley (Jeanette) and a circle of other relatives and friends. COLE, Raymond
Passed Away On: 04/05/2011
Raymond Boyde Cole, CD July 14, 1924 - May 4, 2011
. Born in Elliston, NL, on July 14, 1924, Ray grew up in Grand Falls. He was educated at Grand Falls Academy from where he graduated with honours in 1941. During WW II, he served with the Royal Air Force in Europe and completed several tours of bombing operations in his much-loved Lancaster. He returned to Newfoundland in 1946, following a medical discharge. Raymond studied accounting and worked in managerial positions in various fields, including Insurance, Road & Building Construction, and Forest Harvesting. In 1974, he entered full-time ministry with the United Church of Canada, serving a number of Pastoral charges through-out Newfoundland. During his ministry, Rev. Ray had the honour of performing weddings for two of his grandchildren and christened three great-grandchildren. He retired from the ministry in 1996, only to return to work at least six or seven times, finally retiring in 2011. Shortly after Confederation, Ray was commissioned in the rank of Pilot Officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He worked with all three elements of the Cadet organization until 1964, when upon reaching the compulsory retirement age, he retired with the rank of Captain. On May 11, 2002 he was appointed Honourary Colonel of #9 Wing, Canadian Forces Base Gander, and remained in this position until September 11, 2006, when he retired and reverted to his service rank of Captain. In December, 2008, Ray was awarded the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation in recognition of his ongoing contribution to the care and well-being of veterans. A lover of classical music, Ray will always be remembered for his musical abilities, his fingers able to dance across the keyboard without a note of music in front of him. His sense of humor, love for others, and commitment to whatever task he undertook are the cornerstones of his personality and he has touched the lives of many people throughout his life. Predeceased by his parents Nehemiah and Betty, siblings, Horatio, Isaiah, Dora, and Emmeline, and first wife Gwen, Ray is lovingly remembered by his wife Shirley, daughter Georgie (Norm), step-daughter Jada (Grant), grandchildren; Bob, Karen (Roger), Matthew (Karen), and Sarah (Steve), and great-grandchildren; Harley, Thomas, Abby, Samantha, and Rayna. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Donna Hann with Rev. Royden Reynolds co-officiating, at Memorial United Church in Grand Falls-Windsor on May 7, 2011, 3pm. COOPER, Hayward
Passed Away On: 26/05/2011
It is with regret that the family of the late Hayward W. Cooper announce his passing at the Central NL Hospital, Grand Falls-Windsor on Thursday, May 26, 2011. Hayward, age 87 years, leaves to mourn his wife of 61 years, Ruby (Young); sons, Dennis (Brenda Wall); Sean (Linda Wyatt); brothers Mark (Louise), Major James (Evelyn - deceased), sisters Gladys (Robert), and Marjorie (Gary); grandchildren Jeff, Wendy, Denise, Matthew & Christopher; great-grandchildren Kassidy, Danielle, Paige, Jessica, Rebecca, Sarah, Nathan, Max, Colin Ryan, Alex and Cooper. Predeceased by his sister Dorothy & brother George. He will be missed by a large circle of family and friends from Twillingate and Grand Falls-Windsor. Hayward was a Life Member of the GF Golf Club, a member of the Independent Order of Odd-fellows, a member of the Black in the Loyal Orange Lodge, and a member of the Memorial United Church. Passed away May 30, 2011 after a lengthy illness at the Central NL Regional Health Care Centre, Joan Marie Cooper (Wells), Grand Falls-Windsor. She was 73 years of age. She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur & Margaret (Groves) Wells; husband, Harvey; daughter, Judy; sister, Ruby (Bill) McDonald; brother, Roy Wells. Left to mourn are sons, Wayne (Judy), Gary (Karen), Clyde (Charlotte), Allan (Debra), Joseph (Nancy), Shawn (Wendy), Dennis; daughters, Peggy (Michael Wade), Dianne (Kerry Coutts); 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Also leaving to mourn brother, Allan (Jean) Wells and a circle of other relatives and friends. DAY, Lucy
Passed Away On: 20/05/2011
Peacefully entered into rest May 20, 2011, following a short illness, Lucy Elliott Day. Lucy turned ninety years old a few weeks ago on March 16th and celebrated with family and friends at Masonic Park Nursing Home, where she resided. She is predeceased by her son Wilfred, 1942, and husband Maxwell, 1999. Leaving to remember Lucy with fond and loving memories of her long life are daughter Judy Ricketts, sons; Scott (Sheila), Harvey(Florence), and Bruce(Dianna). Grandchildren; Carol (Bill), Bridget (Douglas), Brian(Ginette), Ashley, Dennis (Tracey), Barry, Brian, Trina, Shannon (Kimberley), and Sheldon (Alix). Great-grand-children; Katie, Andrew, Brianna, Joshua, Tiffany, Hilary, Clara, and Michael. Three sisters; Mabel Wagg, Gladys Retieff (Leonard), Inez Harris (Norman), and manynieces and nephews. She will be remembered by friends everywhere, especially in Port Albert and Badger. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Barrett?s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Ave. on Saturday, May 21st from 6:00-9:00 pm, with a celebration of her life at 8:00 pm in the visitation room. All are invited to join with the family to pay tribute to this wonderful woman's long life. Interment will be beside ber husband Max and her son Wilfred at Port Albert.

It is with sadness that the family of the Late Violet Irene Gill announces her passing on May 2, 2011 at The Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Centre, Botwood, NL aged 97 years. Violet is predeceased by her husband, Willie; sisters, Mary; brother, Esau. Passed away on May 19, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer at the Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket, Ont., Roger Edward Hillier of Newmarket, Ont. He was 63 years of age. Roger was born and raised in Grand Falls, NL. He was predeceased by infant twin sister, Rosalind; father, Silas. KING, Harry
Passed Away On: 19/05/2011
It is with great sadness that the family of the late William Harry King announce his sudden passing at the Health Science Centre in St. John's, NL on May 11, 2011. He was 82 years old. Harry retired from Abitibi in Grand Falls-Windsor in December, 1987. He was predeceased by his father, Samuel; Mother, Dora; and sister Daisy. Left with fond and loving memories is his loving wife, Margaret; sons Gary(Barbara) of Corner Brook, Terry (Mary) of Portugal Cove-St. Philips; and daughter, Joanne of Grand Falls-Windsor; grandchildren, Terri-Lynn (Trent), Jason, Penny (Marc), Mark and Krista (Ian); great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Sara, Tyler, Travis, Gavin and Mackenzie. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Randy Lambert announce his sudden passing at his residence in High Level, AB on May 18, 2011. Randy was 48 years old. He was predeceased by his grandparents Leah & Leonard Thorne, and Phyllis & Elmo Lambert. Scotty passed away peacefully at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook on Sunday, May 22, 2011. Wife of the late John Manuel, Scotty is survived by her two children: Cindy (Ted) and Denis (Ivette) and her grand-children: David, Megan, Clare, Sofia and Alec. She was predeceased by her parents Victor and Mary Ellen Scott of Grand Falls, her brother Victor and her sister Marie (Dawe). Visitation was held at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue on Friday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, May 28 at 10:30 a.m. from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mount Bernard Avenue with Father Ambrose Hynes officiating. Passed peacefully away at the Holyles Escasoni Complex on May 2, 2011, Gwen Miles aged 90 years. Predeceased by her husband Ronald; sisters: Ada Fontain (Jim), Mary Dawe (Bill), Rene Havaaldsen (Nels), Marina Dawe (Mackie), Edith Ryan (Bill); brothers: Raymond Keefe (Dorothy), Irving Keefe (Phyllis), Calvin Keefe (Edna). It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bob Moore. Bob is originally from the town of Windsor, and is the son of the Late George and Winnifred Moore. He was the beloved husband and soul-mate of Ute, father of Philipp and Daniel, brother of Fred, Arthur, Dorothy, and Grace, brother-in-law of Marie and Edina, father-in-law of Mirjam, Opa Bob to Rahel, and cherished uncle, cousin, and close friend to many. Peacefully, at Avalon Retirement Centre, Orangeville, ON., on Sunday, May 8, 2011, Iris Noseworthy (nee Reid), formerly of Botwood, Newfoundland, in her 77th year, beloved wife of the late Norman Noseworthy (2009). Loving mother of Bruce and Venecia, Norman and Liz, Debra Toth and Mark, Bill and Brenda, Richard and Susan. Cherished grandmother of 11 grand-children and 4 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Kenneth Reid, Doris Faulkner, Peggy Carpenter and Edna Butler. Predeceased by her parents Gertrude (nee Barnes) and William Reid and brothers Donald, Edgar, Bruce and Cyril Reid. The family received their friends at the Egan Funeral Home Baxter & Giles Chapel, 273 Broadway, Orangeville, Ontario (519-941-2630) on Tuesday afternoon 2 - 4 and evening 7 - 9 o'clock. Funeral service was held in the chapel on Wed., May 11 at 1:30 o'clock. Followed by cremation. PARSONS, Fred
Passed Away On: 06/05/2011
Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Central Newfoundland Health Centre on May 6, 2011, Frederick Donald Parsons aged 77. Fred retired from Abitibi Consolidated in 1988. Predeceased by his wife and love of his life, Ruth; parents, George and Julia Parsons; brother, William; sisters, Florence, Maude, and Olive. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are sons, Fred (Gail), Gary (Barbara) and daughter, Linda (Melvin) Burry all of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL; grandchildren, Todd (Sue), David (Melissa), Natasha, Tyler (Kayla), Victoria, and Devin; sister, Sadie (William) Caravan; as well as a large circle of close family and friends. Fred Parsons was born on June 8, 1933, in Grand Falls-Windsor to pioneer citizens, George and Julia Parsons who came to the Town from Green's Pond to seek employment at the newly built paper mill. The Funeral service took place Monday May 9, 2011 at 11 am from the Park Street Salvation Army Citadel with Majors Owen and Sharon Rowsell officiating. Pallbearers were family members, Fred, Gary, Melvin, Todd, David, Tyler and Devin. Honorary Pallbearers were members of his morning Coffee group at Tim Horton's. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

PRICE, Florence
Passed Away On: 28/05/2011
Passed peacefully away on May 28, 2011 at the Carmelite House, Florence Edna Price of Grand Falls-Windsor. She was 78 years of age. She was predeceased by her parents, Laura and Elijah Froude; husband, James Price; sister Gloria Tremblett. Left to mourn are sons, Richard (Gladys), Robert Froude (Yvonne); daughter, Karen (Michael). Also leaving to mourn are her five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Audrey, Sandra, Eileen, Christine, Deloris; brothers, Calvin, Roy, Terry, Alonzo, Russell, Lorne, Arthur and Glen and a circle of other relatives and friends. Pastors Gary Andrews and Elaine Rideout will conduct funeral services at Windsor Pentecostal Church, on Thursday, June 2, 2011 with interment at the Windsor Pentecostal Cemetery. Funeral arrange-ments were entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home, Grand Falls-Windsor. Pallbearers were Stephen Price (grandson), Ryan Price (grandson), Richard Price (son), Robert Froude (son), Roy Froude (brother) and Glen Froude (brother). Honorary pallbearers were brothers, Calvin, Terry Alonzo, Russell, Lorne, Arthur Froude.

SHEPPARD, Dorothy
Passed Away On: 05/05/2011

Passed peacefully away on Thursday May 5, 2011 at the Sagewood Continuing Care Community, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, Dorothy Blanche Sheppard, aged 91. She was surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy, (nee Cooper) was a former resident of Twillingate, Carmanville, St John's, Grand Falls-Winsor, NL and Lower Sackville, NS. She was born in Twillingate, NL on February 4, 1920, the eldest of seven children. She is predeceased by her loving and devoted husband, Bramwell; parents, Stewart and Gertrude Cooper of Twillingate, NL; brother, George, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL and her infant granddaughter, Emma. She leaves to mourn her six children, Rosalind (Walter) Dort of Lower Sackville, NS, Barbara (late Edgar) Hynes, of Edmonton, AB, Wayne (Jo-Marie)of Halifax, NS, Kevin (Carol) of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, Louise Baker, (Harold) of East Jeddore, NS, Annette Sheppard of Halifax, NS; special family friend, Bernice Sheppard of Lower Sackville NS; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grand children; brothers, Hayward (Ruby) of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, Mark (Louise) Toronto, ON, James (late Evelyn) Botwood, NL; sisters, Gladys (Robert) of Kent, Wa. Marjorie (Gary) Garden Grove, Ca; as well a large circle of extended family and friends all across Canada and the USA. She was resting at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 10 Bayley St. Grand Falls-Windsor. Family received visitors Saturday, May 7, 2011, at 7-9 pm, and Sunday May 8, 2011 at 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service took place Monday, May 9, 2011 at 2:30 pm from the Salvation Army Citadel Park Street. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Union Street, Grand Falls-Windsor. Flowers were gratefully accepted or donations were made to a charity of one's choice. Pallbearers are Cindi Sheppard, Anna Baker, Kevin Sheppard, Sean Cooper, Doug Sanger,and Weldon King. SHEPPARD, Thomas
Passed Away On: 28/05/2011
Passed peacefully away on May 28, 2011 at the Carmelite House, Thomas Sheppard of Bishop's Falls. He was 84 years of age. Mr. Sheppard retired from CN in 1982 and was a member of the Salvation Army Men's Service Club & the Salvation Army band. Predeceased by parents, Frank & Melinda; and sisters, Grace & Susan. Left to mourn are wife, Jean; son, Wayne (Stella); and daughter, Diane (Gurmit Minhas). Also leaving to mourn sister, Violet (Gilbert -deceased); and brothers, Harvey (Lillian), Frank (Marjorie - deceased), John (Florence); grand-son, Ryan (Stephanie); sister-in-law, Betty(Rev Clayton Austin) and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Majors Wycliffe & Shirley Reid, assisted by Rev. Clayton Austin, conduct-ed funeral services at The Salvation Army Citadel, Bishop's Falls on May 31, 2011. Inter-ment followed from the Salvation Army Ceme-tery, Bishop's Falls. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home, Bishop's Falls. Pallbearers were Wayne Sheppard (son), Ryan Sheppard (grandson), Gurmit Minhas (son-in-law), Gary Sheppard (nephew), John Sheppard (brother), and David Sheppard (nephew). Honorary Pallbearers were Andy & Sylvia Thorne, Pearl & Alex Pelley, and Shirley & Retis Hancock. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bishop's Falls Salvation Army Band Fund or the Carmelite House.
