ANDREWS, Ella Doreen Louise (nee Osmond) - Passed peacefully away after a valiant and determined fight with cancer at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, on Monday, May 18, 2009, Doreen Andrews (nee Osmond) of Bishop's Falls, in her 69th year. Predeceased by her parents, Nathaniel and Daisy Osmond; sister-in-law, Nellie Osmond (2007); and granddaughter, Megan (2007). Left with broken hearts but wonderful memories are her beloved and caring husband of nearly 47 years, Gordon; her three adored sons, Todd (Shelley) of Paradise, Nfld., Scott (Tamara) of Richmond, Ont. and Chad (Lisa) of Perth, Ont.; and her six precious granddaughters, whom she cherished more than words can describe, Malorie, Taylor, Layla, Brooke, Felicity and Rayne. Also left to mourn are her sisters, Marjorie Budgell (Hubert), Millertown, Nfld., Marie King (William), Wasaga Beach, Ont., Elizabeth Ball (Don), Deer Lake, Nfld., Dorothy Reid (Don), Bishop's Falls and brothers, Monte, Pasadena, Nfld. and Ford (Salome), Pasadena, Nfld., as well as a large extended family and many close friends. Special thanks and praise for the care and compassion shown to Doreen and family by Drs. Burridge, Ganguly, McCarthy, Savoury, Smith and their teams. The family also extends a very special thank you to the wonderful and caring nurses of 4 East at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital and the staff at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre. BRAKE, Catherine Margaret - Passed away after a lengthly illness on May 13, 2009 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, Catherine Margaret Brake. She was 67 years of age. Predeceased by her parents, Edward and Catherine Hennessey; sister, Maureen Murray. Left to mourn are husband, Lloyd Borden; sons, Scott Brake (Catherine), Harold Brake (Patsy), Dean Brake (Ruby), Lloyd Brake (Tina); daughters, Darlene Evans (Elmer), Sue Dominix (George). Also leaving to mourn are brothers, Ted, Jim and Allen Hennessey; 11 grandchildren, Patrick, Scott, Tyrone, Samatha, Evan, Shannon, Alex, Trevor, Travis, Brandon, Joey; six great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Aleksia, Ashleigh, Cameron, Taylor and Ethan and a large circle of other relatives and friends. BROWNE, Stephen (Steve) - Passed away May 9, 2009 at age 52. Predeceased by father, Michael Browne; father-in-law, Bill Tobin; mother-in-law, Rone Tobin, and brother-in-law, Bill Tobin. Left to mourn wife, Lena, and children, Billy (Jane), Michelle, Stephanie, Tommy, and Jamie. Also leaving to mourn are mother, Paula; siblings, Edward, Dennis (Susan), Paula Nemec (Michael), Mary Lou Martin (Ed), and Michael (Paulette); grandchildren, Olivia and Christopher; siblings-in-law, Madeline Picone (Lui), Pete (Mary), Jim (Jean), and Tish (Brock). BURKE, Edward - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's, NL, on Monday, May 11, 2009, Edward N. Burke, aged 79 years. Predeceased by his parents, John and Gertrude (Wright); brothers, William, John, Cyril and Thomas; sister, Frances; brother-in-law, Michael Kelly; and sister-in-law, Phyllis. Leaving to mourn brothers, Gerald (Ann), Robert (Patricia), Cecil (Josephine) and Michael (Joyce); sisters-in-law, Mary and Margaret. Cremation has taken place by request. CURLEW, Victor James (March 21, 1931-May 23, 2009) - Passed away May 23, 2009 after a lengthy illness at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Care Center, Victor James Curlew of Peterview. He was 78 years of age. Predeceased by parents, Fredrick and Blanche Curlew; wife, Ethel; sisters, Effie, Lulu; and brother, Bill. Left to mourn his passing are sons, Barry (Tena), Ricky, Tony (Shelly), Fred, Darren (Angela), Jason and Garland; daughters, Geraldine (Bruce), Denise (Jeff), Bernice (Dean), Tracey (Jeff H.), Christine, and Jean (Terry). Also leaving to mourn sister, Rita (Walt) Marsh; brothers, Herman (Hettie), Sam (Kathleen); 34 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Major William Kean conducted funeral services at the Salvation Army Citadel, Peterview on Tuesday, May 26. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery. DAWE, Elizabeth Zane (March 22, 1919-May 25, 2009) - Passed peacefully away on May 25, 2009 at her residence, Elizabeth Jane Dawe of Grand Falls-Windsor. She was 90 years of age. Predeceased by husband, Harold; daughter, Betty Fancey; sisters, Irene Peddle, Dorris Peddle and parents Jane and Albert Hefford. Left to mourn her passing are daughters, Vida Fudge (Gordon), Barbara Mullett, Shirley Dawe, Carol Clarke (Wally), Linda Peckford (Harold) and Judy Cole (David). Also leaving to mourn one sister, Sarah Bitzer; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Major Shirley Dawe along with Captains Morris and Wanda Vincent conducted funeral services at the Salvation Army Citadel, Circular Road, Grand Falls-Windsor on Wednesday, May 27. Interment was held at the Interfaith Cemetery, Grand Falls-Windsor. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Homes, Grand Falls-Windsor. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Barry Oake, Bruce Oake, Wayne Fudge, Darren Fancey, Craig Cole and a very special friend, Normie Fudge.

DAY, Robert - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Robert Day announce his passing at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor on May 16, 2009 at the age of 84. Robert retired from Abitibi Price in 1984. Predeceased by parents, Alfred and Lavenia Day and by sisters, Lily and Matilda. Left with fond memories are many nieces and nephews. Also leaving to mourn sister, Olga Kendell, Sydney, N.S.; brothers, Alfred Jr., St. John's and Jim (Anne), Grand Falls-Windsor. Reverend Randy Lockyer conducted the funeral services at the Holy Trinity Chapel on May 18, 2009. Interment was at the Interfaith Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.

DEAN, Stella - Passed peacefully away at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Centre, Botwood after a brief illness on Thursday, May 21, 2009, Stella Sarah Ann Dean, age 85. She was born in Fogo to Allan and Elizabeth (Tizzard) Hart on August 03, 1923. In 1937 she moved to Botwood to stay with Irene Churchill who needed someone to work in her store and bakery. She married Frank Dean on January 17, 1945. They enjoyed 59 very active years together before he passed away in 2004 and life changed for her. She missed their daily walks, car trips around the area, going to their cabin in Bobby's Cove and their yearly trips to Florida. Always an independent person, she still continued to go to Florida every winter and attend the Fogo Island Brimstone Head Festival every August. She was an excellent cook and baker and took great pride in her flower and vegetable gardens while they lived on Church Road, starting all her flowers from seeds. She was very interested in the news from home and abroad and watching election results. She loved a good game of cards and music. She especially enjoyed cod jigging at their cabin and motorcycle rides with David and Brenda. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She rarely missed a hockey game or figure skating when the grandchildren were young and attended all school concerts and graduations. She continued this tradition with her great-grandchildren. Her health deteriorated after her return from Florida in April 2008 and she moved to the Killick Retirement Home and then to Unit B of the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Centre. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, Frank; brother, Raymond Hart and sister, Clara Accorn. She leaves to mourn son, David (Brenda), Grand Falls-Windsor; daughter, Judy (Paul) Gill, Botwood, three grandchildren, Trevor (Tracey) Gill, Corey Gill both of Botwood and Jaime (Sam) Keskic, Calgary; five great-grandchildren, Taylor and Jacob Gill; Jared, Geena and Isabella Keskic; brother, Austin (Rosemary) Hart and sister, Wilhelmina (Benson) Hewitt of Fogo, brother-in-law, Ewart (Doris) Dean; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Dean; Anne Russell and Kit Kapus; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Rev. David Coffin will conduct the funeral service from St. James Anglican Church, Botwood on Monday, May 25 at 2 p.m. No flowers by request but donations in her memory to Unit B of the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Centre would be gratefully accepted.

EDWARDS, Franklyn (Frank) Augustus - Passed peacefully at the Cornwall Community Hospital on Friday, May 8, 2009, Franklyn (Frank) Edwards. He was 70. Loving father of Susan Edwards, Mark Edwards (Susan), Karen Nichol (Scott) and Ruth Ellen MacGillis (Mark). Sadly missed by nine grandchildren, Bennett, Andrew, Erin, Michael, Brett, Samantha, Jana, Mary Anne and John. Son of the late Patrick and Mary (Murphy) Edwards. Also survived by seven brothers, Jerry, Rex (Patricia), Reg (Mary), Adrian "Ed" (Josephine), John (Mary), his twin, Al (Maxine), Wally (Gladys) and two sisters, Agnes (late John) and Mary (late Geoff). Predeceased by three brothers, George, Charlie and Gus. Also survived by his former wife, Anne St. Croix. Services were held from the M. John Sullivan Funeral Home, Cornwall, Ontario to St. Peter's Catholic Church for Funeral Mass on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 11 a.m. followed by cremation. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations to Hospice Cornwall-Carefor would be appreciated by the family. A memorial service will be held in Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland in August 2009.

HOWSE, Mahala Mabel (1908 - 2009) - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mahala Mabel Howse announce her passing at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor on May 18, 2009 at the age of 101. Mahala Howse was a member of Lodge Northcliffe Masonic Ladies Auxiliary. Predeceased by her husband, Maxwell. Left with fond and loving memories is son, Gordon (Margaret) of Grand Falls-Windsor. Also leaving to mourn are granddaughters, Christine Noftall (Howse), Michele Marsden (Howse), great-grandchildren, Ryan and Justin Noftall, Keegan and Samantha Valerio. Reverend Randy Lockyear conducted the funeral service assisted by Reverend Walter Hammond, Reverend William Rice, and Mrs. Ethel Bennett at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church on May 21, 2009. Interment was at the Anglican Cemetery. Pallbearers were Vic Whitten, Barbara Whitten, Thomas Granter, George Thorne, Paul Noftall, and Rodger Bradshaw. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.

JEWER, Effie M. (nee Curlew) - February 10, 1922-May 3, 2009-It is with sadness that the families of the late Effie M. Jewer announce her passing at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Centre, Botwood, Nfld., at age 87 years. She is predeceased by husband, Edgar Jewer; parents, Fred and Bessie Curlew; brother, William Curlew; sister, Lulu and sister-in-law, Ethel Curlew. Left to mourn with fond loving memories are brothers, Victor, Samuel (Kathleen) Curlew, and Herman (Hettie) Curlew; sister, Rita (Walter) Marsh; brothers-in-law, Fred (Will) Jewer and Cliff Jewer; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral service took place Tuesday, May 5, 2009 from the United Church, Botwood, NL, with Reverend Linda Burt officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to the Trinity United Church Memorial Fund or charity of one's choice. Pallbearers were Herman Curlew, Hedley Curlew, Samuel Curlew, Will Curlew, Pearce Jewer and Walter Marsh. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Botwood Funeral Home, Botwood.

JEWER, Vera Maxine - Passed away at her residence on May 25, 2009 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer, Vera Maxine Jewer, Grand Falls-Windsor. She was 65 years of age. Mrs. Jewer retired from nursing. Predeceased by her parents, Mac and Evelyn Peyton. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her husband, Al Jewer; sons Paul (Nadine) Halifax, NS, Craig (Tracey), Grand Falls-Windsor, two grandchildren, Ella and Ethan. Also leaving to mourn brothers, Glenn Peyton (June), Percy Peyton (Audrey), Owen Peyton (Marilyn) and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Linda Burt will conduct funeral services at Trinity United Church, Botwood on Thursday, May 28 with interment at the United Church Cemetery, King's Ridge Road, Botwood. JINE, James - Passed peacefully away May 2, 2009 at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Centre, Botwood, James Jine at the age of 73 years. Mr. Jine was an active businessman. Left to mourn wife, Jean; son, Jonathan (wife, Xiulingou) of Botwood. Also leaving to mourn a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Linda Burt conducted family services at Hoskins Funeral Homes, Botwood, May 4, 2009 at 9 p.m. Funeral arrangements were by Hoskins Funeral Homes, Botwood, Nfld. and Carnell's, St. John's, Nfld. Funeral services were held at Carnell's Chapel, St. John's, Thursday, May 7 at 11 a.m. Interment was at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, St. John's, Nfld. Pallbearer was Jonathan Jine.
JINE, James (1936 - 2009) - Passed peacefully away May 2, 2009 at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Centre, Botwood, James Jine. He was 73 years of age. Predeceased by his parents, George and Tamying Jine and father-in-law, Harvey Fong. Mr. Jine was an active businessman and well-known in the Botwood area. James moved to Botwood in 1959 and in 1960 married Jean Fong. James opened a little store on Lighthouse Road, but soon after moved to Commonwealth Drive and opened James Restaurant and Grocery. Here James and Jean made their living serving the residents of Botwood. Left to mourn are his wife Jean and son, Jonathan (Xiulingou) of Botwood; brother, Henry Wong (Suiling) of Marystown; mother-in-law, Winnie Fong of Botwood; brothers-in-law Harvey Fong (Annie) of Toronto, Gerald Fong (Coleen) of St. John's and Roy Fong (Dorothy) of Toronto; sisters-in-law, Joan Duigu (John) of Papua, New Guinea, Pansy Fong and Nancy Fong of Halifax; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Reverend Linda Burt conducted a family service at Hoskins Funeral Home, Botwood on May 4, 2009 and on May 7; Rev. Dr. Kate Crawford conducted a service at Carnell's Memorial Chapel, St. John's. Interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, St. John's. Pallbearers were son, Jonathan, cousin, Dr. Kim Hong, brother-in-law, Roy Fong, nephews Henry Wong, Jr. and Henford Wong and friend Jeffery Seymour. KEATS, Rita Joyce (1923-2009) - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rita Joyce Keats announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on May 23, 2009 at the age of 86. She was a member of St. Alban's Anglican Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Joyce is predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph Keats; parents, George and Druscilla Day; sisters, Gwendolyn Way, Hazel Frampton and Joan Oake; and brothers, Harvey and Harold Day. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are daughters, Sandra (Des Arnold) of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL and Joan (Don Kelly) of Barrie, Ont.; granddaughter, Melissa (Jim Pye) of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL; special great-grandson, Zachary Pye of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL; sisters, Myrtis Penner of Sherwood Park, AB and Daphne (Alf Mills) of Bishop's Falls, NL; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Interment was at the St. Alban's Anglican Cemetery on Caribou Road, Grand Falls-Windsor. KELLY, Mary Frances - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Frances Kelly announce her passing at her residence in Bishop's Falls on May 23, 2009 at the age of 80. Mary was predeceased by her husband and veteran Robert Kelly; parents, Frederick and Elizabeth Dalton; sister, Theresa and brothers, Patrick, Roy and Harold. Left with fond and loving memories are her sons, Jerry of Edmonton, AB, James (Cathy) of Bishop's Falls, Fred (Paulette) of Point Leamington, Robert (Marette) of Bon Accord, AB and daughers; Alexis of Bishop's Falls, Elizabeth (Paul O'Neil) of St. John's, Theresa (Scott MacPherson) of Ft. McMurray, AB and Lorraine (Alex Worsfold) of Bathurst, NB. Also left to mourn are her sisters, Rita, Kathleen and brothers; Fred and Bill; 14 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. KING, Herbert Walter- Passed away peacefully on May 19, 2009 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, Herbert Walter King. He was 76 years of age. Mr. King retired from Abitibi Consolidated Inc. and was a member of Mens Fellowship. Predeceased by wife, Nona King (Snow); parents, James King and Gladys King; daughter, Shirley; brother, Jack King; brother-in-law, Norman Fudge. MACDONALD, Viola - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Viola Agnes MacDonald "Loal" announce her passing at the Central Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor on May 15, 2009 at the age of 81. Loal was a member of the 50-Plus Club and the YMCA. Predeceased by her husband Michael MacDonald, both parents, son-in-law Bruce Way, brothers-in-law, Dave Janes and Don Petrie. Left with fond and loving memories are sons, Michael (Bernie) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Harry (Debra) of Grand Falls-Windsor; daughters, Margaret of Grand Falls-Windsor, Eileen (Gary) of Calgary and Mary (Delbert) of Saskatchewan. MERCER, Margaret R. (nee Flood) (February 9, 1941-May 23, 2009) - It is with sadness that the families of the late Margaret Mercer announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, aged 68 years. She is predeceased by her husband, John Douglas Sr.; son, Graham; parents, George and Anne Flood; sisters, Betty and Doreen; brothers, Edward, Jack and Gerald. Left to mourn with fond loving memories are sons, Dave (Sharon) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Doug (Donna) of St. John, NB, Debbie Mercer of St. John's, Cindy Mercer of Largo, Florida; grandchildren, Angela, Sarah and Danny; sisters, Shirley, Barbara, Mary, Gloria, Carmel, Helen, Linda and Brenda; brothers, Butch and Terry; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. NELSON, Deborah Doreen (Rowsell) - (September 10, 1958 - May 6, 2009) - On May 6, 2009, God decided to take our beautiful mother, grandmother, best friend and loving sister to be with him and the angels in heaven. Surrounded by her loving family and friends at the Miller Centre, Mom passed peacefully away. Left to mourn are her three children, Sherry, Holly and Matthew (Tara-Lee); two darling little dolls, Brooklyn and Madison; sisters, Janet, Wanda and Jackie; brothers, Otto, Lloyd, Dave and Shawn and many supportive and devoted friends. As well, we would also like to take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to all the healthcare professionals and volunteers who provided exceptional care throughout our journey. Mom has touched so many lives in so many ways, and although she is no longer with us, we are comforted knowing that one day we will all be together again.

O'REILLY, Ruth (1940 - 2009) - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ruth O'Reilly announce her passing at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor on May 4, 2009 at the age of 68. Ruth retired from Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre as Manager. Predeceased by father and mother, John and Josephine, sisters: Mary Brazil, Anne Tremblett, Kathy McGuire, Shirley O'Reilly, brothers: Ambrose and Patrick. Left with fond and loving memories are sister Cecilia Nolan and brother John. Also leaving to mourn are nieces and nephews, along with a large number of relatives and friends. Reverend Father Linus Coady conducted the funeral service at the Sacred Heart Church on May 6, 2009. Interment will be at a later date. Pallbearers were Ed Tremblett, Paul Brazil, Lar Nolan, Isaac Budgell, Dave O'Reilly and Mike McGuire. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.

PADDOCK, Maxwell F. - It is with sadness that the families of the late Maxwell Paddock announce his passing May 26, 2009 at the Carmelite Seniors Citizens Home, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, aged 87. He is predeceased by wife, Pearl; parents, Ernest and Maude Paddock; brothers, Edward, Cameron, and Harvey; sister, Louise, and grandson, Damian. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are sons, Robert, (Phyllis) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Terry (Alma) of Grand Falls-Windsor; daughters, Betty (Peter) of Ontario, Ruth (Michael) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Karen of Belize; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; also leaving to mourn, brothers, Cecil (Lizzie), and Melvin (Barbra); as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. The funeral service took place Friday, May 28 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with the interment at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Caribou Rd., Grand Falls-Windsor. PELLEY, Ruth (1934 - 2009) - It is with great sadness that the family of Ruth Marie Pelley, age 75 announce the passing of their dear mother May 1, 2009 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Hospital after a short illness. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Aubrey (Gord) Pelley, parents, Ambrose and Alice O'Reilly, sisters, Anne Griffin and Catherine Patterson, brothers, Junior and Kevin O'Reilly. Left to mourn are sons, Aubrey (Madonna), Chris (Brenda), Roland, all of Bishop's Falls and son, Jody (Peggy) of Goose Bay; daughters, Margaret (Jack) King and Mary (Robert) Rice of Bishop's Falls. Also left to mourn are brothers, Desmond, Joseph (Lorraine), Jack (Margaret) and Leo (Shirley) all of Bishop's Falls; sisters Mary Shea, Grand Falls-Windsor and Sister Ruth O'Reilly, Port au Port, eight grandchildren and a large circle of family and friends. Ruth was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved to bring family and friends together. Funeral Services were conducted by Father Linus Cody, Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Bishop's Falls, Monday, May 4, 2009.
She will be sadly missed by all.

POLLETT, Frances Belle - Passed peacefully away May 15, 2009 at the Carmelite House, Grand Falls-Windsor, Frances Belle Pollett of Bishop's Falls. She was 84 years of age. Predeceased by husband, Ernest Pollett; sisters, Julia Pardy-Ball, Gladys Lush-Harvey. Left to mourn sons, Jim Pollett of Bishop's Falls, Bill Pollett (wife, Danette Pollett) of Bishop's Falls; daughters, Jan Bard (Andre Bard) of Victoria, B.C. and Karen Pollett (Ken Barter) of St. John's, Nfld. Also leaving to mourn sisters, Dorothy Andrews, Martha Janes, Jean Noel; brother, Gordon Bignell; six grandchildren, Adam and Stefan Bard, Cameron, Trent, Tyler and Rebecca Pollett and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Reverend Elizabeth Stewart conducted funeral services at Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle, Bishop's Falls, Monday, May 18, 2009. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery, Bishop's Falls. PRETTY, Scott Clifford - (June 9, 1960-May 12, 2009) - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Scott Pretty, formerly of Bishop's Falls, announce his tragic passing Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the age of 48. Leaving to mourn with very fond and loving memories are his wife, Charlene of Stony Plain, AB; daughter, Vikki (Jon) of Calgary, AB; sons, Ryan (Stacey), Nathan and Adam of Stony Plain, AB; parents, Cliff and Betty Pretty; brothers, Wayne (Olive), Max (Dorothy), Glen (Jocelyn), Todd (Lisa); sisters, Gale (Chesley), Michelle (Peter), Nadine (Dave), Cindy (Tom); step-grandchildren, Evan and Johnny; brothers-in-law, Otto, Andre (Joy) and Darin (Janis) LeDrew; sisters-in-law, Cora, Myra (Josh), Hannah (Melvin) and Selena (Vance). ROWSELL, Richard - Passed away after a lengthy illness May 16, 2009 at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Centre, Botwood, NL, Richard Rowsell of Leading Tickles, NL. He was 68 years of age. Predeceased by parents, Frederick and Bertha Rowsell; brother, Pleaman Rowsell; sister, Myrtle Parsons. Left to mourn are wife, Theresa Rowsell; sons, Darren (wife, Wanda) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Neil of Leading tickles; daughters, Cavell (husband, Nelson Peddle) of Leading Tickles, Vanessa (husband, Sterling Hannam) of Leading Tickles, Dallas (husband, Bailey Noseworthy) of Leading Tickles, Leona (husband, Sandy Noseworthy) of Leading Tickles, Frances (husband, Henry Fudge) of Leading Tickles and Lynette (husband, Curtis Rowsell) of St. John's. WHEELER, Vera Bernice - Passed peacefully away at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on May 19, 2009 at Age 77. Vera resided at Hollet's Residence at the time of her passing. She worked at Sweeney's Photo Studios in earlier years. She was predeceased by her husband, Edgar Wheeler; mother, Carrie Higdon; and sisters, Joyce and Vida. Left to mourn are sister, Frances Ferguson, Winnipeg, MB; nieces, Carrie Ferguson (partner, Robert, Garret, Adelle and Seth) from Grand Valley, ON; Catherine Ferguson in Winnipeg; Nephew Scott Ferguson in Winnipeg. Brother-in-law, Simeon Baker, Corner Brook (and nephew, Glen and Donna). Dearest friends Terrilynn Sweetland and partner, Paul Wood, Randy and Barb Sweetland, along with numerous other relatives and friends. Vera was a very loving and generous person. Her strength of character and passion survived her through many years of illness. She could put herself aside and crochet or knot yet another signature afghan. She loved her family and idolized her sister, Frances and her friend, Terrilynn, who was like the child she never had. She loved children, music, TV and games. She just loved life!!! Away from her pain she rests with God. A visiting of family and friends to celebrate Vera's life took place on Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Rev. Roy Reynolds conducted a service in her memory at the chapel at the Central Funeral Home on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 11 am.
Vera will be forever near, and our lives are richer for having known her.

WHITE, June Hazel - Passed peacefully away May 3, 2009, June Hazel White at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, at 67 years. She was a member of the Windsor Pentecostal Church. Predeceased by mother and father, Dorman and Lillian; brother, Glen and sister, Doris. Left to mourn are brother, Reg (wife, Cora); sisters, Shirley (husband, Bill) Brace, Rita Champion; sister-in-law, Mary White; and a large circle of nephews, nieces, other family and friends. Pastor Elaine Rideout conducted funeral services at Windsor Pentecostal Church, Grand Falls-Windsor on Wednesday, May 6, 2009. Pallbearers were her nephews, Harry and Byron White; Dean and Bob White; Terry Loder and Reg Loder. Interment was at United Cemetery, Badger. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Homes, Grand Falls-Windsor.
