BAILEY, Robert - Passed peacefully away on June
30, 2008 at his residence
in Bishop's Falls, Robert Bailey. He was 85 years of age. Predeceased
by his parents, Harry and Ester; two sons, Johnny, Ernest; one great-grandchild,
Hayley; son-in-law, Franklin Manuel. Left to mourn are his wife, Flora;
son, Ralph (Alma); daughter, Betty Manuel, all from Bishop's Falls. Also
leaving to mourn is one foster child, Rosalind Hancott; five grandchildren,
Nicole, Fern, Chad, Tony, Tim; nine great-grandchildren, Brooke, Tara-Leigh,
Stephen, Alana, Brent, Lane, Luke, April, Shane; two great-great-grandchildren,
Aaron, Sarah and a large circle of other relatives and friends. They
have also been foster parents to over 300 children in the past 48 years.
Pastor J.E. White conducted the funeral service from Calvary Pentecostal
Tabernacle, Bishop's Falls on Thursday, July 3, 2008. Interment was at
the Pentecostal Cemetery, Sunset Drive, Bishop's Falls. Funeral arrangements
were entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home, Bishop's Falls. Pallbearers were
Reg Ellis, Verd Ellis, Darren Reid, Onslow Balsom, Gerald Ellis and Bert
Luff.
BROPHY, William Patrick (1938–2008) – It
is with an overwhelming sense of sadness and loss that we announce the
sudden passing of William
Brophy of Grand Falls-Windsor at the Health Sciences Centre on June
22, 2008 at the age of 70. Bill was predeceased by his father,
Leo Sr. and mother, Johanna. He retired from the Motor Registration
in Grand Falls-Windsor 15 years ago. He was a very kind, generous and
caring husband and father. Bill was a member of the Bishop’s
Falls Knights of Columbus and a member of Immaculate Conception Parish.
He loved Grand Falls and all things outdoors. He loved working with
wood and tools and was always keen to take on any project. He will
be sadly missed by all, especially his family, wife, Ursula, daughter,
Pauline and son, Michael (Adelia), as well as his brothers, Kevin,
Leo (Mary), Derm (Patsy); sisters, Josephine Alyward (Raymond), Angela
Byrne, Sister Mary Brophy; his in-laws on the Furey side as well as
nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, and many, many
friends. The funeral service was held at the Immaculate Conception
Cathedral in Grand Falls-Windsor on June 25, 2008. The pallbearers
were Ed Connolly, Scott Gillingham, Eli Jerrett, Sean Kelly, Jack Paddick,
Lloyd Macintyre, Gary Parsons and Roy Pynn. Donations may be made in
his memory to the Lung Association.
BUDGELL, Margaret Lillian – Passed peacefully
away on June
10, 2008 at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Centre, Margaret
Lillian Budgell of Botwood. She was 78 years old. Predeceased by parents, Ethel and William
Pelley; brothers, Stan, Phillip, Fred, Ron, Howard (Georgina); sister,
Stella (John Stride). Left to mourn are husband, George; sons, Tony (Gail),
Shon; daughters, Marlene (Wayne Dean), Debbie (Jerry Fudge), Connie (Wilbert

BURRY, Muriel Ida — It is with great sadness that the family of
the late Muriel Burry announce the passing of their loving mother at
the Colchester Hospital in Truro, NS on June 4, 2008 at the age of 88
years. Born in Cottrell’s Cove, NL, she was the daughter of the
late Edward and Fannie Boone. She was predeceased by her husband of 58
years, Randolph Burry. Left to mourn with fond loving memories are her
son, Donald Burry (Ann Kee) of Moncton, NB, daughter, Neitah Burry-McCrindle
of Halifax, NS; grandsons, Tyler Burry (Maria Berrena) of Windsor, ON,
Jonathan McCrindle (Marriam Aboli El-Haj) of Halifax, NS; granddaughter,
Deliah Burry of Vancouver, BC and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation
took place Friday, June 13, 2008 from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Grace United
Church, Cottrell’s Cove, The funeral took place on June 14, 2008
at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Linda Burt officiating. Interment was at the
Grace United Church cemetery. In her memory donations may be made to
the cemetery fund of the Cottrell’s Cove United Church. Funeral

CAMPBELL, Carson Joseph – Passed peacefully away June
1, 2008, Carson Joseph Campbell (retired Major) at his residence in Botwood. He
was 58 years of age. Mr. Campbell retired from the Royal Canadian Air
Force in 1990 and was a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
Predeceased by father, John Campbell and brother, Donny Campbell. Left
to mourn mother, Viola Campbell; wife, Gwen Campbell; son David of Ottawa,
Ontario; daughters, Christine (husband, Frank Lacourciere) of Oshawa,

DAVIS, Margaret Marie – Margaret Davis, July 10, 1945 - June 2,
2008, passed away at home in Tweed, ON after a lengthy illness. A service
will be held for Marg at St. Joseph’s Church on Aug. 7 at 2 p.m.
Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic cemetery. Margaret is the daughter
of Harold and Nora Davis (predeceased); wife to Leonard Whiffen Jr. (predeceased)
and their son James ‘Bo’ (predeceased). Left to mourn are

He was 55 years of age. Mr. Dawe retired from Superior Propane in 2007.

2008. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery in Sop’s Arm. Funeral
arrangements were entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home, Grand Falls-Windsor.
Pallbearers were Rob Rideout, Calvin Bailey, Bernard Rideout, Gerald
Philpott, Dave King and Tony McDonald.
ROWSELL, May (1923–2008) – It is with great sadness that
the family of the late May Rowsell announce her passing at the Central
Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor on June
21, 2008 at the age of 84 years. May was a lifetime member of the Salvation
Army and The Home League. Predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Amelia
Groves of Bonavista; sisters, Margaret (Arthur) Wells, Maude (Herman)
Raymond, Jessie (Chesley) Cornick and Dora (Cyril) Day; brothers, Norman
Groves, Wallace Groves, Wilfred Groves, Frederick Groves and Robert Groves.
Left with fond and loving memories are Ralph, her husband of 60 years;
son, Fred (Brenda) of Grand Falls-Windsor; granddaughters, Nicole (Neil)
McHugh of Chicago, Ill, U.S.A., Karyn Rowsell (friend, Tim Smith) of
Bangkok, Thailand, Janice Rowsell (fiancé, Mark Kennedy) of St.
John’s, Michelle Rowsell (Byron Clarke) of St. John’s; as
well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Captains Morris and
Wanda Vincent conducted the funeral at the Salvation Army Citadel on
Monday, June 23, 2008. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Walwyn Blackmore, Bob Bradbury, Frank Critch, Mark Kennedy,
Ron Rowsell and Gary Wall. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim
Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.
THOMAS, Ross Wesley – Passed away June
26, 2008 at Toronto General
Hospital after a lengthy illness, Ross Wesley Thomas. He was 59 years
of age. Mr. Thomas was a member of the Kinsmen, Masons and Rotary Club.
Predeceased by parents, Eric and Lily Thomas. Left to mourn are wife,
Lois; son, Kris (wife, Jessica {Reid}) of Labrador City; daughter, April
(husband, Jamie Schmerer) of Permbroke, Bermuda. Also leaving to mourn
sisters Frona White, Jane Walsh; brother, Basil Thomas; and a large circle
of other relatives and friends. Maj. Sandra Stokes conducted funeral
services at the Salvation Citadel in Grand Falls-Windsor, Tuesday, July
1, 2008. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Caribou Road,
Grand Falls-Windsor. Funeral arrangements were by Hoskins Funeral Home,
Grand Falls-Windsor. Pallbearers were members of the Masonic Lodge, Ross
Granter, Louis Alteen, John Matthews, Gary Burgess, Ken Miller and Otto
Ryan.
