BLUNDON, Leonard - (Mar. 4, 1945–Dec. 9, 2008)–It is with
great sadness that the families of the late Leonard F. Blundon announce
his passing at his residence in Millertown, Nfld., aged 63 years. Predeceased
by his father, Alfred Blundon. Left to mourn with fond loving memories

BUDGELL, Charlotte (née Seymore) October 17, 1921 - December
31, 2008 - It is with great sadness that the families of the late Charlotte
Budgell announce her passing at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Center in
Botwood, NL, aged 87 years. Predeceased by her husband, Edgar Budgell;
son, Jerry Budgell; sisters, Eleanor Cramm, Sadie Charr, Nethia Pearce
and Lucy Whitt; brothers, Max Seymore, Joe Tarrent, John Seymore and

BUDGELL, John - Passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness at the
Central NL Regional Health Care Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, John
Gerard Budgell, Grand Falls-Windsor. He was 59 years of age. Mr. Budgell retired
from the NL Liquor Corporation in 2006. Predeceased by parents, John
and Mary (Molly) Budgell; infant brother, David. Left to mourn are his
wife, Mary Budgell; son, John T. Budgell (Sara Pinsent), High Prairie,
AB; daughter, Genevieve (Jody Gillard), Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. Also

CONNOLLY, Edmund James (Ted) – Passed peacefully
away in the presence of his family at the Health Sciences Centre, St.
John’s on Dec.
6, 2008, Edmund James (Ted) Connolly, age 80. Predeceased by
his wife Margaret (2006), brothers, Bill, Jerry and Frank, and sister,
Mary. Leaving to mourn his sisters, Margaret (Jim) Byrne, Madeline Insalaco,
Newbury Port, U.S.A., Geraldine Haring, Joan (Tom) O’Reilly, and
Maureen (Ray) Whalen; and brother Pat (Agnes), Brooklyn, NY. Also leaving
to mourn a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends, as well as special
neighbour, Tom Fagan of Grand Falls-Windsor. Ted loved the outdoors and
was an avid salmon fisherman. He was a 4th Degree Knight(s) of Columbus
and worked with CN until his retirement in 1984. He lived in Grand Falls-Windsor
until May, 2006, when he moved to St. John’s. Special thanks to
all of his caregivers in Grand Falls-Windsor and at Chancellor Park.

Burial was held Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008 at 11 a.m. from the Cathedral of

DAVIS, Gregory Luke Jr. - 1938 - 2008 – It is with great sadness
that the family of the late Gregory Luke Davis Jr. Announce his passing
at the Health Science Centre in St. John’s on December
1, 2008 at the age of 70. Gregory was a member of the Knights of Columbus and
he retired from CN Rail in 2003. He is predeceased by his mother, Margaret

in Grand Falls-Windsor, Gwendolyn Drover. She was 75 years of age. Predeceased

FARR, John Benedict (1949 - 2008) - It is with great sadness that the
family of the late John Benedict Farr announce his passing at the Central
Newfoundland Regional Health Center on December 16, 2008, at the age
59. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church.
John is predeceased by his wife, Josephine Helen (Tubrett) Farr. Left
with fond and loving memories are sons, John Farr of Grand Falls-Windsor
and Jim Farr of Grand Falls-Windsor; daughter, Corrinne Farr of Clarenville.

FORWARD, Amanda Laura - It is with great sadness that the family of
the late Amanda Laura Forward of Corner Brook announces her sudden passing
on December 18, 2008 at the age of 20 years, as the result of a tragic
motor vehicle accident. Amanda was the loving daughter of Gail Langdon-Marche
(Donny) and John Forward (Sandra); loving sister of Johnathan Forward
(Shungu), and endearing granddaughter of Gower and June Langdon of Botwood
and Lloyd and Shirley Forward of Halifax. Also left with fond memories
are her stepsisters, Heather and Courtney Marche; stepbrother and sisters,
Sonya, Jonathan and Sheila Gould, nephews, Dion and Josh; aunts and uncles;
and a large circle of other family and friends in whose hearts she will
live forever. Amanda was a lover of creatures great and small. She graduated
from Regina High School, Corner Brook in 2006 and was pursuing a degree
in biology at Memorial University with hopes of a career in animal science
and care. The funeral service took place at First United, Park St. on
Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Wayne Cole officiating.

HENNESSEY, Allan Peter – Passed peacefully away on Tuesday,
December 2, 2008 at the Hospice Renfrew in his 67 year, Allan
Peter Hennessey of Petawawa, Ontario. Beloved husband of Judith Anne Hennessey (nee Hawkins),
Loving father of Paula (Mike) Stefanich of North Bay. Dear brother of
Leo and Tom of Nova Scotia, Ted and Paul Hennessey of Grand Falls-Windsor,
Newfoundland. Predeceased by parents, Leo and Gertrude Hennessey (nee
Edwards), by sister, Jean Perrin and by brother, Alphonsus Hennessey.
Allan will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews and lifelong
friends. Allan left Grand Falls in 1962 to join the Canadian Guards Regiment
Pipe and Drum Band. He participated in the annual changing of the guard
ceremonies on Parliament Hill in Ottawa for many years as a drummer and
drum major. After the Canadian Guards disbanded in 1970, Allan enlisted
with Royal Canadian Regiment until 1995 when he retired from the Armed

HOLLETT, Effie Barbara - Passed peacefully away Dec.
26, 2008, after
a lengthy illness, Effie Barbara Hollett, with her daughter
Barbara at her side, supported and comforted by Sister Fernand, who was
with her till the end. Effie was born in Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland
on Oct. 13, 1919 to John and Mary Eastman. In the summer of 1937, Effie
married Arthur Hollett and together they raised four sons and four daughters
and suffered the loss of three other children, who sadly passed away
as infants. Effie was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary Eastman
of Grand Falls-Windsor; husband, Arthur; three sons, David, John, William;
two daughters, Edith and Jean; five brothers, Andrew and William Eastman
of Ontario, Lewis, Clayton and Hubert Eastman of Grand Falls-Windsor;
two sisters, Violet of Ontario and Carrie of Newfoundland. Left to mourn
her passing are four daughters, Pearl (husband, Max Norris) of Eckville,
Alta.; Ada Wilkinson of Ottawa, Ont.; Barbara George of Ponteix, Sask.;
Hazel Sugg of SunRidge, Ont.; two sons, Arthur Hollett (wife, Carolyn)
of Kingston, Ont., Munden Hollett of Linden, Alta.; as well as numerous

JACKSON, Gordon James – Passed peacefully away on Dec.
3, 2008 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor,
surrounded by his loving family and welcomed into the arms of Jesus,
Gordon James Jackson of Grand Falls-Windsor. He was 82 years of age.
Mr. Jackson retired from the family Blacksmith business in the late 60’s.
Predeceased by wife, Laura; son, Terry; son-in-law, Wally. Left to mourn

the family of the late Terrance Parsons LeDrew announce his passing at
the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor
on Dec. 25, 2008 at the age of 73. He was a member of the Central Newfoundland
Antique Auto Club. Terrance is predeceased by his first wife, Margaret

LOVELESS, Grace - Passed peacefully away Dec.
29, 2008, in the presence
of her three daughters, Grace Loveless at the Central Newfoundland Regional
Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor. She was 80 years old. Mrs. Loveless
was a member of the Women’s Ministries in Harbour Breton and the
Evangel Pentecostal Church. Predeceased by husband, Albert in 2001; sisters,
Emily and Minnie; brothers, Arthur and Walter; special niece, Velma Strickland.

MERCER, George Bruce (1932-2008) - It is with great
sadness that the family of the late (George) Bruce Mercer announce
his passing at home in Grand Falls-Windsor on December 18, 2008,
at the age of 76. He was a member of the Salvation Army and retired from
Abitibi in Grand Falls-Windsor. Bruce is predeceased by his parents,

SHEPPARD, Malcolm Ronald - (Jun. 14, 1925–Dec. 14, 2008) – Passed
peacefully away at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor, Dec.
14, 2008, after a lengthy illness, Malcolm Ronald Sheppard at the age of
83 years. Malcolm spent most of his life in Point Leamington and in September
2008, moved to Grand Falls-Windsor with his wife Ruby, to be closer to
family. He worked as a fisherman, logger and finished his working career
as a carpenter with A.S.A.R. Co. Mines in Buchans, Nfld. Predeceased
by parents, Stephen and Ellen Sheppard; sisters, Mollie, Elsie, Bessie;
brothers, Edgar and Wilson Sheppard. Left to mourn are wife, Ruby Sheppard;
children, Marilyn (Ivan White) of Seal Cove, CBS, NL, Pauline (Barry
Saunders) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Lorne (Karen) of Kelligrews, Larry
of Fort McMurray, Alberta, and Neysa (Paul Decker) of Grand Falls-Windsor;

SILK, Nina Helen (1927 - 2008) - It is with great sadness
that the family of the late Nina Silk announce her passing
at the Carmelite Nursing Home, in Grand Falls-Windsor, on December
21, 2008, at the age of 81. Nina
was a member of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church for over 50 years. Nina
retired from the Grand Falls Academy. She is predeceased by her mother,
Annabelle Tilley (nee Gardiner); father, Augustus Tilley, four sisters,
four brothers, and Infant grandson, Eric. Left with fond and loving memories
are her husband, Hiram Silk, three sons, Ronald of Grand Falls-Windsor

SULLIVAN, William (1929 - 2008) - It is with great sadness that the
family of the late William Sullivan announce his passing at home on Dec.
30, 2008, at the age of 79. Bill was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion
Branch 12 and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the Princess
Patricia Canadian Light Infantry from 1950 - 1953. He is retired from
Abitibi Price in 1988. Bill is predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Peaty
in 2006, and parents, Peter and Anne Sullivan; brothers, Peter, Jim and
Ron. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are son, Paul (Florence)
of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL and daughter, Lorraine (Bryan Nichols) of

Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook, Kathleen Walsh, aged 76. Miss Walsh

Church, Botwood on Saturday, December 20, 2008. Interment was at United
Church Cemetery, Botwood. Funeral arrangements were by Hoskins Funeral
Home, Botwood.
WATKINS, Gladys Elma - Passed peacefully away on December
21, 2008 at
the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Centre, Botwood, Gladys Elma
Watkins.
She was 88 years of age. Predeceased by husband, Thomas R. Watkins. Left
to mourn are sons, Robert (Marie), Bruce; daughter, Vera. Also leaving
to mourn are her sister, Rosie; brothers, Wilson and Retis; four grandchildren,
five great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Pastor Fraser Roberts conducted the funeral service at Jubilee Pentecostal
Temple, Botwood. Interment at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Botwood. Funeral
arrangements were entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home, Botwood. Pallbearers
are Retis (brother), Robert (son), Bruce (son), Chad (grandson), Tom
(grandson), and Wayne (nephew)
WHIFFEN, Pius Gerard – Passed peacefully away Dec.
7, 2008, Pius Gerard Whiffen at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in
Grand Falls-Windsor. He was 68 years of age. Predeceased by parents,
Peter and Mary Whiffen; brothers, Patrick and Michael. Left to mourn
are wife, Madonna Whiffen; son, William of Brampton, Ont.; daughter,
Penny (husband, Robert McDonald) of Grand Falls-Windsor. Also leaving
to mourn Priscilla (Pat) Mooney of Buchans and Shirley O’Reilly
of Grand Falls-Windsor and a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Father William Houlahan conducted funeral services at St. Joseph’s
Roman Catholic Church, Grand Falls-Windsor, Dec. 9, 2008. Interment was
at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were by Hoskins
Funeral Home, Grand Falls-Windsor. Pallbearers were William Whiffen,
Robert McDonald, David O’Reilly, Cory O’Reilly, Jim Whiffen
and Tommy Whiffen.
WHITE, William Joseph (1925-2008) - Passed peacefully
away on December
13, 2008, William Joseph White, age 83, at the Central Newfoundland
Regional Health Center. William is predeceased by parents Alexander and
Bertha White, brother Raymond, sister-in-law Thelma, and sister Anna.
Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Catherine, sisters-in-law
Bertha Hennessey, Theresa McCullough, and Mary O'Leary; brothers-in-law
Gerard and Paul O'Leary, as well as a large number of nieces, nephews,
family and friends. Father Richard Salas conducted the funeral mass on
Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Interment followed at the Roman
Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dominic Lynch, Matt Grouchy, Dick
Duder, Terry Murray, Jed Sullivan and John O'Reilly. Funeral arrangements
were entrusted to Mike Goodyear of Central Funeral Homes.
WOOLRIDGE, Edward Ronald - Passed away on Dec.
30, 2008 Edward Roland Woolridge of Botwood at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Centre. He was
70 years old. Predeceased by his parents, James and Agnes Woolridge;
sisters, Shirley Winters and Jessie Woolridge. Left to mourn are sons,
James Pope (Nicole) and Richard Pope; daughters, Agnes (Rick Antle),
Patsy Vokey (Scott Kuczeryk), Mary (Daryl Loveman) and Sarah McDonald
(Owen). Also leaving to mourn sister, Mary Boone and brother, Bill Woolridge
and 12 grandchildren. Rev. David Coffin conducted the funeral services
from St. James Anglican Church, Botwood on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009. Interment
followed at The United Church Cemetery, Botwood. Funeral arrangements
were entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home, Botwood. Pallbearers were Daryl
Loveman, Jamie Crann, Darrin Boone, John Boone, Ricky Boone and James
Pope.
