ANDERSON, Daphne

Daphne Louise (Pike) Anderson
1940 - 2010

It is with great sadness that the family of Daphne (Pike) Anderson announce her passing on August 9, 2010 in Elliot Lake, Ontario. She passed peacefully at St. Joseph's General Hospital with her devoted husband at her side. Daphne was the beloved wife and best friend of Bob for 49 years. She was predeceased by her brother Walter, special aunt Susie Pike, parents Alexander & Alma Pike, and infant son Robert. She was the dear sister of Marie (Jim) Green of Grand Falls-Windsor, Ralph (Dianne) Pike of Stratford, Ontario, and Kay (Joe) Tracey of St. John's. Daphne is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. This wonderful and compassionate lady will be fondly remembered by her family, many friends and all who met her. She courageously battled many illnesses for the past fifty years, never complained, and always stayed positive. Her strength and perseverance inspired many who knew her. Following Daphne's wishes, cremation took place in Ontario through the care of Alternative Funeral Services. Internment in Grand Falls - Windsor on September 8 was entrusted to Central Funeral Homes and officiated by Rev. Roy Martin.

BRADBURY, Allan David
1946 - 2010
Passed peacefully away on August 4, 2010 at the Central NL Regional Health Care Centre, surrounded by the love of family and friends, Allan David Bradbury of Grand Falls-Windsor. Big Al was 64 years of age. Predeceased by his parents William and Annie Bradbury, and brothers Roy and William. He leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Enid, his son Geoff (Lorelei), daughter Karen Blackmore (Andrew), Poppy's girl Melissa Blackmore, and Poppy's little man Christopher Bradbury. Also left to mourn his brother Harry (wife Sheila), mother-in-law Anne Coombs, brothers-in-law Alex Coombs, Joe Coombs and Lorne Coombs, and sister-in-law Betty Franklin and their families. Also leaving to mourn are numerous nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of friends and family, including his friends and co-workers at Scotsburn Dairy (originally Brookfield Ice Cream Ltd.), a company he worked for for 45 years. Rev. Randy Lockyer conducted the funeral service at Holy Trinity Anglican Church on Saturday, August 7th. Interment at the Interfaith Cemetery, Grand Falls-Windsor. Pallbearers were Pat Hearn, Brian Walsh, Mike young, Alex Coombs, David Bradbury and Robert Reid. No flowers by request, donations can be made in his memory to the Cancer Clinic located in Grand Falls-Windsor. FINN, Ms. Laurie

It is with sadness that the families of the late Laurie Patricia Finn announce her passing at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Heath Centre, Botwood NL, aged 45 years. She is predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Richard and Theresa Finn and Maternal grandparents, William and Effie Budgell. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are parents, Patrick and Una Finn of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL; Sister, Lisa Finn of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.; brother, Craig Finn of Houstan, Texas; Nephews, Aaron Carey, Evan Carey, and Kyle Carey. The funeral Service will take place Friday, August 13, 2010 at 11 am from the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Parish. Visitation will take place Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 7-9 pm, Thursday August 12, 2010 at 2-4 and 7-9 pm from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home 10 Bayley Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.

FREAKE, Mr. Kenneth
Passed away in: Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland, Canada

Passed suddenly away on August 13, 2010 at his residence in Grand Falls-Windsor, Kenneth Eugene Freake Jr. (Kenny) at the age of 38. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Willis and Ruby Hampton; uncle, Leonard Hampton. Left to mourn his passing with fond memories are his parents Kenneth Sr. and Judy Freake; sister, Denise; niece Jessica; nephew Jonathan. Also leaving to mourn are his grandparents, Alfred and Elsie Freake; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastors Elaine Rideout and Robert Parsons will conduct the funeral service at the Windsor Pentecostal Church, Grand Falls-Windsor on Monday, Aug. 16, 2010 with interment at the Pentecostal Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Hoskins Funeral Homes, Grand Falls-Windsor. Pallbearers are Gordon Freake, Winston Freake, Russell Froude, Joseph Walsh, Jason Snook and Reginald Rose. Donations in his memory can be made to the family.

HODDER, Bruce

Passed away on: 05/08/2010
Passed away suddenly on August 5, 2010 at the Central NL Regional Health Centre, Bruce Edward Hodder of Bishop's Falls. He was 81 years of age. Mr. Hodder retired from Bruce's Radio & TV and Hodders Food Mart in 1994 and was a member of the 50+ Club, AOTS, Lions Club, and the Fire Department. Predeceased by son, Gregory. Left to mourn are wife, Joan; daughters, Janice (Wallace Fancy), Jennifer, and Jody all of Bishop's Falls. Also leaving to mourn sister, Bess Jamieson of Texas, USA; brother, Don Hodder of Bishop's Falls; grandchildren, Jenelle, Stacey, Chelsea, and a large circle of other relatives & friends. Rev. Elizabeth Stewart conducted funeral services at Bishops Falls United Church on Saturday August 7, 2010. Interment followed from the United Church Cemetery, Bond Street, Bishop's Falls. Pallbearers were Fred Boone, Vic Budden, Aubrey Goobie, Bob King, Frazer Butt and Joe Saunders.

JEWER, Mrs. Stella (Brown)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our MOTHER Stella Jewer (Brown) of Botwood on Friday, August 6, 2010 at age 86. Predeceased by husband Alfred, Parents; Andrew & Dora Brown, Brother; Dorman Brown. Left to mourn: son; Wilson (Pansy), daughter; Hazel (Douglas Edison), grandsons; Glen, Peter (Krista), granddaughter; Charlene, brothers; Joseph (Olive), Fred (Marina), sisters; Diana (Eric) Freake, Eunice (Alexander) Cull, sister-in-law; Sarah Brown as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Pastor Fraser Roberts conducted the funeral service from Jubilee Pentecostal Temple in Botwood on Monday August 9, 2010. Pallbearers were: Douglas and Peter Edison, Ernest Peyton, Donald Gill, Roy Yates and Roy Mills; Honorary Pallbearers: Hazel Edison, Krista Vaters, Joyce Hart & Penny Peyton.

Passed peacefully away at her home in Grand Falls-Windsor on August 30, 2010, the late Beverley Jean Parsons, aged 58. Predeceased by her parents, Hugh & Isabel Greeley; step-father, Gordon Penney and sister, Elizabeth Parrell; step-brother, Sam Penney. Left with fond and loving memories are: husband, Ronald Bradley; sons, Todd (Sue), and David (Melissa) and their father, Fred (Gail); step-daughter, Wendy (Darwin) and Danielle; brothers, David (Louise), Victor (Marilyn), Ian (Suzanne), and Tolson; sister, Marilyn; step-sister, Virtue (Cyril) Marshall, Jean (Tom) Swain, and Jeanette (Ed) Sheppard; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and a large circle of friends. PENNEY, Mr. Thomas

Passed suddenly but peacefully away on August 12, 2010 at the Central NL Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, Thomas Patrick Penney of Bishop's Falls, age 73. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Jarvis and Margaret; and his brothers, Jerry and John. Left to mourn are his loving wife of 45 years, Patricia (nee Kelly); daughter, Lee Ann who was the pride and joy of his life. Also leaving to mourn sisters, Pat (Denny), Joan, Peggy (Gerald), Geraldine (Wayne), Chris (James); and brothers, Ron (Marge), Bill (Dianne), Len (Phyllis), Terry (Jessie). Also leaving to mourn a large circle of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-law, and a wide circle of relatives & friends along with his furry companion and best friend, Maggie. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home, Bishop's Falls. A Memorial Service took place at Hoskins Funeral Home on Sunday, August 15, 2010. Cremation followed and a Mass of Celebration of Tom's life was conducted by Father Kevin Barker on Monday, August 16th, 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Bishop's Falls. Inurnment followed at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bishop's Falls.

Passed away at Toronto General Hospital (awaiting lung transplant) with Brian at her side on August 10, 2010 at the age of 48. Susan, a 23 year veteran of the Canadian Air Force is survived by her beloved husband Brian Power (formerly of Grand Falls) and their two beautiful sons Colin (19) and Gregory (18), her Mom Pamela (Slack) and {the late Jerry (Mickey) Belleville}, her sister Karen, her 99 year old grandfather Palmer Slack (late Evelyn), her Mother-in-law Margaret (late Jerome) Power, many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins and by many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends, and last but not least by her loyal, "adorable doggy" Bruno. A profound thank you to the excellent medical staff at both the Ottawa and Toronto General Hospitals. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Beechwood National Cemetery, Ottawa. In memory of Susan, please sign your organ donation card.

ROBB, Corrine

Passed away after a lengthy illness on Monday August 23, 2010 at the age of 53. Loving wife of David and beloved mother of Sean & Shannon. Predeceased by her parents Bert & Emma Smith of Bishop's Falls. Leaving to mourn her brothers and sisters; Don (Barbara), Eileen, Bonnie (Charlie), Allister (Margaret), Bruce (Tracy), Patricia and Paulette (Woodrow). She will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews, great niece and great nephew as well as a large number of family and friends both here and Ontario. Funeral Service to be held at McEachnie Funeral Home, Ajax ON on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 1:00 pm. In leiu of flowers donations to the Cancer Centre at the Lakeridge Health Oshawa Site would be greatly appreciated by the family.

WELLS, Mrs. Hilda

It is with great sorrow that the family of the late Hilda Doris May (Whent) Wells of Grand Falls-Windsor announce her passing at the Central Nfld. Regional Health Care Centre August 3, 2010 at Age 90. Born in Weymouth, Dorest, England, June 27, 1920, Hilda joined the Women's Royal Naval Service, (WRNS) during World War II where in September of 1943 she met her future husband, Neal Wells of Grand Falls-Windsor serving in the Royal Navy. Hilda and Neal were married February 9, 1946 in Dagenham, Essex and as a young War Bride she travelled with Neal by the S.S. Lady Rodney to Newfoundland July 26, 1946 to begin their 64 years of married life together. Left to mourn, husband, Neal; Children: David (Beulah) Michelle (Peter Glavine) & John; Pamela (Calvin Sacrey) Nell (Curtis Flynn); Craig & Shane; Clyde (Augustine); and Maureen (Gordon Kennedy) David & Brian. Nephews: Gordon (Phyllis) Ludlow; Bruce Ludlow and Neal (Kathy) Ludlow and families. Special Friends: Joyce Nichols-Bailey and Blanche Bishop-Guppy. Predeceased by parents: Henry and Dorothy Whent, Dagenham, Essex, England; Father and Mother In-Law: Winfield and Clara Wells; Brother and Sister In-Law: Herbert and Marjorie Ludlow; Grand Falls-Windsor.Funeral took place Friday, August 6, 2010 from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Grand Falls-Windsor, with Reverend Randy Lockyer officiating. Pallbearers: Members of Branch 12, Royal Canadian Legion. Internment at a later date. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes. Donations may be made in her honour to the Holy Trinity Anglican Church Memorial Fund.
