BUDGELL, Henry Ronald (1941-2009) - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Henry R. Budgell announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor on August 2, 2009 at the age of 68. Predeceased by parents, Joseph and Mae Budgell, brother Albert Budgell and mother-in-law, Julia Sutherland. Left with fond and loving memories are wife Regina, son Richard (Peggy) of Wareham, and daughters, Jacqueline (Rick) of Bishop's Falls, Lorraine (Shawn) of Bishop's Falls. Also leaving to mourn seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond (Linda) of Bishop's Falls, Willis (Leah) of Bishop's Falls, Nelson (Marilyn) of Bishop's Falls, Harold (Patsy) of Bishop's Falls, Terry (Marie) of Bishop's Falls; sisters, Myrtle King of Bishop's Falls, Ruby (Pete) King of Grand Falls-Windsor, Linda (Dave) Marsh of Newmarket, Ont.; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Major Don Feltham conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel, August 4, 2009. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery. Pallbearers were friends, Ivan Antle and John Smith; nephews, Trevor Budgell, Jim Budgell, Lee Peckford and Alfred Brenton. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Mike Goodyear of Central Funeral Homes.

CARTER, (Flight) Maria Jane - Passed peacefully away August 30, 2009 at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Centre, Botwood at the age of 98. She was formerly of Buchans. Predeceased by husband, William Carter; son, Winston Carter; also daughters-in-law Florence and Shirley. Left to mourn are sons, Cyril (companion, Flo), St. John's; Don, Buchans; Augustus (wife, Laura), St. John's; Barry (wife, Joan), Grand Falls-Windsor; daughters, Yvonne, (husband, Joe) Hemeon of Botwood; Olive (husband, Art) Patey of Grand Falls-Windsor; Ula (husband, Bill) Turner of Gander; Faith (husband, Gerald) Champion of Grand Falls-Windsor; daughter-in-law Doreen Carter; and also leaving to mourn half brother Richard Wells (Lydia), Exploits Island); 23 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Major Collins conducted funeral services at the Salvation Army (Botwood) Thursday, Sept. 3. Interment was at St. James Anglican Cemetery Botwood. Funeral arrangements were conducted by Hoskins Funeral Home. Pallbearer was Barry Carter.

FRANCIS, Kathleen Trixie (Snow) (Jan. 9, 1927 - Aug. 31, 2009) - It is with sadness that the families of the late Kathleen (Snow) Francis announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, aged 82 years. She is predeceased by her first husband, Norman Snow; Second husband, Wilson Francis; son, Danny; sister, Lucy Buckley; and stepmother, Jessie Chinn; and parents, Frank and Bessie Chinn. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her son, David (Ethel) of Botwood, NL; daughter, Freda Keats (Robert DeBartolo) of Ontario; four grandchildren, Justin (Amanda) Snow, Lisa Keats, Cynthia Keats, and Carolyn Keats, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; step-son, John Francis; step-daughter, Marie Eastman, Debbie Francis; two step-children, Zachary Eastman and Elizabeth Eastman; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. The funeral service took place Friday, September 4, 2009 at 2 p.m. from The Salvation Army Citadel, Botwood with Major Calvin Collins officiating. The Interment followed at The Salvation Army Cemetery Botwood. Donations in her memory may be made to the Dr. H Bliss Cancer Clinic, Grand Falls-Windsor. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Botwood Funeral Home, Botwood.

JEWER, Bertram Winston - Passed peacefully away on August 4, 2009 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Care Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor, Bertram Winston Jewer. He was 48 years of age. Predeceased by his father, Bertram. Left to mourn are his wife, Wendy; son, Adam and his mother, Pearl Jewer. Also leaving to mourn sister, Ann (Roger Elliott) and brother, Glynn (Debbie); mother-in-law, Rita Hart; brothers-in-law, Ronald, Larry, Maurice, Jim, John and Denny; sisters-in-law, Marg, Velma, Marilyn, Sandra, Cathy and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Majors Calvin and Beryl Collins conducted funeral services at the Salvation Army Citadel, Botwood, Friday, August 7, 2009. Interment was at Salvation Army Cemetery, Botwood. Funeral arrangements were by Hoskins Funeral Homes, Botwood. Pallbearers were, son, Adam Jewer; brother, Glynn Jewer; brothers-in-law, Denny and Larry Hart; friends, Jerry Dean and Harry Pope.

LOPEZ, Faye Eileen - Apr. 13, 1959 - Aug. 28, 2009 - It is with sadness that the families of the late Faye Lopez announce her passing at her residence in Grand Falls-Windsor on Aug. 28, 2009 at the age of 50 years. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her parents, Rex and Lillian Lopez; three brothers, Herbert, Gary and Tony; seven sisters, Deborah, Robena, Peggy, Patricia, Sherry, Paula and Lori; special pet cat, Samantha; as well as several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The funeral service took place Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009 from Windsor Pentecostal Church, Grand Falls-Windsor with Pastor Gary Andrews and Pastor Elaine Rideout, Co-officiant. Interment at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Caribou Rd., Grand Falls-Windsor. Pallbearers were Ross Witcher, Chris Sampson, Russ Froude, Lloyd Day, Barry Sparkes and Randy Morgan. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Grand Falls-Windsor.

MADDIX, Shirley E. (nee Hutchings) - It is with sadness that the families of the late Shirley Maddix (nee Pardy) announce her passing on Wednesday, Aug. 5 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, aged 76 years. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are husband, Martin; three daughters, Sherri (Dean) Gale of Grand Falls-Windsor, Cathy (David) Earle of Grand Falls-Windsor, and Kim of High Level, AB; two sons, Wayne (Bridget) Pardy of Lewisporte and Rian of Vancouver, BC; step-son, Jason Maddix of Mississauga, ON; sister, Marie (Charlie) Butler of Botwood; three grandchildren; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. She is predeceased by husband, Ralph in 1983. Cremation has taken place. The funeral service to be announced at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 10 Bayley Street, Grand Falls-Windsor. NL.

MARCH, Lillian Rowena - Passed away Aug. 29, 2009 after a lengthy illness, Lillian March of Phillip's Head at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor. She was 73 years of age. Predeceased by husband, Walter March; parents, Phillip Pope and Julia Pope; son-in-law, Fred March; granddaughter, Vanessa Dicks; brothers, Wesley, Stephen, Leonard, Arkless; and sister, Marie. Left to mourn sons, William of Prince Edward Island, Henry of Fort McMurray and Raymond (wife, Karen) of Englee; daughters, Matilda March of Point of Bay, Mildred March (Albert Budgell) of Peterview, Judy Dicks (Mervin Dicks) of Calgary, Marjorie Sweeney (Craig Sweeney) of Botwood and Mary-Lynn March (Barry Sheppard) of Botwood. Also leaving to mourn sisters, Blanche and Edith; brother, George; brother-in-law, Angus March; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Major Calvin Collins conducted funeral services at the Salvation Army Citadel, Botwood, Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Phillip's Head. Funeral arrangements were by Hoskins Funeral Home, Botwood. Pallbearers were sons, Henry March, Raymond March; nephew, Rick Antle; son-in-law, Barry Sheppard; and friends, Wayne Lambert and Stan Peckford.

MILLS, Cecil Roy - Passed peacefully away August 2, 2009 at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's, Nfld., Cecil Roy Mills of Buchans. He was 51. Predeceased by father, Stewart Mills. Left to mourn are wife, Colleen; sons, Stephen (Cheryl) of Churchill Falls, NL; David (wife, Vickie) of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL; and Mark; mother, Lucy Mills; and two grandchildren Makayla and Ty. Also leaving to mourn sisters, Joyce, Barbara, Ruth and Margaret and brothers, Ray, Bob and Bruce; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Shirley Noseworthy conducted funeral services at Windsor Pentecostal Church, Grand Falls-Windsor on August 5, 2009. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Badger. Funeral arrangements were by Hoskins Funeral Home, Grand Falls-Windsor. Pallbearers were Stephen Mills, David Mills, Mark Mills, Bruce Mills, Raymond Mills and Bob Mills. Honorary pallbearers were Roland Bonneau, Bob Williams, Bruce Pardy and David Ivany.

NOSEWORTHY, Calvin - Passed peacefully away Aug. 29, 2009 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, Calvin Noseworthy at the age of 39 years. Predeceased by mother, Gladys and father, Norman; nephew, Roger Mills; and brother-in-law, Ronald Noseworthy. Left to mourn are sisters, Bessie Mills, Louise Noseworthy, Beryl Slade and Maureen Noseworthy; brother, Austin Noseworthy; nine nieces and nephews; four grand-nieces and nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Shawn Bowers conducted funeral services at Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle, Bishop's Falls, NL, Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009. Interment was at the Anglican Church Cemetery, Bishop's Falls, NL. Funeral arrangements were by Hoskins Funeral Homes, Bishop's Falls. Pallbearers were Alvin Ward, Fred Ward, Dave Mills, Tom Jackson, Brian Fudge and Roy Langdon.

PELLEY, Maureen Dorothy (Dillon) - Apr. 1, 1942 - Aug. 28, 2009 - Passed peacefully away Aug. 28, 2009 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, Maureen Pelley of Bishop's Falls. She was 67 years of age. Predeceased by her son, Paul; parents, Matthew and Mary Dillon; sisters, Kathleen Keasey, Janice Carter, Mary Dominic; brothers, Walter, Carl, Leonard, Charles and Robert; parents-in-law, Lloyd and Emma Pelley; brothers-in-law, Ralph, Bruce, George Woodman, Gordon Cave and Bruce Carter; sister-in-law, Mary Pelley. Left to mourn are husband, Chesley; sons, Neil (Kim), Randy, Darren; daughter, Beverly; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also leaving to mourn sisters, Rita Cave, Nance Woodman, Karen Hong (Jim), Helen Dominic (Steve); brothers, Gerald (Rachael), Dan (Shirley); sisters-in-law, Bernice (Willie) Wiseman, Gloria (Charles) Kennedy, Laura (Howard) Bailey, Joan (Albert) Randell, Clara (Harry) Carew, Chris Gardiner; brothers-in-law, Roy, Everett, Albert (Melida), Fred (Nancy), Doug, Leo Dominic and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Linus Coady conducted funeral services at the Sacred Heart Church, Bishop's Falls, Monday, Aug. 31, 2009. Interment was at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Bishop's Falls. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Homes, Bishop's Falls. Pallbearers were Ev Pelley, Don Pelley, Tony Kennedy, Bill Hong Jr., Tony Bouzane and Gordy Bouzane. Honorary pallbearers were Neil Pelley and Alan Pelley.

THOMAS, May R. (nee Brown) It is with sadness that the families of the late May R. Thomas announce her passing at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, NL, aged 88 years. She is predeceased by her husband, Harold; daughter, Donna and several brothers and sisters. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are daughter, Elva (Bob) Hedges, of Grand Falls Windsor; sons, Terry (Elisabeth) of ON, Don (Judy) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Allan (Karen) of St. John's; son-in-law, Perry Budgell; grandchildren, Darrell, Dawn, Steven, Paul, Lisa, Perry Kristopher, Patti, Ashley, and Gregory; six great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The funeral service took place Wednesday, August 5 from The Salvation Army Citadel, Circular Road, Grand Falls-Windsor, with Majors Terry and Bonnie Hopkins officiating. Interment was at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Union Street, Grand Falls-Windsor. Pallbearers were Bob Hedges, Perry Budgell, Perry Kristopher Budgell, Paul Thomas, Orville Reeves and Wayne Thomas. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 10 Bayley Street, Grand Falls-Windsor. NL.
