BYRNE, Dennis
Passed Away On: 12/04/2011

It is with great sorrow that the family of the late Dennis Samuel Byrne announce his passing after a brief illness on April 12, 2011 in Cambridge, Ont. Dennis was 52. He leaves with fond and cherished memories his wife, Cheryl; daughter, Sara; son, David. Dennis was the eldest son of Samuel and Margaret Byrne formerly of Grand Falls-Windsor who are now residing in Joe Batts Arm, Fogo Island. Dennis also leaves to mourn a large circle of family and friends. Cremation has taken place. A service will be held August in Joe Batts Arm.
Always loved, never forgotten.

CAREY, Gordon

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gordon Joseph Carey announce his passing at the A. M. Guy Memorial Health Centre, Buchans, NL on April 1, 2011 at the age of 96. Gordon was a member of the Knights of Columbus (Bishop March Council # 3315) and retired from ASARCO at the age of 65. Gordon was predeceased by his loving wife, Bride; brothers, John, Patrick, Howard, Allan; sister, Elizabeth; sisters-in-law, Alice (Glavine) Carey, Alice (Croke) Carey; brothers-in-law, Raymond Lannon, Samuel Lannon, Martin Wiseman and Edward Power. Passed away on April 23, 2011, Jim Cater of Grand Falls-Windsor. He was 74 years of age. He was predeceased by parents, Albert & Nellie Cater; wife, Pearl; daughter, Nellie; sisters, Dorothy, Rose, Joan; and brothers, Cyril & Albert. Passed suddenly away on April 3, 2011, at Western Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook, Derek Christopher Forsey of Grand Falls-Windsor. He was 45 years of age. He was predeceased by his mother, Vera Dove (Broderick). He leaves to mourn his wife, Betty John, and son, Jesse Forsey. -Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday, April 1, 2011, Elsie Gerbeau, aged 83 years. She will be sadly missed by a large circle of family and friends. She asked not to be mourned, but to be remembered with fondness and a glass be raised in a toast to a long, full life. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Visitation took place Monday, April 4, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, April 5, 2011 from 10-12 noon and 2-4 p.m. Funeral service was held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. with cremation to follow. Interment will occur at a later date in Mount Patricia Cemetery, Corner Brook. No flowers by request. Donations in Elsie's memory may be made to the Salvation Army Temple, Corner Brook. Passed peacefully away on April 16, 2011 at Carmelite House, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL Alma Blanche Harbin (nee Laite) of Grand Falls-Windsor. She was 83 years of age. Mrs. Harbin retired from the teaching profession in 1978 and was a member of the Retired Teachers' of Newfoundland & Labrador. She was predeceased by husband, Victor, parents, Pastors Ralph & Louise Laite, twin daughters, Rhonda Joy and Rennie Joy and brother, Ralph Laite. Left to mourn are sons, Wayne (Susan), Victor, Derek (Roxanne), Vaughn and Albert; daughters, Charlene (Tim Van Maren) and Joy. Seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. HEALEY, Daniel

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Daniel (Danny) Healey announce his sudden passing on April 18, 2011 in Fort McMurray at the age of 56 years. Danny is predeceased by his father, Patrick Jr. He leaves to mourn Mom (Evelyn); brothers, Bernard (Bernie) Grand Falls-Windsor, David (Joan), Ottawa, Eric (Phyl), Grand Falls-Windsor, Randy, Fort McMurray, Richard (Trudy) Oromocto; sisters, Vera (Joe) Bouzanne, Grand Falls-Windsor, Sandra (Fred Marsden), Corner Brook, and Corrine (Neil) Byrne, Ottawa. He also leaves to mourn 13 nephews, 4 nieces, 3 great-nieces; 2 great-nephews; and a large circle of relatives and friends. For years Danny worked in BC and Ottawa. He then decided it was time to come back home. For the past 6 years Danny lived with his Mom. We all firmly believe that they took care of each other. While he was home he enjoyed, walking, gardening, hockey, darts and crossword puzzles. Then he decided to go back to school and complete Heavy Equipment Operator. At the time of his death he was working and living in Fort McMurray. Danny was very involved with his family especially with his nephews and nieces. He will be greatly missed by all. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Diabetes Society. Funeral services will be held at The Immaculate Conception Church, Grand Falls-Windsor on Thursday April 28, 2011. - It is with sadness that the family of the late Gladys Vera Higdon announces her passing on April 1, 2011 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, aged 85. Gladys is predeceased by her parents, Jim and Eliza Beaton; Grandson, Devin Pelletier; sister, Gertrude Lush; brothers, Gordon Beaton, Roland Beaton, Nelson Beaton, Cornelius Beaton, and Lionel Beaton. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are husband, Harold; children, Linda Higdon, Roger (Ivy ) Higdon, Heather (Paul Wheeler) Higdon; five grandchildren, Bryan, Nancy, Roger, Rory, and Shea; five great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Caleb, Camille, Caitlyn and Chloe; sister, Mary Loder; as well as a number of nieces nephews relatives and friends. IRISH, Gladys

Gladys Evans Irish
passed peacefully away on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 101. She was born in Herring Neck, Newfoundland, on September 7, 1909 and remained a true Newfoundlander all her days. After finishing High School in her little out port community, she took the coastal boat to St. John's where she attended teacher's college in what would become Memorial University of Newfoundland. She then moved to Grand Falls to teach. Just after the war, she met and married Leslie (Rusty) Irish. Shortly after his death in 1977, she moved to Saint John NB. She loved to play the piano and spent a lot of her time playing for the Sunday school at St. George's Anglican Church or whenever we had a party at the house. She also loved bridge, and writing poetry. She loved her great-grandchildren and did not seem to mind, when upon just recently, all seven would swarm around her to help open her Christmas/Birthday gifts. She is survived by her son, Peter (Eileen), three grandchildren: Gerald (Lana), Sean (Lori) of Saint John, NB, Mark (Terri) of Denver, CO., seven great grandchildren: (Katelyn, David, Kyle, William, Jenna, Hunter, Camren) along with a sister-in-law Joan Irish, nieces, nephews and cousins in Moncton, Pickering, Ontario and Newfoundland. She is predeceased by her husband Leslie (Rusty) in 1977. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, New Brunswick, (506-634-7424), with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 2:00 PM from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at a later date in Newfoundland. Mable is predeceased by her husband, Elihu Jennings; parents, Francis and Sedella Milley; great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Paul; brothers, Worick, Winston, Garless and Hollett; sister, Grace. - Passed away April 2, 2011 after a lengthy illness at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Centre, John Joseph Murray of Peterview. He was 68 years of age. Mr. Murray retired from Newfoundland Tractor as a Parts Salesman in 1998. He was predeceased by his parents Martha and Jack Murray. He leaves to mourn his wife Loretta; sons, Anthony (Caroline), Johnny (Leigh) and Corey; five grandchildren, Travis, Tamara, Samantha, Hunter and Tyson.
