Butler, Gordon Phillip (with picture)
Gordon (Gordie) Butler
, age 56, of Labrador City passed away on Monday, Dec. 27th, 2010 at the Health Sciences Centre after a brief illness, with his family at his side. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary, in 2004 and his father, Martin, in 2006. He leaves to mourn his son, Trevor (Tammy), with granddaughter Rachel, and Amanda (John) with granddaughter Rayna, and his sister Doreen (Bill Molloy) of Parrish, Florida. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Gordie moved to Labrador City with his family in September, 1967. Gordie finished his schooling, played hockey, soccer and golf. He was involved with minor hockey, coaching a team for many years. Gord worked with I.O.C.C. for 31 years prior to retirement, then worked for RSM until his passing. Gordie is greatly missed by family, friends and co-workers.
Gordie, may you be at peace now.

Farrar, Ruth Emily (with picture)
1927-2010
It is with sadness that the family of Ruth (Sellars) Farrar formerly of Bell Island, NL announce her passing on June 23, 2010 at the age of 83 years. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 60 years. Jack; sister Jean, sons Russ (Jean) and Les (Dale); grandchildren Jack, Christie and Candace. A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, June 30th, 2010 at 2 PM at the Parish of Christ Church (Anglican) 12116-102 Avenue, Edmonton, AB.

Northcotte, Frederick Ward
Fred Northcotte's family announces with deep sadness his passing on Wednesday, March 17th, 2010. Left to cherish Fred's life are his loving wife and very best friend, Wendy: children Glenn (Lila), Eileen (Gino) and their mother and continued best friend, Barb; stepsons George, Theo and Demitri. Remembered by his siblings Rod (Helen), Emma (Doug), Les (Floss), Jan (Bob), Derrick (Margie) and Marilyn (Jeff) and many loving and special nieces and nephews and most cherished granddaughter, Carlina and countless friends. Fred was predeceased by his mother, Rosie, father Ken, son Stacey and his sister Dorothy. Fred was born in Coppett, NL, July 16, 1938. He will be remembered and carried in the hearts of his family and friends in countless ways. He excelled in his trade as a welder, retiring from GM in 2001. A member of the Royal Canadian Legion and lifetime member of the Port Dalhousie Yacht Club. He founded the Bay Boy Band playing traditional jigs and reels on his accordion with a joke between tunes to the delight of Maritimers and Newfie wanna bes alike. The family expresses thanks to all the caregivers who provided guidance, support and tended to his needs. Cremation has taken place.

Parsons, Walter
Peacefully on Wednesday, October 13th, 2010 at age 76 years. Beloved husband of Maude. Loving father of Donna (Danny), Jim (Lucy), Cathy (Clarence), Danny (Sindy) and the late Dean. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Mae and Annie. A Funeral Service was held at the Demarco Funeral Home. "Keele Chapel", 3725 Keele Street, Toronto, Ontario on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 10 am., followed by interment at Beechwood Cemetery.

PITMAN, Mercedes Catherine (nee McCarthy) (with picture) R.N.
Passed away peacefully on Thursday December 2nd, 2010, at the Bennett Health Care Centre, Georgetown, Ontario, with her family at her side in her 98th year. Mercedes Pitman, born September 8th, 1913 at Allan's Island, Newfoundland, beloved wife of the late Cyril (1993). Loving mother of Cyril (Susan), Molly (Phillip Jestin), Brian, Susie Partridge, Cathy Smith, Elizabeth (Douglas Bagnell) and the late Billy (Ann-Marie). Devoted grandmother of Neil (Lee Ann), Jeff (Courtney), Suzanne, Max, Emily, Owen, Molly and Helen and great grandmother of Sadie Grace. Survived by brother Dolph McCarthy. Mac, as her close friends knew her, will be missed by friends and her extensive family throughout Ontario and Newfoundland. Funeral Services were held on Monday, December 6th, 2010 at 11 o'clock in Wasaga Beach, Ontario. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery.
