Spaniard's Bay, April 24 -
Gosse & Ford - Wedding Bells
The marriage of Evelyn, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Gosse of Spaniard's Bay, to Rance, son of Mr. Albert Ford and the late Mrs. Ford, Amherst Cove, was solemnized in St. Mathew's Anglican Church, Toronto, on December 17, 1955, by the rector of the church, the Rev. R. K. Purdue.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her brother, Norman, wore a full-length strapless gown of double layer nylon net over shimmering white satin. A panel of nylon and rayon lace adorned with delicate scroll work of sequins and rhinestones extended from the waist to the hem, matching in texture was a fitted jacket which had a mandarin collar and long tapered sleeves. Her floor-length veil was of nylon illusion trimmed with nylon lace and held in place by a princess-style tiara of sparkling sequins and simulated mother of pearl. Her bouquet consisted of pink roses.
Her only attendant was her sister-in-law, Mrs. Norman Gosse, as matron of honour, and she was attired in a floor-length strapless gown of nylon lace over taffeta with bodice of lace, elbow-length gloves, and a headdress of flowers. Her bouquet was of pink carnations and maidenhair fern.
Petite Miss Norma Gosse, niece of the bride, was flower girl, and she was beautifully dressed in floor-length blue taffeta with floral headdress, and carried a basket of multi-coloured flowers.
The groom was supported by his brother, James, and the ushers were Mr. Lawrence Gosse and Mr. Tobias Brown.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at Baron Bying Home, 243 Coxwell Avenue, Toronto, where the bride's table was tastefully decorated with flowers and centered with a three-tier wedding cake.
The toast to the bride was proposed by Mr. John Greeley, and this was responded to by the groom who then proposed the toast to the bride's attendant. The best man responded, and then read several congratulatory messages from out of town friends.
The groom's gift to the bride was a lovely rhinestone necklace with matching earrings and bracelet, and to the best man and ushers identical gifts of gold tie clasps and cuff links. The bride's gift to the groom was a gold initialed tie clasp with matching cuff links; to the matron of honour, a three strand pearl necklace with matching earrings, and to the flower girl, one strand pearl necklace with matching bracelet.
The honeymoon was spent at Spaniard's Bay and Amherst Cove after which the bride and groom returned to Toronto and took up residence at 210 Springdale Boulevarde. They plan to make their home at Toronto.
