Passed peacefully away at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends on Friday, September 21, 2012, Madeline Fitzgerald of Western Bay, age 80 years. Predeceased by husband: Patrick in June 2001; parents: John and Irene Murphy; parents-in-law: Thomas and Gertrude Fitzgerald; sisters: Bernice Hart, Mary Abbott, Bride Barrow and infant Pauline; brothers: infant Jackie, Tom, Anthony and Jack. Left to mourn, Madeline and Patrick's children, daughters: Patricia (Noel) Murphy, Western Bay, Pauline Fitzgerald (Gary Noftle), Broad Cove, Anna (Keith) Jenkins, Bernadette (Rick) Preston and son: John P. (Roxanne), all of Western Bay; grandchildren: Jamie (Marie Lynn) Fitzgerald, Jason Jenkins (Jennifer King), Erin Fitzgerald (Conrad Clarke), Paul (Robin) Murphy, Brian Jenkins, Robyn Fitzgerald (Geoffrey Broderick), Amanda and Mitchell Preston; great-grandchildren: Gavin and Owen Fitzgerald and Cailey Broderick; Madeline's daughter, Geraldine (Claude Bourque), Ontario and children: Michael Ebbs (Ana) and Tara (Brad) Love and grandchildren: Logan, Alyssa, Riley and Cooper; Madeline's sisters: Irene ( Bill) Laughlin, Margaret (John) Rivard, both of Ontario and Catherine (Joe) Maloney, Grand Falls-Windsor; brothers: Bill (Pauline) and Ted (Clara), both of Grand Falls-Windsor and Dennis (Blenda), Rainbow Lake, Alberta; brother-in-law: John (Mary, Madeline's special friend) Fitzgerald, Western Bay, Wilson Abbott, Ontario and Silas Barrow, Grand Falls-Windsor; sister-in-law: Joan Murphy, Ontario; nieces and nephews; special friends: Carol and Jr. Flemming, Mount Pearl, Bill and Monica O'Rielly and Clarice Crowley, all of Western Bay; also a large number of other relatives and friends. HYDE, Clara Margaret

Passed peacefully away at the Interfaith Long Term Care Home, Carbonear on Sunday, Sept 2, 2012, Clara Hyde of Red Head Cove, age 87 years. Predeceased by Parents, John and Marcella Hatch and Brothers Ronald and Lawrence. Left to mourn beloved husband of 64 years, Bernard. Two sons, Douglas (Rose), Hayward (Roseann), one Daughter Hazel (Ron) North. Six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Two sisters Marcella Quinlan and Theresa Pelletier, two sisters-in-law Margaret and Josephine Hatch. A large number of nieces, nephews and friends. Rested at Hopkins Funeral Home, Old Perlican. Funeral service took place on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at the Church of the Assumption, Bay de Verde. Donations in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Society.

KENNEDY, Mary Ann

Passed peacefully away at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear on Thursday, September 13, 2012, Mary Ann Kennedy of Western Bay, age 86 years. Predeceased by husband: Angus; father: Jabez; mother: Mary Ann; step-mother: Florence; sisters: Melina, Beatrice and Effie; half-sister: Jean; half-brother: Edward. Left to mourn, son: Fred (Linda), Western Bay; two grandsons: Barry (Angie) and Jason (Yvonne); four great-grandchildren: Hailey, Jaden, Cody and Lucas; sister: Hattie Milley, Luxury Estates, Carbonear; half-sisters: Mildred (Boyd) Wheadon and Florence (Morley) Button, both of Western Bay; half-brothers: Kenneth (Hilda) Sellars, Old Perlican and Joseph (Leona) Sellars, Western Bay; sister-in-law: Allison Temple, Long Cove; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Passed away at the Lion's Manor, Placentia on Sunday, September 16, 2012, Elva Mae Locklin who moved to Carbonear in 1966; formerly of Ontario, age 94 years. Leaving to mourn, friends: Diz Dichmont, Aubrey and Pat Dawe, Betty and Elizabeth Hall; also a large number of treasured friends. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, September 26 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the conference room at the Interfaith Citizens Home, 41 Water Street, Carbonear. Caroline L. Mercer
- Passed away on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, shortly after admission to Carbonear General Hospital, in the presence of her children, sister, & son-in-law. Carrie was predeceased by her husband Chesley R;infant daughter Cynthia Grace; parents John & Delilah Bell; sisters Violet & Clara Bell; Alfreda Jewer, & Tena (Hollis-dec) Etheridge. She leaves with much love & precious memories son Bob (Marie) Mercer; daughters Linda Mercer (Tony Smith) & Laura Saunders; three cherished grandsons Robert Mercer, Jamison (Kate) Mercer, & Aaron Saunders; sister Pearl (James- dec) Buckle; brothers Herbert (Judy) Bell & Theodore (Ivy) Bell; brother-in-law Harry Jewer; sister-in-law Evelyn Mercer, many special nieces, nephews, family members & friends as well as her devoted cats, Candy & Catie. A beautiful celebration of her life & interment took place at Central United Church, Bay Roberts on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012. Left to celebrate his life and cherish his memory is his wife: Winnie; devoted children: Olga (Selby) Milley, Western Bay, Loretta (Arthur) Oates, Carbonear, Allan 'Junior' (Maureen), Burnt Point, Valerie (Weldon) Peddle, Mount Pearl, Cynthia Oliver, Burnt Point, Barry (Linda) and Cheryl (Todd) Morgan, both of St. John's; fourteen cherished grandchildren and eight treasured great-grandchildren; also a large number of other relatives and friends.
