Nellie Babcock of Orillia formerly of Bay Roberts, Newfoundland, beloved wife of the late Robert Babcock, dear mother of Robert (Shelly). Born in Islington, NFLD, he was a son of the late Edward and Mabel (Peddle) Branton. Leonard immigrated to Canada in 1946 from Newfoundland, coming to Halifax to work as a Stevedore on the waterfront. He later went to work as a carpenter until his retirement. He loved his work and took great pride in it. He was a member of the Carpenters Union for 61 years and 10 months. Leonard was a man of great faith, who enjoyed dancing to his Newfoundland music. He will always be remembered as a loving father and grandfather, brother and uncle. He is survived by son, George (Linda) Branton, PEI; daughter, Emma Branton (John Cusick), Halifax; grandchildren, Tina MacDonald, Steven Branton and Sarah MacKenzie; great-grandchild, Cody Dixon; companion Mabel Hollett; brother, Harrison, Ontario; sister, Lillian, Ontario. He was predeceased by his wife, Sarah Jane (Legge); brothers, Roland, Charlie, Bob and Norman.
