FILLIER, Marjorie - Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on Friday, September 7, 2007, of North River, aged 70 years. Predeceased by parents: James and Clara Snow (nee Efford); husband Arthur Fillier; sisters: Anita Parsons and Evelyn Dawe. Leaving to mourn: sons: Arthur (Gail), Walter; daughters: Sandra (Reg) Snow, Marge, Cherie (Scott) Wilhelm, Juanita (Patrick) Mackey; sister: Dorothy Efford (Frank Hickey); brothers: Ralph (Florence) Snow, John (Mary) Snow, Malcolm (Loretta) Snow, Jim (Ann Marie) Snow; brothers-in-law: Gordon Parsons, Arthur Dawe; seven grandchildren: Neil (Tracy), Adam, Megan, Brendan, Jerred, Erin and Emily; two great grandchildren: Jack and James; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Amanda Taylor conducted the funeral service at St. George's Anglican Church and Cemetery, North River on Tuesday, September 11, 2007. Funeral arrangements were by Moore's Funeral Home, Clarke's Beach. Pallbearers were Perry Boone, Clayton Boone, Dwight Snow, Patrick Mackey; Randy Dobbin and Gerald Snow.

KELLY, James - Passed peacefully away at his home in Grates Cove, on Saturday, September 15, 2007, James Kelly; aged 84 years. Predeceased by his parents: Mae and Michael; brother, Dennis and sisters: Mary Anna Power and Charolette Archumbault. Left to mourn, his loving and devoted wife Mary; brothers: John Joe (Angela), St. John's, Phil (Laura), Oshawa, ON, Edmund (Mary), Red Head Cove and sister Nellie Purchase, Brighton, ON. He will be sadly missed by his sons: Paul (Joan), Mike (Tammy), both of Old Perlican; Chris (Sharon), Brian (Sonya) both of Grates Cove; and loving daughter, Margaret Squires (Rick) of Old Perlican. His warm and loving nature will also be greatly missed by his five granddaughters: Tessa, Megan, Nadine, Melani and MaKayla and six grandsons: Curtis, Joseph, Michael, Jamie, Aaron and Riley; and a large number of nieces, nephews and friends. Father Joseph Kelly and Fr. Mike Barker conducted the funeral service on Monday, September 17 at St. Joseph's Church in Grates Cove and R. C. Cemetery in Grates Cove, Trinity Bay.

MERCER, Paul - Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital, on September 18, 2007, Mr. Paul Mercer of Spaniard's Bay; aged 50 years. Predeceased by sister: Shirley Mercer; parents: Samual and Polly Chard; nephew: Clinton Chard; father-in-law: George G. Lynch. Left with fond and loving memories, his wife Marjorie of 30 years; sons: Paul (Angela) of Upper Island Cove, Adam of St. John's; sisters: Kay Clemments of St. John's, Agnes Bees and Patsy Chard both of Ontario, Kathleen Snow of North River, NL; brothers: Bernard Chard of Country Road, NL, Billy Burke of St. John's and grandchild Dylan; as well as a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Young's Funeral Home, Spaniard's Bay; Funeral Service took place Saturday, September 22 at Holy Redeemer Anglican Church, Spaniard's Bay with interment to follow at Maul Tree Hill Anglican Cemetery, Spaniard's Bay. In his memory flowers were accepted or donations may be made to the Family Fund in his memory.

MOORES, Vera Alice - (War Bride, formerly of England) Passed away suddenly but peacefully at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's on Friday, August 17, 2007, Vera Alice Moores of Carbonear, age 87 years. Predeceased by husband: William; parents: Joseph and Ada Brown; sister: Audrey Brown. left to mourn with cherished memories sons: Richard (Bernadette), Mount Pearl, David (Susan), Australia and Charles (Melvina), Mount Pearl; daughter: Sandra (Robert) Matthews, Botswana; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed by all. A proud English Lady who made Newfoundland her home. Rev. Stephen Matthews conducted the funeral service on Wednesday, August 22 at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear. Interment took place in Bethany United Cemetery, Carbonear. RIGGS, Bridget - Passed peacefully away at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear on Friday, September 7, 2007, Bridget Riggs of Bay de Verde, age 80 years. Predeceased by parents: Andrew and Margaret Riggs: brothers: Cyril and Daniel Riggs. Left to mourn brother: Thomas (Charlotte) Riggs, Bay de Verde; sister: Alice Walsh, Bay de Verde; also a number of nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends. Fr. Michael Barker conducted the funeral Mass on Monday, September 10 at Assumption Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery, Bay de Verde. Sheppard of Harbour Grace South, age 62 years. Predeceased by parents: Luke and Nellie; brother: Gordon; father-in-law: Robert and brother-in-law: Harvey. Left to mourn, wife: Elizabeth; one daughter: Carolyn (Sean) Hearn, Bristol's Hope; one son: Gregory (Marlene), Harbour Grace; four grandchildren: Brayden, Bradley, Helena and Alyssa; mother-in-law: Maud Peddle, Harbour Grace South; two sisters: Ruth Mercer, Upper Island Cove and Freda (Raymond) Mercer, Harbour Grace; sister-in-law: Rita Sheppard, Upper Island Cove; brothers-in-law: Sidney (Beverly) Peddle, Harbour Grace South and David (Patricia) Peddle, Burin; special friends: Thelma and Lloyd Newman, Harbour Grace; also a large number of other relatives and friends. SMITH, Mr. Rhodie H. - Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on September 30, 2007, Mr. Rhodie H. Smith of Bishop's Cove, aged 85 years. Predeceased by wife: Mary; daughter: Flora; son: Rhodie. Left with fond and loving memories, his son: Cyril (Jean) Smith of Bishop's Cove; daughters: Blanche (Ron) Robicheau of Nova Scotia and Joan (Clayton) Stone of Ontario; daughter-in-law: Sherry Smith of Bishop's Cove; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; special friends: Winston and Lena Smith; as well as a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Young's Funeral Home, Spaniard's Bay. Funeral service took place Wednesday, October 3 at St. John The Evangelist Anglican Church and Cemetery, Bishop's Cove. In his memory flowers were accepted and donations may be made to the St. John The Evangelist Anglican Church in his memory.
