Passed peacefully away at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear on Thursday, October 31, 2013, Myrtle L. Burden of Broad Cove, age 94 years. Predeceased by husband: George; infant grandson: Mark; parents: Phillip and Elizabeth White; brother: Doyle White; step-sister: Beatrice Oxford. Left to mourn, daughter: Laura (Harold) Slade, Salmon Cove; five sons: Maxwell (Violet) White, Change Islands, Nelson (Mary), Salmon Cove, Robert (Daisy), Innisfil, ON, Melvin (Elaine) and Bruce (Debbie), both of St. John's; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Ruth Burden and Leona Huggett, both of Ontario; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Rested at Noel's Funeral Home, Main Highway, Western Bay. Rev. Glenn Jarvis conducted the funeral service on Sunday, November 3 from Ocean View United Church, Broad Cove. Interment took place in the United Cemetery, Broad Cove. Donations in her memory may be made to Daffodil Place, St. John's or the United Cemetery, Broad Cove. COISH, Caroline

Passed peacefully away at the Dr. A. A. Wilkinson Memorial Health Centre on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, Caroline Coish of Bay de Verde aged 93 years. Predeceased by her husband, Mark (2000). Leaving to mourn, daughter, Esther (Glen) Noonan; sons:Chess (Barb) and Clayton (Maggie); grandchildren: Melanie, Kenny, Ashley, Jeffery, April, Lisa, Randy, Paul and their families. Also leaving to mourn a large circle of family and friends and one very special life long friend, Olga Blundon. Funeral service took place on Thursday, October 31, 2013 from St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Bay de Verde. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Bay de Verde. As an expression of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in Caroline's memory to a charity of one's choice.

FOOTE, Ada L.

Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, after a short illness our beautiful mother, Ada L. Foote. She was 74 years old. Leaving to mourn with happy loving memories: daughter Brenda (Barry), sons: Keith (Faye) and Jason (Alyson), grandchildren: Jennifer, Alyson, Laura, Cecile, Benjamin, Megan and Matthew, brothers and sisters: Reuben (Jane) Somers, Bernice Dean, Avis Stacey, Doris (Bob) Mackey, Art (Jessie) Somers, Jerry (Shirley) Somers, Alvin Somers and the Foote family. Predeceased by: husband Bruce, parents Abe and Harriet Somers, brothers: Gordon, Ralph and Lloyd. The family would like to thank Dr. Bob Farrell, nurses, and staff of Carbonear Hospital for their kindness and compassion. The family shared memories and celebrated her life with a memorial service that took place at Slade's Funeral Home, Carbonear on Saturday, October 12, 2013, inurnment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery, Carbonear. The family received relatives and friends at Slade's Funeral Home, Powell Drive, Carbonear. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Angel Fund. HEWSON, Hannah

Passed away on October 12, 2013, at the Pentecostal Senior Citizen's Home at Clarke's Beach, in her 96th year. Hannah was born in Gunzenhausen, Germany on May 16, 1918 to Dr.Josef and Lily Wolff. She married the late Warrant Officer Charles John Hewson and served with distinction in the the British Army during World War II, being decorated four times. Her family immigrated to Canada in 1957 and lived in Kitimat, British Columbia. Hannah was a children's nurse before the war and taught special-needs children in Kitimat. She retired to Victoria, BC and subsequently resided in Aylmer, Quebec and Carbonear Luxury Estates and the Bay Roberts Retirement Centre. Hannah was an avid reader and bridge player and a keen follower of current events. She enjoyed volunteer activities and liked meeting interesting people. She travelled extensively as late as her ninetieth year. Hannah is survived by her sons Michael (Donna Doyle) residing in Bay Roberts and John (the late Peggy Spencer) residing in Burnaby BC. She will be missed by the Stewarts (her Ontario family) and by the Groves families in the UK. Also left to celebrate her life are her Newfoundland families, the Doyles and the LeShanes, and family and friends worldwide. In accordance with Hannah's wishes, cremation has taken place and her ashes will be scattered at sea.

LEWIS, Patricia M.

Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Monday, October 7, 2013, Patricia M. Lewis of Harbour Grace, age 76 years. Predeceased by husband: Walter; son: Donny; daughter: Lorraine; brothers: Don and Bill. Left to mourn, five daughters: Rosland Squibb, Harbour Grace, Agnes (George) Lynch, Upper Island Cove, Patsy Lewis (Scott Trickett), Harbour Grace, Sandy Lewis ( Evelyn Lewis), St. John's and Karen Burkhard (George), North Carolina, USA; two sons: Ben (Maria), Carbonear and Walter, Harbour Grace; special grandson: Jason (Jody) and also a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Rosalyn Lewis, St. John's; one brother: Kevin (Doris) Bursey, Harbour Grace; three sisters: Peggy (Wallace) Pike, Harbour Grace, Molly (Gerald) Tremblett, Bell Island and Lois (Wayne) Martin, Harbour Grace; also a number of other relatives and friends. Rested at Noel's Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace. Fr. Michael Barker conducted the Funeral Mass on Wednesday, October 9 from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Riverhead, Harbour Grace. Interment took place in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Harbour Grace. Donations in her memory may be made to the Parkinson Society of NL. Passed peacefully away in hospital in Toronto on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, Margaret Rose Russell (formerly of Coley's Point) aged 74 years. Predeceased by her parents William and Susie Russell, Brothers and Sister-in Laws: Isaac (Irene), Arthur (Gertrude), Eric and Reginald. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories Sister: Barbara (Russ) Parsons, Scarborough, Ontario; Brothers: Cecil (Marcie) Russell and Kenneth (Doreen) Russell, Bay Roberts, sister-in-law Margaret Russell, nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
