Cyril Budden
- Surrounded by his family, passed away peacefully at Grace Villa Nursing Home in Hamilton on Monday November 25th at the age of 73. Beloved husband of Phyllis for 51 years. Loving father of Barb Myke (Tim), Brenda Budden (Richard), and Sandra Capriotti (Joe). Cherished grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Survived by brothers Doug Budden(Marilyn) of Muskoka and Wendell Budden (Jean) of Newfoundland. Predeceased by his parents William and Mildred Budden and Brother Lloyd (Joan) Budden of Newfoundland. Cy was an employee of Stelco Steel Hilton Works for 32 years. He was an avid Maple Leafs fan, musician and lived for his family. A warm thank you to the nursing and support staff at Grace Villa for their care, comfort and support. Visitation was held at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home on Wednesday November 27, 2013 from 7-9 PM. A private family burial will follow at a later date at St. John's Anglican Church in Ancaster. In lieu of flowers, donation to the Canadian Parkinsons Society would be appreciated by the family.

Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, Nina Butt of Broad Cove, age 78 years. Predeceased by husband: John 'Jack'; son: David; granddaughters: Lisa Butt and Megan Butt; parents: George and Ollie Swain; parents-in-law: Moses and Beatrice Butt. Left to mourn, daughter: Dorothy (Matthew) Slade, Broad Cove; three sons: Gerald (Winnie), Darryl (Linda) and Roger, all of Broad Cove; three grandchildren: Kevin (Paulette) Butt, Paul Butt and Jessica (Blair) Keats; two great-granddaughters: Kylie Butt and Paige Keats; nephews: Garry (Margie) Knight and Glenn (Diane) Knight and families; special friend: Sophie Flight; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Rested at Noel's Funeral Home, Main Highway, Western Bay. Rev. Glenn Jarvis conducted the funeral service on Thursday, November 7 from Ocean View United Church, Broad Cove. Passed peacefully away in the arms of her children at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear on Sunday, November 24, 2013, Julia Margaret Oates of Carbonear, age 93 years. Predeceased by husband: Maxwell; parents: Joseph and Eliza Clarke; sisters: Martha, Jannet, Clarice, Elizabeth and Nellie; brother: Hubert Clarke; granddaughter: Wanda Michelle. Left to mourn, six daughters: Marina (Herman) Harris, Harbour Grace, Genevieve (Baden) Hiscock, Carbonear, Beulah (Raymond) Fitzgerald, St. John's, Yvonne Barnes, Mount Pearl, Sandra (Randell) Mercer, Gander and Ruth (Wayne) O'Brien, Conception Bay South; seven sons: Max (Christine), New Brunswick, Hubert (Beverley), Harbour Grace, Clarence (Judy), P.E.I., Eric (Marilyn), Bay Roberts, Barry (Elizabeth), St. John's, Terry (Allison), Nova Scotia and Craig (Bruce), Carbonear; special sister-in-law: Lillian Clarke, Victoria; twenty-nine grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away at the Interfaith Nursing Home, Carbonear, on Thursday Nov. 21, 2013, Mrs. Mildred Smith of Spaniard's Bay age 83 years. Predeceased by husband William Edward. Leaving to mourn son William (Donna), 2 grandchildren: Lisa and Keith, 2 step-grandchildren Joanne and Karol-Ann, 2 great-grandchildren Anjali and Jessica, step-great-grandchild Jane, sister Dulcie Peddle, Orillia, Ontario and a large circle of nieces , nephews, other relatives and friends. Rested at Lynch's Funeral Home, Spaniard's Bay. Service was held at Holy Redeemer Anglican Church, Spaniard's Bay on Nov 23, 2013. Interment followed at Green Head Anglican cemetery. THOMEY, John

Born: March 20th, 1931

It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of John Thomey on November 10, 2013. He was born on March 20, 1931 in Harbour Grace. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. John joined the navy at 17 years of age and later was employed at Ocean Harvesters in Harbour Grace as Chief Engineer for 40 years. His passions in life were his family, his community and a great love for hockey. He played defense in jersey #3 for the Cee Bees seniors hockey league, bringing home the Herder Cup several times. He also loved to fish and playing cards was a favorite past time for him and Lilly. John had a wonderful sense of humor and was loved by all that were blessed enough to know him. He will be forever in our hearts and never forgotten. Predeceased by infant son: John Brendan, parents: Arthur and Mary, sisters: Camilla, Mary and Joan, brothers: Mike, Jim and Mark. Left to mourn, wife: Lillian; two daughters: Joan Thomey, St. John's and Jackie (Chris) Puddister, Halifax, NS; two sons: Paul (Darlene) and John (April), both of Harbour Grace; six grandchildren: Matthew and Megan Thomey, Jason and Stephanie Puddister, Becky and Emma Thomey; two brothers: Brendan (Helen), Harbour Grace and Ron (Bridget), Calgary, AB; members of the Newman Family; as well as a large number of other relatives and friends.
