Left to mourn, six daughters: Melvina King and Zena (Augustus) Slade, both of Victoria, Ina (Raymond) Minna, Brantford, ON, Mary (David) Carpenter, Harbour Grace, Pauline (Hector) King, Perry's Cove and Paulette (Randy) Worthman, Heart's Delight; three sons: Lional (Emma), Carbonear, Lloyd (Rosemary) and Bertrum, both of Victoria; fifteen grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; one brother: Warren (Isabell) Rose, Baie Verte; four sisters: Marie Thomas, Phyllis (Lloyd) Ivany, Bernice (Richard) and Daphne Crummey, all of ON; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and other relatives and friends. Predeceased by parents: Jabez and Pamiela; brother: William Hayward. Leaving to mourn, wife: Audrey; one daughter: Brenda (Dean) Brookings, Edmonton, AB; one son: Sheldon J. DAWE, Emmie (October 16, 1920 - November 21, 2009) - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on November 21, 2009, Emmie (Reid) Dawe of Port de Grave. Predeceased by husband: Samuel Dawe; parents: Eli and Marion Reid; sisters: Minnie Petten and Elsie Reid; brothers: George and Warren Reid; and special nephew Walter Dawe. Leaving to celebrate a life well lived and devoted to service to family, church and community are daughters: Vera (Richard) French, Audrey (Terry) Burke and Elsie (Kevin) Yetman. Also very dear to her heart were her grandchildren: Barbara (Derek) Stone, Brenda French (Jason Dawe), Joanne (John) Efford, Sheldon (Brenda) Yetman, Jeremy (Jennifer) Yetman, Adam Burke (Natasha Kirby), Joel Burke, Lesley Burke (Michael Roberts), as well as great-grandchildren: Aaron and Holly Stone, Jenna and John Efford IV; Emma Yetman and Avery Yetman; nephew: Bert Reid and her sister Minnie's children and grandchildren. Emmie's family circle encompassed the extended Dawe family she married into, especially Walter, Pearl, Bill and Sam, Bob, Margaret, Peter and Paul as well as her late husbands cousins. Emmie's approach to life was practical and efficient and she overcame many obstacles without complaint. Her church and community service included membership in Orange Lilly lodge # 444, Grand Crystal Chapter # 43, St. Luke's ACW, the Altar Guild and lifelong, faithful membership in St. Luke's Anglican church. DROVER, Edith - Passed peacefully away at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear on Monday, November 30, 2009, Edith Drover of Upper Island Cove, aged 87. Predeceased by husband: George; daughter: Rowena; grandson: Michael; parents Azariah and Flora Coombs; brothers: Tom, Will and Joe Coombs; sisters: Deliah Clarke, Susie Coombs, Mary and Elizabeth Coombs. ROBINSON, Mrs. Valerie Linda (nee Mercer): Passed peacefully away at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB November 17, 2009, Mrs. Valerie Unda Robinson (nee Mercer), wife of Mr. George R. Robinson of Canal, NB. Born at Spaniards Bay, NL on October 31,1956, she was a daughter of the late Nathaniel and Hettie M. (Noseworthy) Mercer. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husbahd George, she is survived by two daughters: Jennifer Robinson, Dartmouth, NS and Joanne (Dean) Nicholle, Canal, NB; two grandchildren: Kaydence and Kieran; brothers: Melvin' (Marjorie) Mercer and Lincoln (Millicent) Mercer, both of Spaniard's Bay, NL; one sister: Frances (Gary) Caines, Comer Brook, NL; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Valerie was a lady of simple pleasures, who briefly worked at GMG Nets until her illness. She loved knitting, needle point and being on her computer. She enjoyed going for drives in the fall especially to see the changing of the leaves. Valerie loved to spend her free time with her family and friends who will miss her dearly. Rested at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, St. George, NB from where the service was held at The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel Friday, Nov. 20 with Rev. Mary Anne Langmaid officiating. A service of rememberance will be held at Holy Redeemer Anglican Church, Spaniards Bay, NL followed by interment at the church cemetery, at a time to be announced.
