DAWE, Emmie (October 16, 1920 - November 21, 2009) - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on November 21, 2009, Emmie (Reid) Dawe of Port de Grave. Predeceased by husband: Samuel Dawe; parents: Eli and Marion Reid; sisters: Minnie Petten and Elsie Reid; brothers: George and Warren Reid; and special nephew Walter Dawe. Leaving to celebrate a life well lived and devoted to service to family, church and community are daughters: Vera (Richard) French, Audrey (Terry) Burke and Elsie (Kevin) Yetman. Emmie's approach to life was practical and efficient and she overcame many obstacles without complaint. Robinson of Canal, NB. Born at Spaniards Bay, NL on October 31,1956, she was a daughter of the late Nathaniel and Hettie M. (Noseworthy) Mercer. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husbahd George, she is survived by two daughters: Jennifer Robinson, Dartmouth, NS and Joanne (Dean) Nicholle, Canal, NB; two grandchildren: Kaydence and Kieran; brothers: Melvin' (Marjorie) Mercer and Lincoln (Millicent) Mercer, both of Spaniard's Bay, NL; one sister: Frances (Gary) Caines, Comer Brook, NL; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Valerie was a lady of simple pleasures, who briefly worked at GMG Nets until her illness. She loved knitting, needle point and being on her computer. She enjoyed going for drives in the fall especially to see the changing of the leaves. Valerie loved to spend her free time with her family and friends who will miss her dearly.
