BURDEN, Leonard D. - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Thursday, November 15, 2007, Leonard D. Burden of Carbonear, age 85 years. Predeceased by sisters: Edna, Eva, Leana, Florence, Annie and Jean. Left to mourn, wife: Myrtle; two daughters: Vivian Burden, Carbonear and Peggy Burden, Toronto; ON; three sons: David (Nellie),Victoria, Leonard (Maxine), Harbour Grace and Jerry (Yvonne), Carbonear; eight grandchildren: Kenneth (Christina), Clark (Tina), Keith (Melanie), Peter (Sue), Scott, Glenn (Cindy), Penny and Robert; nine great-grandchildren: Hailey, Noah, Charles, Emily, MacKenzie, Tyler, Faith, Hannah and Olivia; sister-in-law: Herb (Kay) King, NS; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Pastor George Rideout conducted the funeral service on Sunday, November 18 at Calvary Pentecostal Church and Cemetery, Carbonear. DWYER, Cecilia M. - Of Carbonear, passed peacefully at the Carbonear General Hospital, Carbonear on Monday, November 12, 2007. Mrs. Dwyer was in her 69th year. Predeceased by: husband: Terrance Dwyer; parents: William and Theresa White; brother Fred (Mary) White. She leaves to mourn her loving family; daughter: Charmaine (Patrick) Kavanagh, Carbonear; brothers: Peter(Leona) White, James (Donna) White, and Gregory (Audrey Rockwood) White, all of Carbonear; sister: Madeline (Dennis) Kavanagh, Lindsey, ON and Kathleen (Clem) Haley, Bristol's Hope. The Funeral Mass took place at St. Patrick's R. C. Church and Cemetery, Carbonear on Thursday, November 15. As an expressions of sympathy donations may be made in her memory to the Cecilia Dwyer Memorial Fund. GRIFFIN, Karen Howell - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's on Friday, November 2, 2007, Karen Howell Griffin of Carbonear, age 53 years. Predeceased by parents: Fredrick and Rosalie Howell; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Leo and Mary Griffin; grandparents: Cecil and Winnifred King; Brettle Howell and Violet Powell. Left to mourn, husband: Donald; daughter: Michelle, Carbonear; son: Sheldon (Kendell), Carbonear; granddaughter: Emma; grandson: Landon; two sisters: Peggy (Wayne) Rose, Harbour Grace and Shirley (Paul) Butt, Carbonear; four brothers: Fred (Sharon) Howell, Victoria, Ronald (Pauline) Howell, Shearstown, Don Howell, BC and Terry (Bobbie) Howell, Carbonear; three sisters-in-law: Margaret (Art) Penney, Salmon Cove, Marie (Wayne) Sutton and Debbie (Clyde) Sutton, both of Victoria; four brothers-in-law: Leo (Brenda) Griffin, Labrador City, Loyola (Shirley) Griffin, Halifax, NS, Paul (Muriel) Griffin, Tilton and Ken (Karen) Griffin, Carbonear; also a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. PARSONS, Jacob (Gade) - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on November 6, 2007 in the presence of his family, Jacob (Gade) Parsons, age 89 years of Bryant's Cove. Leaving to mourn, his wife of 55 years, Bridget; four sons: Lawerence, Kiatchener, ON, Wayne (Malanie), Roaches Line, Herb, Alberta, James, St. John's; six daughters: Daphne (Kevin) McCarthy, St. John's, Julie (Gerald) Smith, Bryant's Cove, Shirley (Sandy) Parsons, Alberta, Gloria (Ray) Butler, Carmenville, Sus (Terry) Sheppard, Harbour Grace, Phyllis (Derick) Piercey, Harbour Grace, Joan Parsons, Harbour Grace; sister Maisie Heale, ON: 22 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a large circle of family and friends. Interment at the Anglican Cemetery in Bryant's Cove.

PARSONS, Ralph - Passed suddenly away at his residence on Friday, November 2, 2007, Ralph Parsons of Victoria, age 74 years. Predeceased by parents: Arthur and Lily; daughter: Donna Lynn, 1966; sisters: Joyce, Irene, Donna Cumby and Julie (Ashmore) Cole. Left to mourn, wife: Lillian; one daughter: Renee (Gerald) Clarke, Victoria; one son: Arthur Ralph, St. John's; two precious granddaughters: Christina and Melissa; one sister: Muriel (Fred) Baldwin, Victoria; brothers-in-law: Albert Cumby; Heart's Content, Chester Noel and Kevin (Marilyn) Noel, both of Freshwater, Carbonear; uncle: Herbert (Meta) Slade, Salmon Cove; also a large number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Rev. Jesse Bown conducted the funeral service on Monday, November 5 at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear. Interment was in the United Church Cemetery, Victoria. ROBERTS, Doyle Clayton - Originally of Grand Falls, passed peacefully away, November 13, age 77. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Joyce; and precious daughter, Kathryn. Leaving to forever cherish his life with them are daughters, Carol (John) and Nancy (Shane); son, Michael (Alana); sisters, Bernice (Gerald) and Barbara (Calvin); sisters-in-law, Shirley and Marie; and grandchildren, Kerstin, Heidi, John, Benjamin, Hayley, Zackary, Jennifer and Jacob who loved their "Gramps" beyond all earthly measure. The family would like to thank all friends, especially Kirby and Pastor Murley, and Dr. St. Croix and all staff of the Gander Cancer Clinic for their kindness and support. Visitation took place from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, November 18 at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Funeral service was held 2:00 p.m. Monday at Carnell's Chapel. SMITH, Mrs. Mabel- Passed away at Carbonear General Hospital on November 10, 2007, Mrs. Mabel Smith of Spaniard's Bay; aged 73 years. Predeceased by husband: Fred Smith; brother: Robert N. Smith. Left with fond and loving memories: brothers: Vic Gosse, Dave (Marion) Gosse, Fenn (Ethel) Gosse, all of Spaniard's Bay; sisters-in-law: Janet Gosse and Marguerite Smith, both of Spaniard's Bay; brother-in-law: Jesse Smith; nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; as well as a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Young's Funeral Home, Spaniard's Bay. Funeral service took place Tuesday, November 13 at Holy Redeemer Anglican Church, Spaniard's Bay with interment followed at Maul Tree Hill Anglican Cemetery, Spaniard's Bay. In her memory donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Holy Redeemer Anglican Church Restoration Fund.

STONE, Cecil - Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on November 18, 2007, Cecil Stone of Upper Island Cove in his 90th year. Leaving to mourn, his wife Maude; three children: Llewellyn (Carol), Clayton (Joan) and Shirley (Ken) Gallant; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Hussey's Funeral Home. Rev. Strong, Rev. Young and Mrs. Donna Mercer conducted the service at St. Peter's Church and Cemetery.
