BUTT, Herman G. - Passed peacefully away at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, Herman G. Butt of Carbonear, age 84 years. Predeceased by wife: Alfreda; son: Barry; grandson: Brent; sister: Annie. Left to mourn, two sons: Ronald (Philomena), Burnt Point and Paul (Gladys), Freshwater, Carbonear; four daughters: Lillian (Allan) Clarke, Victoria, Sheila (Brian) Gear and Ann Deering, both of Carbonear and Wanda (Terry) Yetman, Bryant's Cove; daughter-in-law: Brenda, Fort McMurray, AB; 11 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; seven great-grandchildren; two step-greatgrandchildren; sister-in-law: Lillian Burke, Ontario; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Rested at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear. Rev. Jesse Bown conducted the funeral service on Thursday, May 12 at the United Church, Freshwater, Carbonear. Interment took place in the United Cemetery, Freshwater, Carbonear. Donations in his memory may be made to the Herman G. Butt Memorial Fund. CHURCHILL, Lavinia Joyce - Passed peacefully away at the Agnes Pratt Nursing Home, St. John's on Friday, May 20, 2011, Lavinia Joyce Churchill of Labrador City; formerly of Carbonear, age 75 years. Predeceased husband: William Theodore 'Ted', daughter: Loretta, son: Chancey, parents: Mary and Edgar Hiscock, sisters: Ella, Dorothy, Wilma and Annie. Left to mourn, three daughters: Jeanette (Gilles) Soucy, Quebec, Linda (Donnie) Driver, Ontario and Rhonda (Peter) Reid, Eastern Passage, NS; one son: Winston, New Brunswick; nine grandchildren: Christopher (Chantel), Daniel, Barry, Mario, Jennifer (Alex), Joyce, Brian, Melissa ( Steve) and Monica (Sebastien); four great-grandchildren: Colby, Candace, Sarah and Gabriel; sister: Jean Dodge, Little Heart's Ease; brothers: Josh (Lydia) Hiscock, Victoria, Leonard (Martha) Hiscock, and Ellis (Lenora) Hiscock, both of Ontario; sisters-in-law: Marcella Swain, Carbonear and Beatrice Ash, Harbour Grace; also a large number of other relatives and friends. CRANE, Josiah - Entered peacefully into eternal rest after a brief illness at the Carbonear General Hospital on Monday, March 28, 2011, Josiah Crane of Upper Island Cove, age 88 years. Predeceased by wife: Olivia; parents: John W. and Mary E. Crane; sisters: Gertie and Iris. Left with cherished memories are five sons: Reverend Howard (Pauline), Randell, Gerald, Wayne (Donna), Clyde (Irene); five daughters: Mary (Cliff) Gosse, Joan Gosse (Willard), Jean (Bob) Dawe, Sharon (Clay) Oates, Dale (Dale) Coombs; 17 grandchildren, 17 greatgrandchildren; sisters: Jean ( John) Peach, Susie Pippy; brothers: Ralph (Phyllis), Edward (Marina), Clyde (Beckie) and a large circle of other relatives and friends. The funeral requiem was held at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Upper Island Cove on Thursday, March 31, and was officiated by his son Reverend Howard, Canon Bill Strong and Reverend Arch Young. Interment was at St. Peter's Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hussey's Funeral Home.
