BROWN, Rita May- Passed suddenly away at the Carbonear General Hospital on May 5, 2009. Rita Brown of Tilton, aged 78 years. Predeceased by her husband Edward Brown, parents: John and Carrie Bradbury; brother: William Bradbury; sisters: Alice Clarke and Janette Bradbury and son-in-law: Rhodie Smith. Left with fond and loving memories her sons: David Brown (Susan) and Craig Brown, both of Tilton; daughters: Sherry Smith, Bishop's Cove and Peggy (Leslie) Mercer, Upper Island Cove; brothers: Winston Bradbury, Upper Island Cove, Mose Bradbury, Paradise, Randolph Bradbury, Upper Island Cove; sisters: Nina Noel, Upper Island Cove, Laura Bray, Ontario and Jenny Dawe, Port-de-Grave; 4 grandchildren: Tracy Brown, Stephanie Brown, Krista Foster and Michael Smith; 5 great-grandchildren: Zachary Moore, Chloe Moore, Noah Badcock, Sarah Smith and Gavin Foster and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Young's Funeral Home, Spaniard's Bay. The funeral service took place on May 9 at All Saints Church with interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery, Tilton. In her memory flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the All Saints Church.

CLARKE, Stella F. - Passed peacefully away at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear on Saturday, May 9, 2009, Stella F. Clarke of Victoria, age 87 years. Predeceased by husband: Allan; son: Edward; parents: Stephen and Lillian Morgan; infant brother: Isaac; stepmother: Emily and half sister: Edna. Left. to mourn, one daughter: Jean (Clifford) Bickford, Victoria; two sons: Frank (Sandra) and Allan (Lillian), both of Victoria; five grandchildren: Darin (Effie), Francine (Brian), Clark (Rona), Tracy (Edwin) and Stephen; seven great-grandchildren: Holly, Haley, Charlie, Peter, Adam, Heather and Danielle; sister: Grace (Matthias) White; half brother: Clayton (Phyllis) Morgan; special niece: Ruby (Charlie) March; sister-in-law: Luella (Lawrence) Hanlon; also a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Pastor Geoffrey Ryan conducted the funeral service on Monday, May 11 at Bethel Pentecostal Church and Cemetery, Victoria. Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. DROVER, Donald H. - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on May 9, 2009. Donald H. Drover of Upper Island Cove, aged 64 years. Predeceased by parents: Marion and Maxwell; granddaughters: Becky and Andrea Sparkes and infant daughter: Frances. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Frances (Shute) of 43 years; son: Stephen (Tracy), Port aux Basques; daughters: Shelly Drover (Brian), Annette Sparkes (Barry) both of Bay Roberts; brothers: Clyde, Bishop's Cove and Mose, Spaniard's Bay; sister: Elaine Neville (Tom), Ontario; 5 grandchildren: Nicholas, Lucas, Leah, Rachel and Cody and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Hussey's Funeral Home, Upper Island Cove. The funeral service took place on Tuesday; May 12 at St. Peter's Anglican Church followed with interment at St. Peter's Anglican Cemetery, Upper Island Cove. MERCER, Lawrence - Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on Thursday, May 7, 2009. Lawrence Mercer of Upper Island Cove, aged 82 years. Predeceased by his parents: Josiah and Bertha; brothers: Malcolm, Llewellyn, and Raymond; sisters: Violet Lundrigan and Winnifred Hussey. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Shirley Mercer of 54 years; sons: Gordon, Upper Island Cove, Frank (Ruby), Alberta and Herbert (Elizabeth), Carbonear; brother: Josiah (Florence), Upper Island Cove, sisters: Gladys Mercer, Upper Island Cove, Phoebe Crane, Harbour Grace, Elizabeth Jones (Gordon), Upper Island Cove and Susan Lynch (Graham), Upper Island Cove, 6 grandchildren: Ashley, Lexine, Noelle, Emma, Michael, Lori and Cory; 5 great-grandchildren: Lucas, Owen, Emily, Olivia and Claire and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Hussey's Funeral Home, Upper Island Cove. The funeral service took place on Saturday, May 9 at St. Peter's Anglican Church followed with interment at St. Peter's Anglican Cemetery, Upper Island Cove. PRYOR, Ernest - Passed peacefully away at his late residence in Spaniard's Bay on May 4, 2009. Ernest Pryor of Spaniard's Bay formally of Bay de Verde, aged 65 years. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Isabella Pryor. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Doris of 44 years, sons: Byron (Coreen), Halifax, NS, Trent (Valerie), British Columbia and Todd (Jodi), Spaniard's Bay; daughters: Dawn (Greg) and Traci (Kevin), both of Spaniard's Bay; sisters: Triffie (Jim Adams), Old Perlican, Mary (Larry Rodgers), Kingston, ON, Karen (Ian Cooke), Odessa, ON and Judy (Bud Warner), Napanee, ON, 9 grandchildren: Nicole (Reggie), Ernie (Amanda), Catlin, Ryan, Alex, Cameron, Jonathan, Amber and Nathan, 3 great-grandchildren: Hallie, Noah and Nicholas and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Young's Funeral Home, Spaniard's Bay. The funeral service took place on May 6 at Young's Funeral Home followed with inurnment at a later date at the Anglican Cemetery, Bay-de-Verde. PYNN, Emma - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Sunday, May 10, 2009, Emma Pynn of Harbour Grace, age 74 years. Predeceased by husband: Albert; sister: Dorothy; brothers: Frederick and Walter. Left to mourn, one daughter: Glenda (Robert) McGregor, Harbour Grace; two sons: Phillip (Donna) and Albert (Mary), both of Harbour Grace; three grandchildren: Steven, Michelle and Sarah; one brother: Gordon (Barbara) Sheppard, Holland Landing, ON; two sisters: Ethel (Raymond) Ash and Daisy (Harry) Hennessey, both of Harbour Grace; also a large number of other relatives and friends. SLADE, Robert J. - Passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Carbonear General Hospital on Friday, May 1, 2009, Robert J. Slade of Salmon Cove, age 64 years. Predeceased by parents: Silvie and Effie. Left to mourn, wife: Frances; one daughter: Wanda (Roland) Parsons, Salmon Cove; one son: Franklyn (Joeann), Perry's Cove; three grandsons: Adam (Mackenzie), Adrian and Ryan; two brothers: Ronald (Mary) and Randy (Joan), both of Salmon Cove; two sisters: Bertha (Warrick) Reynolds, Perry's Cove and Sandra (Jim) Reynolds, Salmon Cove; sister-in-law: Ursula (Freeman) King, Carbonear; his buddy: Allan Oates, Salmon Cove; also a large number of nieces, nephews and other' relatives and friends. SMITH, John - Passed suddenly away at the Carbonear General Hospital on May 20, 2009. John Smith of Spaniard's Bay, aged 75 years. Predeceased by brother-in-law: Harold Hutchings. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Lillian; sons: Carl (Pauline), Glen (Michelle) and Johnny; daughter: Cynthia (Robert); sisters: Betty (Edward) Newman, Spaniard's Bay and Mary Hutchings, Tilton; 7 grandchildren: Trevor, Tracey, Troy, Tommy, Ryan, Ashley and Aaron; 2 great-grandchildren: Brianna and Travis, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Young's Funeral Home, Spaniard's Bay. The funeral service took place on Saturday, May 23 at Holy Redeemer Anglican Church followed with interment at Maul Tree Hill Anglican Cemetery, Spaniard's Bay. WHELAN BRAZIL, Tiffany- Passed suddenly away on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, Tiffany Whelan Brazil of Spaniard's Bay, aged 24 years. Predeceased by grandmother Arine Whelan and uncle Reg Whelan. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Jonathan; children: Lucas and Noah; parents: Shannon and Darlene Whelan; sister: Danielle Whelan (Lee McCabe); father-in-law and mother- in-law: Cyril and Elizabeth Brazil; brothers-in-law: Matthew and Mark Brazil; sister-in-law: Laura Brazil; grandparents: Shirley and Art Smith and Jim Whelan, all of Spaniard's Bay as well as a large number of other family and friends. Resting at Young's Funeral Home, Spaniard's Bay. The funeral service took place on Saturday, May 16 at Holy Redeemer Anglican Church followed with interment at Holy Redeemer Anglican Cemetery, Spaniard's Bay. In her memory flowers are accepted and donations may be made to the Tiffany Whelan Brazil Memorial Fund.

YETMAN, Edward 'Ed' - Passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness at the Carbonear General Hospital, on Thursday, May 28, 2009, Edward 'Ed' Yetman of Harbour Grace, age 49 years. Predeceased by parents: James and Rita. Left to mourn, spouse: Hazel; one brother: William (Judy), Mt. Uniacke, NS; three sisters: Mary (Robert) Noseworthy, Harbour Grace, Betty (DJ) Maher, Calgary, AB and Debbie (Thomas) Short, Harbour Grace; special friend: Erroll Peddle, Bristol's Hope; three nieces and six nephews; remembered by Hazels children: Stacey (Mel) Loveless; Stephan Badcock and her grandson Tyler Loveless; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Fr. F. J. Aylward conducted the funeral mass on Monday, June 1 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Riverhead, Harbour Grace. Donations in his memory may be made to the Project Restoration Fund.
