ABBOTT, Cecil Gerald - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Friday, May 23, 2008, Cecil Gerald Abbott of Spaniard's Bay, aged 81 years. Predeceased by wife Dorothy in 2002. Left with fond and loving memories, his children: daughter: Veronica Walsh (Keith), St. John's; sons: Gerald Wayne (Marlene), Spaniard's Bay, Austin (Belcus), Inuvik, James (Brenda), Chamberlins and David, St. John's; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Young's Funeral Home, Spaniard's Bay. The Funeral Service took place Monday, May 26 at Holy Redeemer with interment followed at Maultree Hill Cemetery, Spaniard's Bay. In His memory donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Uthman and the ICU staff at the Carbonear General Hospital.

BROWN, Maxwell - Passed peacefully away at Health Sciences Center on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, of South River, aged 79 years. Predeceased by parents: James and Stella Brown (nee Earle); brother-in-law: Harry Pike. Leaving to mourn, wife: Ruth Brown (nee Hussey); two sons: Allan Maxwell (Phyllis) Brown, Wallace David (Sonia) Brown; one daughter: Sharon (Paul) Dwyer; sister: Olga Pike; four grandchildren: Scott, Julianna, Kimberley, Jason and Christa Brown; three great-grandchildren: Jessica, Nathan and Mackenzie Brown; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Gerald Westcott conducted the funeral service at The Anglican Parish of the Resurrection, South River on Saturday, May 17. Interment was at All Saints Anglican Cemetery, Salmon Cove, South River. Hononery Pallbearers: William Dwyer, Frank Harvey. Pallbearers: Lawrence Dicks, Fred Drover, Kenneth Russell, Dave Barrett, Dave Condow, Bill Smith. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Moore's Funeral Home, Clarke's Beach.

BUTT, Alfreda - Passed peacefully away at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, Alfreda Butt of Carbonear, age 77 years. Predeceased by son: Barry; grandson: Brent; brothers; Max and Albert. Left to mourn, husband: Herman; four daughters: Lillian (Allan) Clarke, Victoria, Anne Deering, Carbonear, Sheila (Brian) Gear, Carbonear and Wanda (Terry) Yetman, Bryant's Cove; two sons: Ronald (Philomena), Burnt Point and Paul (Gladys), Freshwater, Carbonear; daughter-in-law: Brenda Butt, Fort MacMurray, AB; eleven grandchildren: Stephen, Tracey (Ed), Scott (Tracey), Dennis, Jennifer, Corey, Rhonda, Megan, Barry Jr. (Carmel), Blaine (Tracey) and Bradley (Denise); eight great-grandchildren; one sister: Lillian Burke, Toronto, ON; sister-in-law: Helen Penney, Victoria; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Left with fond and loving memories, two sons: Joe (Carol), North River and Ray (Maureen), Upper Island Cove; daughters: Susie Hammond, Spaniard's Bay, Mabel Stone, Bryant's Cove, Marina Edgar Allen, Port-aux-Basques, Barbara Drover, Upper Island Cove; brother: Ray (Bertha) Lundrigan, Upper Island Cove; sisters-in-law: Jessie Osbourne, Upper Island Cove and Edith Lundrigan (nee England), England; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; also a large number of other relatives and friends. GREENE, Robert William - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Thursday, May 22, 2008, Robert William Greene of Western Bay, age 96 years. Predeceased by parents: John and Sarah Greene; brothers-in-law: Eric Perry, Fred Perry and James McConnell; sister-in-law: Julia Sickle. Left to mourn: wife: Tryphenia; daughter: Wendy Greene, Toronto, ON; son: Fred Greene, Western Bay; brother-in-law: James (Helen) Perry, Winnipeg, MB; sisters-in-law: Phyllis McConnell, Toronto, ON and Shirley (Ross) Steele, St. John's; also a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Left with fond and loving memories, wife: Eileen of 51 years; sons: Mark Noseworthy, Spaniard's Bay, Lewis Noseworthy, Gander, Brad Wilcox, Spaniard's Bay; daughters: Pearl Noseworthy, Spaniard's Bay, Sharon Pike, Harbour Grace, Karen Noseworthy, Spaniard's Bay; brother: Bernard Noseworthy, Spaniard's Bay; six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Young's Funeral Home, Spaniard's Bay. The Funeral Mass took place Tuesday, June 3 at Holy Redeemer Church with Cremation after the funeral service. Inurnment to take place at a later date. OSMOND, Irene - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Saturday, May 31, Irene Osmond, age 83. Predeceased by husband: Stanley Butt, second husband: George Osmond; grandsons: Neivelle, Ronnie and Carlson. Left with fond and loving memories, sons: Calvin (Viola), Jack (Marilyn), Clarence (Mabel). Predeceased by husband: Edward; son: Raymond; parents: George and Alice Lynch; three brothers: Mike, George and Dave; three sisters: Laura, Ethel and Frances; two step-brothers: Jack and Walter. Left to mourn, daughter-in-law: Daphne Sweetland, Carbonear; three grandchildren: Rae (Jim), Edward (Virginia) and Keith (Heather); five great-grandchildren: Lucas, Andrew, Christopher, Noah and Halle; step-brother: Selby (Mildred) Lynch, Shearstown; step-sister: Alice (William) Adams, Brampton, ON a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
