MATTHEWS, Llewellyn
Passed on: March 29th, 2013

Passed peacefully away on March 29, 2013 at Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Llewellyn Matthews formerly of Brownsdale in his 87th year. Predeceased by parents, John and Mary Ann; one brother Roland; two sisters, Sadie and Eva; and son-in-law Garfield. Leaving to mourn, his wife Florence of 67 years; three sons, Walt (Effie), New Chelsea; Freeman and Tony both of St. John's; three daughters, Daphne, Old Perlican; Louise (Kenneth) Sibley's Cove; and Velma (Donnie), Gull Island; one sister Eileen (Tom) Noel, Bridgeport; Thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; as well as a large circle of family and friends. Funeral service was held from the Chapel in Old Perlican on April 1, 2013, with interment in United Church Cemetery, Brownsdale. Donations in Llewellyn's memory can be made to The Newfoundland Pony Society or a charity of one's choice.

PIKE, Harold

Mr. Harold (Hal) Pike
of Carbonear, passed away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Monday, March 25, 2013. Mr. Pike was 77 years old. He leaves to mourn his loving family: Wife: Elsie Manning, Children: Randy (Daphne) Pike and Ruby (Ken) Peddle, Grandchildren: Donald, Holly (Richard), Jennifer (Paul), Sarah and Kayla, Great Granchildren: Abby and Kaitlyn, Siblings: Cliff (Janet), Winnie and Muriel (Rev. John), Sister -in-law: Mary, Step Children: Larry (Sheila), Dora (Terry), Tony (Debbie), Shirley (Gord), Sandy (Mark), Vera (Colleen) and Dezie (Kevin), 10 Step Grandchildren and 5 Step Great Grandchildren, Predeceased by: Siblings: Myrtle (Bob), Cyril (Margot), Elva (Charles), Verna (Harry), George, Brother-in-law: Jack, Stepson: Don, Parents: George and Margaret. The funeral service took at Slade's Funeral Home, Carbonear on Thursday, March 28 at 2 p.m. with inurnment to follow at a later date. The family received relatives and friends at Slade's Funeral Home, Carbonear. No flowers by request, donations may be made to the Bethany United Church Special Fund Restoration Committee - Window Restoration. , of Carbonear, passed away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Thursday, March 28, 2013. Mrs. Thomas was 74 years old. She leaves to mourn her loving family: Children: Lisa Thomas, Elizabeth Thomas, Robert (Joan) Thomas, Shirley) Thomas, Margaret Thomas (Frank Thistle), Pauline (Doug) Gover, Ronald (Tina) Thomas, Patrick (Darlene) Thomas and David (Shirley) Thomas. Grandchildren: Jennifer, Joshua, Jeff, Melanie, Ronnie, Christopher, Amanda, Alice, William, Johnathon, Aaron, Amanda, Jeanine, Richard, Donald and Patrick, 8 Great Grandchildren, Siblings: Leo, Vincent, Richard, Luke and Sheila. Predeceased by: Husband: Ronald Michael Thomas, Son: Vincent Gerald Thomas, Parents: Patrick and Margaret Rice, Sister: Agnes Woodrow. The family received relatives and friends at Slade's Funeral Home, Carbonear. The funeral burial took at St. Patrick's R.C. Cemetery, Carbonear on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catherine Sheila Thomas Memorial Fund.
