BICKHAM, Lillian - Passed peacefully away at the Luxury Estates, Carbonear on Wednesday, March 29, 2006, Lillian Bickham of Harbour Grace, age 89 years. Predeceased by husband William R. in 1997. Left to mourn, one daughter Linda (Dennis) Galway, Carbonear; one son John (June), Harbour Grace; three grandsons: Michael, Curtis and Mark; one brother Harry (Dorothy) Brown, New Hamburg, ON; one sister Louise Taylor, St. John's; sisters-in-law: Audrey Brown, Kitchener, ON and Helen Brown, Harbour Grace; brother-in-law Harold Squires, New Jersey, USA; special friend and roommate Ethel Emberley, Luxury Estates, Carbonear; also a large number of other relatives and friends. BUTT, Charles - Of Carbonear passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital, Carbonear on Saturday, March 18, 2006. Mr. Butt was in his 80th year. Predeceased by son Gary; parents: Joseph and Margaret Butt; Florence Mercer, Maude Kelloway, Leah Bennett; brothers: Chesley Butt, Ben Butt and William Butt. He leaves to mourn his loving family, wife Eleanor Butt, Carbonear; children: George (Rosalie) Butt, Clarke's Beach, Bruce (Ann) Butt, Peggy (Lloyd) Bishop, Scott (Michelle) Butt, all of Carbonear; grandchildren: Christopher Butt, Cory (Charolette) Butt, Lori Butt, Roxanne (Chad) Forward, Katie Butt and Aiden Butt; brother George (Jessie) Butt, Carbonear and sister Doris (Malcolm) Butt, Carbonear; a large circle of relatives and friends. CLARKE, Doris (nee White) - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Tuesday, March 28, 2006, Doris Clarke (nee White) of Victoria, age 82 years. Predeceased by husband George E., 1987; daughter Alice, 1988 and sons-in-law: Rex Russell and Lloyd Russell. Left to mourn five daughters: Phyllis (Ambrose) Cole, Buchans, Mary Russell, Aurora, ON, Eileen (Aubrey) Rose and Elsie (Alton) Turnbull, both of Victoria and Goldie Russell, Guelph, ON; one son Harold (Linda), Victoria; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grand- daughters; step-sister Marion (Gilbert) Emberley, Carbonear; step-brothers: Calvin (Stella) White and Ezekiel White, both of Victoria and Arthur (Karen) White, ON; sister-in-law Hazel White, Victoria; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Pastor Geoffrey Ryan conducted the funeral service on Friday, March 31 at Bethel Pentecostal Church and Cemetery, Victoria. DAWE, Mr. Walter C. - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, March 25, 2006, Walter C. Dawe, age 67 years, of Port de Grave. Predeceased by parents: William and Vera Dawe; very special uncle Samuel Dawe and sister-in-law's husband Gus Dawe. Leaving to mourn wife Pearl Dawe (nee Mercer); two sons: William (Madeline Powell), Samuel James (Sherry); one brother Robert (Margaret); three grand- children: Nicholas, Emily and Christian Dawe; very special aunt Emmie Dawe; very special cousins: Vera (Richard) French, Audrey (Terry) Burke, Elsie (Kevin) Yetman, Marion Mintis; special nephews: Paul and Peter Dawe; sisters-in-law: Emmie (Robert Andrews), Barbara Dawe, Myra (Dave) Taylor; also leaving to mourn a large circle of other relatives and friends. FRENCH, William D. - Passed peacefully away at his late residence, Coley's Point, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 11, 2006. Predeceased by brothers: Harry and Frank and sister Marion Elms. Leaving to mourn: his devoted wife Greta; son Paul (Brenda); daughters: Alison (Clyde) Reid and Janice (Geoff) Dawson; four precious grandchildren: Bradley and Caroline Reid, Courtney French and Michael Dawson; sisters: Carrie (Robert) Duffett of  St. Phillips, Vera Baird of Long Pond, Manuels; sisters-in-law: Ethel French of Stephenville and Daphne Snow of Coley's Point; also a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted by The Rev'd S. Mark Janes on Monday, March 13, 2006 from St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church and Cemetery, Coley's Point. Pallbearers were Robert Baird, Louis Bussey, Michael Duffett, David Elms, Wayne Gifford and Frazer Petten. Funeral arrangements were by Moore's Funeral Home, Bay Roberts.

GOSSE, William Howard - Passed away peacefully at his home in Corner Brook, William Gosse, formerly of Spaniard's Bay. Predeceased by son Jim and granddaughter Jane. He leaves to mourn his wife Lorraine; daughters: Elaine (Rex Brown) and Barbara (Ken Moran); sons: Ted (Sue Monroe) and Roger (Kelley); grandchildren: Jill (Aubrey Sanders), Jim, Brendan, Clara Jane, Will and Sam and great grandchildren Luke and Kate. Also mourning Lorraine's brothers and sisters: Don, Alf, Gerald, Winston, Cavell, Winnie and Norma and their families; lifelong friends Pauline and Bill Butt; and numerous relatives and friends especially in Spaniard's Bay, St. John's, South River and Corner Brook. Bill Gosse skippered a fishing crew down on the Labrador until the early 1950's than worked as a carpenter in St. John's until his retirement in 1984. He was a lifelong gardener and berry picker, keen follower of current events and an enthusiastic sports fan. Those who knew him will especially remember his phenomenal memory and ability to tell a story, He was a family man first and foremost. His other loves were the coast of Labrador and the generations of people who inhabited Spaniard's Bay. He will be long remembered and sadly missed. He was a son of traditional Newfoundland. An era is ending. The funeral took place at Holy Redeemer Anglican Church Saturday, March 18, 2006. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Corner Brook and Young's Funeral Home, Spaniard's Bay. Donations may be made to Holy Redeemer Church.

LAVHEY, Kathleen
September 24, 1924 - March 26, 2006

Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on March 26, 2006, Kathleen Lavhey of Terrenceville, in her 81st year. Predeceased by sons Reuben and Randell. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories daughters, Margaret McCarthy (James Saunders) of Marystown, Judy Smith (Clestine Fewer) of Marystown, Melinda Cooper (Norman) of Terrenceville and Ellen Lavhey of Terrenceville, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren plus a large circle of other family and friends. Funeral Service was officiated by Rev. Berdina Ford from RC Church, Terrenceville on March 29, 2006 with interment following at Anglican Cemetery, Terrenceville. Pallbearers were Norman Cooper, Celestine Fewer, Jack Rideout, Tony Barrett, Kerry Hickey and Maurice McCarthy. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin. "WE CARE."

LEWIS, Brenda M. - Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family at her residence on Sunday, March 19, 2006, Brenda M. Lewis of Carbonear, age 17 years. Left to mourn, parents: Jordan and Inez; one brother Roger L.; also a large number of uncles, aunts and cousins; as well as other relatives and friends. Rev. MOORE, (Kavanagh) Mary Jane - Of Makinsons, NL passed away peacefully at the Clarke's Beach Pentecostal Nursing Home, Clarke's Beach on Sunday, March 19, 2006. Mrs. Moore was in her 84th year. Predeceased by husbands: William Kavanagh and Abraham Moore; parents: Isaac and Mary Ann Mugford; son William Kavanagh; daughter Muriel Hawe. She leaves to mourn her loving family; children: Melvin  (Susie) Kavanagh, Angus Kavanagh (friend Phoebe), Lloyd (June) Kavanagh, Brymer Kavanagh, Eric (Colleen) Kavanagh; stepchilden: Hazel (Ed) Hedd, Ralph (Annie) Moore, Irving (Phyllis) Moore, Dave (Cynthia) Moore, Lloyd (Joan) Moore; brothers: Isaac (Marie) Mugford and Joe Mugford; sister Masie Mugford; a large circle of grandchildren, great grand- children, relatives and friends. The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 from The Anglican Church and Cemetery, Mackinsons. MOULTON, Maxwell Howard
December 11, 1920 - March 26, 2006

Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on March 26, 2006, Maxwell Moulton of Garnish in his 85th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife Susan; son Karl and wife Emily of Garnish; daughter Glenda and husband Robert Nolan of Marystown; grandchildren Leeanne and Ryan plus a large circle of other family and friends. Funeral Service was officiated by Rev. John E.K. Nicolle from St. Gile's Anglican Church, Garnish on March 28th with interment following at Anglican Cemetery, Garnish. Pallbearers were Haydyn Petten, Wilfred Evans, Steven Grandy, Owen Power, Tim Walters and Wallace Moulton. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin. "WE CARE."

PECKHAM, Hazel Grace (nee Parsons) - Passed peacefully away at the Salvation Army Glenbrook Lodge, St. John's on Monday, March 27, 2006, Hazel Grace Peckham (nee Parsons) of Victoria, in her 97th year. Predeceased by her loving husband Ephriam Peckham in Feb. 1979; her daughter Hester J. Clarke in March 2000; three grandchildren: Earl E., Terry V. and Harold Clarke; son-in-law Richard Parsons. Left to celebrate her life with fond and loving memories her sister Major Lillian Thompson, St. John's; three daughters: Winnie Parsons, Carbonear, Ina (George) Denty and Muriel (Gerald) Attwood, both of Mount Pearl; one son John (Alice), Victoria; son-in- law Earl Clarke, Victoria; nineteen grand-children; thirty one great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; good friend and roommate Mildred Osmond; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre March 26, 2006, Phillip Power of South East Bight, in his 53rd year. Predeceased by his Mom, Bridget, Dad, Philip and brother William. Leaving to mourn his sisters Catherine (James) and Eleanor (Albert) of South East Bight, Matilda (Jim) of Placentia, Doreen (Peter) of St. John's and Mary (Phonse) of Southern Harbour, his beloved brother Ray (Peggy) of South East Bight, 27 very special nieces and nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Ted O'Connor conducted funeral Mass at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in South East Bight Wednesday, March 29th. Interment was at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in South East Bight. Pallbearers were Ray Hepditch, Craig Power, Roderick Whyte, Jimmy Hefferan, Jim Hefferan and Martin Ward. Crossbearer was Jamie Whyte. REES, Douglas - Of Carbonear, (Husband of the late Rose Pitts) passed suddenly away at the Carbonear General Hospital, Carbonear on Sunday, March 12, 2006, age 74 years. Mr. Rees was a Sergeant of Arms, Branch 23 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Carbonear. Predeceased by parents: Hubert and Agnes Rees; brother-in-law Fred Trunbull. He is survived by his loving family: children: Thelma Rees (Doug Clarke), Carbonear, Roxanne Rees (Stephen Rowe), Fort McMurray, Gary Rees and Rosemary Cook, both of Bridgewater, NS; stepchildren: William Pitts, Anetha Cornelius, Beatrice Poirler, Dianne Pitts; 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren: brothers and sisters: Thelma (Cecil) Churchill, Brampton, ON, Wilfred (Ruby) Rees, Spaniard's Bay, Fred (Shirley) Rees, Whitehorse, NWT, Gilbert (Bulha) Hiscock, Grand Prairie, Mabel Turnbull, Freshwater, George (Donna) Hiscock, Freshwater, Marjorie (Jim) Penney, Carbonear, David (Regina) Hiscock, St. John's, Rita (Carl) Slade, Salmon Cove, Elvis (Debbie) Hiscock; stepfather George Hiscock, Victorian Manor, Victoria; a large circle of relatives and friends. TAYLOR, Blanche E. "Doll" - Passed peacefully away at the Interfaith Citizens' Home, Carbonear on Sunday, March 26, 2006, Blanche E. "Doll" Taylor of Bristol's Hope, age 83 years. Pre-deceased by husband Henry A., 1983; son Henry Jr., 1990; grandson Paul Butler, 2002; son-in-law Gideon Deering, 1995; sisters: Nellie Taylor and Susannah Forward; brothers: George Sheppard, William Sheppard and Reuben Sheppard; sisters-in-Iaw: Frances Sheppard and Evelyn Sheppard. Passed away at his residence on March 26, 2006, Norman White of Port au Bras in his 81st year. Leaving to mourn: brother-in-law Eldred Drodge; nieces Rosalind, Lavenia, Judy, Thelma and nephew Ed, cousins and friends particularly Phyllis, who was special to him. Predeceased by father William, mother Elizabeth and sister Mae. Rev. Predeceased by husband Charles Clements; parents Freeman and Emma Brooks; brother Clyde Brooks, sister Margaret Smith, and brother-in-law Raymond Janes. Leaving to mourn: husband Raymond Young, sisters Helen Moritz (Hans) Bluffton, South Carolina, U.S.A., Myrna Vey (Lawrence) at Long Beach, Freda Janes at St. John's, brothers Clarence (Georgie) at Grand Bank, Freeman (Roseanne) at Grand Bank; step-sons Bruce Young (Brenda) at St. John's, Perry young (Sharon) at St. John's; step-children Mitchell, Jessical, and Jennel, great-grandson Jorden; sisters-in-law Maud Brooks and Dorothy Prosser at Grand Bank, George Clements (Cathy) at Grand Bank, Cecil Clements (Marilyn) at St. John's; 23 nieces and nephews, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. funeral Service was conducted by Majors Frank and Rita Pittman, assisted by Pastor Lorenzo Heinrichs and CSM Kathy Bungay from the Salvation Army, Grand Bank on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at 2 p.m. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Grand Bank. Music was provided by the Salvation Army Band and String Band.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank, "Where Dedicated People Care."
