Predeceased by son Harold; daughter Karen; sons-in-law: Maurice Curran and John Carpenter; sister Janet Tuck. Left to mourn, husband John A; five daughters: Annie Curran, Carbonear, Marion (Donald) Sheppard, Spaniard's Bay; Shirley (Cyril) Griffin, Carbonear, Myrtle Carpenter, Carbonear and Gail Spracklin, Shearstown; five sons: John (Ann Reardon), St.John's, Graham (Shirley), Carbonear, Leslie (Diane), Carbonear, Cyril (Sherri), Chamberlains and Gary (Carol), Carbonear; 25 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister Marion Clarke, St. John's; also a large number of other relatives and friends. CHAFE, Mary Elizabeth (nee Davis) - Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, March 9, 2005, Mary Chafe of Harbour Grace, retired school teacher, age 96 years. Predeceased by her husband Leslie, 1978. Left with fond and loving memories her sons Eric (Patricia), Boston and Leslie (Linda), Harbour Grace; precious grandchildren Chris, Justin, Matthew and Lesley-Anne; special nieces as well as other family and friends. CLARKE, Beatrice - Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles Escasoni Complex, St. John's on Saturday, March 19, 2005, Beatrice Clarke of Carbonear, age 72 years. Predeceased by husband Frank D. and brother Stewart. HOWELL, George Sterling of Carbonear passed away peacefully at the Carbonear General Hospital, Carbonear on Thursday, March 17, 2005. Mr. Howell was 70 years old and was a 30 year member of the Masonic Lodge and a long time employee of M.A. Powell, Carbonear and Atlantic Grocery, Bay Roberts. He was predeceased by parents: Willis and Sarah Howell; grandmother Susie Cole; sisters: Mabel and Myra; two infant brothers; father and mother-in-law: Stanley and Phenemae Swain. Passed peacefully away, surrounded by family, at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on March 13, 2005, age 86. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of memories are: Four sons, John (Bridget), Capt. Herbert (Theresa), Felix (Vera) and Gordon (Mary); seven daughters, Agnes Ruddy (William), Bridget Lewis, Angela Kean (Joseph), Anne Walker (Raymond), Phyllis Sinyard (James), Shirley Simms (Truman), and Ellen Bock (Allan); special daughter Andrea Colbourne (Ross); grandchildren Jerome, Jeffrey, Michael, Patricia, Denise, Karen, Dwayne, Mark, Jonathan, Andrew, Sean, Cathy, Michelle, Jessica, Melanie, Krista, Reggie, Nicole, Gregory, Sara, Shari, Monica, Brian, Kate, Vanessa, Daniel and Caitlin; 11 great-grandchildren; and a wide circle of extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert, granddaughters Felicia Murrin and Judi Fine, and son-in-law George Lewis. Visitation took place at the funeral home on West Street, St. Anthony. The funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 18 at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Goose Cove officiated by Fr. Jim Robertson. Interment followed at the cemetery, Goose Cove. MUTREY, James - Of Carbonear passed peacefully at his home, Carbonear on Friday, March 25, 2005. Mr. Mutrey was 72 years old. He was predeceased by his parents Norman and Jenny Mutrey. He leaves to mourn his loving family; wife Stella Mutrey, Carbonear; children: Louise (Dennis) Marshall, Linda Mutrey, Gerald Mutrey (Colleen Raul) all of Carbon ear; grandchildren: Casey and Taylor Marshall, Grace Mutrey; brother Nonnan Mutrey, Goose Bay; sisters: Winnifred (Winnie) (James) Butt, Carbonear, Marie Lawlor, Goose Bay, Bernice Wagner, New Brunswick. Msgr. E.T. Bromley conducted the Funeral Mass on Monday, March 28, 2005 from St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Carbonear, followed by the internment at Carbonear Interfaith Cemetery, Carbonear. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Slade's Funeral Home, Powell Dr., Carbonear, NL. Pallbearers were: Sean Bishop, Norman Butt, Warren Davis, Dennis Marshall, Edgar McCann and Glen Murray.

NEWMAN, William - Of Upper Island Cove passed peacefully away on Sunday, March 20, 2005 at Kitchener, ON. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Edith Newman. Left to mourn, his daughter Pamela; three grandchildren; two brothers: Rendell (Sharron) Newman, Baxter (Evelyn) Mercer; three sisters: Jane (Norm) Hunt, Annie (Fraser) Mercer and Elizabeth (Levi) Lynch. A memorial service was held at St. Peter's Church on April 3 followed by interment at St. Peter's Cemetery, Upper Island Cove.

NOSEWORTHY, Seward H. -Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre, St. John's on Thursday, March 9, 2005, Seward H. Noseworthy of Spaniard's Bay, age 72 years. Predeceased by his infant son John, 1977. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Violet of 43 years, three daughters Betty (Lorne) Butt, Kelly (John) Drinkwater, both of Cambridge, ON, and Elaine (fiancé Roland Parsons), Spaniard's Bay; one son Leslie (Sylvia), Spaniard's Bay; six grandchildren Ryan, Adam, Jennifer, Marley, Brandon and Leslie and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rested at Young's Funeral Home, Spaniard's Bay. Funeral service was held Saturday, March 12 at Holy Redeemer Anglican Church, Spaniard's Bay. Cremation followed. TRICKETT COTTER, Mary - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Tuesday, March 29, 2005, Mary Cotter Trickett of Carbonear, age 90 years. Predeceased by her husband Jacob Cotter 1972 and husband Fred Trickett 1995; grandson James Oates 1996; brother Chesley; sisters: Elsie, Ally, Jean, Annie and Maude. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories, son Rex (June) Cotter, Carbonear; daughter Elsa (Max) Barr, Kiama, Australia; grandchildren: Heather (Roger) Powell, Robert Cotter, Michael Cotter, Lisa (Bernie) Green and Natalie (Stephen) Ferringo; great-grandchildren: Nathan, Stephen, Rachael, Natasha, Mitchell, Tonia and Nakita; sister-in-law Vida Trickett, Clarenville; special friend Nellie Loveys, Victoria; a number of dear nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends.
