BYRNE, Ronald G. - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Tuesday, June 12, 2007, Ronald G. Byrne of Thickett, Riverhead, Harbour Grace, age 77 years. Predeceased by daughter: Mary Alice; son: Terry and sisters: Christine and Helen. Left to mourn, wife: Susie; two daughters: Christine (Jerome) Galway; Riverhead, Harbour Grace and Clara (Paul) Osmond, Thickett, Riverhead, Harbour Grace; five sons: Ronald (Ada), Leo (Shirley) and Reg (Glenda), all of Thickett, Riverhead, Harbour Grace, Gary (Stephanie), Tilton and Wayne, Thickett, Harbour Grace; fourteen grandchildren: Renee, Leanne, Ashley, Nichole, Perry, Ronnie, Keith, Rodney, Michelle, Roger, Tina, Terry, Kelsey and Amethyst; fifteen great-grandchildren: Brandon, Tyler, Jordan, Madison, Hailey, Braxton, Kassidy, Sarahann, Shaylee, Cameron, Bradley, Jack, Michael, Hannah and Brady; three brothers: Tom, Carbonear, John, Thickett, Riverhead, Harbour Grace and Bill (Annie); Riverhead, Harbour Grace; two sisters: Annie (Edward) Mercer, Thickett, Riverhead, Harbour Grace and Bridget (Jacob) Parsons, Bryant's Cove; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Fr. F.J. Aylward conducted the funeral Mass on Thursday, June 14 at St. Joseph 's Roman Catholic Church, Riverhead, Harbour Grace. CAINES, Gwendolyn M. - Passed peacefully away at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, Gwendolyn M. Caines of Carbonear, age 60 years. Predeceased by parents: Nelson and Viola Kelland. DOYLE, James W. - Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's on Tuesday, June 5, 2007, James W. Doyle of Gull Island, age 74 years. GOSSE, Mrs. Pearl - Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on June 10, 2007, Mrs. Pearl Gosse of Spaniard's Bay, aged 83 years. Predeceased by husband: Solomon Gosse (1978) and son: William Gosse (2005). Left with fond and loving memories, son: Al (Marjorie) Hiscott of Milton, ON; daughters: Linda (David) Fitzgerald of Labrador City, Marie (Herbert) Roach of St. John's; sisters: Matilda Pitts of New Perlican, Marion Davis of St. John's, Pheobe (Alfred) Hefford of Dildo; brother: Nelson (Linda) Luscombe of Toronto, ON; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; as well as a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Young's Funeral Home, Spaniard's Bay. Funeral service took place Thursday; June 14 at Holy Redeemer Anglican Church, Spaniard's Bay, with interment followed at Green Head Anglican Cemetery, Spaniard's Bay. In her memory flowers were accepted or donations may be made to the Holy Redeemer Church Fund in her memory.

KENNEDY, Margaret - Passed peacefully away at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear on Saturday, June 23, 2007, Margaret Kennedy of Carbonear, age 83 years. Predeceased by first husband: William Murphy and second husband: William Kennedy; son: Bernard Murphy; daughter-in-law: Patricia Murphy; sisters: Beatrice, Elizabeth and Kathleen; brothers: Michael, William and James. Left to mourn: three sons: William Murphy and David (Donna) Murphy, both of Carbonear and Gerard (Shirley) Murphy, Salmon Cove; step-daughter: Gloria Kennedy, St. John's; thirteen grandchildren: sixteen great-grandchildren: two sisters: Rosalie (John Will) Mutrey and Agnes Reynolds, both of Carbonear; sisters-in-law: Eileen Reynolds, Harbour Grace, Myrtle Reynolds, Carbonear, Hannah Thomey, St. John's, Molly Tobin and Jenny Murphy, both of Corner Brook and Nellie Murphy, Stephenville; brother-in-law: Patrick (Flora) Kennedy, Carbonear; a large number of nephews, nieces as well as a large number of other relatives and friends. RICE, Mary - Passed peacefully away on June 2, 2007 of the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear, Mary Rice, at the age of 82 years. Leaving to mourn, two daughters: Elizabeth (Cyril) Ryan of Turk's Cove, Loretta Brown, Dawson Creek, B.C.; three sons: Michael, Leonard and Dominic of Red Head Cove. Eight grandchildren: Carmella (Sandy), Donald (Stephanie), Derek (Veronica), Denise (Rob), David, Dwayne, Melanie and Steven.

SHANDERA, Mary Ellen (Butler) - Beloved wife of Rudolph, passed away at the age of 78 years, at the Drumheller Hospital Acute Care on June 21, 2007, surrounded by her family; Mary Ellen was born on July 6, 1928 in Butlerville, Newfoundland. She came to Canada following WWII as the war bride of Rudolph. Predeceased by her grandson David Shandera, Bay Roberts, NL. She is survived by her husband Rudolph of 62 years and their four children: Raymond (Elizabeth), Bay Roberts, NL, Philip (Anita), Gerald (Brenda), Calgary, AB and Geraldine ( Steve) Racine, Boissevain, MB; grandchildren: Jill, Lori and Robert; Shawn, Nathan, Nancy and Natalie; Bradley; Tina and Gary Shandera; Bob, Bill, Brandi and Barrett Racine; foster grandchildren: Wanda, Lorraine, Brenda and Karen Wotton; Arnold, Dale and Charmaine Bone; and 21 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Mary Ellen's life was held in Brumheller, Tuesday, June 26, 2007. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to Morrin United Church or The Drumheller Salvation Army Food Bank.

SULLIVAN, Joseph F. “Joe”- Passed peacefully away, surrounded by his loving family and under the loving care of all staff at 1 East of the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear on Friday, June 8, 2007, Joseph F. “Joe” Sullivan of Riverhead, Harbour Grace, age 66 years. Predeceased by parents: Edward and Bridget Ann Sullivan. Left to mourn his devoted wife: Vivian; two daughters: Gail (Bill) Littlejohn, Burlington, ON and Darlene (Brian) Gracie, Waterdown, ON; one son: Joseph (Karen), Bay Roberts; seven grandchildren: Jennifer, Jessica, Cameron, Mitchell, Skylar, Olivia and Lauren; three brothers: Brendan (Shirley), Whitby, ON, Edward (Sharon), Milton, ON and Francis (Marie), Harbour Grace; six sisters: Alice Reddick (Bill) Short and Mary O'Brien, both of Riverhead, Harbour Grace, Geraldine (Gerry) Costello, St. John's, Margaret (Paul) Otis, Montreal, PQ, Gertrude (Greg) McFatridge, Mississauga, ON and Bride (Jim) Lynch, Truro, NS; also a large number of other relatives and friends. WELSH, Stephen Marcus - Of Lakeview, NB, July 29/36 - Jun 5/07, passed away after a very long illness at Lakeview Nursing Home. Predeceased by parents, Belah (1974) Ethel (Peddle, 1977); sister Edith Cole (1995) and brother Earl (1997). Will always be remembered and sadly missed by wife and companion of 36 years Prema (Chris) of Moncton; five children of Ontario, Donna, Debbie, Cathy, Stephen, Michael and grandchildren. Always in the hearts of brothers, Robert (Lillian), Max (Jessie), George (lna), Belah, Jr (Alva) Sisters, Minnie (Charlie Legge), Vera (Richard Chaney), Ida (Max Legge), Mabel (Lloyd Bishop) Phyllis and sister-in-law Madge. Predeceased by parents: Jethro and Elizabeth; sisters: Sadie Squires and Bessie Burden; 1st wife: Jenny (nee Delaney), 1939; 2nd wife: Sadie (nee Foster), 1983; friend: Muriel Moores, 2002 and grandson: Jeffrey Clarke, 2005. Left to mourn, one son: Boyd (Marie), Western Bay; three daughters: Betty (Ross) Clarke, Lewisporte, Dorothy (William) Crummey; Western Bay and Greta (David) Lilly, Paradise; three grandchildren: Terry (Corrine) Whalen, San Jose, California, Gail Whalen (Norman Richard), Mont Jolie, PQ and Shawn (Kim) Clarke, Courtice, ON; eight great-grandchildren: Luc, Dale, Jimmy; Scarlett, Dylan, Nolan, Ricky and Nathan; nieces and nephews; two very special friends: Kristian Crummey, Western Bay and Dr. David Moores, Edmonton, AB; also a large number of other relatives and friends.
