In the early morning of July 21st, Al passed away peacefully at Bastion Place in Salmon arm B.C.to unite with the love of his life Martha. For many years Al and Martha ran Baker Building Movers Ltd. from Golden throughout the Okanagan area. A wonderful gentle man with a huge heart that touched the lives of all he knew. He will be missed by his step children, Dorothy McKenna of Sicamous B.C, Patricia Dyck of Prince George B.C, William Dyck of Oshawa Ontario, and Jerry Dyck of Calgary Alberta, his nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Bastion Place, words cannot express your kindness and compassion you showed towards Al.Also warmest thanks to Dr. Beech for your thoughtful care and support. Campbell, 47, of Moncton, NB., passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Center in Halifax, NS., after a long battle with heart disease. Born in Mount Pearl and raised in Bristols Hope, NFLD., he was the son of Joyce and the late Ralph Howell. Campbell was employed by Grant Thornton and headed up their International IT department. He was involved with the Scouts organization and the Parent Teacher School Association. Campbell enjoyed camping, woodworking and golf, his sense of humour will be missed by his golfing buddies. Loving father, husband, son and brother, he is survived by his devoted wife of 20 years, June; two beautiful daughters, Olivia (15) and Molly (13); mother, Joyce and stepfather, Jim of Moncton; three sisters, Wanda (her daughters Alex and Morgan) of Moncton, Lynn (Greg) of Halifax and Lisa of B.C.; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family received friends and relatives at Cobb's Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869-2007) on Sunday, July 6, from 1-4pm. Predeceased by parents: Bert and Violet Goosney (nee Seward); husband Frank Mercer; brothers: Harvey Goosney and Bert Goosney. Leaving to mourn her daughter Diane (Patrick) Foley; sons: Frank Jr. (Betty) Mercer, Gordon (Hyacinth) Mercer and Barry (Lorraine) Mercer; sisters: Peggy (Walter) King, Betty (Ned) Critch and Barbara (Ron) Hart; brothers: Mitt (Ruby) Goosney, Bryant (Edna) Goosney; grandchildren: Dennis, Christopher (Reshelle), Stephen (Lynn) and Zachary (Hitomi), Ben and Laura (Shane); great grandchildren: Serena, Zoe, Lauren, Caitlen, Ella, Katelynn and Nicholas; sisters-in-law: Laura Goosney, Irene Goosney, Bertha Hierlihy, Beulah Mercer and Florence Marginson. Mom was born in Lomond, Bonne Bay. She grew up in Deer Lake, worked as secretary at Bowaters Power Plant and has the distinction of being the first woman to work at the site. My parents were married for over 60 years and together they served in different communities around Newfoundland and Labrador, mother being church organist and dad with the RCMP. She will be greatly missed.

WELLS, Dr. Leslie Arnett, FRCS (Eng) - Surrounded by his family at his home, Dr. Leslie A. Wells passed away peacefully on July 27, 2014, aged 89, he was predeceased by his wife Christina. Leaving with fond and cherished memories are his Son Robert (Valerie), Daughter Mary (Shawn) and Son Andrew (Wanda), and Grandchildren Matthew (Krista), Jeremy, Nathan and Christopher. He will be greatly missed by extended family in Newfoundland, Ireland, Scotland, the United States and the United Kingdom. Born in Carrickmacross, County Monaghan, Ireland, Leslie moved to Carbonear in 1959 to serve as a General Surgeon and local physician for the next 40 years. He quickly embraced Newfoundland as his new home. He was active in the community and was a key proponent of the building of the Carbonear Hospital. A skilled and dedicated surgeon, family man and mentor as well as an enthusiastic gardener, fisherman, partridge hunter and bridge player, Leslie had a positive impact on everyone he met and believed in respect for all people. Cremation has taken place and the family received visitors at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Tuesday, July 29 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, July 30 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Michael & All Angels Church, 75 Kiwanis Street, St. John's.
