BISHOP, Paul Jr. - Passed away suddenly at the Halifax Infirmary on February 5, 2010, Paul Bishop Jr. of Upper Island Cove, aged 25 years. He is predeceased by his grandfathers Archibald Coombs and Herbert Bishop. Left with fond and loving memories are his parents Paul and Marilyn Bishop; fiancée Kerri Mercer; sisters: Jessica and Jillian; brother Steven; grandmothers Vera Coombs and Doris Bishop; special friends Cleo, Jake, Mace and Minnie; along with aunts and uncles and other relatives and friends. Rested at Hussey's Funeral Home, Upper Island Cove. Funeral service took place at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Upper Island Cove on February 11, 2010.

DEERING, Mrs. Ethel - Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on Thursday, February 4, 2010, Mrs. Ethel Deering, age 95 years, of Shearstown. Predeceased by her parents: Eleazer and Sarah Jane Barrett; husband: Thomas George Deering: daughter: Christine Mercer; son: Herbert; sisters: Irene (James) Hunt, Theresa Barrett; brothers: Abraham Barrett and Herbert (Gladys) Barrett; son-in-law: Irving Snow. Leaving to mourn: one son: Wallace (Rosolind) Deering; two daughters: Phyllis Deering and Jane Snow; fifteen grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; son-in-law: Joseph Mercer and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Visitation took place on Friday, February 5, 7 - 9 p.m.; Saturday, February 6, 10 a.m. - 12 noon; 2 - 5 p.m.; 7 - 9 p.m.; Sunday, February 7, 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Reverend Howard Crane conducted the funeral service at St Mark's Anglican Church, Shearstown on Sunday, February 7, 2010. Interment was at St. Mark's Anglican Cemetery, Shearstown. Pallbearer were Jeff Snow, Robert Snow, Mitchell Deering, Calvin Tuttle, Edsel Mercer and Clarence Mercer. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Moore's Funeral Home, Bay Roberts.

HOWELL, Madge M.- Passed peacefully away at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear on Thursday, February 18, 2010, Madge M. Howell of Carbonear, age 86 years. Predeceased by husband: Russell; infant son, 1951; brothers: Ronald Hayter and Allan Hayter. Left to mourn: four daughters: Pamela (Peter) Moore, Mississauga. ON; Gertrude (Gerald) Dominie, Pasadena; Deborah (Jackson) Butt, Carbonear and Carolyn Howell, Mississauga, ON; three sons: Duncan (Eva), Carbonear; John (Daphne), Eastport and Willis (Fay), Foxtrap; ten grandchildren: Keith, Claire, Jared, Peter, William, Cheryl, Phillip, John, Sarah and Andrew; three great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Rachel and Bethany; brother: Lester Hayter, Carbonear; sister: Olive Butt, Perth, ON; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Rev. Harry Whitehorne conducted the funeral service on Monday, February 22 at Bethany United Church, Carbonear. Interment took place in the Interfaith Cemetery, Carbonear. McCARTHY, Annie Eliza (nee Leonard) - Passed peacefully at the Carbonear General Hospital on Tuesday February 2, 2010, Annie Eliza McCarthy (nee Leonard) of Riverhead, Harbour Grace, age 85 years. Predeceased by parents: Bridget and Patrick Leonard; infant children: Dominic, Patrick, Veronica and Annie Marie; brother: John; sisters: Mary Caul, Helen Fitzpatrick and Irene Fulford. Left to mourn, husband: Thomas; one daughter: Donna (Gerry) Power, Carbonear; two sons: Larry (Sharlene), Spaniard's Bay and Terry (Debra Virtanen), Harbour Grace; four grandchildren: Tammy (Edwin), David, Keri-Anne (Bryan) and Joshua (Tara) ; two great-grandchildren: Cameron and Jaidyn; one brother: Don Leonard, Placentia; two sisters: Alice Cummings and Christine Fulford, both of St. John's; brother-in-Law: Moses Hunt, Harbour Grace South; sisters-in-law: Mary Hennessey, St. John's, Mary McCarthy, Harbour Grace and Ethel Leonard, Labrador City; also a large number of other relatives and friends. MUGFORD, FRANK S. - It is with great sadness that the family of Frank Mugford. age 64 years, announce his sudden passing on February 4. 2010, at Scarborough General Hospital. Predeceased by his parents Esther (French) & Frank Mugford of Clarke's Beach; & father-in-law George Fletcher. Survived by his wife. Leaving to mourn sons: Walter (Frances), Tolson (Regina) and Craig (Colleen); daughter: Emily (Philip) Monqeau; sisters: Whilomina Winsor and Shirley Snow; brother: Eugene; six grandchildren: Denise (Trent) White, Susan Ralph, Scott (Raylyn) Ralph, Jeffrey Ralph, Samantha Ralph and Jonathon Ralph; two great grandchildren: William and Parker Ralph; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Bernice Spraklin conducted the funeral service at Clarke's Beach United Church, Clarke's Beach on Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Interment was at United Church Cemetery, Clarke's Beach. SLADE, Herbert C. - Passed peacefully away at the Interfaith Citizen's Home, Carbonear on Sunday, February 14, Herbert C. Slade of Salmon Cove, age 90 years. Predeceased by brothers: Ralph, Chesley, Thomas and John; sisters: Gertrude, Cecily, Ascenith, Lillian and Mildred; sisters-in-law: Constance Milley, Grace Forward and Neta Caravan; brothers-in-law: Roland Rideout and Agustus Rideout. Left to mourn, brother: Charles Irving (Olive), Toronto, ON; nieces: Donna White and Marlene White, both of Toronto, ON, Kathleen (Al) Hopkins and their children: Adam and Vanessa, all of Owen Sound, ON; nephew: George (Eileen) White, Huntsville, ON, their children: Erin (Chris) Doyle (daughter: Zoe), Melbourne, Australia and Leanne White, Huntsville, ON; also a large number of other relatives and friends.
