The Compass is a community newspaper
for the Conception Bay North/Trinity Bay areas.
It is published weekly on Tuesday.

 

VOKEY, Joseph Norman - 89 years, of Spaniard`s Bay. Passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2, 2004 at the Carbonear General Hospital following a short illness. Born at Spaniard`s Bay on September 18, 1914. He was the son of William Henry Vokey and Eliza Ann (Vokey) Chipman. He is predeceased by his wife Rachel (1994); sister Rose Ann (1915) and half brother Walter Vokey (1994). He is survived by brother Robert (Bob) of Spaniard`s Bay; also children: Graham (Frances), Brockville, Ont., Janet (Jerry - deceased) Sargent, Lewisporte, NL, Robert (Joyce), Mermaid, P.E.I. and Howard (Lois), Fort Erie, Ont. He is also survived by grandchildren: Karen (John) Abbott, Kenneth (Flor) Vokey, Philip Sargent, Christopher (Lorna) Sargent, Kimberley (Wade) Arnold, Kevin (Jody) Vokey, Christina, Pamela and Melissa Vokey; also great-grandchildren: Mark and Matthew Abbott, Kenny and Andre Vokey, Alexander and Brandon Arnold and Paige Sargent. Resting at Young`s Funeral home, Spaniard`s Bay. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday from 10 a.m. to time of funeral. A funeral service will be held at Holy Redeemer Church, Spaniard`s Bay, Thursday, February 5, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Linda Budden officiating. Interment to take place at Maul Tree Hill Cemetery, Spaniard`s Bay. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
