ASH, Cora E. (nee Ellsworth) - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Friday, December 30, 2011, Cora E. Ash of Carbonear, age 61 years. Predeceased by husband: Augustus 'Gus'; father: Albert Ellsworth; brothers-in-law: Bert Payne and Jacob Payne. Left to mourn, two daughters: Beverley (Glen) Trickett, Broad Cove and Denise ( Jonathan) Pederson, Regina, Sask; mother: Rose Ellsworth, Springdale; two grandchildren: Hayley and Caleb; sisters: Mary Payne, Rocky Harbour, Regina Ellsworth, Norris Point and Sheila Maynard, Woody Point; brothers: Douglas, Gander, Eric, Victoria, Hughie, London, ON and Mark (Margaret), Fort Mcmurray, AB; brothers-in-law: David (Marilyn) Ash, Mount Pearl and Gord (Debbie) Ash, Victoria; Eric Green, Heart's Content; sisters-in-law: Lina (Sidney) Payne and Gloria (Norman) Peddle, both of Heart's Content; special friends: Ingham and Denise Blundell, Carbonear; also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. BURKE, Albert W. - Passed suddenly away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's on Thursday, December 29, 2011, Albert W. Burke of Victoria, age 69 years. Predeceased by parents: Albert and Martha; sisters: Gertie, Mae, Linda and Lorna; brother: Samuel; parents-in-law: Maxwell and Lorraine Mercer; brother-in-law: Barry. Left to mourn, wife: Frances; two daughters: Wendy Burke and Kelly Burke (Glenn Seymour), both of Victoria; one son: Glenn, Victoria; daughter-in-law: Carolyn Burke, Victoria; two grandchildren: Peter and Katie; four brothers: Donald (Ann), Bishop's Falls, Gordon (Betty), Gander, Art (Mae), Victoria and Robert (Linda), Gander; sisters-in-law: Sandra Mercer (Gary Dawe), Coley's Point and Donika Mercer, Bay Roberts; brothers-in-law: Paul (Bernice) Mercer, Victoria, Malcolm (Gloria) Mercer, Bay Roberts, William (Gladys) Mercer, Spaniard's Bay and David (Peg) Mercer, St. John's; also a large number of other relatives and friends. BUTLER, Gerald P. - Passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness at the Carbonear General Hospital on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, Gerald P. Butler of Harbour Grace, age 78 years. Predeceased by parents: Jack and Nellie; brother: Jim and sister: Marcella; brothers-in-law: Fred Ezekiel and Fred Connolly; nephew: Paul Butler. Left to mourn, wife: Bride; three daughters: Geraldine (Claude) Parsons, Victoria; Rosemary Butler ( Brian Callander) and Colleen ( Keith) Young, both of Alberta; two sons: Gerard and Sean, both of Harbour Grace; five grandchildren: Blair ( Cathy), Blake, Holly (Thomas), Emily and Amy; five great-grandchildren: Jasmine, Kelsey, Parker, Summer and Jaxson; one brother: Kevin ( Judy), Gander; two sisters: Marguerite (Charlie) Birkel, Bangor, Maine and Alice Ezekiel, Gander; sister-in-law: Lillian Deering, Freshwater, Carbonear; also a large number of other relatives and friends. CRANE, GERALD E. - Passed away suddenly at his home on Friday, December 2, 2011, Mr. Gerald E. Crane of Upper Island Cove. Mr. Crane was 61 years old. He leaves to mourn his loving family consisting of brothers and sisters: Howard (Pauline) Crane, Randell Crane, Mary (Cliff) Gosse, Joan (Willard Pynn) Gosse, Wayne (Donna) Crane, Jean (Bob) Dawe, Clyde Crane (Irene), Sharon (Clay) Oates and Dale (Dale) Coombs as well as a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by: Parents Josiah and Olive Crane. The funeral service took place at St. Peter's Anglican Church and Cemetery, Upper Island Cove on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 2 p.m. The family received relatives and friends at Slade's Funeral Home, Crane's Road, Upper Island Cove. NICHOLL, M. Theresa - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Thursday, December 15, 2011, M. Theresa Nicholl of Carbonear, age 59 years. Predeceased by brother: Pleamon and sister: Marguerite. Left to mourn, husband: John C.; two daughters: Kelly (Shannon) Mann, Kitchener, ON and Wendy Nicholl (Rick Corner), Sarnia, ON; son: Tony (Olga), Dundas, ON; four grandchildren: Taylor, Brianna, Connor and Beacan; mother: Drucilla Mccarthy, Carbonear; brother: Roy (Evelyn) Stockley, Conception Bay South; two sisters: Marina (Lynn) Boyd and Joan Boyd, both of Summerford; brothersin-law: Terry (Betty) Nicholl, Conception Bay South and Perry (Mary) Nicholl, St. John's; also a large number of other relatives and friends. RIXON, Marion
Passed on: December 25th, 2011. Passed away peacefully at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear on Christmas morning after a period of gradually declining health, Marion Rixon, wife of the late Arthur Rixon (November 2004), of Lower Island Cove, age 86 years. Daughter of the late Ephraem and Josephine (Morris) Sparkes. Predeceased by all of her siblings: John, Elibe, Charlotte, Beatrice, Alice and Ella. Left to mourn, one daughter: Beatrix (Jean Belliveau), Stratford, P.E.I.; four sons: John (Sophie), Robert's Arm, Notre Dame Bay, Robert (Olive), Pouch Cove, David (Susan), Port-aux-Basques and Danny (Karen), Port-aux-Basques; fourteen grandchildren: Peter, Stephen, Colleen, Terry, Nicole, Mark, Karen, Nancy, Kim, Danny, Sara, Herbert, Danielle and Christopher. Also survived by two step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Thanks to the staff of the Harbour Lodge for their great care during her temporary stay of the last several weeks, and many thanks and appreciation to caregivers Olive Wheeler, Ellen Dennis and Jane Morgan, whose care and devotion over the last several years allowed her to stay in her own home until this fall.
