BARTON, Arthur Henry - O.B.E., R.N., playwright, author and broadcaster, the inventor of the BBC Radio character Mr. Mooney, died peacefully in his sleep at the Carbonear General Hospital on Friday, December 8, 2006, at the age of 90, after an eleven year battle with Parkinson's disease. Harry Barton, whose wife Marjorie died in 1997, was the son of Arthur William Barton, Archbishop of Dublin, and Zoe Dorothy Victoria Cosgrave of Howth. He is survived by his sister Barbara Lane, of Ballymaglin, his two sons Charles, married to Ruzi, and Anthony, married to Winda, and his six grandchildren Roy, Jan, Oro, Suzanne, Sophia and Farah. Rev. T. Wayne Blackwood conducted the funeral service on Tuesday, December 12 at the United Church, Perry's Cove. Donations in his memory may be made to the Parkinson Society. BUSSEY, Calvin O. - Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 of Port de Grave, aged 67 years. Predeceased by father William Gordon Bussey and brother Albert. Leaving to mourn wife Betty; mother Lena Maude LeDrew (Bussey );sons: Glen (Doreen), Trevor (Kim), Rodney (Cathy), Bradley (Danielle); daughters: Glenys (Vince) Boone; sister: Judy (Seymour) Bishop, Meta (Robert) Ball; brother Oliver (Doris); grandchildren: Sonia, Megan, Brandon, Donavon, Logan; great-grandchild Kobe; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev'd Dr. James Min conducted the funeral service at Grace United Church, Coley's Point on Saturday, December 9, 2006. Interment was at United Cemetery, Port de Grave. Funeral arrangements were by Moore's Funeral Home, Bay Roberts. Pallbearers were Glen Bussey; Trevor Bussey; Rodney Bussey; Bradley Bussey; Oliver Bussey and Robert Ball.

DEAN, Margaret - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Wednesday, December 6, 2006, Margaret Dean of Victoria, age 69 years. Predeceased by husband: Jordan, 1987; infant children; brothers: Frederick and George; sisters: Goldie, Eliza and Annie. Left to mourn, two daughters: Yvonne (Wayne) Penney, Salmon Cove and Michelle (Roger) Francis, St. John's; one son: Ingemar (Trudy), Victoria; four grandchildren: Adam, Tyler, Kimberley and Carl; one sister: Louise Parsons, Victoria; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Rev. Jesse Bown conducted the funeral service on Saturday, December 9 at the United Church and Cemetery, Victoria. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. HOWELL, Mr. Willis - Of Carbonear, passed peacefully at the Carbonear General Hospital on Thursday; December; 7, 2006. Mr. Howell was 67 years old. He was predeceased by his parents: Willis and Sarah Howell; sisters: Mabel and Myra; brother George Howell. He leaves to mourn his loving family; wife Marcella (nee Dooley), Carbonear; son Willis Jr. (Debbie) Howell, Nova Scotia; daughters: Phyllis Howell (Sheppard), Carbonear, Sharon (Jerry) Badcock, Shearstown and Christine Howell of Richmond, BC.; grandchildren: Shannon Sheppard, Shane Badcock, Stacy Badcock, Kyle Burley; sisters: Pearl Oakley; St. John's, Phyllis (Lloyd) Nosworthy; St. John's and Ruby (George) Garland of Carbonear; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. The Funeral Service took place on Sunday, December 10, 2006 from the Salvation Army Citadel, Carbonear with Interment in The Interfaith Cemetery, Carbonear. No flowers by request. Donations may be made in his memory to a charity of ones choice. Pallbearers were Willis Howell Jr, Kenneth Garland, Shannon Sheppard, Shane Badcock, Jerry Badcock and Pete Dooley. KENNEDY, David D. - Passed peacefully away at Health Science Center on December 2, 2006, Mr. David D. Kennedy, aged 46 years. Predeceased by parents: Clayton (1989) and Nellie (2001) (Stevenson) Kennedy). Left with fond and loving memories: two brothers: Wayne (Pauline) Kennedy of Spaniard's Bay; NL and Barry Kennedy and (Kenna) of Yellowknife, one sister Jeanette (Calvin) Lush of Yellowknife, NWT, niece Lacey Kennedy; nephew Brendan Lush. Rested at Young's Funeral Home, Spaniard's Bay. Funeral Service took place Tuesday; December 5, 2006 at Holy Redeemer Anglican Church, Spaniard's Bay with inurnment at Green Head Anglican Cemetery, Spaniard's Bay at a later date. Donations may be made in his memory to the family fund.

LAYMAN, Angela M. - Passed peacefully away at the Harbour Nursing Home, Carbonear on Tuesday, December 5, 2006, Angela M. Layman of Gull Island, age 90 years. Predeceased by husband: Michael; two sons: Willy and Paul; two daughters: Genevieve and Veronica; grandson: Paul; granddaughter, Angie; two sisters: Cicily and Mary Magdalene; two brothers: William and Terrance. Left to mourn, one daughter: May Anne (Jim) Babstock, Toronto, Ontario; six sons: Patrick (June) and Peter (Betty), both of Ochre Pit Cove, Michael, Northern Bay, Ted (Claire) and Joseph (Marie), both of Gull Island and Ronald (Ellen), Cambridge, Ontario; a large number of grandchildren, great-grand children and one great. great-grandchild; one sister: Kathleen Duggan, New Yolk, USA; also a large number of other relatives and friends. PILGRIM, Bessie M. - Passed peacefully away at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear on Thursday, December 21, 2006, Bessie M. Pilgrim of Carbonear, age 100 years. Predeceased by husband: Harold P., grandson: Bryan, brother: Wallace and two sons-in-law: Frank and Jim. Leaving to mourn, six daughters: Nina (Cliff) Nelson, Florida, USA, Dorothy Clarke, Harwood, ON, Marie (Kenneth) Tiley, Carbonear, Frances Pilgrim, ON, Doreen (Norman) Parsons, Gander and Kaye O'Flaherty, Stoney Creek, ON; two sons: Edward (Myrtle) and Bonnell (Alma), both of Carbonear; fifteen grandchildren; a large number of great-grandchildren; sister-in-law: Gladys Hudson, Florida, USA; also a large number of other relatives and friends.
